Above all else, favorites. The point of the game is having fun and if you use ships you don't like, you won't enjoy the game. Meanwhile if you use girls you like, the experience will be much better and victories will feel satisfying.

Back to stats. More DDs because they benefit from TCI the most. CAs are fine with double attack, especially since their DA is useful in day battle. Having TWO as top3 priorities is plain stupid. If you want to luckmod them, go with Prinz instead of Myoukou to not waste Maruyus. If you want a super strong TCI CA, use Choukai or Haguro instead of Myoukou. Or any other CA you like because they all reach ~cap damage with TCI.
Luckmodding KitaOoi is simply stupid because it only helps in chuuha. If they aren't chuuha, you vastly LOWER their damage output by using cut-in because DA has much higher activation rate.
Abukuma is always priority #1. If you want to make separate case for people not liking her, you should make those for every other ship as well. You're just showing your bias.
Luckmodding Kasumi and Asashio is stupid because you want to use them for anti-installation and ASW above all else and there's high chance you'll lock them on those maps. It's better to luckmod normal combat DDs like Yuudachi, Ayanami, Kawakaze, Akatsuki, Shimakaze or to be honest, just any DD you like - because with TCI all of them are viable for the hardest of maps.

I do. Maya and Akizuki. However I tend to use Maya in main fleet or with DA in escort fleet (and switch between 20.3 (3) and Bofors for another gun depending on what is more important). It's because of her special snowflake ability that changes the fundamental structure of the fleet (giving Abukuma her setup leaves her no space to take anything else, so you have to take that into account when you choose who to luck mod next). For the rest, if you don't like her you can just replace her with a slightly weaker alternative and be on your way. But not Abukuma. The only other ship in the general list with such a special snowflake ability is Maya, and you can just replace her with Pudding.

She's objectively inferior to Choukai and Haguro. I would say Ashigara is better choice as well if you really want to statfag. Even Prinz is arguable with her high HP.
Furthermore, you can use two yasen equips on CA without reaching the cap. There's no harm in missing it by a couple of points. Obsessing over reaching cap is the worst trend of last year which can only be rivaled by even/odd/4/12 HP. Nothing bad happns if you fail to reach the cap. You just lower your chances by 0.7% or something like that. Easily made up by making one more sortie.

Redpill on seaplane fighters, is it worth developing a Type 2 if I can just easily make a Ro.44? I was comparing possible air power gains on different ships and was an extra 16 air power at best on a fully loaded Hyuuga and 3 at worst for Kamo. The results for a fighter/seaplane combo are also near identical on pasta ships and wasting unnecessary screws is always bad. I already have 3 and 1 more would satisfy me.

Yes. You have 2-4 nodes with day battle in every sortie. DA is also better on yasen nodes. TCI is only better in yasen of boss node. Keep in mind day battle occurs before yasen. If your ship is taiha'd, it doesn't matter how strong its TCI is. Closing torps barely matter because they don't stop your fleet from taking damage. They can be nice for clearing out escorts on boss node but boost they offer is far smaller than what DA does before they happen - and DA has benefit of stopping enemy closing torps.
Opening torp is very important, that's why it's often a good idea to put TCI setup on Abukuma, even when she isn't luck boosted. It's especially visible in her case because she has weak day battle even with two guns but two torps increase effectiveness of her opening torp greatly. With KitaOoi however it's different because they reach the damage cap with just the midget sub. TCI setup on them would only increase their opening torp damage in hankousen (and red T) and there's also the point about TCI setup arguably lowering their damage potential in yasen too (because DA has 30-50% higher activation rate while being merely 5% weaker).

Giving DA to CA is different from giving it to everyone.
1) Abukuma should have TCI setup so that she can kill stuff bigger than DDs and still cleanly kill DDs even in negative engagements/chuuha.
2) BB is useless in yasen, especially a Kongou or Pasta. I used third DD back then. Luck boosted waifu, Shigure and Skilled Lookouts Ayanami. By the way my waifu was in the process of luckboosting in Summer '15 and when she was below 40, the results weren't sufficient.
Yes, I would have definitely advised you to keep DA on Choukai and Yuudachi. However I would have also advised replacing Yuudachi and especially Kirishima with TCI DDs. Kirishima was a liability in escort fleet because unless you gimped main fleet by using a lot of CVLs, you had 50%(?) chance of getting redirected to Y.

Remember that Summer 2015 was an extreme example. No other map had a boss with so much armor. Normally TCI isn't as vital. Using it as an argument against DA is unfair. Back then TCI was wiser choicer (on most of the escort fleet) but it doesn't mean this will always apply.

