Insane BMS is a waste of time, genoside is a collection of everything worth playing from it.
If you're using LR2 as a replacement for IIDX, switch over ASAP, but if there's no other choice, stick to genoside and IIDX conversions.
I found the LR2 ladder to be a bit easier than the IIDX difficulty scale, and a lot more boring.

Don't put it on your desktop. You can connect a separate monitor to your PC and have your controller on a stand in front of that monitor somewhere else.

I assume you're referring to the bullshit slowdowns?

Although those chords did get a bit memey at the end there.
>>
>>15583988
What's wrong with Technomotion?

>>15584000
Possession is really one of the best bemani songs musically in recent memory. I finally passed it in DDR on difficult and those jumps destroyed me, thankfully the live version chart is less memey
>>
>>15584015
>>15584017
I don't play DDR but the chart is much cooler there. I saw the guy jumping around like crazy and it really makes me wanna learn the game
>>
>>15584043
the ddr chart is pretty much a cookie cutter boss song

there's fast-ish streaming, a couple of slowdowns that are tough to read

the most unique part is the jump jacks which are absolutely horrible unless you have a ton of stamina
>>
>>15584000
Because it's a DDR crossover and they kept the speed changes from DDR.
>>
>>15584061
>slowdowns that are tough to read

Can you actually "read" those bullshit speed changes? I thought they pretty much existed to make people fail so they have to pay more to try again.
>>
>>15584061

Possession Expert looks really tame for a 17. Those jumps are no worse than Drop Out's
>>
>>15584104
it's faster than drop out, and the jumpstreams last much longer

>I thought they pretty much existed to make people fail so they have to pay more to try again.
Yes.
>>
>>15584094
how do you think people played ddr before 6th mix? they sucked it up and read the notes on 1x

it was awful and no one should ever have to go back, but it's a big part of ddr's difficulty in the harder charts
>>
>>15584123

I'll give you they're longer by a few measures, but the speed is almost exactly the same.

Yeah Possession is 370, and Drop out 260, but Possession uses weird non consecutive 12ths that makes the math hard.

Going by ear, they are the same.

To be honest, after thinking about it a bit, I'm 98% sure they are printed when they're generated.

It's easier to believe there are printers capable of printing glossy, full color, smudge proof cards in a few seconds than the idea every single card is in there waiting to be produced like a vending machine.

It's simple spacial reasoning. Those cards are what? 2x3 inches? There are hundreds of appeal cards. Can you image having to load hundreds of stacks of specific cards into that machine? Cards that you no doubt had to custom order and were shipped from Japan.

It's either that, or it uses industry standard blank cards with and printer than uses industry standard ink cartridges that can be replaced almost anywhere from local supply stores.
>>
Does DP in DDR work the same way as IIDX? Player going nuts jumping from board to board?

I've seen 2 people playing together and changing plataforms and everything. Is that some kind of versus/co-op mode or japanese players doing crazy stuff?
>>
>>15584655

>Player going nuts jumping from board to board?

I've not seen this happen. They just dedicate one hand to a sid and hope for the best by doing wacky techniques.

On DDR, though. They largely stay centered using both bars at the same time.
>>
>>15584686
I didn't mean it literally, it's just that I find it impressive. I played shitty low level songs once and got extremely tired and that was from the time I was hitting the gym everyday.

That's probably because I was playing wrong jumping like a monkey instead of simply moving my legs but regardless, it's cool to see high level leg games.
>>
>>15584655
Are you sure that was DDR and not Pump? Pump has charts for multiple players across both pads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzGoYygJwfc
>>
>>15584628
It's a printer. It prints during the first song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZW3Lax9rlo

I assume it's japanese wackiness watching it again. "Hey bro go for the green notes and It'll take the red and blue"
>>
>>15584741
That's a custom stepchart they made, an edit. It's in the title (Couple edit)

Couples/unison was a mode in the older DDR mixes where two players could play together across both pads
>>
>>15584719
I hate pump.... but that looks like a lot of fun.

