SP is probably the best place to start as it's easily available and better than 2 and OFA. While the mechanics might be a bit rough to get into, it's got a good balance of writing, difficulty, and management elements, and at least one of them is fully translated.

2 and OFA are also both good but both have a good deal of issues between them. 2's mechanics are kind of esoteric to figure out on your own, and by playing optimally/aiming for the best ending you'll miss out on a shitload of commus because which one are available is determined by your highest ranking song, and it's possible and fairly easy to catapult your first single into the highest tier once you know what you're doing. Replayablity and focusing on other idols is a slog because you have to go through the same story events and more or less the same flow of events each time.

OFA gutted the management elements and most of the difficulty, but in exchange you can more or less switch between your idols freely as you unlock them. Commu system is better and there's much more interaction between the idols in them. Leon is basically a wasted character as a rival, you can easily grind your way to victory, and Burst Counter is basically a busted mechanic for most of the game. The DLC routes are good, but if you're buying the game it's an extra expense. The game also turns into a bit of a slog as you clear more characters though, as they still follow the same structure to their story events and can just bruteforce your way through their rank ups with your high level/rank idols.
