So I'm trying my hand at making my kigurumi masks. I'm hoping if there's an interest I can start doing this more prominently. I'm starting with just making generic blanks since I'm terrible at painting, but I might improve on that later.

I'm selling the first three makes on my friend's etsy, if they sell I might just open my own shop and make a few different models and styles. it's a rough looking start thanks to shitty cameraphone pics but the material is solid. I made them at a local movie prop studio after hours. Fiberglass resin just like the real ones use.

Not wanting to sound to much like a shill, but what other kigurumi communities are there? I kinda want to pimp this a bit but I've been relying solely on /jp/ for kig talk I don't even remember anywhere else that talks about this subject.

Yeah that picture was taken before the final sanding on the back of the head was totally done. It's because it was done using a 3D model that was printed and assembled as a papercraft as a base for the general shape and then scuplted around. The material thinned out a bit on the top and back to reduce overall thickness and weight.

The lack of a mouth however is intentional. I wanted this to be a generic base, not any one specific character, that a buyer could build on to make into nearly any character they need. Despite how rigid it is, fiberglass is not that hard to sand and shave down, plus you can get cans of fiberglass putty that shapes like clay to build features like lips or ears. Even the eyes I left a little small and squared so you can shave them into the eyeshape of whatever character.

We use a lightweight blend of fiberglass that cures red, but I added some traditional grey compound that I had hoped would at least make it look more like a genuine kig, since all Japanese makers seem to use hardware store grey fiberglass.

Yeah, my hope is that anyone who wants to build their own kig, this is a way to essentially jump start their project. You spends weeks or months building one from scratch, or maybe days to a week or two starting with a premade base. That was my thinking anyway, plus it's drastically more affordable than a fully made one from Japan.

Gko is very reliable, they take around 2-3 months but everything is made to your perfect size. They do use very cheep material, trust me when I say the higher quality zentai is well worth the extra cash, also most good breast forms are between $50-$100+ So that's were some of the cost comes from. I guarantee the masks are usually bigger looking in person, but certain masks, like smaller Nukopan masks, won't fit. When I put on my kig mask, I put it on an angle so I can slip my head into it easier. Plus, the jaw section of the mask usually has the head hole closer to the chin.

Honestly, I like how shiny materials look with kig masks a lot more than regular cloth. It just feels more visually "right" to me.

On the other hand (And somebody please correct me if I'm wrong), I've heard it's not the most comfortable thing in the world to wear for any decent period of time (As if the mask and hadatai weren't uncomfortable enough already). So give and take, I guess.

My catsuit has an attached mask to ti which is abit tight on my face so my nose starts to hurt after a while because the mask also puts pressure on your nose.
If it is hot you will sweat a lot and after a while all the water that runs down your body gets stuck in your socks.

He lives in London, won't meet any other kigs because of the bad rep he's made for himself. And it should look like he's in a hotel room, because he always is.

From what O\I can see, although I may be wrong, is that the hair was made out of the wefts which are used to make wigs. That is a long ribbon where the hair hangs down like fringe. Normally sewn to a wig cap in horizontal rows that overlap.

In this case it looks like the edge was fastened on each side of the zipper, and the hair pulled together to make pigtails at each ear.

Just my observation.

Is there face attached? Or is it just a wig you put on over a mask and zip shut?
