Have you tried Baidu? You're almost guaranteed to find what you're looking for there, no matter how obscure and dated it is. Alternatively you could shell out money for the game at DLsite, but if you're anything at all like me, you'd rather take hours digging through Google search results than do that.

Okay so hold up, autistic akikuru questions incoming.

They said paying money for food transfers "ownership" of the food over to them, allowing them to take it home and eat it and digest it and presumably not have the poop reform back into bread the next morning, and while yes, unless I misunderstood, that implies will or belief has dominion over matter in this town, it seems like a thing that will be adequately explained later.

What I want to know is, how does that work over the course of the weeks? Can they run out of food? Does it replenish itself, or are they taking a copy of it somehow? I mean otherwise if they eat enough lunch breads then the WSPs won't have any to "eat"; won't that disrupt the looping?

Or am I just overthinking a relatively innocuous handwave for how they have food?

Consider this. What was considered a pleasant subversion to the norm that validated relationship between two siblings have now become so commonplace, it has become the industry norm as well as a giant cliche. I'd think any appeal that lack of blood relation might have had would have been drowned out by an ever-growing disdain for an overused cop-out, and that's not taking into account people who didn't care for such convenient plot device in the first place.

Anyway, I'm done with purple and it was standard I suppose. So if you don't find most of the cast unappealing and like the style it shows from early on.. go for it? Has some silly drama of course.
Every now and then the game does speak the truth though. Although the lack of a fourth wall and somewhat lack of self-awareness in addition to that feels.. weird. (like commending on "raw sex" being an "unrealistic eroge scene" and it being "bad".. in one of the most typical eroge scenarios you can think of is kinda.. uh)

>blonde

There are not enough blondes (with routes).

Speaking of which, I find it funny how EGS has a heroine-tag for black hair. 99% of all eroge have at least one girl with black hair.. why is that even there? I mean sure not ALL have them (I actually just started one that doesn't and the previous title didn't have one either.. the next one does though. Kuru Kuru) but you really gotta search if you want that.. (or choose something with only one girl or whatever)
>>
>>16167401
I dunno, man. Blonde heroines are pretty commonplace in eroge. Out of all the eroge I've played this year, Leyline trilogy had one (two if you count platinum blonde), Hitoren had one, Otome Domain had two (once again, counting platinum blonde), Hanasaki Work Spring had one, and the one I'm playing right now, Majo Koi Nikki, has one that I'm not too far away from. The only exception I came across so far was Sakuuta, really. Blonde heroines might not be as ubiquitous as heroines with black hair, but they're definitely one of the more numerous types.
>>
>>16165509
I agree with this opinion. That waist and those arms look downright painful. Plot reasons or not, large busts don't look good with anything but large bodies and petite bodies only goes well with small.

That's true though. Oh piss off. The only thing worse than moebuta is people who act like eroge writers are the most intelligent and talented people alive. If he was writing "nobel prize" books he wouldn't be as good, because only very restricted, conforming-to-the-norms stuff gets there. How odd
>>
>>16171130
The original game sold only 300-400 points, has a bad score at EGS and it wasn't popular at bbspink at all, so I fail to see how it was popular enough to sell as one of the top sellers of 2016.

I mean yes it has boobs and erotic art, but definitely didn't thought that it'd be succesful enough to get 5th-6th place of the entire year.
>>

Apparently, the fandisc is listed as non-nukige on egs while the original is listed as nukige. Pretty strange considering it's usually the other way around.

Finished SeaBed and Chuusotsu this week. Here’s a few of my opinions on them.

I really liked SeaBed.
- The mystery of the game set up very nicely and progressing through the game you always get new hints to what is going to happen. It doesn’t hide what it is yet it still makes sure that you’ll be interested in progressing.
- It's not really a yuri game in the sense that girl’s love is never really a theme in this game, even though there are a few kissing scene between the heroines.
- The atmosphere is this game really is something special and definitely one of this games strongest points.
- Despite the large amount of text the game has it never feels like the writing is sloppy and it’s overall very consistent, which is usually a problem with doujin titles. That coupled with a great amount of background images, CGs and really fitting BGM really makes it feel like a complete product.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone here to at least try.

