It's called A Cup of Moondust, and it's about moon myths, finding one's place in the world, substance abuse and fuzzy bunnies.

It's very fast structure of the stage before prototyping. There are some silly words describing the enemy behavior (like rypäs = cluster etc). That is first revision of the first stage. That particular stage naturally is not in the game anymore.

Going straight for the Unity. Without programming experience I would suggest Game Maker Studio. I think that it's actually better platform for most "pure 2d" projects compared to Unity and it's very easy to learn and use.

Please remember that engines and frameworks are just tools. You should use the tools what gets you from start to finish with the least amount of struggle. Basic concepts of the game development are the same regardless what tools you use. That knowledge transfers from project to another and engine to another engine.

Making the games are hard. You will be daily out of your comfort zone and you will hit your head to the wall countless of times. When you understand that and learn to bear with it there's nothing to stopping you. You can do it.

Now go pick engine what fits your plans of the project, start learning things right away and make great games. Never give up.

Hello. I made a little trace based on a friend's character in PSO2. I like to color things but I've never attempted to color hair like artists usually do.

I've looked up some tutorials on SAI but there's so many and every one is always slightly different on regards to layers and selection and clipping layers and brushes used... can /jp/ artists recommend a quick and dirty way or tutorial to color hair that doesn't go too in-depth into the software? I'd rather it be efficient enough that I can get it done in an hour or two and not spend the entire afternoon doing it, because when it gets to that point, I look back at it and realize I'm not satisfied with it at all and get really demotivated to draw.

I can't help with coloring hair specifically as I am no good at it either, but try to draw the lines of each strand of hair (not singular hairs) so you know which movement you could follow.

This might have been the longest I ever spent on rough body sketches, but it was worth the time as I think they came out pretty good. The left and middle ones are supposed to depict the same pose from different angles. I think the hands could have been placed better and the middle ones head turned out a tad to big in comparison, but otherwise I'm quite satisfied.
Can't hurt to get some more opinions though, what do you guys think?

It's bad, just relax, stretch often when drawing, take breaks, use a towel.

A while back Doodle or Die experienced a brief resurgence and I got a lot of practice drawing random prompts with the mouse, but aside from that the only things I actually draw are just doodles or small concepts of things I think would be interesting, and I typically never flesh out any of them.

It took me around 30 to 45 minutes each, I think. You can't tell because of the digital overhaul (originally a traditional drawing) but I sketched a lot with pencil first and made quite some mistakes.

Also, I mostly just listen to music which then gives me ideas for things to draw randomly - Or I decide to practice a certain thing, like anatomy or perspective, and then come up with some poses to portray.

I'm not him, but I think I can answer that somwhat well.
What's important with muscles is that you learn from the source; meaning look at real muscles or at least accurate anatomic portrayals of the. That way you learn the muscles' placement in a very universal and intuitive way. You have to look at how and from where exactly they grow, where they are connected etc. to get the feeling down. If you manage to do/learn that, you can pretty much apply and stylize as much as you like.

so, skim through "The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" to get a grip on how things translate from space to paper(don't even do the exercises, it's like a 30 min read), and draw with cylinders. as in, first draw your animee girl from cylinders and spheres and shit(you should be able to project those correctly once you read the chapter on perspective, and if you don't know how proportions work just find a good animee picture and measure it), then add detail. i believe you will be surprised how much you can already draw.

I have not. I was thinking maybe like a simple side scroller too but I think everyone makes those. although from what I've seen when looking at indie stuff everyone else seems to go down the metroidvania route which I don't get why. I much prefer metal slug due to its simplicity and how fun it is.

So I've considered that too. I never really played myst games but maybe I'll think about it. I think it's just the little things that I'd have to program or do that start to build up and make me hit a wall.

I think it's partially because people call sidescrollers Metroidvanias largely if they aren't obviously imitating Mario or Megaman or Kirby or Sonic or old level based Castlevania instead. Like if you can backtrack or explore at all, it's a Metroid or Metroid-like Castlevania game.

Exploration is fun though, and so is the fake freedom those types of games give in progression. I haven't really seen many run and gun Metal Slug or Contra type indie/doujin games though. Might be interesting.

I've never played Myst itself either but I've played games in that genre. If I could art, I'd probably try doing something like that myself. It's basically just a first person version of point and click games.
