I actually think the older fumos are generally softer, but not as well made. As for newer fumos, the rereleases for mokou, kokoro, marisa v3 and reisen v1 were not THAT soft. However, I will say that my Reisen v2 is by far my softest fumo next to maybe my Cirno? Remilia v1 and Chen are very close behind them.

Suwako is one of the older fumos- 2010 I think? The one I have is quite soft, and her hat is perfect, but she is the most unstable fumo I have in that she must be leaned up against something or she will fall.

Only those who have weird motives to keep the "value" of their fumos (so they can sell them later) keep the tags on. People with hearts take off the tags because nothing gets in the way of cuddling that way~

I take the tags off and keep them on my pinboard. You can do the process of taking the tag off and leaving the little plastic thing on, but again, gets in the way of the fumo hugs.

Lint cloth for dust. This is the main thing.

I only had to use water a small amount of the time. I used a but if Shout and water for my Dekas when I first got them to make sure they were really clean.

I also used disinfectant Lysol spray and air freshener as well.

I live in a crowded ass LA and even near little toyko and I have yet to even meet a fellow fumo fan (or see a store selling fumos!). The first thing you need to get down with any sort of camera is lighting. You need more of it. But you don't want it be too harsh. You can play around with lamps and diffuse the light with paper. Or go outside on an overcast day or take photos in the shade. Natural light is easy to work with and most phone camera's will handle it well. Just make sure you are in focus.

Beyond that you could look into getting a tripod. If you feel crafty you could build a lightbox.
