Was the ending shot showing that Godzilla was made out of living beings, and that was the fate of the scientist guy, or was it showing Godzilla was trying to replicate a new lifeform to replace humanity?

I saw it in theatre yesterday. I liked it, I might go see it again on saturday depending on if I can get a ride or not.
