Well, if you consider that an idol band as to earn enough money for :
- The members
- The staff (so the producer and a few managers in the case of YLMLM)
- The venues
- All the guys that are actually composing the music and stuff

You start to understand why they have to do so much live per weeks and all the chekki "industry" to stay afloat. And Yurumerumo has a pretty good popularity in term of fanbase.

Even being a idol produccer doesn't seems to be a good plan financially speaking, except if one of your group manage to take off.

I would be very interessed to get the details of the budget of any group discussed here, but yeah they are sufficiently popular to be able to drag more or less one hundred peoples roughly twice per week for their regular live, to have (from my estimation) between 30 and 50 peoples sufficiently dedicated to follow them when they are doing a tour, and to fill venue with ~2000 peoples when they are organizing a big oneman live.

So yeah, they are pretty popular compared to most of the bands discussed here, but given they have not the "firepower" of a major behind them, I guess it can get pretty rough financially.

First of all: marrying a fan is extremely rare, if not even nonexistent. It's a huge taboo to communicate with fans outside the official channels, moreso dating them.

Well, for me I guess the difference is being able to basically communicate in japanese, which is especially simple during cheki as an idol will tend to speak slowly and clearly if it seems that you have some diffuclties to understand what she say. On the other hand, I understand almost nothing when I'm stuck in a conversation between multiple japanese interlocutors

I guess you can also survive by using some basic english, if you stick to simple words or randomly drop english word to compensate your lack of vocabulary it should work.

If you are just fearing the "akward" side of thing, just don't worry about it: most of time the wotas are really happy to have a foreigner participate in such events and will encourage you to do it.

Speaking of cheki's,there was discussion about cheki's in general a few threads in general.

Pictured are two major types of cheki's you can get taken at an event. These both fall under two-shot category, even if the right one is a solo photo. More on that later.

-left picture is a two-shot. It's the usual type you have people taking at an event. Typical flow is: you line up for the member you want your pic taken (sometimes you line up for the group and a staff member asks who you would like to take a pic with), when it's about to be your turn, a staff member collects the tickets. You walk up, say hi and so on. This is the point where you request the pose. After the pose, staffer takes the pic. Now, depending on the group, you have a set amount of time to chat with the member while the pic is being developed, signed, etc. After that is over, you get kindly moved away as the next person is having their moment.
-right one is called a pinshot. Sometimes you don't want a two-shot, so you opt for the solo pic. This is done the same way as a two-shot, but 's your turn, you should inform the staff and the idol that it's pinshot time. Pose can be designated. After that, the flow is similar as having a two-shot taken.

About signatures: there are many variations on the signing policy. A common one is that you can have your cheki signed after the cheki session. This usually consumes a "ticket" which you get from the merch table or by buying a CD during a release event. The other variation is that the cheki is signed during the two-shot session. Lyrical School has you do RPS with the member and if you win, your cheki is signed. Signatures can be typical name-and-date, sometimes the idol might doodle and scribble something on the cheki.

Note, these are only the two-shot variations. The third, common one, is the group cheki (kakomi cheki). That's the one where you are surrounded by the group. Usually these don't have much facetime compared to two-shot due to the fast pace of the photography.

Misako is a professional drummer. Miyuchii played bass in high school, she was a high schooler during the K-ON! craze. Yuzu was in a band before joining. The other three, haha, no.

It all depends on the day and event. Misako is playing the drums for real almost every time, Miyu and Yuzu seem to alternate. Miyu plays most bass solo's herself, other times she has her other bass (she has a fake and a real one on stage, easy to notice which is which) while backing track is playing. Yuzu plays synth solos rarely.

I read an article about male members of visual kei bands that sounded similar to your description. Anyone who wasn't huge got treated like a rank and file employee, sharing rooms with band members, food paid by the company, paid a basic stipend if anything at all. The producers being the real talent behind everything, from the concept to visual style to writing music. One difference was the fan meet events being apparently more like host clubs than the assembly line handshakes and photos of idol groups.