Chuusotsu however, was a big disappointment to me.
- While I really liked the premise and the setting, I thought the execution of the game was pretty bad.
- I liked the protagonist at the start but the game pretty much forced me to be disgusted with her by the end. On the other hand, the other side characters felt weird at the start but I got to like them by the end.
- The writing while unique is pretty strange and often off-putting.
- I admit the ending is satisfying and despite my general disappointment with the game, I’m still interested in the continuation.
- I think this game only appeals to a very specific demographic and there’s a slim chance an average eroge player would like it.
From what I’ve seen I’m in the minority with these opinions so I’d still recommend it to anyone who finds the VNDB description interesting.
>>
>>16172406
>try Seabed

I did. Horribly annoying music and the utter failure of a start it has made me stop after a not too long while. If I'd ever continue it then muted for sure. Well, I guess it's very low budget doujin, so the music was like free stuff I suppose.

That said, the beginning is really not good if you ask me. It's just random scenes about characters I don't know (yet), to the point it even gets a mess in regards to "who says what" when there's a whole page of dialogue interchanges without any narrative. The scenes have also no chronologic approach and are literally all over the place. I'm sure the game shows what it's about at some point, but eh. Heck you even unlock some "tip" or something at some point, which is just another short scenario which feels utterly random. I stopped after that. After getting a glorious story about a girl and her goldfish escaped in the past, two girls talking about random shit including books, milk and I dunno what and a random room inventory by a some character somewhere I don't know or whatever that was.
I feel like if Seabed is actually good, then maybe a reason for it not being know is this beginning. Or it's just not my thing.
>>
>like ecchi manga

Why is this? I guess because in manga there's subtle lewdness, new poses and expressions on every page but moege only has that in h scenes and implication/teasing -> actual fucking. Maybe that's just me
>>
>>16172558
There's also time to consider. VNs have fuckhuge amounts of text, whereas an ecchi manga may only have like 100 lines a chapter if that. It may be fun to read some ecchi manga but not so much to read a tome of heavy flirting with dry narration filling everything.

Cliches that need to disappear from VNs:

>making the protagonist's life a living hell is funny

>>
>>16174196

It cheapens the heroines and the whole story if the protagonist has the personality of a paper towel. When faced with a romance, you're inevitably going to ask "Why choose this person? Why not somebody else?" Why the protagonist finds the heroine charming is usually answered in great detail, but why does the heroine like the protagonist? "Because he's nice." So are lots of other guys, especially when it comes to prime breeding material (which these heroines are generally supposed to be; they wouldn't be hurting for options), and they have more personality than a paper towel. Also, in many cases, the protagonist is not nice so much as he is passive.

Why, then? I'll tell you why. Because the protagonist is a Gary Stu, and the universe bends around his convenience. The heroines literally exist to suck his dick. It's not a believable relationship between characters who seem like human beings, even after accounting for quirks being played up for charm and comedy.

It also means that the character interactions aren't going to be as interesting as they could be if they had two interesting characters interacting instead of one interesting character talking to a paper towel.

All of this could be fixed simply by making the protagonist someone that you could imagine a person growing attached to. It's not a hard task.

Are you sure that your assumption that people want no-personality MCs is correct? It seems like most of the stuff that does really well has an MC who's more than just a generic audience insert.

It's not too dissimilar from 99.9% of generic haremshit with similar MCs doing mediocre at best and bombing horribly at worst in the anime and manga markets.

>people buy VNs for the heroines

Who are worsened by audience-insert MCs.
>>
>>16174285
I wouldn't say people WANT no personality MC, but people don't care about the MC in the end. That's why there's so much merchandise for the girls but not the guys, and why websites have such a focus on the girls in the title screen for instance.
>>
>>16174285
>>16174302
Let me clarify, I mean they don't care about the MC in the end... when it comes to buying.
>>
>>16174302

>but people don't care about the MC in the end

If they care about the heroines, then they care about the MC, because the MC is a vital piece of the heroine's character, as I described before.

Again, if people don't care, why does most of the stuff that does well seem to have a protagonist who has a personality? I really don't understand why people seem to want to strawman Japanese fans so much by pretending that quality writing isn't on their minds at all.

>That's why there's so much merchandise for the girls but not the guys, and why websites have such a focus on the girls in the title screen for instance.

Whether you're selling figurines and posters of him or not, the protagonist still plays a vital role in the quality of your product and all subsequent marketing.

>>16174305

If your products are horrible, people aren't going to keep sitting through them, much less at the price tag that VN developers generally put on their games. They'll just find the CGs online and fap to those.
>>
>>16174330
>why does most of the stuff that does well seem to have a protagonist who has a personality?
Are you thinking of certain games like Muramasa instead of the industry as a whole like all the moege type games with bland MCs that sell just as well?
>>
>>16174346

Alicesoft, Type Moon, Giga, August, Leaf, Nitroplus, Age, etc.

