I'd consider that more a job than an enjoyable time, but different strokes for different folks.

All fun and games aside, is there any particular reason I can't download images from danbooru on my phone?

I wind up storing all my random internet finds (including elona) on it but choosing to save images on danbooru just tries to initialize the download forever.

So let me get this straight. The vindale forest is what causes ether wind, which protects the world from the infestation of Meshera. Saimore comes in and convinces everyone to burn down the forest, even though he secretly knows about Meshera. The whole point of you spelunking in Lesimas was to stop Saimore from getting his hands on the treasure and using it to do exactly what he did anyway (convince everyone to destroy the forest), so it was a pointless quest.

The forest gets burned down, everyone is sad, diseases and corruption start to spread, and 3 years later you show back up, this time to conquer south tyris. Saimore now acts like he's full of regret. What's this guy's problem? What was the point of fucking everyone over in the first place? Why are the characters now acting like he's done nothing wrong?
>>
>>16312152
Check your inventory screen, there should be an indicator there for your cart capacity and your backpack capacity.

>I've alraedy completed the quest to join previously, but the NPC gives me the quest again like I never completed it. Is this a bug of some sort?

If you change guild, you need to do the recruitment quest to do stuff with the guild again. Even if you've done the quest before.
>>
>>16312501
Can only be a part of one guild at a time. If you leave and join another guild you will need to repeat the joining quest again for the guild you left if you want to rejoin it.

>>
>>16312786
Plant magic seeds, harvest, put everything in a magic shop, hope you get rod of wishing.

I remember that Kai guy saying something like that.
>>
>>16312549
Are you doing enough harvest time quests to keep a farm growing magic seeds or clearing dungeons fast enough to keep a magic shop stocked? I am doing this and getting about 5-8k gold per day as long as it is stocked, and rank is still climbing. I bought a rod of domination and kidnapped a thieves' guild member to run the place.
>>16312793
Yes

Do you have a bunch of figurines saved up? <Named> NPC figures make the most money, so try to have a few of those in addition to a pile of normal monster ones before your start your museum. Though <named>, random dungeon bosses only count as regular monsters. You can use dueling gloves or rod of summon monsters to take out named NPCs in towns to avoid karma loss if -2 is a problem for you, just be careful what you summon.

The ROI on the shop I think is better but it's a bigger capital investment and requires actual work to keep it running.
>>
>>16312793
There is that and you can get straight ou a rod of wishing from it.

Haven't had that luck so far. Got a few scrolls of attribute and flying by selling some oracle scrolls but no books or rods of wishing from selling all the books across Irva.
>>
>>16312809
do you only sell oracle scroll ?

have you found good scrolls from selling shitty ones ?
>>
>>16312871
Well, at the start I was only selling my huge load of them, which got me the attribute ones. After I started throwing every type of scroll I've seen to have been getting enchanting weapon and more oracles for most of the time.

I'll probably go back to selling only oracles to see if I get anything again.
>>
>>16312871

Did some testing on the shop.

Max value you can get for each item is around 190k (that's with 2000 negociation).
Around 50k at 150 neg and 100k at 500 neg.

You get your negociation up x10 and you get max value x4, sounds fair.

Also cost to train the shopkeeper is 65k at 150 neg (60 cha) and around 800k when you are near 2k neg.

Alright Astar, welcome to the Kai household. After looking over various innkeeper applications it seems you're the best fit. It seems you already come with negotiation skills and a decent charisma score. A common trait with you imps and demons it seems. I believe that your skills in negotiation and overall charisma will grow in the time you spend as my innkeeper.

I only have two concerns. One, I understand you succubus have certain nutritional requirements. Please take care of yourself but please do not mix business and pleasure to the point where it gets in the way of your duties. Also, I need to check in with the lawyers at the Palmia embassy. It says here your age is 10 in your application. You insist you're old enough but I don't know what that is in human years. I hope I'm not violating any child labor laws. At any rate, I welcome you aboard and look forward to working with you.

>>16310550
Other anon is correct, race/class is Eulderna Predator. I renamed the class at character generation to The Breaker for a variety of reasons. One being that I saw myself shattering bones, rupturing organs, and causing internal bleeding with my martial arts skill. You know, all that good fun in martial arts films and movies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbkM4ozMzD4

Predator class suits me fine and I've never changed my class. While not as good as what a warmage can achieve, I'm content with my 92% cast chance at medium armor. The additional starting speed from Predator class combined with kokou helped me at the beginning of the game and the increased crit chance from the class helps out my martial arts damage. Only concern at the time was maybe the slight increased INI score due to starting out with additional speed but I found out that it wasn't really anything to worry about. Haven't really had problems collecting AP and I've collected about 86k in AP so far.

>>16312871
Not really sure the perceived quality of stuff you sell really matters. I tend to buy everything the magic vendors sell(potions, scrolls, spellbooks) regardless of what it is and if it's not anything I need it goes all into the shop. I've managed to get spellbooks of wish and other stuff. Recently I've sold only beer in my inn and managed to get a speed upper. Considering the value of a speed upper compared to beer I find it interesting that I got such a good trade up.

Spellbooks of wish and rods of wish are rare finds in the shop but they do happen. My first attempt at collecting these spellbooks/rods of wish come from visiting all the invested magic vendors on all three continents and checking out my farms. As a consolation prize if I don't find said items, I just buy out all the vendors inventories and put them in my shop for a second chance at getting a spellbook of wish or other goodies. I do the same thing for rods of wish where I visit goods vendors and collect them from my magic seed farms. If I don't get what I just buy out and dump everything in the shop for a second chance. Stores restock in about 3 days and by making my rounds and recycling my goods I up my chances of getting good stuff.

