I just started reading VNs a few months ago, and wonder if anyone has any suggestions for what I should read next.
So far, I've really enjoyed Grisaia no Kajitsu, G-senjou no Maou, and Coμ-Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku-, and would like to read more English translations of vns with a similar art style.
Also, just general VN thread
>>16384026
If you've read G-senjou, read Sharin no Kuni. In terms of plotting, it's not as intense and exciting, but it has more passion and heart.
Muv Luv
>>16384066
Im not 100% sold on Muv-Luv's art style, but is the story worth it?

Read Myth if you like to spend tons of time after the game is finished thinking about it.
11eyes is good if you like battle games.
Yu-no is another game you'll spend tons of time thinking about once you're finished. I think it's my favorite game.
Toushin Toshi II if you like RPGs with great stories. Utawarerumono is another good gameplay eroge along with the Rance series.
ef from Minori if you like serious but not overdone drama.
To Heart 2 if you want fluffy slice of life
read ever17 dudes, it was a favourite c. 2009.
there's a general on /vg/ for visual novels with useful pastebins and recc charts on the /a/ wiki. please kindly fuck off
Himawari is pretty good
Fate Stay Night I guess? it's a classic
Fata Morgana is good too
Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative, Alternative is one of the best games in the genre.

Start with Higurashi original sprites
>>16384085
yes
>>16384217
can you stop being a such a negative asshole for once
>>16384026
Fate series
Tsukihime and Kagetsu Tohya
When They Cry/Naku Koro Ni series
>>16402498
Not OP but... I downloaded tsukihime translated by fuwanovel but it won't play. I clicked and opened every files and tried everything.
>>16393753
I started playing Higurashi with the updated sprites. Are the original sprites really that important to the experience? (Different Anon BTW)
>>16404049
Yes. The updated ones don't capture the facial expressions and emotions as well.
>>16384026
We don't do VN generals for English-translated stuff here. That goes on /vg/.
If you want to discuss a specific VN, then that's passable but the thread should indicate as much.
>>16404786
Actually, English VNs can go here too but not Japanese ones on /vg/. You're welcome.
>>16404840
How long have you even been here? English generals have never been allowed. Discussion of those is usually contained in separate threads per each franchise.
Faggots (probably like you) have started generals in the past but in case you haven't paid attention, they are "frowned upon."
I wasn't even trying to give you shit. People sperg out over this for some reason. I figured if someone keened you in to the board culture in a civilized tone you might not get defensive - but understand, adhere, and spare yourself the admonishment. But if that doesn't matter to you, then you actually can fuck off.
>>16404786
>English VNs can go here too but not Japanese ones on /vg/.
Is that what they told you on /vg/? Go back there.
>>16404930
Actually, the eroge threads used to be mixed and we still have plenty of non-general threads for english translated works. You must be new here.
>>16404930
>English generals have never been allowed.
There has never been a prohibition on English-translated VN generals in /jp/. They mostly haven't existed because people use /vg/, but that was voluntary.
>>16384148
>Read Myth if you like be disappointed by non-endings
Fixed.
Anyway, Majikoi is a great game with a pretty similar artstyle.
>>16405217
>the eroge used to be mixed
Yeah, and occasionally IB would post child porn but that wasn't allowed, either. Also, I've already stated that conversations about English-translated works are fine if contained in separate threads unique to each series.
You sound like a serial dipshit.
>>16405242
>thinking there weren't rules about these things before /vg/
Anyway, I don't really give a shit. Stay ignorant.
How many Sci;Adv VNs are there?
Are they as good as S;G?
>>16407151
>thinking there weren't rules about these things before /vg/'
You mean "all things otaku welcome"? There was a VN general at the time, and English works were freely discussed there.
>>16407239
>"all things otaku welcome"
Funny that you seem to think that actually meant something.
>>16407262
Yeah, it meant that whatever rule you're pointing at doesn't exist.
>>16384026
If you liked Grisaia no Kajitsu you should read Grisaia no Meikyuu. I think the English TL is out already.
Majikoi is also a good VN with a fairly similar art style to those. Although it is more light hearted than the things you listed.
Story wise I think you'd like Kikokugai ad the art there isn't really bad at all.
>>16411505
There's a ~2010 version of Kikokugai as well with updated CGs.
>>16404049
r07 is no fool. the sprites look like they do for a reason. the series was the mostly popular doujin game halfway through that he had the money to hire a real artist but he didn't. Ever
>>16411555
I'm no stranger to shoddy sprites, I played Tsukihime and endured those, nor am I really a stickler when it comes to sprites, I just assumed the newer sprites would reflect the story better.
>>16403823
A bit late, but I uploaded my game for a friend a while back. You could try my download, if you like, it works for me. Though a lot of things are already unlocked, you'll just have to deal with that. If it doesn't work, there's probably something wrong with the one you downloaded, or something with your system. Could try compatibility options if it doesn't work.

It had an ending you were just too stupid to understand it. Everything went back to working normally like it was intended.
