her voice doesn't sound particularly clear or impressive at first sight, but people made so many good songs with her, it just became natural and I became really fond of it. Her new voicebank is so very different almost like another person and it feels distant.

I said it a few times already, but I wasn't impressed by Onn either, it feels very breathy and forced. Yukari's whisper Utau honestly sounded better, even if a bit shabby. Lin wasn't bad just not very good.

I'd like to add that I still like IA too, there are a bunch of great IA songs I love out there, and she can sound really nice if tuned well.

With that said there's something about IA that somewhat grinds my ears, and I can't get myself to listen to her for long periods of time. I can't really get myself to like many of the artists using IA either as they don't really fit the genres I normally like, either that or because those said artists' music also grind my ears. So in the end IA is the Vocaloid I listen to the less out of all of them. It does sometimes happen for me to have IA crazes though, but it's still rare.

Don't worry about it. People here might rant at you for liking Supercell now but everyone liked it back then too, people just got tired of it after a while.

If you just want to listen to some of the more popular stuff (great way to find what vocaloids/producers you like), you have some great options:

-Concerts. Look up the live concerts , the set lists are full of the more popular songs and you can easily find them on Youtube or whatever.

-Games. You don't even need to play the games, but you can find the games' soundtrack online which are also full of popular songs.

-Compilations. There are a ton of Exit Tunes compilation albums for popular songs in general (ex. http://vocadb.net/Al/2030) and even for specifc vocaloids (ex. http://vocadb.net/Al/1261)

-Wikis (VocaDB) are a good way of discovering music as well. If you just go on VocaDB, search by songs (http://vocadb.net/Search?searchType=Song), and sort them by rating, you can find a lot of good stuff. It works well as a starting point.

I don't think there's anything of the ""anime"" type in IA/VT that you're looking for. The two types of visuals in IA/VT are the 2D PVs like Party Party which do not use the costumes you pick, and the ones that use the 3D model you see in the trailer. the 2D PVs are much more common than the 3D model songs.

I don't think the dancers were needed, they're a bit of a nuisance if I may say. I imagine most Vocaloid fans do not necessarily want to see it associated to 3dpd things, at least that's how I feel.
In the Chou Party concerts they had a few people coming in but it generally always was at the beginning of a concert, while I wasn't a fan of it, it didn't break the immersion. For that IA concert, they seem to be coming in rather randomly.

Also I agree the setlist doesn't seem to be the best. Is there even a band playing?

Agreed, they clearly have good ideas (Ligth of Tomorrow, Love Sagittarius, etc. The presentation was nice too) but they needed to apply that into more songs yet I don't think they had the time on their side. More variety in talents would also had been nice.

In my opinion, they should have paid more attention to her expressions. I know she looks a little spaced out in her original illustration, but that shouldn't mean she should look like that all the time. As that webm (kind of) shows, she does look nice with some emotion/expression, but I saw too many places in the PVs where she looks almost blank.

And more lipsync. The last part in Love Sagittarius, parts of Overdrive looks good where there was "some" lipsync, but it felt like it was missing from a lot of places(not necessarily everywhere, but still).

I think that they really, really want to keep the impression of IA begin the ethereal beauty with little expression so no surprise there. What they should have done is to, at the very least have better PV quality both in animations or/and polygon count. Either of those could have gone a long way in improving the overall experience.

I wouldn't even rate it at all I think. To give a Vocaloid's year a rating you'd need that Vocaloid to be "in the competition" and to me Luka hasn't been in it since they released her V4.

Eventually V5 will come, so we just need to be patient, there's still hope ahead.
What I wonder is if Japanese people are vocal about her V4 or not. While I often read non-Japanese comments about how her V4 is wonky I never read anything resembling this on the Japanese side of the internet. It's a shame that she turned out such a mess though. Luka really needed a good update, she was at a disadvantage from the other CVs because she didn't even have Append voices for years. In the end she just turned out to be a guinea pig to their failed EVEC system and the result is what we've got. You can probably get about any other Voicebank to sound decent for half of the effort you need with Luka V4X.