Basically everyone who stands out from the pack in terms of sales puts some attention into their protagonists.

Sure, there are endless heaps of garbage, but how many of their producers are rolling in money? It's a poor business choice to not put effort into the protagonist just because you're not planning to roll out protagonist figurines.

>Eushully writes shitty MCs.

They also produce actual games. You can get away with horrible writing on all levels if you produce a game with great gameplay.
>>
>>16173129
Not really true. There's a written portion and a practical portion.

>>16173110
The driving test in Japan is incredibly strict but doesn't really reflect real-world driving at all. You're not allowed on real roads before you get your license (no learner's permit system like in the US or other places), so a newly licensed driver in Japan usually has no clue how to deal with roads outside of a closed course. And since a lot of people never really need to drive anyway, "paper drivers" (who have a license but haven't used it much) are pretty common.

Even among the more experienced Japanese drivers, there's a tendency to treat the rules of the road as suggestions at best, and traffic cops aren't really a thing in Japan so they get away with it. Given some of the shit I've seen, it's a miracle they're not all dead by now.
>>
>>16174371
Really reaching with Age, Leaf, and Giga there, I can only presume you are thinking of specific games (like Muv Luv for Age) because none of them have a good track record with competent MCs.
Furthermore, such a list isn't even that good of an argument, because I can just list like "Hibiki Works, Yuzusoft, Moege company #1337" and argue the opposite point just fine.
>>
>>16174330
>If your products are horrible, people aren't going to keep sitting through them, much less at the price tag that VN developers generally put on their games. They'll just find the CGs online and fap to those.
then why senmomo and senrenbanka sold so well?
>>16174371
>August
>Giga
lol, did you even read something except baldr series, daitosho and eustia?
>>
>>16174248
>The heroines literally exist to suck his dick.
But thats what eroge and " Bishoujo games " are for. There is no reason to like each other, you just start the game, read whatever shitty plot it has, enter the heroine route, romance and fuck her and that's it. Of course there is exceptions but your standard eroge is mostly like this.
>>
>>16174371
There's definitely a difference between VNs with stories that are driven by the protagonist's character and actions, and moege created to sell based on cute girls and sex. With the latter it's the appeal of the moe traits of the heroine by herself that ultimately determines the success, and a protagonist who is too "intrusive" will probably be received more negatively than some bland self-insert.
>>
>>16174330
Nitroplus MC's - best MC's

lmao I guess you only played their most popular game. and
>but how many of their producers are rolling in money?
Yuzusoft is the best seller for the last 4-5 years, Senren Banka sold almost x5 more than the Baldr heart. Tayutama 2, Hana Hime , Gin'iro Haruka and even the Unionism Quartet's FD sold twice more than it.

In short yep, they are rolling in the money, or at least more than your examples.
>>
>>16174695
daitoshokan has a good protag, and alicesoft has definitely made more good protags than just rance
>>
>>16174330
>If your products are horrible, people aren't going to keep sitting through them, much less at the price tag that VN developers generally put on their games. They'll just find the CGs online and fap to those.

Did you ever checked the sale charts? They literally dont care about the writing or the MC's personality, almost every game at the top 10 sellers of the 2016 is just moeges with cute art, like ワガママハイスペック or 千恋*万花.

For me the mc's personality is one of the most important things in an eroge as well, but dont act like it does matter for the japanese fans too, they dont care, you can see that by checking the last 3-4 years' sales.
>>
>>16174704
Daitoshokan and eustia are only august's games with good mc.
>>
I think the whole thing with "blank state" protag comes from dating sims. The modern dating sim simply has no dating sim elements anymore. By now many games just give you the "which route do you want to enter?" choice that matters, or at most 2-3 mattering choices in the common route. It's a kinda funny development. Shitty, but also funny. Most genre went through this though. (making things more "casual" and easier accessible on average)

The original uploaders can't crack at all so they just release games as they are
Games with online activation can't be cracked without being activated (with exceptions where they fuck it up)
Original uploaders never give out their activation keys
Re-uploaders are in it for the money and don't even care whether the game is cracked as long as they have something to upload
The chinks buy games and have the keys as well so they can pass them to their cracker and put the game behind their VIP section