>>
>>15584719

>>

>>
>>15584781

>>
>>15584781
How am I supposed to imagine that?
It's good to have an active imagination, but I think you're taking it too far.
>>
>>15584780
each player has two arrows

i saw some mexican kids playing it once at the arcade

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-GjbE-GQ4Q

there are other neat co-op charts too like this 4 player one where you're supposed to basically run across the pad

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygu2AtYPg5o

too bad DDR doesn't have this
>>
>>15584810
The 4 player one looks kinda cool, the 5 player one looks boring as fuck. Everyone just has two buttons, what's the challenge?
>>
>>15584833
>what's the challenge
that's not really the point, it's just fun and silly

it's like someone made a joke and they realized it

it's just neat

some of the 4 player charts are quite difficult though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVPTIVHS7hc
>>
>>15584810

DDR has fucking stagnated. Even Andamiro is keeping up with the times better in Prime/Infinity, and they also fucking sell coin pusher games. At least it's not ITG though. ITG is a fucking cancer in the rhythm game community. Requires the physical adeptness of a parkinsons patient to play, shuffling back and forth on the center plate while they desperately cling to the bar to stay upright. PIU actually requires a modicum of physical athleticism to go along with the arrow stomping. Not to mention all the freestyle.

Plus, co-ops can get really gay.

>>
>>15584844

That's UCS tho. The only people who care about UCS are Andamiro, mexican step makers, and Legion players.
>>
>>15584810
That 4 player chart is pretty cool. It's kinda awesome when all 4 of them are jumping on the board. And

>That one guy who flips his body while jumping across the board

I wish I had a group of skilled friends who are into rhythm games
>>
>>15584854

You'd be surprised, anon. Even some of the remote regions of the US have random rhythm game players who are actually alright/good. GX cabs for PIU/Step F2/converting to ITG are cheap. Just gotta find a mall/movie theater/arcade whose ready to get rid of one, and swipe it up for some change. Friend got a rather old, unupdated one for ~$600 and just bought a Prime Kit to go in it. But really, he could have just tossed StepF2 in it for basically nothing.
>>
>>15584737

How does it know you'll want one?
>>
>>15584864
Because you pay an extra credit and select "generator start" when you play the game.

>he can't handle 16th streams
>>
>>15584848

>PIU actually requires a modicum of physical athleticism

You can get fucked if you don't think ITG is just as physically taxing as Pump.

It might not look impressive but it still takes more stamina and energy than full on sprinting.

I believe it's only second to Boxing/MMA in terms of cardiopulmonary strain.
>>
I was playing Extreme at my local arcade the other day. A guy came up and said he used to play ITG a lot before our local machine got sold. He asked to play with me.

He asked me to pick songs without cross overs. I tried my best but most high level songs in that game have a few.

He walked away in the middle of the second song because "Fucking crossovers man"
>>
>>15584899

I would have picked Can't Stop Fallin' in Love (Speedy MIx) out of spite. Was he an old fuck with a cane? Why the crossover hate?
Sounds like he was never any good.
>>
>>15584883
>>15584889

I played ITG2 up until about 2-3 years ago. Quit because of the community. Couldn't play a single tournament without someone crying to organizers over a "bad switch" in the pad, and oh look, here comes a 15 minute delay while the organizers unscrew the brackets and test the switches. Yeah, cool, let me just lose my adrenaline boost while you get your ego/pride massaged over a miss in a drill that totally wasn't your fault. Seriously, if this happened once a tourney, I'd be fine. But it was getting to the point where people would call pad after every fucking song.

So, yes, I know about stamina drain. I know about adrenaline boosts. ITG is not second to boxing/MMA AT ALL. PIU isn't close either. But it's definitely way more taxing than ITG. D25's and D26's are closer to later insanity workouts than anything. And they keep pumping out harder and harder charts, is the thing. And fun ones, too. Unless ITG, which is not only stagnant, but just literally unfun. It's worse than professional melee, and that is full of literal no-fun autists.

Even competitive pump players love challenging fun charts. 4-Panel players are no-fun, all the time.

>>
You think a place that owns an ITG machine would be willing to sell one of their pads? Do the big arcade pads even separate? Wonder how much it would even cost.

