They don't have monuments because Hokkaido is an Ainu land conquered by the Japanese.

It's meant to be summer here, but it hasn't heated up much and it's rainy most of the time. I have a long sleeve on most days. It's meant the be the hottest summer on record which I'm not looking forward to.

>>16115998
This was more towards the end of summer, when all of the typhoons were hitting Japan. My flight back home got delayed thanks to one of them. Pic not really related, but meh. Kyoto is nice.
>>16116003
Also, "overpriced" is debatable. I didn't check them out because I was too busy shooting photos, but you're more likely to see that in city festivals than you are out in the countryside.
>>16116011
>(near Kyoto)
Ah, so it was filled with gaijin then. Figures.
>>16116025
Ehhh, there were a couple around that evening, but there were way more locals from around the area. Most of the gaijin probably didn't bother leaving the city for this, not that I'm complaining. It was pretty annoying having to put up with them getting drunk and being pants-on-head retarded while walking by the riverside and checking out the Tanabata stuff that was going on at the time.

Don't think I'll ever make it to the promised land. But if I do, Shijo will be on my list.
>>16123578
Many places. I believe the order was something like Kyoto -> Naoshima -> Tottori -> Osaka -> Nagano -> Kanazawa (day trip) -> Tokyo.
>>16123792
Kanazawa Station. Kanazawa is a very lovely place that avoided any major damage during the war by virtue of being on the wrong coast for bombing / shelling, and has been described as a mini-Kyoto of sorts. Unfortunately, there's been a recent push towards generating tourism revenue, and a Shinkansen link that goes all the way to Tokyo via Nagano was completed in 2015, so the tourist hordes have already begun ravaging the place.
>>16124447
>>16124511
This was taken during summer 2015 (August?). I didn't bring a tripod because of the number of places I was visiting; I didn't want to have to lug that around everywhere, I wanted to be as mobile as possible. Unfortunately, this made shooting in low-light situations a lot more difficult. I think I pulled this one off by mounting the camera on a large rectangular metal box (for electricity?) somewhere along the pavement. If I had brought a tripod, though, I could probably taken a more aesthetic photo (i.e. without the road cone).
>>16124546
Correct.
>>16125382
This >>16125404 is about right, in a rather counter-intuitive way. If you're there to take photos in a documentative kind of way, the most annoying and jarring thing is the tourists, and/or the foreigners who are too busy in their own gaijin bubble to notice that they're kicking up one hell of a ruckus.
Doesn't make you any less of an outsider yourself, but at least you're not actively being a retard.

Not really. It isn't a still from a video. The camera records a second before and after the picture and attaches them to it. So if you suddently jerk the phone around before taking the picture, nothing would happen to the image.

He wanted to know what is life in Japan.
How is your daily routine; your days, your months etc...
>>16137427
Well, it probably varies quite a bit from anon to anon.
For me, it generally goes like this:
wake up at 6 AM
take the train to work
work until 4
take the train home
buy groceries and walk home
go on 4chan
take a shower
make and eat dinner
go to bed
Pretty much the same every day. On weekends, sometimes I'll take a walk around my town, do some shopping, etc. Maybe I'll take the train into the city and shop there. Usually, though, I just hole up inside my apartment because I don't particularly enjoy social interaction.
>>16137558
At the risk of sounding condescending (I assure you that I don't mean it that way), do you have any hobbies other than 4Chan? Or is work just too draining as it is?
>>16137427
So you can stalk me? No thanks.
>>16137592

Yes, very nice, except when you need to move around more than your feet or a bike can handle. Subway not developed enough; train has poor connections between the 5 lines/companies; bus is mostly the only choice but when you're not very familiar with the bus lines & timetables, it can be difficult to use efficiently.
why is japan so comfy, is it just weeb nostalgia or is there something intrinsic and demonstrable that causes this feeling?

>go for my Masters in Japan, I'd like to consider it.
Lots of English language programs have sprouted up since Global 30. From my understanding they are more aimed at global tracts then STEM type stuff though.
I went to an intensive language program before moving on to a masters program here. I originally intended to job hunt after my masters, but I managed to get an awesome scholarship so I decided to roll with it and get my PhD too. The program I am in is kind of bilingual. Some classes are English, some Japanese, some a weird mix. The seminars are half English and half Japanese.

The reasons I find Japan comfy are:
-Narrow streets. When everything is close together it feels comfy
-High variety of buildings: Almost each bulding has a different size, color, style. It makes Japan look more personal and interesting. The power lines add to this too.
-Just more quirky details in general. The shop signs are more colorful. There are vending machines everywhere.
-It's clean
I could walk through the streets of Japan for hours. I find it amazing how in one city it can go from dynamic metropolis with skyscrapers and lots of traffic to cozy residential areas that look like a village.