Currently I'm wondering if shop level is actually helping me get more spellbooks of wish. All of my magic vendors have shop levels in the thousands. My magic vendors in my palace, 8 of them, have the highest shop level in all the land. Shop level around 20k. I've gained quite a few from my own home so I'm wondering if it's just because there is 8 there or if them having a shop level higher than the rest of the world is playing a part. Regardless, as long as they keep supplying me with spellbooks of wish they are totally deserving of having enough gold in their inventories to buy themselves a palace or two.
>>
>>16312549
Depends on what you do, I guess. If you have a lot of cards/statues in reserve, probably a museum. Shop is better at bringing money when paid attention to and/or specialized(specifically I would go for equipment at first), but remember that it's 5k per month at rank 100. Any time you're doing anything that isn't getting equipment is money, it's technically money out of your pocket. Not that it's really that big of a deal, 5k/month isn't much. I probably average 50k a month in net income from my shops monthly at level 35 just by throwing whatever gear I stumble upon questing or dungeon spelunking at it that I don't want. I do have some decently trained shopkeeps by now, though. You might get a little bit less starting out and especially if you use a shopkeep with bad negotiation/charisma.

>>16312793
I, personally, usually just draw charges from whatever rods(most)or spellbooks I don't want and throw them into spellbooks with spells I want. More useful that way.

Also, I bought a necklace with ##### on chance to crit hit. How good is that? It was pretty cheap, only like 1.5k. I haven't used one with this kind of stat boost yet, so I don't know how big the boost to crit will be.

Reading the red book on the ground is usually a good first step. If you need more help you can check out the wiki

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Shop

If you have a specific question feel free to ask here.
>>
>>16313583
You need a shopkeeper first of all. Check the wiki's article on shops for a list of good shopkeeps and how to obtain them. Then use the register to assign your shopkeep(have him in your party first). Register also has expansion and specialization options.

After that you just drop all the items you want to sell in your shop and let the shopkeep do his thing. Return from time to time to drop any new items you don't want, collect money from the safe and drop whatever didn't sell in the safe back into the shop again(they'll sell eventually even if they don't the first time). You can specialize your shop in a certain type of goods if you wish, it will net you much greater profit but will also limit your options for what you can sell at that shop. I would also upgrade your shop a few times so it can hold more than 10 items, but I don't feel you need much of it at least at the start. I've probably never had more than 30 items on the floor at any one time, as they all sell fairly quickly.

Anybody know why there's no Festival for me? I headed to Noyel but there's no sign of it, the same Noyel as always. Nothing there that the wiki page says should be.

I broke into the thieves' guild and dominated a guild member to be a shopkeeper, he's been doing ok for me. The guild leader will ram through walls directly at you as soon as you enter without being a member. I have a farm growing rods to sell, but this isn't nearly enough to keep it stocked. Kai mentioned using farmed rods for charges for spellbooks, but I don't do much magic beyond identify. Maybe if I ever get casting up to the point I can cast spells reliably they will be better than potions and rods. For some reason potions don't sell in a magic shop.

I'm thinking of turning it back to a general store or a gear shop and dumping all the trash I find dungeon diving.

>>
>>16313881
The rods to charge other things wasn't my idea but anon's idea is clever. I don't have spell stock problems anymore with Kai and I'm not a magic device user with this character so I just dump most of the rods I find into my magic store. I'll probably open up a blacksmith shop too. I could use a way to generate living weapons that I can't get from crafting. Also want the specialized shop for the extra gold.

>>16313925
Spell damage for a pet is keyed to the pet's casting skill. If it's not that great then the damage won't be good. Also you need to make sure you give a casting pet gear that enhances its spells since they also benefit from the spell damage multiplier. Max spell damage multiplier is 2x.
>>

>>
>>16314132
>magic device user
Meant to say dedicated magic device user. I have enough in the skill to use a rod of wishing and I do consume potions but it's not something I use a lot like someone who relies on them for damage. Not to knock magic device users though. They can be pretty strong with the quick use ability and dupli cane really paved the way to allowing one to play as an Artificer.
>>
>>16314132

now my little girl do 42 damage with casting skill, thanks a lot!
>>
>>16314160
>They can be pretty strong with the quick use ability and dupli cane really paved the way to allowing one to play as an Artificer.
Dupli-cane is a trap, honestly. The cumulative stamina cost is ungodly unless you're massively overleveled for the dungeon, so you categorically cannot handle awakened dungeons without spending actual charges. Even normal dungeons are going to cost charges because a sudden mob situation will overtax your stamina.
Dupli-cane is nice, sure, but it leads to understocking on your carried rods and that's a very easy way to get yourself tired, out of rods, and surrounded.
>>
>>16314219
I for some reason have never had stamina problems like a lot of people report so I must admit I'm probably the weird one here. It's due to this that I never really cared much for staying too long with Kumiromi as well. I usually get the vampiric ability feat and by sucking the blood of my enemies I recover enough stamina to just keep going. My previous character actually had magic device at a pretty good level ,1200 or so, and I remember also just sandbagging an enemy and using it as a stamina battery to use blood suck on.

My only real complaint about dupli-cane is that it nerfs your damage a bit but since you can toggle it that's not too bad. If I had to cut loose I'd toggle it off. Could always just restore burnt out rods by crafting new rods through carpentry or using draw and refill. I'm just happy dupli cane came around for at least training purposes since it made the actual cost of training the skill not too bad.

I'd like all your opinions. When it comes to that point should I evolve my fox brother to fire fox brother, or nine tailed fox brother?

Megid Flame seems like a really nice ability on the fire fox brother for elemental scar, but the wiki says that his stamina will be super drained by it. But he also gets resistance to fire naturally. +20 life +20 speed

9 tails gets no special abilities or resistance, but gains +30 life +20 speed +25 magic
>>
>>16314414
Megid Flame is really fucking good.
On the other hand, a base life of 50 sucks pretty hard, so that extra 20% from 9 tails is really useful.

Personally, I'd make my decision based on how low his HP tends to get and if I'd benefit from him Element Scarring things.
>>
>>16314414
Megid Flame is interesting because it's an ability I don't think the player can get hence can't teach to a pet using Custom. So it has value. Speed and magic are nice but you could get them through other means. So what's left is life. You can boost life but it's one of the hardest things to do so imo that's what it boils down to. An evolution with extra life vs evolution with Megid Flame. The wiki makes mention that it drains its stamina but my question is if that's true for a well trained pet?

