Some here are really stretching it, featuring a side character or gyaru or social outcasts or just strong-willed girls rather than "yankees". The quality also varies.

Any further and you're just getting into stuff like Toradora with scowling tsunderes who just like to hit others.

Unfortunately yankee girls just don't seem as common. But others know more than I do.