I launch Hanachirasu. I take off my pants. I start the game, getting ready to unleash my fury. I read the text. It's hard not to skip till the main event. Here comes the fight. This is some goon moping some other goons. Not yet, this is not the main badass of the game, i can wait. Then after a couple of minutes, he comes. Yes, the shiny sword, the perfect technique. He crashes goons like nothing. I can't contain my raging boner. I twist my "sword", imitating Akane's "tsubame gaeshi" and at the same time training IAIdo motions. It feels good. My "sword" shoots. That was perfect. I guess that's it for the warmup.
I launch Muramasa. Time for the main dish.
Kageaki is having a duel. He faces his opponent mirroring her pose. Normally people would watch at the girl but that's not the case for me. I can see the ending! I know that she will lose. Her technique is inadequate. I can see it. Half an hour of description of this poor girl waiting to get cut and at last the fight ends. Of course, Kageaki is the best.
Then i hear this...
"Oni ni ou tewa oni o kiru...".
That phrase switches something in my mind, my dick getting even harder than last time. I can't stop. My sword gets even hotter than Masamune's one of the seven tricks- fire sword , nothing can stop my calory burn but it doesn't matter. Kageaki prepares his electric sword and so do I. "Yoshino Honored Style Battle Technique..." I can't hear the rest as my sword also electrifies and prepares to shoot the enemy. The calory exhaustion finally gets me and collapse in exctasy.
I go to 4chan. I see some fuck boasting that he likes Scaji bullshit. I write him this angry comment.

Don't understand the hate on Scaji fans. If you spent 10 years of your life in a cell, going outside would probably feel like a new dimension of colors, smells and sounds.

If a guy spent his life reading children's literature, moege, blogs and wikipedia, coming across some Donnie Darko-level philosophy-related bull (even if it's all just there because author felt it's cool without coming close to understanding the original) must feel like a whole new universe of thought.

You should be envious, if anything.

Why is the quality of the average VN so much lower than the average for any other media?
>>
>>16179617
It's not, the average book, TV show, etc is awful. VNs just have way less content it's easier to get the wrong idea. Also, a lot of VNs are SOL/comedy/school stuff so if you don't like that then your perspective will be painted excessively negative. Finally, I get the feeling VNs rarely have editors so bloat is really commonplace.

>which heroine has a good route to ease into in terms of the density of hijinks?
just finished the game after 5 months of procrastination and the 2 best routes were for tomoe and minori. minori's route in particular was amusing throughout and was the first time i've ever cracked up during h scenes. tomoe's route was probably the best though, despite having the most drama everything gets hilariously resolved and tomoe is revealed to be the most pathetic heroine among the cast and the route itself is mostly well paced with comedy. aisa's route is good and all but the joke character trying to became a respectable person isn't pulled off too well

but the incest routes are unfortunately subpar. kyouko is kind of annoying, her route has bad pacing, and she's the sole reason i stalled the game for so long. mei's route actually isn't bad at all but the writer effectively suspended reality to make hers possible, namely that kyouko doesn't volunteer to help when she absolutely would normally and that the floor in mei's room just gives way for absolutely no reason

the jinguu sisters have the best routes but i think they're all worth playing honestly, even kyouko's route had some real gold about 100 lines from the scene i got stalled on for months
>>
>Steins;Gate is supposedly 1.8mb
>35h play time average on EGS
Huh? Is it inflated because of the dumb choice system?
>>
>>16182197
30% of the time wasted probably comes from meandering around where the split for Suzuha's ending is because people playing it couldn't figure out you had to make a phone call at a specific point in the dialogue.

70% comes from trying to figure out what the hell replies to send to get to the true ending.
>>
>>16182197

My guess is that Chaos Child is like a good 2mb and it has a ~40h too. I haven't actually played Steins;Gate, but in C;C's case the likely reason is because the game is FUCKING SLOW. (Which is why I stopped after two character routes) The highest speed you can scroll through text is like slightly faster than one message a second. Add to that SLOW animations ALL THE FUCKING TIME.. and it adds up. Makes skimming a pain in the fucking ass. The engine is honestly complete ass.
So, maybe S;G has something like this as well? Wouldn't be surprised if they shared the engine or something, given that they are both "science series" VN.
>>
>>16182462
I remember eden* being like this. Minoris engine is freaking slow, have to click multiple times to advance the text because the sprites change on every line.

>>
>>16185389

>>
>>16186047

Yeah I'm referring to the PC version. It's not just the text speed, trying to open the menu or check the tips requires an unreasonably long amount of time, and considering the sheer number of truly useless tips it dumps on you in the first few hours I gave up fairly quickly since I felt like most of my time with it was spent waiting for the game to respond to what I was asking it to do.

