Are we allowed to talk about ramen here? It can be japanese culture, right?
How do you like yours, /jp/? Been wanting to try out different methods of ramen that aren't american brands so I figured asking you where to start would be a great way to go about it. I'd go as far as ordering abroad for this.
I made ramen out of flour, kansui, and water once, it was good. However, I could not pound it thin enough, the noodles were very thick.

That was really relaxing to watch.
Daikaya in DC, across the street from the Verizon center. They have wooden benches and sell three things: ramen, Sapporo, and ice cream.
I had the shoyu. Best I've had outside of Japan.

the stuff in the glass looks like literal piss
There's a lot of japanese themed cafes in my city but their ramen is really bad. I especially remember the one with the fried soft-shelled crab dipped inside the ramen bowl, yuck!
Ramen is not THAT good. You could buy weeks worth of your favorite instant noodles instead.
What's the best instant ramen on the market? (Taking into account both cost and quality)
I want to buy a bulk from amazon and live off it forever.
>>15714091
Sapporo Ichiban or Myojo Chukazanmai if you're willing to shell out some extra bux
>>15714012
if your piss looks like that you might be dehydrated
drink more water
We had a nice ramen thread not too long ago
Does the noodles and the soup don't mix that well in ramen or do I just happen to eat shit ramen all the time?
From plenty of Ramen I've tasted so far, it might as well seperate the noodle and the soup.
eating miso ramen with tofu right the fuck now op
>>15700570
Tonkotsu, shoyu, thick and creamy.
Oh my god, this is all I need.
Ramen is a meme food.
>>15721141
That's sushi actually. No one can deny this.

But those are my two favorite foods, aside from curry, really spicy curry.
Consider myself lucky to have a great ramen place near me.
Authentic Japanese prep. It's a small shop in a food court of a Japanese market. Gets really crowded
Haven't been able to find anything close to it in taste with all the non Japanese "ramen" places I've been to.

instant ramen is

>>15722382
I want to live in it.
>>15722477
Thats pretty expensive for instant noodle?
>>15721062
How thick can you go?
I mean like in some cases they literally put the bone fat in.
>>15724852
dont think so.
instant noodle from convenience store is ~200en
>>15724265
same here
I spend way too much money at that ramen place
it's unfortunately expensive (13USD a bowl with a side of rice)
glad I don't live too close to place otherwise would go broke
>>15722489
those are the mediocre brands really
maruchan has decent instant yakisoba though
>>15700570
Udon is better

Wait a minute. You're talking about the Santouka in Costa Mesa, aren't you? It's a 10 minute drive from where I live too. It's great!
>>15726061
Actually I'm talking about the Santouka in Arlington Heights, Illinois (the other US location), but yes, it's fantastic! Haven't found an equivalent in all of Chicago
>>15724854
Pretty thick, though, the place I've been to you could choose the texture of the noodles, the fattiness and the thickness of the broth.
>>15705017
Was enjoying it until the green onion part, when he doesn't remove the browned bit, and just slices everything together.
>>15725995
>both cost and quality

>vegan
This should be illegal.
Ramen is overrated.
I'd rather have a steak.
>>15721141
Does that matter?
>>15726353
Why would they put the egg still in its shell?
How exactly are you supposed to eat that?
>>15728288
It matters if you want to be a memester who feeds on memes.
>>15728433
That's a whole peeled egg, anon, you need to get your eyes checked
>>15728501
>>15726353
Pics not related? because they don't look that thick and creamy.
>>15729002
pic was a torigara based ramen I had in tokyo, so it doesn't look that thick, but all the collagen gave it that rich mouthfeel. if you're aiming for THICC, there's always tsukemen
>>15729155
Tsukemen a shit
how's Indo Mie Mi Goreng for a first-timer?