Stamina is calculated using Will and Constitution so if a pet has those attributes at a high value will the pet have enough stamina then to not be so drained? I'm willing to take that risk to find out so I cast my vote for that evolution however I completely understand people picking the other evolution. It's a safe bet with decent upgrades.
>>
>>16314414
i went with 9tails just for the +10 life extra life
just because foxbrother is so easy to gib

if you want megid flame, get a child fire dragon
>>
>>16314414
I'm leaning towards making mine ninetails for the extra base health, but then, I've already given him three hero cheese, so he'd basically be at the same place if I just make him fire foxbrother in terms of base health.

Granted, it may just come down to whichever heart I get first.

To get back in your god's good graces and raise favor with them you need to offer things at their altar that they like.

im not skeptic because of the price in gold but rather the time it takes, the part of risk and the fact that you have to be in the thieves guild. sometimes adventurers reset their inventory at random and if they do when they have your stack of potions you lose big.

>>

For the shop none that I can think of. The amount a pet spends on their trainer has nothing to do with the amount of skills it has learned. INI score and charisma score seem to affect overall trainer costs. A high INI score with a low charisma score will lead to a pet needing more gold to visit its trainer.

Not a bad living weapon. Could go both. If you're still early in the game you can pick up the skills to use that ballista well and train it to be combat ready without too much difficulty. Only problem with crossbows is the lack of precious weapon selection if for some reason you don't want to use that living weapon. The weight of the ballista might also interfere with your casting if you don't use flying scrolls on it.
>>
>>16326624
>"z menu"
I forgot this was even a thing. Guess it exists to help the noobs out but it's so much less clunky and you'll work faster if you just memorize the hotkeys to do stuff and stick with the keyboard.

I'm currently farming flying scroll to make my equipment weight within medium range.

Just used adamantine material kit to increase the damage and hit rate of this weapon.

What is a good upgrade though? Not really familiar with living weapon. I'm thinking of giving a high magic resistance and attack, and maybe some massive damage against dragon/god.
>>
>>16326939
Upgrades you want should be good. Best way to get the most of a living weapon is to do artifact fusion first then to level it but if you don't have access to that and just want to level it you can't go wrong with what you're doing.
>>
Do trade vendors scale with anything? Time? Level? I see no option to invest. I can only sell like 3 Christmas Trees in Port Kapul before the trader is out of gold.
>>
>>16327116
they level when you buy and sell stuff to them

buy their entire stock and resell it to them right back to level them
>>
>>16326939
>>16326989
By the way, if you level a living weapon too much, you won't be able to use artifact fusion on it later because it will be over the "point enchantment" limit
However, leveling a living weapon after you reach this limit by artifact fusion first won't be affected by this.

Basically

Artifact Fusion First > You can still level it later too and get double the enchantments
Leveling Living Weapon First > You won't be able to put as many fusion enchantments on it, if any at all

What should I use my AP on? Which is the priority?

Should I just boost speed or get the charge attack?
>>
>>16329271
Priority is Barrier if you don't heavily use MP, then any spacts you need right now, then speed. Once speed is capped (500 in south tyris, 800 in lost irva) you pick up whatever spacts and feats you want and start spiking bonus points.
A few builds want bonus points more than speed.
>>
>>16329383
So I shouldn't get barrier if I'm a magic user?

Depends on how low your MP tends to go. If you like to cast hard and your MP frequently goes under 1/3rd then Barrier won't do much for you. If you rest after each fight and keep yourself topped off then Barrier is great.

some thoughts on the ultra-lategame, after the monsters you fight have capped out on stats:

1. mages are the best.
2. any 'hard' monster that's not a boss can be one-shot-neutralized, either with Slow, Silence or Rod of Change / thrown Potion of Mutation.
3. Mist of Darkness + combat buffs makes you tanky.
4. Meteor can do so much damage that it used to overflow the integer size limit. Magic resistance + fire resistance keeps it in check, but the latter can be removed with Nightmare.
5. Doing lvl 2000+ awakened dungeons? Every single monster on the level is aggroing you? Just want the nefia tear? Cast Magic Map, then Teleport around until you get near the stairs. Or clear the floor with Meteor.
6. Slow is the singular most powerful 1v1 spell. If you max out base speed you should have 3000+ speed buffed, so with Slow active on a boss (takes several tries) you'll be taking 3 actions for every 1 the boss takes. It's difficult to lose.

If playing 1.63 or later, Konigs Katz are a new behicle-type monster, a combination of speed (slightly slower than a Gold Bell) and cMetal backed by a beefy base 120 hp and 346 constitution for what is probably the most durable non-boss enemy in the game, capable of reliably tanking the Gods (though without help they'll eventually go down from the difference in DP, except possibly against Yacatect if they're lucky with a Sniper Rifle). Their special ability isn't anything great, being SE against other cMetals like bells and themselves, but they're a great candidate for the GAU Gatling and other end game firearms.

Of course, this is for end-game players who can stick around to part 3 of the main game: they're roughly as dangerous as Frisia, and will effortlessly destroy ill-prepared players.

A second option if you're on 1.62 is Yerleswood Type M, a mass-produced version of Yerleswood and Yerleswood Neo which has only a fraction of their strength but is a good balance of firepower and durability, kind of like a poor man's Garziem. Though a rare encounter on their own, they have a chance to spawn in packs in high-level dungeons. Their routine is a combination of shadow-stepping and firing their gun; I've gotten good results equipping mine with a sniper rifle.

Yerles conbat planes are vastly more attainable than the above two being a level 50 encounter, and require some investment to make workable (control magic or swap their grenade with a gun), but will make short-work of North Tyris on their own and scale well enough further along when you evolve them.

Or, if you don't think it's cheating, you can do like I did and save scum when you make REALLY dumb mistakes at the first couple of levels until you get into the swing of the game.

Others here might have better advice, but that is my 2 cents.

I can't speak for awakened dungeons as I haven't leveled my dungeons past the 600 mark due to reward caps. So my awakened dungeons are around that level.

