I've seen them twice and it's definitely pretty magical. The last time I saw them i danced the whole time and had a blast.
However, I gotta say I loved seeing Babymetal more and nothing can match the magic of Kyary.

Not that Kyary is as mature of a performer as the girls in Perfume, but for me she has more of a magical presence.

Plus it was my overall NY trip too, NY was great and then the shows were magical. I've never seen Kyary but I can understand that too, before seeing Perfume just comparing the music of the 2 Kyary has a lot of bangers and I'm sure the shows are great.
Some of the magical things that happened at Perfume's concerts though I'm not sure I'll have something close to that at either Kyary or Babymetal. It would be like if Su stared directly at you, she barely ever looks at the crowd though it's more about being in the presence of greatness (Both BM and Perfume are that precense to me :3)

Yeah, my first Perfume show was their first one in the US and at the end of the show the girls cried while they were saying good bye and that shit hit me in the feels.
I felt so proud being part of an audience that they enjoyed performing for that much.

I love the Babymetal crowd, it was exhausting moshing all show, but it was also a blast.

If you don't like that I can see Babymetal being a mixed experience though.

Kyary is just pure magic between the music and seeing her on stage... Fuckin' A.
Last time she came to SF I did the VIP tickets and got to take a picture with her and that was amazing, even though I posed like a imp out of hell.

Well come to think of it, the sort of goofing off they do on the radio show they don't really do anywhere else, besides Happy! and Chandelier House which were years and years ago now.

The Perfume LOCKS! photos tend to show them alone in that room, so besides the photographer being there, that's a pretty comfortable space for them, probably even moreso than the stage. Nocchi may well love performing on the stage but perhaps even that level of goofing off is too much for her self conscious autist brain.

Outside of their consistently bare legs, Perfume are surprisingly chaste, really. The other day I saw a Jap getting excited over how, in the recent Ladygunn photoshoot, Nocchi had a bare midriff. It's nothing extreme, but in the behind the scenes video they put out you can see her leaning down to put on a shoe or something and her shirt slides up her back, and apparently that's noteworthy!

And I guess it is in a way. The same day (I was binging through Perfume content) it struck me how a few years ago at an awards show she wore a semi-transparent top that exposed the fuck out of her shoulderblades. "Ooh, Nocchi's shoulderblades" I thought, and then I realised that's such a ridiculous thing to think.

Likewise there was a Gucci shoot or something where Kashiyuka wore a surprisingly revealing outfit. She gets away with it in a way A-chan never would thanks to her modest chest, she'll basically never have cleavage.

Did the live show change anyone's opinion on Cosmic Explorer? I feel like I have more respect for it how having seen it live. It feels like the whole thing was intended as a cohesive live experience from the start. Navigate, Cosmic Explorer, Story, and Star Train, and even Next Stage With You to an extent felt completely different in the context of the show versus listening at home.

Before I saw them I already liked the album overall but only like 3 or 4 songs I really liked and some I didn't care for at all.

After seeing them my absolute favorite that I've been listening to more than anything beforehand, Miracle Worker, I somehow like less. It was just unmemorable to me.

On the flip side Baby Face took over as my favorite song. It always makes me really happy when I listen to it now and I only thought it was decent before the show.

The whole album sounds better overall since.

Aw, this shit is sweet... I can't help but wonder if it doesn't kinda annoy them in the long run, though.

These five shows weren't the special events the previous "world tour"s have been, they're special in that they even did them, sure, but they were just a straight up extension of the Cosmic Explorer tour. It's a push to normalise the notion of them performing in the west, and these encore songs with the crowd clinging to the hope they'll join in over the mics like dancing (well, singing) monkeys when their show is over is a desperate effort to keep it being a super special event.

When this crowd singing encore thing first happened, it was indeed a special event and Perfume joined in to show their appreciation, but it set a precedent, and being overly cynical as I am, I wonder if maybe they don't slightly regret that now that they're hoping to make these performances a regular thing.

That said, the effort of the crowd in this video is kinda half-assed, so maybe the effect is waning. You can be sure people will be pissed off if their comes a time Perfume decide not to join in, though.

I guess they do play the music to accommodate it... my cynicism is probably misplaced.

The way I see it, they both went through something of a change around 2010/11.

A-chan decided to finally drop a little bit of weight so she matched the other two. Considering how long it took her to do this, I figure it couldn't have been easy.

At the same time Nocchi suddenly started changing up her hair. I think her best haircut is with the extreme side part and it pinned behind her ear eg: Fushizen na Girl or the Lovefool ad, although it's cut maybe a little too short in the Voice video. Also with her current centre parting and no bangs, Nee, it's first incarnation, is still the best that's looked. Spice was nice too. I was kind of on the fence, 'cause she didn't mention which DAC she uses, but after that last part about Nocchi I think we can definitely confirm Kashiyuka is an audiophile
