Use FFMPEG
After setup, use commands:
>to stream
ffplay -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu
>to record as webm for 4chan posts
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -an -y -b:v 700k n-jraizu.webm
>record as video with sound
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -y -b:v 700k n-jraizu.webm
>>create timelapse webm (I haven't tried this before myself)
ffmpeg -i input.avi -y -filter:v "setpts=0.00390625*PTS" -b:v 700k -r 30 output.webm". (256*0.00390625 = 1)
You can also just directly copy the streams without any encoding. It's very fast and allows you to tweak the settings yourself.
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -c:v copy -c:a copy n-jraizu.mkv
You will have to encode the streams to vp8(and vorbis) if you want to post it on here though
October PDF
http://www.city.aizuwakamatsu.fukushima.jp/docs/2011080200035/files/20161001e.pdf
Side note, I'm thinking it might be time we got a pastebin.
There's a spider web on the camera again.
>>15988053
I would also change these two:
>ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -an -y -b:v 700k n-jraizu.webm
>ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -y -b:v 700k n-jraizu.webm
by adding "-c:v vp8" to them like so:
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -an -y -c:v vp8 -b:v 700k n-jraizu.webm
Webm files can contain vp9 streams as well and I think ffmpeg will attempt to encode using vp9 if you don't mention one of the two specifically. The problem is 4chan doesn't allow vp9 so it rejects them.
>>15991633
>>15988053
Here's that with the changes I suggested in the previous thread
Use FFMPEG
After setup, use commands:
>to stream
ffplay -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu
>to record as webm for 4chan posts
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -c:v vp8 -an n-jraizu.webm
>record as video with sound
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -c:v vp8 -c:a libvorbis n-jraizu.webm
>>create timelapse webm (I haven't tried this before myself)
ffmpeg -i input.avi -y -filter:v "setpts=0.00390625*PTS" -b:v 700k -r 30 output.webm". (256*0.00390625 = 1)
You can also just directly copy the streams without any encoding. It's very fast and allows you to tweak the settings yourself later on.
ffmpeg -i mmsh://center3.ntt-fukushima.com/n-jraizu -c:v copy -c:a copy n-jraizu.mkv
You will still have to encode the streams to vp8(and vorbis) if you want to post it on here though.

In simple terms, 850hPa means sea level and 500hPa means cloud level right?
And from what I can see, with precipitation never even reaching 5mm, there will be no buildup.
>>16064574
As far as I'm aware, it only closes if the weather reaches blizzard level, not necessarily just from large volumes of snow .e.g if it was a gentle buildup as opposed to a "violent" buildup.

It's impolite to even talk on your phone while riding the trains, just imagine playing a sax.
Don't think you'd get arrested though, you'd probably just get a warning, increase the bad reputation foreigners have and would be appreciated by one or two people on the entire train.

Any love for train simulators or just real trains here?
I just clicked on this thread because I realized I've never clicked on it before and I have no idea what's going on. Are you guys train enthusiasts with a particular interest in this particular train station for some reason, or am I missing something? It's a cozy thread and I like it but I'm having a hard time understanding what is going on.
>>16182101
I guess the thread is centered on this particular station but occasionally other stuff is posted, frequently involving trains.
This station cam is one of the few that actually has sound so you can hear the trains departing and the station announcer and people talking and stuff. This platform is also the end of the line so trains arriving and departing are traveling at fairly low speeds so there's minimal noise. Plus during the winter season it may snow which is really nice.

Share with me /jp/.
What is the rarest thing you have seen at the station over the course of watching?
For me, it's a tie between some wildlife on the tracks during the late night and a girl that sat on the edge of the platform
What are you surprised that you haven't seen all this time?
For me its, people falling when running for the train, fighting, and people walking into each other. I have only seen one instance of what looked like a dramatic argument between a couple as they walked by where the girl was hitting the guy. DIdn't get a cap in time unfortunately

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQPSZnmbYxY
Just recorded, this is about 1h20 from about 6am to 7am
>>16240006
I was going to post this one, good find anon!
Does this train travel across prefectures?
>>16240006
Looks like an android.
time for a rare train
first time seeing it at this station
>>16252278
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JNR_Class_DD51
>>16252278
It was there only briefly, than 10 minutes. I managed to catch it on a recording.
>>16253768
>>16253846
less than 10 minutes*
>>16252278
one of only four deployed in JR east
>>16253768
Thanks for the link (will create a pastebin with trains seen at this station soon)
>>16253846
Nice. Was going to record departure but it was gone by the time I checked back
>>16255398
>>16252278
Here's the arrival and departure of the DD51
http://www112.zippyshare.com/v/JdP6aWob/file.html
I was worried that it wouldn't get recorded properly because I have ffmpeg record the stream in 10 minute segments and it was cut halfway through but it came out fine.
I wonder if the radiation after the earthquake caused to stop snowing so much or maybe the snow might come in January. I miss those winters with massive snow in the station/rails
>>16257310
>I wonder if the radiation after the earthquake caused to stop snowing so much
I think the more probable theory has to do with generally warm winter patterns the last few years (this is not exclusive to Japan either)

We definitely need this.