Choukai reaches 2x 240 with just +4 (3) guns or +9 (2) guns, something a person playing for less than a year can easily afford. It's enough vs all bosses other than Antizuki. Yes, it might seem insufficient at first armor but important thing is that she does penetrate them. High armor means big fluctuation in armor roll, the damage varies wildly. Crits also happen and they will be strong from DA CA. Other important factor is clearing out escorts. The chance of targeting escort is higher than chance of targeting the flagship. The numbers posted by >>16355143 might be eye catching but they're quite shallow when you think about it because of overkill. You don't need to hit 100 HP BB Hime for 300 damage with TCI. You want to reliably sink her so that your TCI ships can focus on the boss. Here comes fleet positioning, where you want either DA CLT (if possible) or other TCI ship on bottom (in Summer '15 it was preferably DD or Prinz). The TCI damage advantage is often wasted while reliability disadvantage is always there. Finally, double attack setup vastly improves day battle performance.
With combined fleet's modifiers, let's say, Ashigara with two 20.3 (3) at +6 in escort fleet of Kidou Butai deals:
2x 1.2* (82 + 2*10 + 2*2.44 + 15) *1.1 = 2x 160 damage. That's enough to murder Ru flag or disable Wo Kai if both hits hit or there's one crit and one miss. Meanwhile with TCI she would only deal (82+15)*1.1 = 106 with very inaccurate single attack or at best 160 with a crit. Basically less than half of damage potential when you factor in DA chance and accuracy.

TCI might deal more damage to boss when it hits but if you don't use any DA, reaching the boss will be much harder and chance of actually targeting the boss in said yasen will be lower because of both more enemies surviving day battle and higher chance of enemies surviving long in yasen.

Those RTA fags who use all TCI fleets also use sparkled waifus across the board stuffed with megamis for a reason and sometimes still have problems. People shouldn't expect to get anywhere close to replicating their success by copying only one part of their strategy and ignoring the rest of it.

I think the double attack is very valuable and underrated by people who simplify things too much. The best approach would be taking a couple of ships with DA and a couple with TCI, balancing it out depending on various factors like: boss composition, difficulty of route to boss, branching rules. This means you will almost always want to use some DA in your fleet. Usually it's your CLTs (plus searchlight or APCI fBB) and when you can't use them, you would replace them with DA CAs (but in such situation you will move a TCI ship to the bottom). Leave the TCI to DDs who simply can't get enough power in yasen with DA and, probably even more importantly, just don't really benefit from it in day battle, unlike CAs. That's another reason why I'm against giving luck boosting priority to CAs. They simply lose far too much. DDs don't lose nearly as much by going for TCI, their day battle is weak anyway because they are limited to single attack. All the focus on yasen potential is a huge fallacy.

I want to address something more specific while we're here because it's related.
Following this logic, if you want to use a TCI CA, Prinz is your primary choice because she loses the least by going TCI as her firepower is lower than that of other elite CAs and she has good enough base luck. If you feel like 40 luck might not be enough (quite wisely), you can still make her pretty reliable at a low cost, with either a ring if you like her or one Maruyu soup. Getting one batch is something affordable (if Tanaka smiles, you could even farm them mid-event in a nice spot), it gets much harder for other CAs who need a couple of moths dedicated to boosting them which means delaying your progress with Abukuma and DDs. Myoukou is a decent alternative for a makeshift TCI CA with Skilled Lookouts but in such situation she only has one free slot.

It is still important because Yuudachi has much better chance of oneshotting opposing DD or bringing Tsu to chuuha than Shigure which in turn means either your main fleet focusing on big guns immediately or you avoiding closing torp damage. On the other hand, Shigure's TCI will deal more damage to armored boss than Yuudachi's DA. What you want to do is decide whether better day performance of Yuudachi is worth more than much higher yasen damage of TCI DD.

I definitely prefer the bulge. BBs are capable of tanking even damage cap hits and the bulge helps them greatly in performing this task. Even small boost can matter (I remember when in last event a Wo Kai hit my Nagato for 44 damage, she survived it with 46/90 and proceeded to kill Wo Kai in second shelling - this wouldn't be possible without bonus armor and could result in taiha from Wo kai's second attack) and the +9 armor is huge. Anyway, it's true that I did bring some CVLs (you could have a total of 4 BB(V)/CV in the combined fleet), but at that time I felt that CVLs had two large enough slots to use and fighters in the small slots were enough due to the newly introduced proficiency. Besides in kidou the escort fleet attacks first and I felt I needed a strong first attack to start off. Not really. The thing with combined fleet is the gimped accuracy you get. Kidou escort gets something like -30 hit rate. Even when I used DA with level 80+ or 90+ CAs I kept getting scratch against ships I'd have easily sunk in single fleet. On the other hand there's no accuracy penalty for yasen. Though with that said APCI was pretty accurate even in kidou escort, which was another reason I used Kirishima. Besides, while I'm no RTAfag, even without megamis and full sparkled combined fleet (how much does sparkling even do?) I'm confident enough in my support fleets that they can clean out enough enemies along the way so as for them not to pose much of a problem to me.
