Search a big tag, scroll down as far as you can, and watch your compy die trying to load every picture in the tag at once. Brilliant. I'm sure a shitty little smartphone can handle this.

It's terrible, it has also broken my userscripts and the downloader program I use. And there's no way to turn it off.

I don't know what phone is going to be able to handle loading hundreds of pictures at once and why anyone would browse art on something with a screen the size of your palm, but them's the breaks. Just hope that this'll be an optional site layout.

Is any japanese language user on the beta? I was skimming through some of the pixiv thread on 2ch and I didn't catch anyone talking about this. But the thread was also getting shitposted to death so that might be why. I'd laugh if it's only EOP's dealing with this.

Welp time to write a script to fix this shit before it's implemented.

I like it more, though I admit it's not all good.
Before I couldn't figure out how to see the latest submissions of artists I follow without seeing literally everything else they were doing, now you can just see their recent submission.
I also like how you get more than just 3 recommended images on a page.
Also, larger thumbnails is great.

I don't like how they don't let you just jump to pages (Or at least I haven't figured out how to do that yet) but that's about my only personal problem with it.

Fuck me, this is worthless. Aside from the lazyload pageless cancer and non-uniform thumbnails, when you open an image in a new tab, about a second later it redirects to the artist's works page.

Booru's are worthless to me though, because I find value in reading what the artist wrote along with the image he uploaded and being able to communicate with the artist. The booru's are just parasitic sites trying to profit off of other peoples hard work. They do support more tags though, I'll give them that. But I've never had any problems using pixiv's search functionality.

Scrolling to ~10 pages out of ~500 I fap to every few weeks starts to slow the page to a crawl. What a piece of hackneyed shit. It's offensive.

Would it have been to hard to simply make m.pixiv in addition to the desktop site instead of forcing it on us? First japs blue ball me with censorship and now they make everything inaccessible.

I think you misunderstand me. When I say I like reading what the authors write, I mean the comments they write along with the pictures they upload. I can read japanese. The boorus having fan made "localizations" on them mean nothing to me.

Unless boorus are very different now then how I remember them, they hold little value to me over just using pixiv. If I want to search for something, I use either "'name of character' users" or "'name of character' number" to filter out all the crap, and it's not hard to look up more specific things if you know the right tags. I've never had any problems using it at least.

Given this will only work with more popular series, it's not a problem for me since the only thing I go on pixiv for is touhou.

old pixiv was just as bloated and ugly as the new one, its fine if you hate it because of the mobile shit but dont kid yourselves otherwise

There was another thread here a while back where people didn't know the basics of how to use pixiv. I feel like I should try to explain the best way to use it.

So, you just signed up for pixiv. You look up 東方 but it's all hot shit. What the fuck, right? Well you're using it wrong. You want to be looking up 東方 users. Once you do that everything for the most part should be pretty good. You can look up specific characters as well, say 諏訪子 users to find cute frogs. On pixiv, premium users have a way of sorting the most popular pics, but free users don't have that. So they set up a system to get around it. It's the users system. If a pic gets a certain amount of bookmarks, it gets a tag for it. The numbers are 250, 500, 1000, 3000, 5000, etc. So you can look up 東方 or character name and one of those numbers to also see only pics that are that highly rated.

This allows you to browse through quality stuff without having to deal with the chaff. But the thing you should be doing while you are engaging in this, is find what artists you like and follow them. I personally follow over a 1000 artists on pixiv. My criteria is that they are reasonably good at drawing, and draw at least 50%+ touhou pics. I get atleast 3-4 pages of new art everyday, I don't have to look up jack shit unless I haven't bothered to keep track in a while.

The one downside of this though, is you lose out on the upcoming artists. It's actually really hard to get popular on pixiv drawing touhou. The competition is very fierce. You get around that by looking at the recommendations you get when bookmarking something. You can see them again by going through your bookmarks list and clicking the "numbers" part of your bookmark. A lot of times bookmarks with a 100 or less will give you recommendations for less popular artists, who will sometimes be very good themselves. It's a short cut to find artists you might not otherwise find.

There is no 'great firewall' in the UK.
The big 3 ISP's block the largest torrent and movie streaming sites, but a simple proxy or cached view will get around that. If you're lucky enough to have a smaller ISP, it's likely they won't block anything.

A few years ago the PM announced he would block all porn in Britain, the tabloids went crazy with the story and it got a lot of publicity overseas (USA). It was actually just an opt-in instead of opt-out system for sexual content viewing with a the big 3 ISPs, though no one cared about the finer details since "OMG PORN IS BLOCKED / ILLEGAL" is a better headline.

More recently they've been trying to pass an act making it so all ISPs are required to keep a log of users web usage for the past 12 months. It's not been passed (yet), but that, coupled with talk of other draconian surveillance laws has started discussion about a 'Great Firewall of Britain' (in reference to China's great firewall).

Most of the UK has no idea what's going on and people overseas have even less of an idea, so as far as the internet is concerned, Britain is a surveillance shithole where porn is blocked and a 'great firewall' regulates the websites that are viewable.

It's probably going to get much worse with our current PM, unfortunately.