The ITG pads are so much better than the arcade DDR ones. Those old Afterburner pads seemed like a home equivalent but they were ass from what I've read.
>>
>>15585017
Never realized how impossible this chart looks on 1x. I never would've made it in the old days
>>
>>15585027
It's in most of the versions, even Ace. But yeah, it's awesome. Not exhausting, fits perfectly to the music, but not boring either.

>>15585033
I hate reading on 1x but I actually think this song is one of the better ones for it because of how accurately the notes fit to what's happening in the song. But I'm more of a rhythmic player than a reaction-based player anyways, I like to read DDR/ITG at around 500 bpm.

>>
>>15584936
The big problem with the ITG community is that after Roxor got sued and machine modding/hacking became commonplace and DDR Supernova being a disappointment, the community seemed to have steered in favor of "hardcore" charts almost out of spite for Supernova being mostly 7/8s on Heavy, despite the last arcade installment being over 3 years after Extreme and that literally every other Bemani game was becoming drastically more difficult. Konami kept trying to keep the bulk of the game casual friendly with slim pickens for the more avid playerbase because they wanted DDR to be more relaxed and appeal to a more casual audience. Their corners were that if DDR was flooded with lots of boss level songs, it would alienate/intimidate novice players. While DDR was deader than disco in the US, Supernova still managed to do decent enough to warrant a sequel that got an official release overseas while being successful enough in Japan to continue onwards.

Now let's more onto the ITG community. After Roxor was sued, the last few "pure" machine operators basically said "fuck it" and threw up a shitload of simfile packs. Many of the early ones had full chart sets. However, doubles was heavily neglected outside of a few chart makers. Over time, they started abandoning novice/easy/medium/hard charts and songs would only have one difficulty. Then we have prominent chart makers having a falling out due to not caring anymore, which is where you get MUH STAMINA faggots creeping in the scene, which has only escalated as time went on when even more content creators retired.

The community didn't give a single shit about holding onto the dwindling playerbase despite being given a game where you can stuff in literally THOUSANDS of songs to suit anyone's tastes and modify the UI that can keep the game looking fresh and new instead of a dinosaur relic. Instead, they choose the most lifeless boring UI, even on machines located at public arcades, and cram in dozens of 10+ minute-long songs that have the same copy-pasted stream patterns at 2XX BPM and cockwag over who can cheese the timing windows the hardest so they can boast about "world records" on charts that only three people (being generous here) have ever played.

The USB standard limits keyboard presses to 6 simultaneous keys, which makes Dirty of Loudness impossible to pass.

Get a controller.

This isn't true though, just make sure to get a proper keyboard with anti-ghosting and n-key rollover so that each key press is registered individually.
Even on normal keyboards certain keys are not subject to the limit, like ctrl and alt.

Fucking incompetent nips. Only three iterations of a game and already the difficulties are wildly wrong.

Most Gravity Wars 14s are probably harder than preceding 15s.
>>
Anyone have a guide on how to get started with PPD?
>>
I think there needs to be a higher difficulty level in IIDX. I don't care what you call it, but it needs to be.

I say this not because it is too easy or anything, but because 1. there really isn't a shitload of songs to enjoy for those IIDX monsters and 2. A lot of the times the songs that are for them leave a vacuum of difficulty us regular fucks can't do anything with.

So songs that are 9, 10, or 11 on Another get a higher level. Every song gets a 12 chart. I know this would force a good number of songs to be goofy as shit, but I feel like that's part of the fun.

Songs that are actually 12s on Another either get a higher order 12 or that 12 moves up to the "Super Another" difficulty and a nice 10 or 11 takes its place, depending on how low the difficulty is for the Hyper chart. Basically, there shouldn't be a gap in difficulty greater than 2 or 3.

Now everyone of every skill level can play and enjoy any song.

sounds stupid desu

most songs just aren't suited to a level 12 chart. forcing one on them is just dumb.

also good players play more for score than for the chart difficulty. maybe you should become a good player.
>>
>>15587515
This has been said for a long time, and I think it's justifiable. If they don't bother, however, what they really should do is have a massive shift downward for everything. Leave the 2000+ note monsters at 12 and work down from there.

I have a small few 12s cleared, and I honestly wouldn't object to all of them being downgraded to 11s, based on how easy they are compared to other 12s, as well as how strong some 11s are and which 11s I can't yet pass.