Looks like the guy saw something down there and went to pick it up.
>>16260672
I didn't believe you at first.
>>16260186
>>16260699
The conductor got jumpy pretty quick.
I'm envious of how good the rail service is in Japan. It's a complete joke in the majority of the states.
I never thought a thread on 4chan could be this pleasant.
>>16261057
this board isn't a good representation of this site
(in a good way)
there are other small boards with quality as well
>>16261069
Good to know.
Some music for the current snow mood if anybody is interested:

Hoping for a good snow season
>>16239657
Working for JR would actually be a pretty sweet job as long as you don't mind working outside a lot and at night since they pretty much only do emergency maintenance during the day. It is hard work but not soul-crushing like working in an office all day.
Being a conductor or driver though, no thanks.
>>16252278
>>16253768
That's a DE-10 not a DD-51.
heavy flakes

>>16239657
>>16261914
Well from what I can tell from friends in Japan, "work" there is fair. You work a lot but you get paid decently too. Part time jobs pay you fair enough for a part time job too, don't they?
>Being a conductor or driver though, no thanks.
Why is that?

Its amazing how quickly the snow builds on the ground then goes away and then comes back again.
Is there a way to find out whether there will be significant buildup in the future?
>>16263553
That was a nice one, thanks.
>>16265717
Check the top of the page, there's several weather links
>>16264080
Well number one I'm a filthy gaijin and secondly I don't think I could follow all the courtesies expected of them. Freight seems different though, I'd run oil trains with a DF-200 in Hokkaido any day.
>>16260995
They're trained to take their job very seriously and go through lot's of training.
Japan is probably the only place where train travel still has that spark of romanticism that's been long lost from the rest of the world.
thin layer of snow covering the tracks
>>16269553
>Japan is probably the only place where train travel still has that spark of romanticism that's been long lost from the rest of the world.
It's not romanticism. It's a practical means of moving huge amounts of people in a small country with heavy population density. Trains aren't going anywhere over there because the alternative of cars would simply not work
>>16271192
For the most part, yes it is basically for transport. But there are plenty of lines there who have that "romanticism" >>16269553 mentioned.
5 hour of snow in 17 seconds
it doesn't seem to accumulate at all
>>16271867
Though last year I think it snowed less
>>16271867
>it doesn't seem to accumulate at all
Why is that?
>>16272397
Well, maybe the snow season just started so by the time it gets to noon it's all melted already. Maybe in a few weeks?
I've noticed this guy three or four times now, always at night.
Poor man works in maintenance with a bad leg.
>>16261094
That's a good song. Thank you. Here i my go to album whenever the snow starts to fall. The last track esp. I hope you enjoi. While Winter Whispers - EP: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaMrK7wDV1d7_aITuIXV6EGhQD0saQRi9
>>16276278
Oh man, that's nice. Thanks for sharing.
>>16273428
Thanks for the webm,
Yeah poor guy. I guess he has a family, loved ones, a lovely wife and daughter that he loves so much that he will do any thing to support them ;_;
>>16282065
I don't think he's miserable or anything. It's just something you can notice about him but nothing too big. It's just that he's easy to spot whenever you see a maintenance worker at night.
Are there any subtitled Japanese documentaries on their railways available?
They've always been a topic of distant fascination to me. I'd be interested if there was anything made for domestic consumption, instead of the regular out-looking-in with envy at their shiny trains perspective one usually gets.
>>16283153

There's a cool foggy atmosphere, just when I received by mail a brand new laptop and chair.
Watching the stream feels so comfy today.

