You may not care but I had a dream this morning that I accompanied Perfume for a day of activities or something.

personally I think it's because she loves to sing and dance but hates being famous. from a young age she has dislplayed a passion for dancing but apparently she only had 2 friends as a kid. A-chan and some other girl who went to her main school. (correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the acting school they went to a cram school type of thing and they actually went to different main schools. not sure but either way my point is that the other friend may or may not have went to the actor school it was mentioned but I forgot) nocchi clearly doesn't like attention much I think what bothers nocchi isn't the touring, the interviews, the recording, the practicing, the shilling and the meet and greeting but the fact that she has to do all of those things combined giving her very little free time AND the fact that she can't live a normal life when she isn't working. Nocchi struggles to make friends and while she is introvereted she still must need some company at times and it must be hard making friends when you are a spergy ass autist AND the most iconic and recognisable member of the most famous trio in Japan.

not to mention nocchi never gets to use her voice. she didn't even want to be a dancer really she wanted to sing and dancing was just something she enjoyed so to be a glorified dancer must annoy her in the long run. they play whole shows without singing now I know it annoys A-chan but it also annoys nocchi.

nocchi just wants to sing dance and be left alone with a small group of friends that she can call on when she needs them. my guess is nocchi is the don't call me I'll call you type of person.

There's an essay she wrote as a kid that's like a time-capsule to her future self. It says she has four close friends. It's assumed to be at the actor's school but pre-Perfume. I'm not sure that she was friends with A-chan until Perfume:

I don't recall exactly where but I think I remember in some TV interview A-chan saying Nocchi was in some sort of advanced class and that's why they had picked her, I vaguely recall her doing an imitation of her overly dramatic singing style. Someone in the previous thread said it was because their heights were close - that's the first I've heard of that.

There are many things to pick up on concerning Nocchi's melancholia but they all seem like fairly disparate things. Like it seems to me she likes just bumming around her house. The other two take advantage of their free time and manage having active lives just fine, she's certainly an introvert, but it seems like she's boring by choice.

The most major thing to latch on to is what she recently said about marriage. At age 19 she seemed less dedicated to the thought of getting married, despite picking out an age that she would expect it:

Kashiyuka is chill as fuck. she pretty much indirectly got her way with perfume up until now and it seems she probably doesn't give a fuck anymore anyway. Yuka doesn't enjoy singing and says it a lot, she keeps saying things like I'm warming up to it, I'm getting more confident, I actually enjoy it a bit more but never says yeah I've become really passionate because she hasn't. she enjoys dancing but only because it's what she was passionate about as a kid. it was her childhood form of expression and now it's just her job, a dream come true.
Kashiyuka love looking appealing and her favourite part of dancing has become how she looks when she dances, while her dancing doesn't evolve like A-chans and isn't symmetrical and perfect like nocchi's she adds sex appeal to every swing and step than neither other does and she is clearly aware of what she is doing.

kashiyuka is chill as fuck she enjoys perfume and touring and talking to fans but she doesn't like being defined by it, she has a modest number of friends, none of them are pop idols other than kyary.

if they told yuka she had to be a lot more modest I dare say she would probably start frowning like nocchi as it's what she thinks makes her unique and she is proud that she contributes sex appeal to perfume.

They wanted to create something that wasn't like a rock or edm festival, but something new altogether and thus otonoko was born. Just as Perfume's stage personas have been to varying degrees an act (A-chan isn't that dumb and goofy, Kashiyuka isn't that cute, they both forced their cutesy idol voices early on, is it possible to cry as much as A-chan? Nocchi's easygoing persona is less obviously put on, but still... I'd wager Amuse know people have enjoyed spotting her zoning out on camera, so there's every possibility even that's an act) it sets a precedent for all Perfume content. We can't really know for sure that the things that are presented to us as more "genuine" (interviews, backstage footage, PTA blogs) aren't just as engineered. I mean obviously that's true of any celebrity, of course, but even if we were to come to certain conclusions, we can't know for sure how right we are. Surprise surprise, they ended up looking rather similar to some other futuristic outfits he's done. And the fan art looks a lot like those other outfits, which in turn makes it similar to the official stuff, simply because being fanart it intentionally tries to evoke the feeling of Sadamoto's work.