Anecdotal and all, but if Nemesis H14 is a 10, then Ghost Revival A14 has no business being a 12.

Things are just as muddled at the bottom end of the scale too. 1-3 are mostly indistinguishable, and there's arguably no huge distinction in charts until you hit 6 or 7. A global downshift would give more significance to these ratings as well.
>>
>>15588219

I'm just trying to put myself in their shoes. There are only 250ish 12s in all of IIDX minus the ones they've taken out over the years.

If you can effortlessly AAA most every 12 in the game, are you ever going to play a fucking 8 or 9 ever again? I know I wouldn't. I'd play it once, get the FC and 99% EX and call it done forever.

I can't image playing 3y3s for the 304th time to try and get 2 or 3 more points. Sounds horrible. I try not to play the same songs more than a couple times a week.

I'll only go back to play it when I'm good enough to get the higher grade on it. Repeat indefinitely until most things are AA'd or better.
>>
can anyone tell me how to actually play games that are not osu? do I actually need to get an invite to a private tracker to try bemani? I don't think we have arcades with it here in Finland

Stepmania is free. You can get DDR packs or download original files.
LR2 is free, search online for a setup guide. There's IIDX packs available, and there's also original BMS files. It also supports 9k PMS for pop'n emulation.
Actual DDR and IIDX have to be done through everyone's favorite sekrit club private tracker, and require a bit more setup and won't save scores unless Thank You For Playing.
>>
>>15588286
Quick google gives me this http://www.sugoi.fi/ , you can probably find more if you search.
You can play on PC stepmania, LR2 (iidx clone), K-shoot mania (Sound Voltex clone).

>>
>>15588286
So the easiest way to play IIDX and Sound Voltex... Is to play clones of them instead.

If you want to play IIDX, look into downloading LR2 (lunatic rave 2).

If you don't have a dedicated controller, you can play with keyboard pretty well, although depending on your keyboard you'll probably have ghosting problems.

Your best option to get songs is to download song packs since it is incredibly difficult to find single downloads;

in terms of packs, the genoside starter pack has a decently large collection of quality songs (not IIDX songs, but originals in the same vein). You should also be able to find Dan and nonstop courses for the pack.

There's also the Insane BMS pack, which is... Very large to say the least. I think it may have practically every LR2 original song. This includes the genoside pack, which is essentially a "greatest hits" abridged version of the insane pack. EXTRACT THE INSANE PACK UNDER KOREAN LOCALE IF YOU GET IT.

You can also get IIDX song packs, but you'll have a tough time finding them, let alone with videos included.

As for Sound Voltex, download K-Shoot Mania.

You can also play this one with keyboard, but using keys instead of analog dials for the lasers is pretty unwieldy.

This one actually has an in game song downloader included for songs submitted to the game's portal, but you can also download them manually as files.

You'll also have an easier time finding Sound Voltex song packs for K-shoot than IIDX song packs for LR2.

If you want to play the real deals, you can download the arcade HDD rips, if you are willing to appease the rhythm game Illumanti by drawing the mighty pig goddess Cindy. Alternatively find a friend who will invite you.

>>
>>15588266
I don't know about IIDX but I constantly play lower level songs in DDR despite breaking into 18s. Some people like taking breaks or playing songs they like. Hell you said it yourself that people like more than one thing; you don't have to be super focused AAA mode at all times.

I don't really know why you're trying to suggest things for a level you clearly are not at yet.
>>
>>15588922
Yeah, that's essentially the plan.
>>
>>15588913

I was actually looking into this just yesterday.

To use just the turntable by itself takes quite a bit of doing and knowhow.

However, you could probably use the whole thing for just the scratch by connecting it via bluetooth. Would be a pain in the dick to have to use batteries just for that though.

Here's the video I found while digging around for technical information about the encoder's wiring and whatnot.

GGPon.

It's an optical encoder but not a toothed gear. The encoder wheel sits on a very heavy bearing that attaches to the TT. Between the TT and the platform is a teflon disk and a pad of felt.

So it's kinda like a scroll wheel on a mouse?