Shame since I saw overwhelmingly positive reviews on it, but fuck every bit of that. I really don't understand how it got past testing in that state, it was that bad for me.
>>
>>16185389

I just don't really care about the other 2 heroines, so I just stopped. (so far at least) You can ignore tips you don't need and if you want to normally read, it's fast enough. Just make sure to make text instant and turn off the "voice to text sync". Just if you want to only skim it gets ugly. Or skipping, that also takes a while. (If you follow the walkthrough on seiya you'll skip over 2 hours alone, just the actual skipping, not taking into account the shitty "choices" of text or pictures or whatever)
>>
>>16185392

It was F3, thank you. I tried all the letter keys but didn't think to touch the function keys. From what I've seen so far I think Pebble is the superior version but it's a shame that the engine is inferior to the original.

It's fine to only read the main branch in Eustia, right? Or are any of the side routes good for something besides porn?
>>
>>16187950
I have no idea why you'd assume a VN like Eustia has routes solely for porn? Does it look like a nukige to you? Do you have no sense of romance or attraction to the characters?
>>
>>16187967
>a VN like Eustia
A plotge chained by moeshit? Why WOULDN'T he assume routes are just there for porn? And, indeed, they pretty much are. Too short for anything else, even proper romance.
>>
>>16187967
Not sure if trolling
>>
>>16187972
Yes, if you consider girls, romance, and character interaction/development that isn't directly related to the plot to be "moeshit", then the routes have no value.
>>
>>16188008
If you consider the garbo in those routes as meaningful character interaction or development, you have far lower standards than me.
>>
>>16184646
Should I read the original or the remake?

>>16186085
How powerful is your PC? I didn't have problems with text speed since I just started reading and am stupidly slow, but I did have some performance issues at certain parts while running at 1080p, mainly when the backgrounds were divided. (Although that's certainly a problem on the developer's side. How the hell can a VN be demanding?)
>>
>>16188172
The Kikokugai remake has redrawn art, better 演出, and is "all-ages" (with basically all the ero cgs intact but no genitals, including the gangrape cg) so it has famous seiyuu. It's probably the better experience, unless you really want to see the eroscenes explicitly.
>>
>>16188248
>and is "all-ages" (with basically all the ero cgs intact but no genitals, including the gangrape cg) so it has famous seiyu
So those scenes aren't voiced? Or like there is some narrative but no dialogue?
>>
>>16188258
They keep in some relevant dialogue, but no lewd sounds.
>>
>>16188172

I've got an i7, Geforce 840m, and 16mb RAM, there should be no issue. Considering I have had no problem running any other eroge, even the ones that are supposed to be fairly demanding, I am led to believe that it must just be this particular game.

Some eroge just aren't made very well and that leads to problems, ports seem to suffer a lot for whatever reason.
>>
>>16187950

Licia's route is pretty decent.
Fione's is worth doing if you like her.
>>
>>16188099
More like we just have different tastes. I assume you don't touch moege and only read super serious plotge with mature adult themes for mature adults like yourself?
>>
>>16188415
You assume wrong, I read tons of moege / charage. That's why I can look at the shoehorned romance in Aiyoku and call it garbo, I've read so many better works that took romance far more seriously and did so much better.
>>
>>16188415

Come on dude, the ends in Eustia are like ~1hr long if you read slowly and only there so they could check off having porn for all heroines. No need to get upset about it, it's just what kind of game it is. If you want an August game with lots of decent-good character routes, Daitosho is the way to go.

Licia's was pretty good imo, but no it's not necessary to read any of the branches regardless of your "tastes" unless you just really like one of the side heroines and even then I'd recommend doing them after you finish. Aiyoku no Eustia was clearly meant to be played through to the final chapter as a linear game and I'm not sure how you would get any other impression.
>>
>>16188296
Well, your PC is certainly more powerful than mine. Still, did you try running it at 720p? Even when I didn't have problems in-game, changing the resolution made the menu go faster.
>>
>>16188579
I dropped Eustia around the crow monster's chapter, I just has shit going on and was not able to finish it. Should I revisit it or get into Daitosho? Having to retrace my steps in Eustia seems like a pain.
>>
>>16188668

Depends on what you're looking for, honestly. I have a lot of issues with first three routes of Eustia but the last two are extremely good imo, it made everything before it not even matter for me.

I assume you were in Fione's chapter, which is honestly still what I would consider the beginning of the game. You don't have much to "retrace" at all so I wouldn't even worry about that.

