The official story is that she voluntarily resigned, the "real" story is that she resigned / was dismissed for being unable to show up, and the "real real" story that she told later was that Namco would have let her continue, and she wanted to continue, but that her manager tendered her resignation for her.

I thought I had written it, but just to add - the official story (which I don't think anybody bought) was that she was quitting to focus on her solo career as a singer. There was a rather friendly double interview with her and Azumi both, about Yukiho and IM@S in general when it happened.

I think that with IM@S, the line between character and seiyuu gets blurred a little more than it does with most regular anime. The seiyuu do a lot of appearances "as characters" in live concerts and stuff.