Exact same concept. The encoder wheel itself is a pretty hefty piece of sheet metal and the bearing has some weight to it. Thing can take some serious abuse and keep spinning fine.

What would be the ideal redone difficulty scale for IIDX? I think a 1-15 scale would be nice but 1-20 would give them a lot more room to work with.

Finally getting the hang of 11s, I have about 20 clears now, but the difference in difficulty between some 11s in insane. I can't imagine what 12s must be like. They last redid the difficulty at what....Happy Sky? I'd say we're due.

>>
>>15592234
20 gets towards pop'n tier difficulty.

15 would be great.

SDVX doesn't need more difficulties, they just need to compress 1-7 to 1-4, 7-11 to 4-7, 12-13 to 7-10, and everything else fills in 10-16.

As of now there is practically no meaningful difference for all levels below 12.

I think all Bemani games should have the same difficulty scales. 1-20, where they are all more or less equal in terms of skill and challenge at the same level.

That way you can see that you can pass 14s on Pop'n, 15s on DDR, 16s on SDVX, and 12s on IIDX and know that your best at SDVX.

Yeah some games are harder than others but doing 20s on any would be considered mastery. That way everyone could know in an instant how good you are at a game, even if they know nothing about it. Almost like how Dans work.

If you're on premium free and you run out of time in the middle of a song, do you get to finish the song or does it drop you out immediately?
>>
Do I need psun in sound voltex to have all songs unlocked? I don't really care about restarting after a few songs and having to keep a spreadsheet.
>>
>>15589874
So what's the verdict? Is it better to go for the konami official or does a dj dao work just as well? Do you get better spin on the turntable?

I guess I ask from the assumption that the person who did the review actually noted these things.
>>
>>15592569
It should just take you to the "saving data" screen right after you finish the song and look at the results/grade screen.

>>15592613
PSUN will automatically unlock all songs, but if you're running it offline there's various hex edits that will do that as well.

Check the data thread on sows.
>>
>>15592534
supernova is a meme mix so you have to make sure to select "all music" mode while you're starting the game. it's on the second page of categories. then you just double-tap down to increase difficulty, or double-tap up to reduce it. you can also just change the difficulty using the cabinet buttons when you're in the pre-song options menu (hold green instead of tapping it when you pick your song) that's also where you change speed mod, scroll direction, noteskin, etc.
>>
>>15592622
So if I understand it right, you only get "safe" songs in offline mode? And I found hex edit that marks all songs safe, so if I use it, I will be able to play everything? I found a post that says with this way you can only play third song without limits, and it's better to transpose higher difficulties in music_db.xml.
So which method is better?
>>
>>15592725
>you only get "safe" songs in offline mode
normally, when you play sdvx in the arcade, if you're a guest or a fresh e-amuse card, you get to pick difficulties up to 7 for your first song, then 8 for your second, then anything for your third

7 is the safe cutoff IIRC.

To change this (again, in the legitimate arcade version with legit e-amuse) you have to complete skill analyzer courses. ex: a skill level 05 course with 12-13 level songs allows you to pick 13, 14, and then anything in your normal games, should you pass the course and gain the rank of skill level 05.
>>
>>15592737
Okay, so I just need to hex edit then? Thanks.
>>
>>15592746
No, you really need psun to enjoy the game. More info is in the data thread
>>
>>15592771
I dunno, people are saying in thread that without psun you only can't save scores (and have to restart).
>>
>>15592778
Pretty sure there's no way of playing >7s on first song without being online. SDVX II doesn't have that restriction though, so get that instead if you don't have an ID.
>>
>>15592814
when I was at California Extreme this year, they had two SDVX cabinets. When you started, there was a orange thing warning you that E-amuse wasn't working. You could select Light Start, Standard Start, or Blaster Start. Choosing Standard Start would allow you to pick any song for any of the stages. In the screen where you select your appeal card, your name was displayed as Tokyo Attack. I'm not sure how they had those games set up.
>>
>>15592814
That what I was wondering about, I can edit music_db.xml to make 14->5 and 15->6 difficulties so I can play them on first song, but there is also a hex edit that makes everything "safe". But I don't know if that hex edit unlocks everything on first song or if it's just for no-failure purposes.
>>
>>15592851
Oh, didn't know that actually made them playable. You should be fine then, I think.

