I'm a guitarfag, so I've been learning a few songs from pic related. I've mastered seppette for a dead princess, and necrophantasia is coming along slowly but surely. Feel free to share and discuss what music you can play on any instrument.
>>
The only thing I'm able to play on a keyboard is The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky and I'm not even that good playing it.
>>
>>16291004
Last time I fucked around on my sister's piano I managed to make locked girl sound okay.
But since I don't actually play piano it probably sounds terrible to someone who knows what they're doing.
>>
>>16291004
Everything I try to improvise on the piano eventually becomes a variation on either Pachebel's Canon or Crimson Tower ~ Eastern Dream.
>>
All of it. My computer is an MP3 player.
>>
I can do some stuff by ear on a piano whenever I'm around a piano. But I don't own a piano.
>>
I tried playing Doll Judgement but I suck.
How do I get gud at piano
>>
I wish I had the motivation and money to learn an instrument ;_;
>>
>>16296025
>How do I get gud
For piano, it's a combination of loving it, having fun, and practising.
>>
Aaaaa, I was learning necrophantasia, but it's /toodifficult/ for me atm. I just upgraded my guitar and I need to get used with it BEFORE learning any hard songs. ú_ù
>>
How do I learn how to play the keyboard? And there any good resources?
>>
>>16296768
Well, if you need any other tabs or something, just drop a request and I can link you to where I find all mine. As for necrophantasia, it is challenging at first, but I found it was not as terrible as I thought it would be. Probably because it had a very constants beat, and no crazy parts where you need to start playing 16th notes or some shit.
>>
Clarinetfag here.
Can play:
Theme of Eastern story
Eternal Shrine Maiden
Bad Apple!! (The LLS version.)
A soul as red as a ground cherry
Septette for a dead Princess
U.N. Owen was her
Phantom ensemble
Necrofantasia
Deaf to all but the song
Love colored Master Spark
Voyage 1969
Reach for the moon Immortal smoke
Broken Moon
Wind God girl (without the intro, it's hard as Fuck)
Judgment in the sixteen year
The Gensokyo the god loved
Native Faith (Without the fast parts, see Wind God girl)
Satori Maiden third eye
Lullaby of deserted hell
Captain Murasa
Frozen Capital of Eternity (Can't play the cool piano solo, but I'm working)
The sea where the one's home planet reflects
And Greenwich in the sky.
I wish someone would play with me though, clarinet alone is boring.

Is it as feasable to learn how to play the piano the same way it is to learn how to draw at home ? I already have the keyboard from the time I used to take classes, but I only got as far as playing Ode to Joy with one hand, pretty much anyone can do that.
Now I actually wanna learn it but I'm pretty lost.
>>16296816
Seconding this anon's post.
>>
>>16298232
I love that one, but I went on a trip before I could memorize it and never picked it back up. It sounds so relaxing when you play it slowly!
>>
>>16298193
This may sound stupid, but can the clarinet play chords and stuff, or can it only play 1 note at a time? I've never really messed with any wind instrument other than the recorder in second grade.
>>
I can do Hisouten, Saigetsu and Border of Life on classical guitar. I use these guys' tabs, they're a blast to play!

When I took lessons as a kid I used Bastien's books. I would reccomend lessons if you can afford them but considering you're likely on NEETbux you'll probaly just want to go for Bastien, Hanon's exercises, John Thompson, etc. If your keyboard has midi support Synthesia might help a bit too.
>>
I can play Shanghai Teahouse, Because Princess Inada was Scolding Me, Path of the Apotropaic God, Charming Domination, Lunate Elf, Beloved Tomboyish Daughter and A Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry on piano. I just got an EWI so now I'm sight reading things like Broken Moon on that.
>>
>>16299352
Second guy here, I'm not on NEETbux but I've got another budget problem, time budget. I live right next to where some pretty cool dudes teach piano lessons (They taught me the basics), but I won't have any time to visit them because my free time will be at nights only.
I guess I'll try those exercises, thanks. /blog
>>
>>16299539
>EWI
I hope you're doing the EWI covers from that one EWI guy
>>
>>16299558
Who, Winn ? Well, that guy does porn better than he plays, but he's kinda nice I guess.
>>
>>16296816
>>16298383
>>16299551
It's easy. First you need a keyboard. A MIDI controller will also suffice. Then learn basic music theory, mainly just what major and minor scales sound like, and basic chord structure. Nothing too complicated, just play different notes at different (or the same) times that are on the same scale, and in sync with a constant beat (time signature). Then just have fun playing chords, learning chord progressions, changing the structure of the chords and rhythms to keep things interesting. Finally, you will end up with your first original song. I'm not a professional, but I play by ear and can make some pretty good stuff without knowing what it looks like on sheet music. Music is about emotion.
>>
>>16300149
This is good advice, but I would still recommend learning to read sheet music, right from the start. Playing freely by ear is invaluable, but if you want to play stuff other people wrote, and you will need that to learn advanced techniques, being able to read sheets is a must.
>>
I tried to learn Flower of Japan on guitar by ear a while back, but I forgot about it. I should get back to it, unless there's already tabs of it somewhere out there and I'm awful at searching as usual.
>>
>>16298634
Nope, only one note at a time.
>>
>>16299185
I can do it, but it will take some time since I don't have my clarinet right now. Even more time if you want more than just the single melody, since I would have to play all the part separately to mix them together. And it will also probably suck since I don't have a decent recording material.
>>
Every now and then I'll play Beyond Planck in an Instant on my keyboard. It start off easy then gets harder towards the climax, much to how it usually sounds.
>>
>>16301769
God, and I thought just playing solo guitar was lonely.
>>
>>16291004
I play stuff like The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky and Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes on tenor sax. It's not really the best instrument to arrange Touhou songs for.
>>
so what can I learn on bass? something not to hard since i'm a beginner????¿¿?¿?
>>
>you will never start a doujin 2hu music circle with fellow /jp/sies
why must life be cruel and painful
>>