I just don't see how anyone can not think Nocchi is the most genuinely beautiful of the three.

Don't get me wrong; the others are adorable, and anyone who doesn't find their personalities & smiles instantly heartwarming should be cleansed from existence because an abomination without a soul has no place among the living... but those things contribute a lot to why I think they're so damn cute.

Yet even if I had no clue who she was and stumbled across a photo like this, with no smile and no discernible personality traits, I would still be utterly and hopelessly captivated by Nocchi's flawless perfection in both face and body. Just her proportions and features are enough to become lost in gazing at her pictures as a passionate art-lover would a renaissance masterwork.

She doesn't have to try to look like she's feeling genki or act cutesy or even crack a smile to enhance her appearance. In fact, I dare say she's even more attractive when she's not doing those things for the same reason a woman who's radiant without makeup is better off not wearing any; the transcendence of her beauty becomes fully apparent when one realizes it's effortless, and that without even trying, her natural beauty still reaches a level hopelessly unattainable to the vast majority of women regardless of how much time or money they invest in their appearance.

I honestly find it perfect how many of their costumes and dances are meant to give them the appearance of artificial, robotic beings or a higher evolution of experimental life-form; her level of physical perfection in most of their videos just isn't possible by human reproduction.

Incidentally this is why I believe my earlier "better without makeup" example also applies to Nocchi Though I understand a lot of guys think *no* Asian women look good sans makeup, I personally find her even more stunning without so much as a speck of product on her face. While she's still flawless, at least in my eyes, the lack of foundation gives her face just enough texture to look organic instead of manufactured. It shows she's very much human, and allows one to be humbled by the fact that that not only does he get to live in the same time and walk the same earth as a woman too beautiful to be real, he's privileged beyond words to have warmth and light added to his life by how brightly she shines when she shares her gift of music with the world.

I said this in a previous thread - while she often comes out looking the prettiest, or rather the most conventionally attractive of the three, her looks are also bafflingly inconsistent, oftentimes she's an incredible cool beauty, but sometimes she's a hideous frog-troll. So where Kashiyuka generally looks like Kashiyuka all the time, or A-chan generally looks like A-chan all the time (give or take a little weight loss), Nocchi seems to come in different forms depending on a number of factors, her changing haircuts, heaviness of make up, lighting, the effect on her mouth post-teeth straightening, it can make her appear to look like different people at times. She has a bit of a bulbous nose, which can change sizes according to the light, and she has a bit of a shallow brow, which at the wrong angle can make it look like her eyes are bulging out of her head. I'm not sure what's happened to her eyebrows, sometimes they look like they're barely there.

It's usually fine in the music videos or publicity shoots, and so she usually looks a step above the other two, but occasionally you'll catch a photo where she looks shockingly rough.

Of course her looks aren't the entire reason she's so liked, her laissez-faire attitude to most things draws people's attention too.

I love the way she leans back, annoyed. It's surprisingly good acting considering their acting is generally fucking poor and half the comedy of the show comes from that.

They never seem to know what to do with themselves if they're not dancing. When a music video has insert shots of them just singing to the camera they always just sort of awkwardly writhe around unsure what to do.

I think it could be pretty nice if on their next album they had a solo song each or something. Although I guess that could start arguments over what sort of song they each get.

I always thought it was neat how Dream Fighter was practically a Nocchi led song, the pitch is noticeably a little lower than usual. She would usually give way to the other two and just do backup stuff, while Kashiyuka would a bunch of solo moments, I guess because her voice has that weird distinctive quality. Nocchi's been granted a lot of noticeable solo moments since Magic of Love though, I remember people freaking out over that, and there's the bits in Pick Me Up where she really belts her line out.
I guess if it happened, Nocchi song=cool, Kashiyuka song=cute/sweet, A-chan song=???? She's the lead on most of them anyway.

The most apparent technological thing that's going on there is that the floor and walls are screens and the computer knows where the camera is to create the illusion of depth, that's pretty obvious, but they're also using the same set-up they use in the STORY performance to map Perfume in 3D space. Presumably it's main purpose is so those virtual blocks know where to be when they walk on them, but Rhizomatiks also realised they can make reflections with them.
