Can anyone give me a quick explanation on how to host this game? I don't play dota at all so I don't know how to properly. I have downloaded the game, the mod (obviously) and the tool kit they said was necessary, but It seems like I'm still missing something.
Can someone give me a hand?

To make a lobby to play by yourself:
1. Click on the Arcade tab in the top right
2. Click on Library in the row beneath
3. Click on DotS
4. Click on Create Custom Lobby. Enter anything for a password (this just makes the lobby private so that random people can't join).
5. Click Create.
6. Click on Start game in the bottom right.
If you want to experiment, you might want to click on the "enable cheats" button in the Create Custom Lobby box, and familiarize yourself with the cheats in dota 2. http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Cheats
