There are many ways people get into Kigu.

Some are cosplayers looking for a new challenge. Some meet a kigu at a convention. Some find Kigu forums and become fascinated.

The forums do provide a lot of moral support and advice, as well as contact with existing Kigu performers. Kigu is not a cheap experience by any means. Neither is it an accepted form of expression to many. Like crossdressing there is a stigma attached, and people who want to get into it, need to be aware of the resistance they will be facing.

There is the anonymity factor which give some courage, and many Kigu groups will welcome a newcomer and give them a more tangible support, safety in numbers.

Quick question for those who were interested; would you prefer "kigurumi" to be left as-is, or translated to "costume"? Technically the costume in the story isn't a kigurumi as we define it (helmet head + hadatai), so using "kigurumi" feels both inaccurate and weabish. "Costume" also doesn't feel totally accurate either; carries childish connotations of halloween costumes.

Aw crap, I just realized there's rapid perspective switching going on. I had thought the pronouns were weird 'cos of google translate, and because of this google formats translations the paragraph breaks that indicate perspective change were eliminated.

Here's part 1. Later parts should go more smoothly, since I've worked out a system that should minimize having to deal with weird formatting quirks.

I've preserved the original formatting, which is pretty different from English fiction (way more paragraph breaks, practically by the sentence). I thought it'd be awkward to read, but I think you can get used to it. I'm willing to reformat it to something more typical for English fiction though.

The writing style/tone seemed somewhat inconsistent, mostly plainly objective but with odd points of informality. Might be a byproduct of bad translation, but the google translate "raws" of parts 5-7 have a markedly different, more lively tone, so maybe not?
In any case, I can't tell either way, so I tried to make things more consistent in tone, which mighta ended up making things consistently boring. If that's the case (please say so, if it is), I could rework things to be consistently lively/sexy instead. (POV guy is a pretty horny dude). That'll mean more artistic licensing though - since I'll be adding in my own embellishing on top of the dull google translate "raw" - and slower releases.