I will speak of the void though as that's where my battleground is. I used an insight lens on a wyvern I found down there. They naturally have very good fire resist and not so great everything else. I think I may have confirmed my fears that the void is pushing resists beyond the normal resist tracking system with hashtags/pound signs. This particular wyvern shows that it has "superb" resist in everything except magic which is at "normal". Well after putting element scar on the wyvern I found that the normally reported resist doesn't really account for its true resist. Apparently the wyvern has resists well beyond superb#####. Element scar did indeed drop its resists as I was doing more damage with fire related spells though. I'm still wondering if resists for monsters down here even cap out eventually or if they'll just keep getting stronger.

Having said that, I don't see a lv2000 meteor doing more than 1.3 million damage to normal enemies with what seems to be the baseline resists here in the void. Resists are a bit shifted down here depending on what the monster's original resists were. So if a very fire resistant monster showed up down here he'd be even more fire resistant than his peers. Against enemies with exceptional fire resist the damage can sink all the way down to the 600k mark I think.

Meanwhile, my martial arts is doing around 2.5 million with 6 attacks in the void. Highlighted it in red in my picture. I'm just running clear mind and attribute. Both buffs mainly benefit martial artists. Not running any other buffs on my character and if I had gotten 8 attacks or more and ran buffs I'm sure the damage would of been 3+ million. Also not using any debuffs on the wyvern like mist of frailness.

If I had to predict what will happen to these enemies in the void in the future, I predict that eventually they'll reach the cap HP and MP of 20 million. I could be missing a zero but I think it's 20 million. While I'm not sure their life and mana attributes will grow their levels certainly will meaning more HP and MP for them. Their attributes will eventually cap and so will their skills. Resists may keep scaling as well.

While running around with all sorts of buffs is the ideal the reality is a lot different down here for me. I end up getting loaded down by debuffs. The horde of monsters have no qualms spamming their debuffs. The worse debuff down here naturally is silence but brainwash is a nice contender as well. I'm trying my best to keep my debuff counters leveled up through magic academy and leveling them when I have 400 potential but the monster hexes down here are so very strong that they overwhelm me.

Overall magic is very good for its utility and it can do respectable damage. Magic is certainly king in AOE but I do a lot more damage to a single target using Martial Arts. As enemy HP grows, debuffs get stronger, and scary resists become the norm, I'm glad I went hybrid martial artist and magic.

>gotten 8 attacks or more
I made a mistake here. 8 attacks seem to be the cap in number of attacks a martial artist with 2 hands can do. I'm not a mutant so my cap is 8 attacks but I wonder if mutants are restricted to this number as well. That's a scary thought though, all those hands doing 2d255.
>>
>>16329924
For some reason I was under the impression that positive and negative mutations cancel one other out rather than overriding, and I'd need to use cure mutation until I get rid of the bad stuff then add good stuff with evolution. I'm not sure where I read this, and I can't find it under the feats or mutations pages on the wiki so I'm guessing it's not true.

Does it really have cmetal? The wiki page for the monster doesn't indicate that it has cmetal and it would certainly buck the trend of metal monsters having crap HP from low life. Also looked up behicle and there's nothing indicating that that race has cmetal or damage reduction.

Good point. Still not sure what is up with Eyth though. Does he just not show himself or do much so he doesn't get bothered? Or is he some etheral thing with no physical form in the first place?
>>
>>16331986
I'm pretty sure he has better things to do , like keeping all the reality in check. My guess he's like Azatoth to Elona
>>
>>16331986
He can bless bottles of water, so he must exist is some form.

NPC chatter occasionally mentions an era of "Eyth Terra". I'm not very familiar with the lore, but it sounds like Eyth was the dominant god of this era. Maybe it ended with him being cast down from the heavens or making some suicidal heroic sacrifice to save the world and losing most of his power and followers.
>>
>>16332069
Let me tell you a little secret.

Eyth is actually the god of putits.
>>
>>16332057
Honestly this is my current theory. Since someone brought up lore about how there is a class of god called "elder god". Apparently Izpalt was an elder god that got demoted to normal godhood, losing his true form, which he hates so much he wishes to break the world into its base elements to give him the power to reascend.

So my theory is Eyth is a elder god that you can't comprehend, holding the universe together.

Alright my little sister Mai(little girl) just graduated from some sort of witch academy and will now be staying with me. Let's see what she's learned.

Since she's a witch she'll probably pewpew in the back and...she's rushing towards the goblin? Her witch spells might work better at close range so she'll bla....she took the goblins head off with an axe? I...oh she's casting crystal spear at that thief. Surely this must be her ultimate attack that does....3 damage?

Kai: Timeout. You said you're a witch now and trained at some special school. What's going on? Why are you rushing enemies down? Also why aren't your spells melting enemies?

Mai: Ehehe. I didn't do too well in my classes but I was the best in my gym classes! Is there something wrong?

Kai: It's just...you don't attack like any spell caster I know. Instead of a witch, you're more like a warmage. That's not necessarily bad though. I can make you strong but this is quite a shock. What the hell were you doing the whole time at this witch school? You should of studied more!

Mai: Partied? I followed Lulwy neesan's advice on drinking beer to make my chest grow!

Kai: Geh. That troublesome goddess!

I had no idea that the witch evolve didn't do anything to the melee AI. I thought it would at least change a bit. This is going to be an interesting pet to raise. Instead of 1 primary skill to raise, casting, she's going to want 4 primary skill. Weapon skill, tactics, possibly two hand or dual wield, and casting.
>>
>>16332381

>got two whips that give ######++ to casting
>can't toss them on a witch
>because don't have a witch
>because she's still a little girl

I just want a casting friend that's not a rogue wizard.
>>
>>16332408
She's going to be an interesting mage because she likes to get in melee range. I'm probably going to end up trying to teach her some sort of ball spell like magic storm since she likes to get in melee range. For those curious, yes she keeps cheer even when evolved to a witch. I've seen her cast it but it's rare. I know the fix for that is to just increase her speed through AP or something as that will give her more turns and will raise the likelihood of seeing it casted more.

For a more traditional caster the Exile is one of the best magic casting pets. Exile has the unique ability to double cast dart like spells in one action.

Hey Kai.
How do you level up strength, if you don't have herbs and stuff? Mine is so low, I can't seem to find an efficient way to bring it up.