The 'safe songs' hex edit is just for playing all three songs. It doesn't unlock anything.
>>
>>15592880
>The 'safe songs' hex edit is just for playing all three songs. It doesn't unlock anything.
I'm really confused, being able to play all difficulties on all three songs is what I meant by "unlocking". What does hex edit do then if it doesn't allow me to play >7 songs on first song?
>>
>>15592901
It makes it so if you fail a song, it lets you continue instead of game over
>>
>>15592901
If you play a song that isn't marked 'safe' and fail, you'll be booted out of the session pre-maturely. The edit avoids that.

Everyone says to expand the scale, but why not just do a mass rerank? Push a bunch of charts down a level or two and fill out the lower levels. Rerank all of the pre-RED charts too, there's no reason I know You know should sit next to I Was The One (80's EUROBEAT STYLE)
>>
>>15592322
I like this idea a lot actually. It does seem weird how spaced out everything is. GFDM essentially being on a 1-100 scale, DDR on 20, IIDX on 12. No consistency at all.

>>15593263
I think a mass rerank creates the same problems lower down the levels. The problem I have with 11s now is that there's so much variation in difficulty. If there's more levels then they can get more granular with their difficulty ratings.
>>
>>15593263
Right now in IIDX there's a lot of variations in 11's and 10s. Mass reranking everything would increase this problem, and probably extend it to 9's as well.
>>
>>15592234
1-20 would be wonky and would result in fuckloads of songs having extremely questionable ratings a la DDR.

1-15 should have been the norm like a decade ago. DP alone would have made 1-12 outdated back in 4th style.

I'm thinking it'd because I did the skill analyzer before I added the edit. Can I "unanalyze" shit or did I just get a janky edit?

The default ones on my TC+ feel and sound kinda bad so I was considering an upgrade. Some guy said Sanwas are slightly quieter, but playing on cab to confirm isn't an option, so I'd appreciate some more info on that.

Also, would it be difficult to swap the Omrons if I do get them? They come with 100g switches and springs which would probably be way too heavy.

standard is 3 songs/credit for .50-1 dollar usd

.50 for older mixes generally, while something new would probably be a dollar

i played on a cab once that was 50 cents for 5 songs, shame it was a betson DDR X and barely worked

if you put your weight on the bar and jumped, the pads would lean back, the left arrows on both sides were unresponsive, none of the pads could hold freezes worth a damn, and the volume was turned down lower than almost anything else in the arcade. i could have played the music on my phone speakers and it would have been louder.

Is museca 2 an online update? is it out now at us round 1s?
>>
>>15598862
It's an online update. Dunno about Round 1 but the ones here in Thailand are already at the new version yesterday.
>>
>>15598694
Start with something like stepmania, then transition to using a pad for it and moving to DDR/PIU, or if you'd like to go the finger route download LR2 and transition into IIDX/SDVX.
>>
>>15598862
>Museca 2

You mean 1+1/2

Actually what the fuck is going on with Konami that they refuse to release a game with a new number? We got Season 2 of SDVX III, Reflec Beat Volzza 2, Museca 1+1/2, what's next? IIDX 24.5?
>>

yeah i know that it's called 1+1/2

i was just being silly

maybe i'll call it museca 12 instead

In AUS we pay 2$ for three songs with no extra. It's the standard. If you're lucky, you get extra, if you're unlucky, you get 2.
The golden days were 20c for four songs. I miss those days.

I don't know about the SDVX controllers but with IIDX the materials they use to construct the controller really make the buttons feel like shit to press compared to AC, they must be much more solidly mounted in a machine because it feels much better when you bottom them out.

What kind of shitty name is Beatmania IIDX anyway? There was never a Beatmania II to have a DX version of, nor was there a Beatmania DX to have a 2nd version of.

Beatmania IIIDX

because it was scrapped like it said on remy but I have no proof of that since they didn't post a source.

I think it's believable enough because there would be no reason to name their revival Beatmania III when Beatmania II never came out. However it's possible they named it III so it wouldn't be confused for DX.