Daitoshokan is one of my favorite charage, it's consistently fun and the writing team is really great at making conversations and scenes feel natural and satisfying. Girls are also hella cute.

Both are good, but overall Eustia wins out for me since it was more in line with what I enjoy reading. I say go for Eustia, but again, it just depends on what you're in the mood for.
>>
>>16188704
Thanks for the response I'll give Eustia another go.
>>
>>16188704
First three?
I agree that the 2nd and 3rd "routes" are fairly weak, but I found Fione's section to be fantastic. Excellent use of the setting, Caim's character, and so on.
>>
>>16188579
No, you're clearly wrong. If the routes were just there for porn, they would've just had the sex scenes in the Extra menu unlock when you finish the chapter. If the routes are meant to be read after the true game, they would've just made them unlockable from the extra menu like the mini-routes for the 3 side girls in Senmomo. The reason they're in the main game and unlockable through your choices is because they're meant to be read as part of the game, and the reason they have their little story and epilogue instead of pure porn is because they're meant to provide a romantic conclusion to the girl's story and emotional satisfaction for people who get attached to the heroines. And if you're not attached to the heroines there's honestly no point in reading Eustia in the first place.
>>
>>16188727
Who could feel emotional satisfaction from those tiny routes? They're so short and terrible, the only people who would feel satisfied are those who just need a marriage CG to be content.
>>
>>16188727

I'm like 80% sure you're trolling at this point, either way I don't feel like arguing with you over it. If you're not, we were clearly looking for different things out of the game and that is what it is.

Sure, whatever man. The 30 minute side endings in Eustia are just as important as the true end, whatever you say.
>>
>>16188727
>The reason they're in the main game and unlockable through your choices is because they're meant to be read as part of the game,

You are reading way too much into that. People frown on omake scenes, it looks lazy. Making the extra routes accessible from the main via choices gives the illusion of effort, but if those routes are nothing more than omake scenes in disguise, there is no reason to read them.
>>
>>16188727
is this bait
>>
>>16188736
>The 30 minute side endings in Eustia are just as important as the true end, whatever you say.
I never said this. Obviously the true end is by far the best part of the game. But that doesn't mean the routes are shit, just that the true end is amazing.

Anyway, you're right, clearly we're just looking for different things out of the game, and as long as you enjoy it I guess it's fine.

>>16188751
If this is true I don't know why they had more than half the scenes in the Extra menu, why not just put them all in the routes so they look even less lazy? Some games do this, just have the routes devolve into a stream of continuous sex scenes. It's almost as if the routes in Eustia are there for a different reason from the sex scenes.
>>
Has anyone else here gotten a headache from reading Irotoridori no Sekai? Turning down my monitor's brightness has mainly resolved it, but I was getting a headache after about 10 minutes of reading before I did that.
>>
>>16188726

Fione's route is a great hook.
And then immediately afterward there's Eris, I would guess that most of the people who dropped Eustia dropped it during the 2nd route.
>>
>>16188808
Cause Eustia is a quality work and they knew going straight from a good story to a flood of sex scenes would be terrible.
What you should ask yourself is, if the routes have such a meaningful reason, why are they like 30 minutes long? If they're so important for romantic conclusions and all that, why do they have so little attention and time given to them?
>>
>>16188852
They are fan service at best or at worse an after thought.

It's not like the whole route is just the split-off point, I think of the chapter as the route, and the part after the branch as the "happy end" of it, from the heroine's perspective anyway. You get all of this character and relationship development over this route, it would be a shame to throw it all away, do nothing with it, and have Fione and Eris be non-entities for the rest of the VN. So you give them a proper ending. Sure, it's short, but the drama is over and concluded in the route, there's not a lot to do, and having a satisfying conclusion to their relationship and their storyline is far better than nothing at all.

One more episode of "what is sex and how does this work?".

This eroge actually has a few fun ideas it plays around with. Ultimately still rather generic though. Girls are also a bit meh on average.
>>
>>16188172
I have a 2010 built pc and I had problems with C;C and S;G0 cause they are ported from consoles. The main problem is that the game freezes sometimes for about half a minute, before showing next line of text. Also the videos can glitch.
>>
>>16190322

Seems like some "hardware" problem. The game isn't very demanding. More than most eroge, but it's still not that much. Certain eroge with "scrolling" were actually way heavier on the performance than what C;C ever does. (I forgot which engine it was, but I've encountered it a few times.. so probably something used by multiple different companies)

That said, C;C crashed like twice for me. Or rather, soft-locked. it just froze during one of its "animations" and that's it. Could still quit the game, but nothing else. (waiting didn't do anything here btw.) Really shitty as the game does not auto-save regularly. And the text isn't marked as "read" like that either. Add to that the slow skipping speed.. ugh. Make sure to hammer quicksave regularily.