Also, what do you use bonus points for?

uhhh why is lightning rod damage so bad, even on wet target it does half the damage of any other rod

>>

Not Kai, but you can join the fighter's guild and pay 3pp to raise your strength potential, ~3 times to get from hopeless to superb. Fighter's guild entry quest is pretty easy, and you can savescum in case you get something stupid hard.

Then buy up potential for whatever strength based weapon skill you want to train and hack away. Or ranch animals whose meat trains strength.

jfc, this game is 100% single threaded and just throws away inputs when that thread is busy doing anything other than idling. It's impossible to pick crops if my pet happens to start chasing a bat or a rabbit.
>>
>>16333582
It is a good thing it discards inputs when not ready for inputs. If it didn't, you'd get situations where a player something during an enemy attack but changes their mind after the attack, and thus dies.
>>
>>16333627
When I'm in a dangerous boss fight every turn I take is deliberate, I'm not button mashing. The button mashing busy-work is what would benefit from multi-threading. Besides, there is no reason player input and NPC AIs can't be on the same thread to avoid such a scenario.

Animation, input and sound should have their own threads. Most multi-threaded games don't put every little thing on their own threads, one will still do the lion's share of the processing, but other items that happen over time like animation or sounds are put on their own. Music seems to be on it's own thread, but I think sound effects are not. Everything else is instant, but the game is totally unresponsive when playing a sound effect.
>>
>>16333785
Hi. Programmer speaking.

What you're talking about has literally nothing to do with multithreading.

What you're requesting is input buffering. You want the program to keep track of key presses and then apply them as soon as the program looks for inputs, instead of only accepting key inputs when input is needed.

The proper way of doing this* would be to set up a keyboard interrupt that feeds the keystroke into the buffer, then instead of looking for keyboard input just read directly from the buffer. Some decisions would have to be made regarding how much to store and when to flush the buffer, but it'd be trivial to set that up.

*If and ONLY if it's actually desired behavior. It's damn easy to do, so I can only assume it's not desired behavior.
>>
>>16332654
Skill grind is the other half of the equation if you want to level up attributes. So for my character Kai leveling skills such as martial arts, tactics, and weight lifting has increased my strength. Looking up what attribute is keyed to what skill is useful in targeting how to get a specific attribute up.

For my character, I use bonus points to level up essential skills that make up my damage or skills that need extra help since they're hard to grind out. For the longest time, I only spent bonus points on martial arts and tactics. Now I'm spending them on the performer skill.

A pet can get bonus points as well by visiting Leold and exchanging the pet's AP for bonus points. To spend the bonus points for a pet you must visit an informer NPC in town and go to their character sheet with skills. I spend pet bonus points very similarly to how I do with my character. I specifically look for skills that make up their damage. So a caster pet has all its bonus points dumped into casting. A melee pet will probably need points in a weapon skill, tactics, and maybe two hand or dual wield. For a ranged pet it's firearm/bow/crossbow and marksman.

>>16333540
I'm not sure whether or not mutants are capped at 8 attacks for martial arts. What I do know about mutants is that they can get more neck slots for instance to pile on the that extra attack chance. So a mutant might be able to get 8 attacks more consistently than a non at the very least. Or, if mutants are not limited to 8 attacks, do more attacks.

I have no idea as to how many attacks a mutant can do mainly because I don't really hear much about the race and I don't play one. Not a lot of people get that far with one that I get to hear about.

As an additional side note, even once you cap martial arts and do 2d255, you can still raise your dice. Nefia cores that boost the martial arts skill can take you over the 2000 cap and make you do more than 2d255. So I do wonder what the damage would look like for a martial artist that made a martial artist specialized suit. Not sure if it's practical to give up resists from artifact fusion for such an endeavor but naturally I'm curious. A mutant would probably have an easier time dealing with resists and creating such a suit since they have more equipment slots available to them.

More info on how additional attacks work can be found here just above the comment section:

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Equipment_attributes
>>
>>16333924
To make it clearer about additional attacks with martial arts and hands since I seem to have kind of danced around the question instead of directly answering it, I'm not sure whether or not additional hands will boost your number of attacks with martial arts as I've never played one. The known cap for number of attacks with martial arts is 8 for creatures with two hands but I have no idea if a cap like that exists for mutants as well. A character with additional equipment slots can probably stack additional attack chance better than a character with default slots. Whether or not you can just stack so much additional attack chance to break the 8 cap is currently unknown. At the very least, you'll consistently get 8 attacks.

I just had a brainwave: 29-slot Mutant mount.

Mounts don't get the complicated body penalty. Body slots can be converted to Speed at 150 speed per slot if you're willing to farm a LOT of tears.

This is potentially the fastest you can ever be, beating out kokou + delta core + lulwy + max swimming.
>>
>>16334334
This is a neat idea. Reasons like this is why I kinda want to give mounts another look with my character Kai. I plan on making him a robot to mount/fly around in so I can experiment with stuff. I have every excuse to experiment with crazy body setups with a mech.

What monsters will give up is a bit different depending on the pet you use. I remember one time using a performer and that gave the cooking skill to the little girl. Another time I had to fuse a sage of Elea to get the cooking skill on another pet as the performer didn't give it.

The stats say the wyvern has 20k health, yet you're dealing 2 mil and it doesn't die. What's going on there?
>>
>>16334556
He probably really has around 200 to 400k HP. I weakened him down to around 20k before I sandbagged him as that's the requirement to use that item. Problem is that I do so much damage at this void floor level that I can't accurately capture my potential damage because the enemy dies before I get in the millions. So by sandbagging the enemy the enemy doesn't ever die and I can see those numbers.

I can definitely move on to deeper floors with tougher enemies but the reason why I'm still on floor 600 or so is mainly for my pet Saya. She stays alive well down here and seems to get AP for almost every enemy on these floors around 600. If she's doing alright at this level I might as well milk it until she stops getting AP from these floors.

the latest version of elonaplus pops up a page of garbled text in the browser. Any idea how to make it not do that?
>>
>>16334601
Latest version of Elona+ is 1.64 afaik. No problems running the game here and no garbled text in any browser. Are you talking about downloading the game off of the wiki? I believe one of the links takes you to the Japanese wiki. I wonder if your computer is not set up to support Japanese characters and that might cause the website to look odd. You would need to install Japanese characters onto your computer or browser. I'm sure there's a tutorial you can google to set it up if you need it.

