Is it okay to talk about Japanese live action on /jp/?

Of course
I love Japanese live action movies but I just find with action or thriller/horror most of them hard to get into. Gone are the days of Battle Royal and Audition gritty style of filming. Now we seem to just have these weird movies with over the top blood. It really saddens me that I feel South Korea for the last 5-10 years are really spot on when it comes to those said genres

Most of them are rather cheap and can't afford decent special effects.

See another great example, silly cheap cgi and over the top blood. A far cry from the likes of Battle Royal and Audition. Unless it's a cultural thing with the over the top blood then I will remain annoyed but stop ranting

Are they going to make more Kenshin movies?
I thought they were pretty cool to be honest.
I really, genuinely enjoyed the first. The second and third tried really hard to be serious and the tone + pacing didn't really work. They should've either not done the Kyoto Arc, or abandoned some of the characters they felt compelled to insert. This is a servicing the fans but ruining the film problem.
Not to mention, Kaoru is a fragile character and they basically made her useless.
Japanese are not good at acting. I'm sorry but it's true. Every live action Japanese production I've seen was so overacted in everything it was cringeworthy. It's like they think their audience are retards and they need to exaggerate everything or they won't get it.

Honestly I think it has more to do with the ambiguity that comes through in spoken Japanese, so they have to make up for it through body acting and such.

I won't compare japanese acting and hollywood acting, because I like how japanese do their acting. Those weird and overact things are their things ! Although I could say not all of them are doing those kind of actings, you can see from the genre of movies, even the actors