Well, whatsoever. The engine is garbage, that's for sure. Doesn't even have a fucking voice-replay function outside of the backlog, and the backlog doesn't have the current line. Could be worse I guess. Fortissimo (the newest version of the first one) is not even a port, and the system is horrendous. Skipping is SLOW, no voice-replay, no real backlog only the ability to "scroll back lines" which doesn't work if you just entered a new "scene" or the last part was NVL and you are back to ADV format.. like what the fuck, really.
>>
>>16190394
BGI can have a pretty shit scrolling. It's used in Daitoshokan for a running effect in few places.

Dreamcast port? If you mean you want the re-release version with the original scenario and ero included along with full voice, you are probably looking for this. Just grab the tokuten on this torrent, this is how it was released.

Only spoonfeeding because it would be more trouble to explain than just linking you the damn thing.
>>
Is Miagete Goran good / what makes it good? It looks extremely generic, but I saw some people who aren't absolute moebutas praise it so I'm curious enough to try it.
>>
>>16190718
Thanks for the help. And yeah that's what I was looking for. I assumed it was a port of the dreamcast version for some reason.
>>
>>16190612
I'm glad you liked it too, that was definitely the most moe of the stories I've read
>>
>>16190768
It's pretty good, the production value is high, the writing and characters interaction flows naturally, a lot of Astronomy and telescope trivia, a pretty good ost. The game itself was pretty luxurious experience. But two of the heroines are just fillers, so do the main two and call it a day.
>>
>>16190854
I forgot to mention that it has a long and detailed childhood flashbacks which added a lot, it's the first time in my life that a childhood friend heroine was my favourite girl.
>>
>>16190854
Saya and Hikari yeah? I heard someone even say to skip Saya and only do Hikari, what do you think of that? I mean I'm not buying the game anyways so I don't mind if I don't get "full" value length wise out of it or whatever, and Saya looks kind of boring. But if you tell me her route is great I guess I'll do it.

Finished Chuusotsu and now I'm really pumped up for the sequel. It was amazing overall, I really could feel Arue with all her ups and downs.
>>
>>16190886
I didn't do Saya, her whole character was boring to me too so I didn't see the need to play it since this game despite being high quality it's still your typical pure love moege. Though I liked Says as side charcater in Hikari route. Hikari was extremly cute and I enjoyed her, I somehow excpected much more love triangle drama in her route but the writer being smart avoided all the meldorama and solved things peacefully. I got completely satisfied after Hikari, so Iam not sure if the fandisk is worth it, did anyone play it here and reccomaned it?

Just played a couple hours of スキとスキとでサンカク恋愛 and unfortunately it seems like their worst title for me, or at least until the part I have read. It doesn't have a very huge failure, but there are just too many minor minus imo. I'll count some of them;

First of all, Maho's voice is definitely doesn't fit with her art. Its just too different and feels like some amateur home made voice acting than an actual eroge.

Secondly, I actually like the Asaproject's Breaking the Fourth Wall jokes but this time they have gone too far with them, there are just too many "hey I'm the main heroine" "hey you cant say that to a main heroine" etc jokes. It just loses its originality and gets boring you know.

Speaking of jokes, the quality of them did decreased as well, I only laughed like two or three of their jokes, all others felt very forced. It was like they're trying too hard to become funny or something. Also the mc's "well we are otakus so it cant be helped" logic definitely didn't help either.

I can make at least 5-10 more of those, like how Nanaru's all scenes are too cliche and how there isn't a single of triangle feel in this game except the first five minutes of Suzu's arrival etc etc.

Well I'll still finish some routes at least, but since AsaProject is famous with their good common and bad heroine routes I dont really expect anything.

it seemed bad from the get go

I'm not really into hotblooded type of stuff, but I'm looking for something different and figured I'd give Dies Irae a try.

Going through the archive again, it seems that, in order to see all CGs etc, I'm best off first reading Acta est Fabula, getting a 100% save for Amantes amentes and then read stuff from the "Extras" menu.

