It's a pretty great game! But is not as popular as other fighting series. Same with melty blood, even thought it got a steam release it wasn't very popular. At least it has the merit of being the best fighting touhou game.

it essentially zombified still played by countless small touhou communities everywhere. its contents which have many playable touhou characters that make it still valids even now.

ULiL by far the most brushed up touhou fighting games installation is very neat and with new fun mechanic still feel lacking to me when pressuring and comboing. due to awkward floating control, but it is better than HM.

Bottom line, Zun should bring elegant maid into ULiL instead of moon-rabbit to make it valid.

The developers themselves hate soku and all of the previous fighting games they made. Soku was clearly the most popular fighting game and ULiL the least popular (Even less popular than HM) but they still thought that porting over ULiL to the PS4 was a better idea than soku.

Tasoforo is basically like the Smash Bros development team after Melee's release. They hated how people were able to play the game well so they went out of their way to ruin the next release by making it harder to play the games well. The thing is that the Smash team realized their mistake while Tasoforo got progressively worse. They even tried to make Soku more "Casual" with the weather and card system but that failed when it ended up getting the biggest competitive scene, so they went all out with HM and ULiL by ruining the whole game instead.

Many years ago, there was once an alternative to IRC that tried to make Soku more fair at high levels by instilling their own set of rules. This involved preventing more than 3 of the same cards and preventing blockstrings in corners that lasted more than 10 seconds.

They named these blockstrings "Corner Assaults".

They are now long gone, but they were an interesting group.