>>16293075
I can't believe this kind of shit still goes on in Japan.
>>16293082
They have separate sectors for women on some trains; this stuff sounds like complete nonsense here in Europe.
>>16293075
I don't think those girls have anything to worry about.
Heavy fog out tonight.
>>16293130
The one on the right is kinda passable.
>>16293563
I love fog. Absolutely beautiful.
they just need more trains so they'll be less crowded
>>16293903
>>16293563
haven't watched the stream for a couple of days
thanks for posting
>>16293102
>this stuff sounds like complete nonsense here in Europe
that's because Europe's main mode of transport isn't train
>>16293827
Passable for what? She looks like her parents share DNA.
Foggy fog.
>>16293911
How is justifiable?
And is it only during peak hours?
>>16294733
What times during the day? It looks like early morning. I take it fog is best during this time?
>>16296175
Fog tends to form in the early morning and dissipate by noon.
>>16296175
That in special was a timelapse from about 6am to 7am
Just tuned in, only part of the station is lit.
Whats the snow update?
>>16307881
Little to no snow the last few days but it has pretty good conditions for snow today. I actually see a few flakes on the stream.
are there any special trains running on Christmas?
Little bit of snow
>>16307923
More flakes now
Merry Christmas /jp/
It's coming down really steadily now.
Merry Christmas /jp/
Only a little snow...
so dark!
Sad to see no snow on the ground around this time of year
Merry Christmas /jp/
It snowed while I wasn't looking.
It's snowing steadily again, let's hope that it will stay that way for new year's eve
By the way, am i the only one having problems connecting to the stream and sometime getting disconnected from it?
>>16322176
>>16322949
Fuck missed the snow.
Its already starting to disappoint ;_;
>>16324875
Don't worry the weather for next days will show more snow steady for the rest of the week which probably will stay until new years eve
>>16324875
I managed to record around 5-6 hours of snowfall, I think I got all of it. ffmpeg is really being useful here.
>>16325395

There's a lot of video, I'm not sure how to share them should I upload them to zippyshare or something?
Hey guys, OP of the last 3-4 threads here. I was thinking it might be a good idea if we combined stuff into a pastebin or two. It's getting a bit cluttered up there and it'll free up space.
>>16334153

Thanks anon. Great work!
Also its New Year's Eve in Japan. Say goodbye to 2016 and hope maybe just maybe 2017 will be better ;_;
It's snowing again!
Slightly related but do you guys watch on-board videos? I do it all the time when I'm not in Japan so I can feel the place a bit.
I mean videos like this.

Might be heading there on the 14th to do the Tadami Line drinking game again.
>>16351323
Please take pictures if you do
>>16351337
I'll be sure to wave to the people watching the stream. Maybe even take a picture of the location of the camera.
>>16351323
What drinking game?
>>16352588
Actually it's not so much a drinking game as a group of people who take the train on the Tadami Line out to Kaneyama and drink lots of alcohol on the way there and back while enjoying the views.
It's pretty good times really.
>>16335060
Yeah that would be a great idea.
We've had so many threads now and this little viewing community I feel has gone from strength to strength,
Been meaning to do something similar myself but not sure how to go about categorizing everything.

disgusting
Early morning
It's snowing, seems wet snow though.
I'm in Niigata today with a group of anons who are doing a roadtrip. We might visit the station some time so I'll be sure to post when we have a clearer idea of our plans.
>>16360971
>group of anons
What?
Is this a post Comiket trip you anons planned or something?
>>16361383
Yeah. We're just travelling around and doing some sightseeing after Comiket. There's quite a few of us so we'll be easy to spot.
>>16341615

let's change perspective a bit:

Seems like this winter has been greater than last year which had way less snow
The group mentioned yesterday will be there in a hour and a half.
We're here now.
We gone

>>16366158
>>16365596

I am seriously jealous a group of anons (presumably didn't know each other before) got together on a post Comiket roadtrip. How many of you are from /a/?
Looks like there could be a lot of snow next week.
>>16372572
Starting when next week?
>>16373228

>>16373313
14th is looking kinda clear. Drinking party may happen.
>>16376124
>Drinking party
What?
Bump limit reached.
Any suicide videos
>>16221923
they don't change standards unless absolutely necessary in general from my experience
I am in the middle of compiling a pastebin to consolidate all the extra posts that have to be made with each OP
Not a big fan of pastebins so I might eventually transfer everything to a simple site and add nice formatting and pictures
I also plan on adding sections to the pastebin regarding all train models seen at the station as well as extra ffmpeg features
Big plans /jp/!
>>16378109
You could always be the first.
And there's not likely to be many because that is the end of the line. You don't jump in front of a train that is stopping.
New Thread (with new pastebin)
>>16378853
>>16364025
that is really cool, thanks bro!