Then the problem for you would be translating the Japanese characters of the website...can just run it through google translate or something like that.
>>
>>16334426

>>
>>16334664

For other people with the same problem (garbled page on startup in the Japanese version): switch 'net' to 0 in config.txt. I think it's just an error message because the server for net stuff is now deactivated.
>>
>>16334599
you should try the high-level awakened dungeons, just for fun. The great thing about it is you can ramp it up really fast (clearing a lvl 1000 dungeon will make lvl 1500 dungeons spawn, etc), and can still ramp back down using the hidden area in south tyris.

I think HP rises linearly as a function of level. If you're right and that wyvern has 200-400k HP at max constitution and lvl 910, a lvl 6666 wyvern would have less than 4 million HP. So having very high MA damage is probably overkill, compared to a weaker but AOE meteor that you can proc from the other side of the map, all without the danger of getting debuffed or having to get up in the face of monsters one at a time while ten of them gang up on you.
>>
>>16334808
I'm preparing to go against enemies with 20 million HP. Lv 6666 isn't the cap level although I did hear some people say it was. I have no idea what the cap level but my prior character was higher than level 6,666. Back when it was much easier to level your character through meteoring summoned spirits. That was nerfed though.

In light of enemies having 20 million HP a 3 million damage punch or a 1 million damage meteor I don't think will protect me from enemies descending on me and eventually mobbing me. So as funny as this sounds, I truly believe the power of friendship anime trope will help here. By this I mean having a nice party of very powerful pets at your side to help pour on the damage and hopefully keep you alive.

I haven't played Elona in a few years, but I've been on a roguelike binge recently and feel like playing the one that first snagged me. And properly, this time.

That said, glancing at the thread I can see people are playing a variety of different versions and/or Custom. I'm not entirely sure what version I should reenter Elona with. What's the major differences between the latest Custom, 1.63, and 1.64

EOP, if that matters.
>>
>>16335883
I think Custom is up to version 1.62, but I don't know about the differences between the three.
>>
>>16335883
The most recent version of Elona+, 1.64, just released recently and some players are playing that. Elona Custom is something you add to Elona+ for better English translations, English story cutscenes, game tweaks, and better pet AI. Elona Custom requires Elona+ to run. Elona Custom hasn't been updated to work with Elona+ 1.64 though. Elona Custom is meant to be run with Elona+ 1.62.

So the way I see it, players are probably playing Elona+ 1.62 with Elona Custom or they're playing Elona+ 1.64. The people probably playing Elona+ 1.62 are playing it for the pet AI and to experience the story with cutscenes.

The people playing 1.64 either already have experienced the majority of the story, can understand Japanese, or don't care about the story at all and are just doing their own thing because the game is a sandbox.

Not sure why people playing 1.63 wouldn't upgrade to 1.64 but I understand why some people don't want to update from 1.62 to 1.64 until Elona Custom comes out for 1.64. The only thought that comes to mind why people are playing 1.63 is because the dropbox download for Elona+ is for 1.63 and hasn't updated to 1.64 yet. To download 1.64 you need to follow the Japanese link and some people don't know how to navigate that site so they just use the easier dropbox link.

Fron states a far better quip than I as the quest I have started on South Tyris finally comes to a close. After I do a bit of exploring around lost Irva, I shall update to 1.64 just in time to collect that unique throwing item.

This victory is dedicated to Ivbeck the Noble, a man who joined our adventure earlier during the Festival of Jure and was killed in a friendly fire incident involving multiple automated mortars in the bid to collect ether to fight the Meshera. He was indispensable in the exploration of Rehmido, his quick-firing blaster vital against fighting Orphe and his legion of dark spirits. Ivbeck shall surely be missed by his family and friends.

>You were 22 years old.
>You were a devout worshiper of <Yacatect>(6400).
>You were celibate.
>Your fame was 0.
>Your luck was 0.
>You died.

Likewise, a moment is taken to acknowledge the other fallen:

>x1 Yerles Conbat Plane, Lost in a Dungeon
>x1 Younger Sister, Assassinated by an Assassin Lizard
>x1 Yerles Elite Machine Infantry, Killed by Malfunctioning Mobile Communication Equipment in Rehmido
>x1 Yerles Latest Outfit Soldier, Lost in Rehmido
>x2 Yerles Mortars, Lost in the Ancient Garden
>x2 Staff, one lost to the Security Systems of the Machine Fort, another killed by a Madling in the Wilderness
>x1 Jure Fanatic, Assassinated by an Assassin Lizard

Gone, but not forgotten (Inferno mode pet deaths enabled). A good way to coordinate your pets, including pulling heavily-injured ones out of harm's way is using tag mode on yourself and tagging with the beleaguered ally. This greatly reduces the chances they'll be damaged further, and gives you time to either heal or dismiss them.

Yeah, thought, there was about 15% loss, I guess fishing is still the best way to make money, at least for me.

Can you only feed one cute fairy? I have about 7 through ranches, and I fed three, but only the first dropped seeds? The first one dropped on the first food item I gave it, but the other two didn't at all even though I gave them about three food items.
I fed them my cooked fish, so I doubt the quality is the problem.
>>
>>16337010
I actually gain around profit by just reselling non-deed magic item though. A round from Palmia, Lumiest, 2 magic vendor and a general good vendor in my house cost me around 700k. My gold jump from 900k to 1.6m after one round.
>>
>>16337010
I don't really use the fairy myself. I have 7 statue of Kumiromi from the little sister quest, made a farm for herb seed and another for strange seed.

I had an Inn before I changed to magic shop. I can gain quite some profit by just selling beer and coffee from the strange seed farm. Even more if I resell the potion from the magic vendor.

Certain types of food absolutely refuse to sell from what I've noticed, the potatoes, cbochi and some others always stay in the shop when I get back. Sell those by yourself at a vendor instead.