Seems like a big hassle, no need to do it if it's going to be a bother.

>>
I want to play 2hu songs but I'm too shit at guitar.

How do I motivate myself to get better.
>>
>>16310932
Try simple tabs first. If you actually have success and hear yourself get better, it will be a lot easier for you to motivate yourself. I don't know your skill level, but here is a link to some pretty easy tabs. I recommend "solo guitar for a dead princess" and "bloom nobley/border of life". (Make sure use use a capo on the second fret for dead princess and on the third fret for border of life, as the tabs are messed up a bit.)
http://www.geocities.jp/oshibascore/special1102.html
>>
>>16303995
Not with that attitude you won't. What's stopping you doing something like /a/'s Orchestr/a/ but focused on composing and playing 2hu related tracks? I'd contribute.
>>
I can do a boatload on clarinet by ear
>>

Here's some classical guitar tabs I've collected from various places, if anyone's interested. They're mostly hard stuff though.

I used to have harmonica. I shouldve learned some touhou songs
>>
>>16312101
I thought /a/ just did a lame sing along to a random anime thing. Do they actually use instruments?
>>
>>16312814
Different guy but they do both now, they have orchestr/a/ threads and /a/ sings threads
>>
>>16312847
Well, cool. I'll organize something if people are willing to play. I have no fucking idea what I'm doing, but why the hell not. I actually just looked up the orchestr/a/ thing, and it seems they all play parts separately and then someone combines them with a program. I think I could manage that, but I'm interested to know what people could/want to play.
>>
>>16312814
One of the groups is a lame singalong thing and there's another, completely separate group that transcribes songs from anime for instruments (with no vocals). Some of their tracks ain't bad but I can imagine that the whole thing takes a lot of work.

Thanks a lot for this mang. I found the same necrofantasia tab two weeks ago but i only know a little bit of it.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1j5MTuASvmz
>>
>>16312854
I can play but I can't compose anything. I think orchestr/a/ uses a titanpad for organizing things
>>
>>16303995
I thought that /jp/ already did music compilation.
>>
>>16314517
I think that vocaroo's encoding fucks up your recording's quality really bad. I don't think there's anything you can do aside from hosting them elsewhere. I don't know any alternative though, aside from converting them into webm and hosting them on the many sites dedicated to them.

Nice playing though. UN Owen sounds like a lot of fun to play.

I wish I wasn't utter shit at transcribing songs to classical guitar. There really isn't enough tabs on the internet.
>>
>>16315511
https://clyp.it/ is much better.
https://clyp.it/2zeq2bio (recorded through audacity then uploaded)
https://clyp.it/f0jn2b1o (recorded using the site's live recording feature)
>>
>>16314547
Yeah, I've been looking into exactly how /a/ does things, and it might actually be harder than I thought. I'm still going to try to teach myself how to combine sound files, but if anyone here knows anything about stuff like this, feel free to say something. If no one says anything, I'll just start a thread in a while requesting people to fill parts for a fairly simple song.
>>
>>16315599
Their mixing is a fairly standard job in Reaper from what I understand which shouldn't be too difficult to learn. The difficulty obviously comes from the transcribing of the music itself which is even more of an issue for us if the aim is to write our own 2hu based tracks.
>>
>>16316607
Honestly, I was thinking of just starting out with song that just has like 3 or 4 parts, just for a test run. We wouldn't even try to be original, we would literally just copy a song to see how hard it is to organize. I think that "accept bloody fate" may be a good place to start, as it only involves 2 electric guitars, drums, and a bass guitar, plus it's so damn easy to learn. But I'm up for anything.
Tell me if this song is a shithead idea btw: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Join9bi95k
>>
>>16316825
I know that drums are always hard to organise for this kind of thing. I'd be very surprised if it'd be easy or even possible to find a regular of the board who cares enough to do something like this, has a full drum set, has the competence required in playing them and has the means to record their playing well.

