Are these different from western capsule machines in any way?

Anywhere from 100-500 Yen usually - won't find any shitty little rubber Ninjas or sticky stretchy hand things that collect dirt off of walls until they become disgusting.

If you're familiar with Kinder Surprise and Happy Meal toys, they're usually similar in quality.