I don't know if it's a bug or something, but those things will absolutely never sell, so don't bother leaving them on the floor in your shop.
>>
>>16337005
I already told you guys the shopkeeper has a max amount for sales.

I did some testing and max i could sell an individual item for was around 200k (2k neg cha with snak)

I also did some testing in my regular game and the max amount seems to go up by 300g every 2 or 3 level (im thinking 2), and probably slows down later.

I see. I'll keep playing to see if it fixes itself, thanks.
>>
I felt retarded, I spent 15 blessed potion of potential on the low level Defender, only to remember I can just give her money to raise the stat potential.
>>
>>16335728
After further testing I'm not sure any more. There's a pretty wide variance in what I rake in each day depending on what dishes I cook and what they are made of. A muskmelon parfait sells for 20x a grape sherbet etc...

Anyone with more shop experience who can weigh in?

Because you use public services such as etherwind shelters which we have mandated built at all inns. Also there are various dues and taxes levied upon you from other source. Mai: Oh I didn't know we were stopping by some villain's castle to dispose of him before we went home.

Kai: That villain's castle is actually my home. It just kind of turned out that way. At the very least it, the monsters in my employ should feel at home. I was on the road a lot in the past so I didn't really need a home but now that I don't need to travel as much I figured it was time to work on making a permanent residence.

Mai: At least the rooms look comfy enough.

Kai: My home isn't quite finished yet but the essentials are there. There's rooms for my servants, a waiting room to receive guests and to collect offerings, a throne room where people can come to discuss things with me, a mixed bath, a dining room, kitchen, and kitchen backroom.

Kai: And this is my room. You'll be sleeping here until work on your room is finished. Speaking of other rooms I plan on creating a forge/workshop where I will do my crafting and store my mount/robot for maintenance. I also intend to make an alchemy/wizard workshop, an armory, and a war room where I will discuss with my allies/pets strategy and yearly goals.

While I enjoy getting a palace for the 8 vendors I was always intimidated by the amount of space available and wasn't sure how I would use it if I were to construct my home. Taking inspiration from chaos forts and default shops I decided to just fill the entire map with a wall tile. In my case it was this purple dank wall tile.

I would then just need to hollow my home out to add rooms. Instead of worrying about the exact dimensions of my home and having to plan out in advance what my home would like like, I could just focus more on room design and add things as I thought them up. Picture kind of captures the process. I pretty much just stitched new rooms into the picture as I hollowed out my home to make new rooms. If I don't fill the entire map with rooms it will be easy to just replace the excess walls with outdoor tiles.

All pets can be relevant later on.

There's just a couple of considerations to keep in mind though when choosing a pet. Ease of training, bit flags, and skill dumps. There are probably other considerations people have but those are my personal big three.

Ease of training a pet largely revolves around a pet's INI score. The higher the INI score, the harder it is to train the pet to become stronger. Pet's with high INI scores spend more gold when visiting their trainers to recover attribute and skill potential. I remember one pet I had on my previous character that spent around 100k in gold each time she visited her trainer because her INI score was so high. Recovering potential is important for proper skill and attribute growth so pets need to be given gold. So if you're broke, like most of us when starting out, a high INI pet is not doing you any favors. They require lots of money to keep getting stronger.

A pet's INI score also determines ease of getting AP. Again, higher INI pets have a harder time getting AP. They need to fight stronger monsters from the very start to get AP compared to low INI pets. AP is a very valuable to a pet because you can trade in AP to an NPC named Leold for speed upgrades, special abilities/attacks, and for bonus points to level up your pet's skills. A pet with low INI will have an easier time gaining AP thus they will probably rise in skill level, speed, etc faster than higher INI pets.

So what pets will have higher INI scores? Pets that have a lot of speed right off the bat when you dominate or capture them and pets that start off at a high level that have good attributes right from the get go. Low INI pets are the opposite. They start with horrible speed, horrible attributes and are low level. Yet, low INI pets have the best power growth rates if you know how to work the system.

The reason why people earlier in this thread say the bell and quickling are horrible pets later on is because they have a high INI score due to their high starting speed. They sure are powerful when you first get them but due to their high INI scores they can be very tough to make stronger if you're not rich enough to fund their trainer fees and are not strong enough to fight the monsters that give them AP which is used to quicken their overall power growth.

Moving on to bit flags, with the advent of Custom and the ability to teach pets most of what a player knows, there isn't much really separating one pet from another insofar as special actions and spells. Even without Custom Leold can still offer some interesting abilities to pets that lack them. What can truly make a pet unique are bit flags. These bit flags can be considered special qualities that a group of pets have. One highly sought after bit flag is the cmetal bit flag. Any pet with this bit flag has 90% physical damage resistance. Bells for instance have this bit flag. However, with most things there is a catch as another anon has pointed out in the thread. The pets that have this bit flag tend to have horrible a horrible life attribute meaning they don't have a lot of HP.

Due to their low HP and ability to play the game for the player leading to the player to suffer from lack of skills at the proper later on, I view bells, or any cmetal pet, as a new player trap unless you know exactly what you're doing and manage your character well.

Finally, the last consideration is skill dumps. Specifically, what you should be putting your pet's bonus points into. Warrior like pets have 3 skill dumps for damage. A weapon skill, tactics, and an optional third skill whether that be two hand or dual wield. Range, firearms, archers, etc have 2 skill dumps. Weapon skill and Marksman. A wizard pet has just 1 damage skill dump. Casting. Hybrids can have any number of skill dumps. Up to the player if they want to treat Eye of Mind as a skill dump but generally I don't go out of my way to train it and just have it level up naturally.

So imo a wizard like pet with low INI is the fastest kind of pet to raise to power. You only need to pump casting to make them blow stuff up. Then it's either a ranged pet or a melee pet. A melee pet may take a little longer if you choose to pump dual wield or two hand.

I personally think people that are low level and starting out would have an easier time with pets if they just went for a low INI pet instead of trying to get some tentacle horror or crazy pet that starts out at high level. Pretty much any pet with an INI score similar to god reward pets or lower is good for people starting out.