It sounds simple enough apart from that but I know next to nothing about electric guitars so I'm afraid I won't be much help.
>>
Newfriend here

I can play Night of Nights, Shangai Tea House, U.N, Bad Apple and one with Cirno teaching math. But only in the piano, I can't play anything good in the guitar.

Also, where I can find more Touhou related piano covers on YouTube? i only found Marasy
>>
>>16321684
Holy shit, they are everywhere. You just haven't looked hard enough.
>>
>>16304195
I haven't played the flute in 5 years and this is the only part I still have memorized from the duet I played with a friend in highschool.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1Jnv2Y1OQYM

Thanks for encouraging me to pick it up again, /jp/
>>
>>16304286
Nice!
>>
>>16323706
You should relearn all of bad apple. It sounded really good! (except for the heart attack that the recording gave me at the begining!)
>>
>>16321684
Btw, I think you just gave half of /jp/ an anurism. (The one where Cirno teaches math, lol). However, I can just say piano covers seem pretty easy to find for me. Just type in "(song title) piano" and there should be some kind of playable remix. If you can learn a cool remix of Cinderella Cage I'll fucking jizz my pants, because it's my favorite touhou song but it's impossible to play on the guitar.
>>
>>16323790
Thanks a bunch! And sorry, I keep my fan really loud because I'm embarrassed of being heard by my parents.
>>
>>16326453
No shit. I would never play these songs in public anyways, cause if people knew where they were from I'd probably die from shame.
>>
Can play some of the easier piano arranges, but stuff like voyage 1969 is out of my league
>>
>>16326579
Why? It's not like it's from porn or anything. Just say it's from a video game.
>>
>>16326579
Every time i play U.N owen was her and Ladutorm chateau from dragon quest in public people always think is classical music and ask me for the name of the songs. I always lie to them and say i can't remember.
>>
>>16326826
Well, I don't want them to start asking "oh which one" or something like that. I do not want to be associated with this stuff irl in any way, because I think a lot of people on /jp/ sometimes forget that touhou is a game where you fly around as magical girl and shoot other girls with magic bullets. They are great games, but for most people it's really strange. Maybe that's not as cringy in Japan or something, but in the Midwestern United States it's weird as shit.
>>
>>16326988
>touhou is a game where you fly around as magical girl and shoot other girls with magic bullets
I don't see what's so shameful about that. And if you don't want to say the japanese name, just say "Perfect Cherry Blossom" or something. Most people aren't going to check what it is and those whose do aren't going to think as much of it as you think they would.
>>
>>16327028
It's anime. Is that a good enough answered? I don't know if your from Japan, Europe, or wherever, but in rural/suburban Missouri it's pretty weird to like touhou. I mean, if I'm going to be honest, I've never read a doujin, watched an anime other than pokemon, or attended a convention. However, I like touhou music and the games. Unfortunately for me, if I ever admit that, I get grouped in with the "hardcore weebs".
>>
>>16327081
>It's anime
But it's not.
>>
>>16327095
Close enough.
>>
>>16327081
You're way too self conscious, no one gives a shit unless you shove your interests down their throat. You don't have to shout out "I like cute girls from a Japanese video game!" but you're crazy to think that anyone will bat an eyelid if they overhear you playing a tune from 2hu. I used to be as paranoid about these kind of things as you clearly are but it's a hell of a lot easier to loosen up a bit.
>>
>>16327081
Lol. I just got pissed and went on a bit of a "woe is me" rant. Sorry bout that.
>>
>>16300149
>>16300288
Both of these.

I've got a bachelors in classical guitar performance but through college I learned to play piano pretty well. Through a combination of music theory and basic reading anyone can make a lead sheet of any 2hu tune and figure the chords with the left hand and melody on the right hand.

To work it at home you need to be incredibly self driven though, nobody will push you other than yourself.

It's always fun playing background music at a gig and busting out lunatic princess or septette for the dead princess in a jazzy.

>>16291004
Flight of the Bamboo Cutter and Flower-studded sake on Mt. Ooe on piano are all I've got.

Here's a touhou piano album that I've loved since I got into touhou (by the music actually) in 2007/8. I hope you enjoy it!

The track I linked if my favourite by the way, the build up from 2 minutes on still gives me the chills after all these years.

I think it was a pretty well known piano album back in the day but it seems to have fallen into obscurity if youtube views are any indicator. I'm happy to be able to share it!
>>
>>16328890

I play guitar. I'm not a great player, only trying to vaguly improve myself over the time

Ok, the only thing I play for real is End of Summer. It's an easy one, on A Minor (there isn't that much of A Minor songs, right?), and it's short; I have to work on a way to put a conclusive end, or making it larger, something like adding a "solo", a Dm chord and stuff- the heck, I never do this stuff, but is a goal.
Oh, and Seihou's Battle Airspace too.
(heh A Minor songs. I even like to try and play the intro of Herselves)

I'd like to play some other songs... but the tabs online are out of my level.
My dream is to rock out with Star Voyage 2008