Does anyone know anything about this? I went to an arcade in Tokyo and they had this "beatstage" machine. It's smaller than a normal IIDX machine, the turntables are closer to the buttons and smaller and there's no bass platform . Perfect to play while sitting on a stool.

Is this what Beatmania II was before it became IIDX? I'd love to get my hand on this kind of machine, alot easier to fit in a garage.

Seriously though, how do you all manage your anger from these games. Sometime I just absolutely go off and try to destroy everything in sight.

Hitting my desk as hard as I can, throwing weight around. I tried putting one of those grip strength weight by my setup so I could squeeze it to burn off my anger but only the sweet soothing sounds of destruction would quell my rage.

I'm going to have to completely rebuild my dao FP7 at this rate, and a complete rebuild of my SDVX controller is not far off as all of djdao's products are made of Styrofoam.

A sane man can only take so many 78% fails, AA fails, and songs of the same difficulty far and away harder than the other before he becomes unhinged.

>>15603320
It doesn't matter that you only broke $20 worth of equipment because you had the potential to break $300 worth of equipment and wouldn't really know how much damage you've done til after the fact.

Especially in regards to the SDVX controller which is very fragile around the encoders.

Also monetary value doesn't matter, you broke something you enjoy (probably) in a fit of anger because you didn't get what you want and I quote, "only the sweet soothing sounds of destruction would quell my rage". You should legitimately seek therapy for anger issues if you have a habit of hitting things that are precious to you in anger.

Also unrelated but you are the worst types of customers to deal with in Round 1.
>>
>>15603393

It's really more the game's fault.

If 11s were really 11s and not a hodgepodge of 10s, 11s, and 12s, and 14s were really 14s and not various 12s, 13s, 14s, and 15s, then ,maybe I wouldn't be so pissed.

Bemani inconsistency is what really enrages me.

Do you think, as a 8th dan, I would get mad at not clearing a 12? Of course not.
>>
>>15603339
Think about it, you basically reverted to primal rage and broke an expensive thing. This is not okay, use anger management techniques and take it easier, it's just a game.
I experienced a lot more raging when I played osu due to their retarded ranking system, I raged so hard when I couldn't progress and saw lost ranks after every play (never threw pen though, in worst cases punched a wall). Switched to bemani@home and took it less seriously and now I'm having a great time playing alone.
>>
>>15603415
You are making excuses to justify your anger issues.
Also presumably you're talking about SDVX in which case none of the 14s feel like 15s outside of S rank on the tier list. There's obviously a huge gap between say Blue Rain and Mis Tek. However they are both 14s, one is an incredibly easy 14, the other one is hard 14.

The only 14s that I remember thinking, "this should be a 15" are Stella Sinistra if you can't read it and ぀ぢやき. SDVX is for the most part pretty consistent with difficulty (for now). Regardless you need to find a healthy output for your anger, taking it out on controllers isn't healthy.
>>
>>15603482

Nope. Valid excuse.

If you can AA an X difficulty, you should NEVER be fucked by a song of the same difficulty.

This is largely where my anger comes from. Some nonsense that tries to convince you that you're not as good as you are.
>>

>>
>>15603563
>If you can AA an X difficulty, you should NEVER be fucked by a song of the same difficulty.

That is absolutely not true at all and you need to change that mindset. This would be true if it was say pop'n music that has a fuck off huge range of difficulty but IIDX only goes up to 12.

Bemani has certain thresholds of what consists of X difficulty. If a song is harder than a 10 but easier than a 12 then it is an 11.

For example if you're playing arbitrary number the video game where anything over 500 is 12 and anything under 300 is an 10. If your skill level is 400 then you should be able to do about 50% of 11s.

If you don't change your mindset now you're gonna get really angry once you hit 12s/15s because Innocent Walls is nowhere near the difficulty of Himiko and you can practically subdivide 12s into 12.1 to 12.12 where each subtick is a completely different difficulty than the previous one..

Pop'n anger's me something fierce as well. Just not so much. I guessing because simply it's so much more physical I don't have the strength to be mad.

I still think if you can do a 42. you should be able to do ANY 41 but it's a little more loose with Pop'n.