Leave the higher INI pets for later once you're more established in the game and can defeat the monsters required to get them AP. Also leave the bit flag pets like cmetal pets for later when you can farm hero cheese. I have two pets currently. Saya, which started as a low lv Elea warrior I got from the slave trader and a little girl. Saya is an easy pet for me to grow in power. Low INI score and only 2 dump skills.

All the god pets are good. Golden Knight + Defender + Valyrie are a solid melee core that will keep you safe if you are a gunner/wizard/cleric. If you upgrade the android she will sometimes use fire a volley, so if you do that don't put any armageddon weapons in ranged slots of your melee bets or you might accidentally get fucked.

I know how that feels. I've learned to identify spellbooks to see what they are and I only read easy spellbooks until I get my literacy up and some levels for HP and MP to survive any mishap. Been reading spells with low mp costs. So far that has worked for me in avoiding too hard to read books.

>>
>>16341721
One of the failures is removing your Maximum MP from your current MP.

Ie: you have 100/100 MP, the failure will bring you at 0/100 MP, if instead you have 50/60 MP you will end up at -10 and take overcasting damage.
It probably sucked all your MP before, then ended up with the same failure again (thus putting you far into the negatives) and take massive overcast damage.

Tl;dr: Check yo MP when reading.

Though do not despair, once you reach enough Literacy (or Learning, can't remember) you get access to the Reading Party [W]ide action that stops failures from harming you (they can still happen, only they will not cause any effect but wasting the book's charge)

2420(base speed) -> 2862(speed buff) -> 3,414(Uncontrollable) -> 4021(Omega Shift Core)

I think that's all the buffs I can get currently for speed. So my max speed buffed is 4021(4246 wet). Character considers Jure his friend so no Lulwy speed buff for me.

While I was buffed like this I decided to see how much damage I could do. So instead of casting speed I casted hero. I also gave myself attribute, clear mind, and abyss in the eye. Abyss in the eye helps eye of mind so in turn it helps my crit chance. Sandbagged a minotaur, casted mist of frailness on it and then threw a rotten tomato at him.

I managed to do 23,796,902 damage in one action where I punched the minotaur 8 times. Highlighted in red in my picture. So for a brief moment, I punched so hard that I could kill a creature with the supposed HP cap of 20 million with change leftover in one action. I might have been able to milk it for more if I lead off with a charge attack coupled with a gauge attack. At any rate, if I was the chaos god I'd be afraid at the prospect of an angry Kai going all out. Certainly would not want to go 1vs1 with him.

Jure in my game lives in my character's father's house along with the rest of the gods(Astral Penned) minus Yacatect head cannon wise. Although I could always have my father send her over to my home.

Head cannon wise, I'm pretty sure the gods have mixed feelings about their fate. Mani, Lulwy, and Itzpalt probably hold some resentment over being brought low by my character's father. Ehekatl, Opatos, Kumiromi, Jure, and Yacatect have adjusted better.

My character's father was in pursuit of ultimate power to combat the encroaching chaos of the void that the gods refused to deal with so he ripped the symbols of their power from the gods(inner god weapons) to use for himself. He also went a step further and ripped their very god essences out of them(my explanation for the god reward penalty for recruiting them using an astral pen). So they all became mortals albeit powerful mortals. My father took them all in into his household to help them adjust to mortal life as a feeble attempt to atone for the sin of challenging the gods. Regardless of their feelings on their mortal state and opinions of my character's father, it's not like they could go against him due to his power.

My character was born into the Kai household surrounded by these gods and expected to carry on my father's goal of exterminating the threat in the void. My character's mother and friend of the family, Akeno(pro-jet that grew to human proportions and became one hell of a warrior) taught my character martial arts and it wasn't a good training session unless there was 50k worth of property damage and my character was covered in cuts and bruises. Jure neesan was always there to treat my character after the sessions and became the nurturing older sister type to him.

The gods pretty much acted as my teachers on various matters although some were certainly better teachers than others. Eventually my character set off into the world on his own and when my character grew in sufficient strength and prosperity, I was sent Yacatect to further help me out. She might not be much of a fighter but she's one hell of a shopkeeper. Headcannon wise I don't see my present character killing the gods so much as just sparring with my old teachers for the right to wield their symbols of power.

Huh. I always assumed you were just a family of stone cold god killers thinking it would be better for the world based on your other posts.

Almost makes me feel a bit sad for him. If he didn't want to deconstruct everything of course.

Does platinum song really affect all allies? I recruited Karavika for the Melodyus but when she uses Platinum song it only affects herself.

Yeah I can see him losing it. Hope he could be reformed to just be the god of the elements instead of god of the elements and oh by the way I want to destroy everything. Although bringing down the gods was a means to an end to help my previous character/father travel further down in the void he had every motivation to knock down a peg the gods that were antithetical biological life. Itzpalt for destroying everything and Mani for wanting to turn everything into a machine.

Lulwy was showing signs of becoming a spiteful god that didn't treat her followers well. Going after Ehekatl's staff to fuel my character's father's magic power brought Kumiromi's wrath for hurting her and Opatos got brought into the battle due to looking for a good fight. Jure had to be put down due to her healing the gods

and Yacatect

Yeah she probably just got bullied for the hell of it due to being a god killing completionist

It should be noted that according to the lore posted a few threads back, Jure cannot be physically killed by normal means, or at least doesn't demote in the same way the other gods do when defeated. This ties in nicely to her being able to remain existing as an object of worship: one could say that you indirectly caused her to become the main, perhaps for now only real goddess left.

Noted. I personally wouldn't mind her being the only goddess left. If only she would work on that tsundere aspect so that the heals come quicker.

When will my character learn charge attack if I don't learn it through AP?

According to wiki it seems that my character will learn it at some point in story.

I would demote Yacatect to be my mortal waifu, the winds would make sleeping together complicated anyway

What are the best body parts to gene engineer? I'm raising a dragon fire child, so I should be able to add quite a few new parts.

Add nothing but bodies to your dragon. It might be the fattest dragon to ever grace Elona but Imagine how high its PV will be due to all the armor it can equip.
