What are the current popular moe traits in VNs, LNs, games and so on nowadays?
___dere characters aren't still big are they? I know traps were a popular trait a little back too but that's had to have fallen off also right? What're the kind of characters that will for sure show up if you wanted to make a popular work with 3-5 girls in it?

"Monster" girls are coming into popular style in all sorts of media. Also NEETs.

Well I don't know. People have just taken to calling things like kemonomimi, elves, mermaids, and humanoid dragons "monster girls", so I'm not sure it's any more popular than ever. There are shows with groups of various kinds of monstergirls, but I'm talking about like how there's one tsundere and one tomboy and one loli/imouto. I don't think even non human characters as the random cat eared girl in the group is popular anymore outside the isekai genre. They kind of stay contained in monstergirl themed works than being general moe characters.
Of course if there are new popular VNs coming out where one or two of the heroines is a monstergirl (and not just a youkai fox or something)feel free to correct me.
The NEET thing is interesting. The otaku girl used to be kind of popular last decade up until now. I wonder if it evolved into the NEET girl.
Thinking about otaku and neet, a while back there were several anime with "chuunibyou" girls. Did that become something that carried over to VNs and games and other forms of media or was it not a good enough archetype?

I instantly see Rumia in the first

Wouldn't a 30 year old elf be, like, 9 in human terms?

Rumia isn't a long haired, big breasted, argonian maid though.

They mature at the same rate humans, so no.