Does that seem right?
>>
>>16192661

yes
>>
>>16192661
Amantes Amentes also adds a second, extended ending to the final route. So if you want to experience absolutely everything;
Play through Acta est Fabula > play the new Amantes Amentes ending > extras

So yeah, this was a bit too long and the drama was pretty damn low tier. (even typical "misunderstanding drama" is used..)

Great mystery series. First game is merely decent and it doesn't have that much big plot stuff apart from introducing the setting and some foreshadowing, though it isn't bad either by any means. Second game is fantastic in comparison and manages to use the first game's foreshadowing in really clever ways that make the previous, obvious investigation choice questions in both games seem like a joke in comparison. The last chapters in particular had me completely hooked. Third one was also pretty good, though I didn't like it or its twists as much as the second game and the convenient exposition plot device it had felt kind of cheap way of dumping backstory.

Reminder that the side heroine routes are extremely short and exist only for H-scenes so you can safely skip them unless you really want to play them for the specific girls, though in the first two games you should play and unlock the main heroine Ushio's epilogues (after the common routes) with the H-scenes as the third game treats both of them as canon.

Just to add a second opinion:

-Side-heroine routes are fine in the second one (~100kb each and enough to call them a story of sorts), but the first game's one aren't really good in my opinion.
-I felt the last chapters of game 2 pretty horrible. Shitty plot-devices and the game becoming something completely else than it was before. (And I obviously didn't like this "something") Still the rest is better than game 1, which means on average they are probably roughly the same, even if you don't like that part like I do.

I'd say it's kinda worth playing. The main-heroine is okay, which helps. Nothing worse than a big series with a shitty main-heroine who's pointlessly the focus. (Not like the trilogy is that long. Everything together should still be comfortably below 3mb)

>Side-heroine routes are fine in the second one
Fuhito's route is kind of silly and doesn't make a lick of sense in retrospect considering her true nature. I guess Adelheid's was decent, and it has some small foreshadowing for later parts of the main route in the form of revealing that Louis is actually a girl (and thus a magie). Anyways the point is you won't miss any main plot stuff by ignoring the side heroine routes.
>>
>>16189019

Do the Japanese have their own version of PEMDAS?
>>
>>16193112

Yeah, you need to play Fuhito before you finish the main-story for sure. I wouldn't say it makes no less sense than any of the routes, really, but this one becomes rather.. weird if you know the whole main-story. (All routes do ignore the main-story, so in that regard it's not exactly unique)

Regardless, the routes are mostly "what if", so if you only care about the main-story, sure, skip them. But then.. why are you even reading Leyline? Most of it is simply small little stories. Sure ultimately there's some kind of main-plot, but that's not really the main driving-force behind it. The reason why the first game's routes kinda suck is because the chapters kinda fail in being interesting in the typical "Leyline" way. (i.e. involving mists and whatnot) Game 2 did that way better in my opinion.

Well, anyways. In the end the games would've probably been better without any of these routes, especially the main-ones after the true endings. Those are just so fucking forced it's dumb. But I guess you can't leave the main-heroine without sex for the first two games, so you have to do something.. and then backpaddle, HARD. Meh. Unfortunately you are right and you should read them. Which makes it even worse.

How do I fix this? Restarting the game and reloading a save don't help.
>>
>>16194212
Exactly. The route ends not too long after you start going out with a heroine, when all the miscellaneous drama gets resolved and the two of you as a pair overcome whatever trial that comes your way. You love her, and she loves you, and the initial infatuation and that sense of being on cloud nine after having met "the one" are still there and are stronger they ever were. It's the most beautiful moment in your relationship, and the perfect moment to draw the curtain on the story. Happily ever after.

You won't have to worry about a bunch of quibbles and minor differences between the two of you wearing down the relationship in the future, and you certainly don't have to worry about what happens when you age together and the youthful looks the two of you had when you were at the peak of beauty slowly dwindle as time goes on. You lose the passion you once had that your significant other fell in love with, and years of dealing with realistic problems that follow setting up a family and following her career slowly eats away at her as well. Love as you knew it disappeared a long time ago, and even at best your relationship has lost the luster it had in the first few months after it started. The story ends at just the right moment to both give you closure and leave you wanting for more.

This is the lecture Konron gives you almost line for line in Majo Koi Nikki. That's why you play eroge. ;_;

No, because people don't want things to end the moment "I love you" is said.. or heavily implied or whatever. Eroge tend to at least offer something past getting together. If that something is good or not.. that's another question. Mostly not really, I suppose. (I blame wall MCs. An established relationship with a wall is kinda.. lacking)
