Going through the story now with my meager nip knowledge and kanjitomo at the ready, but if someone's better at this I'd appreciate their word.

So far, some sort of shit from the Lunar Capital has caused Reimu to act (weird waves/interference). Rumors/A bad feeling. Reisen noticed it too while on patrol but was gonna go to bed before Reimu came up on her. They also talk about how people are still abusing the recent Urban Legend incident (Reimu included). Reisen is using Kune Kune

And of course, moon problems means Reimu is going to beat the shit out of Eientei folks first thing.

Spell Cards got made to make power levels less relevant, anyone can beat anyone. The only difference in power than someone will win more often than the other, like Reimu mostly always winning against Marisa.

If the new boss has the ability to switch powers/bodies I await the body swap doujins.

Until they actually exist as a character in the series who knows if they exist, ZUN actually dodged the question of if Tsukiyomi exists. Being as vague as ever has specifically said at this point nobody even knows who is the real ruler or if something of the like even exists in the Lunar capital.

Only things we've seen established are as follows.

We know Eirin is effectively the embodiment of Omoikane but ZUN has said even at the peak of her status as a respected and probably most intelligent Lunarian sage she was considered low ranked. Then you have Kaguya as well who despite being of royal blood is considered a offshoot of the family with no actual status.

Then we know about Chang'e who is effectively royalty only in name as a puppet ruler, she is a prisoner and hostage. The moon rabbits are loyal to Chang'e and the Lunarians use this fact to keep them sub-servant to them and turned Chang'e into a toad as well to prevent her ever escaping or being rescued.

Sagume Kishin is effectively the highest ranked Lunarian sage we know of at the moment but her loyalty is questionable. We know she is half native god and she was the one who hesitated to do the full blown re-location plan. The other Lunarians wouldn't have bat an eyelid if they steamrolled Gensokyo. However we also know the Urban Legend incident was Sagume's personal doing.

We also know Sagume is going to be a pivotal character in some future arc, Marisa's ending teased this much with Yukari specifically singling out Sagume for her future plans.

The only Native gods currently known of are the Moriya Shrine crew and Sagume (she's half amanojaku) at this point. If you go by the Takamagahara myth she would be Amanosagume who was a half Heavenly God/Tengu and considered a evil goddess who was the origin of all Amanojaku.

So ZUN is defintiely brewing something up but it's to be seen where it all leads.

In a similar way, Kaguya would be descended from gods at some point, but is probably way further down the chain and younger than e.g. the Watatsukis.
