Sometimes I feel like I'm the only IIDX player here stuck on 7's
>>
How do you fucks even afford controllers? I don't get enough NEETbux
>>
>>15542807
DIY, you can make shitty controller with chinese switches for pretty cheap.
>>
>>15542803
How long have you been playing?
I spent over a month on 7s but I feel like I took longer than I needed because I went through 8s and 9s very quickly.
>>
what are you supposed to put in the "memo" spot on an e-amuse card? your name?
>>
>>15542803
nah there's more

i've been stuck on ITG 9s for like the past 9 months, but i still have fun with the game and that's all that matters..!
>>
the revolutionary etude has ~2100 notes in the span of 2.5 minutes

that's about 1680 notes per 2 minutes.

the average level 12 iidx chart has ~1700 notes per 2 minutes.

piano players are filthy casuals
>>
>>15542877
i've been playing for a little over half a year on CS, but I haven't played very frequently. I'm starting to tire of the relatively small song selection in the CS releases, and AC is a no-go because the nearest Round 1 is 2 hours away and I don't have a car, plus playing on AC data with a KOC sucks
i'm still having fun tho
>>

i don't get how people can play kbm

not like "how do you play a keyboard", that's obvious, but reading the notes must be so hard

So this releases in a few days, are there going to be proxy services or something selling them?
>>
>>15543810
isn't that controller the one with no springs and a smooth turntable?

why would you even want it when you can get something better for the same amount of money?

unless you're collecting official konami stuff or something
>>
>>15543810
I'm sure you could just buy it and send it to a forward service for assloads of money.
>>
>>15543547
yeah you really wont progress very quickly if you're not playing nearly every day. Go at your own pace if you're having fun but it would be a good idea to spend more time playing if you really want to improve at a reasonable pace.
>>
>>15543635

Doubles KBM is a nightmare no matter who you are. Fucking have to juggle notes scrolling on two screens at once.

You're only hope really is memorizing the bass half and only focusing on treble.

If it were one giant monitor it might be more manageable.
>>
>>15542803
Stuck on 7 here too. But I have an excuse, I'm playing on keyboard with arcade layout.
>>
So the Green Number is the maximum number of notes that can appear in the lanes at once, right?

Based on what? 16ths? 24s? 32nds? Unless they count chords and scratches, I can't really imagine ~300 notes on the screen at once.

Also, If you have say a 290 WN and a 290 GN on every song, will it always appear the same regardless of BPM?

Finally, is the Groove Gauge based off of the song's note count? I feel like the fewer notes there are, the larger the hit to your gauge when you miss a note.
>>
>>15544100
because it works flawlessly on Infinitas, and is an official IIDX controller.
>>
>>15544443
>So the Green Number is the maximum number of notes that can appear in the lanes at once, right?
No, I think it's the number of frames a note will appear on screen times 10.

>Finally, is the Groove Gauge based off of the song's note count? I feel like the fewer notes there are, the larger the hit to your gauge when you miss a note.
Yes.
>>
>>15544443
>is the Groove Gauge based off of the song's note count

duh

more notes = more music = more grooving

it's basic math
>>
>>15544443
GN is the amount of milliseconds it takes for a note to reach the red zone from the top of the lane (this is why Sudden+ can lock the GN and still affect the scrolling speed of the notes).
>>
>>15544443
>So the Green Number is the maximum number of notes that can appear in the lanes at once, right?

>>15544614 is right. Milliseconds on screen.

>Also, If you have say a 290 WN and a 290 GN on every song, will it always appear the same regardless of BPM?

Yes, unless the song has BPM changes, obviously.

>Finally, is the Groove Gauge based off of the song's note count? I feel like the fewer notes there are, the larger the hit to your gauge when you miss a note.

You're almost right. The gauge always *drops* at the same rate no matter the note count, but it does recover slower at higher note counts. A 100 note beginner chart wouldn't have enough notes to get into the 80% passing range without having each note's % value bumped up. Similarly, a 2000 note chart would be much easier if 50 notes alone was enough to build your % up to 80%.

Jeez those 4 option buttons are close. Might as well made them the same size as the regular 7 buttons so you only have to rotate the controller to go between 1p and 2p.

Thoughts on the svse5 with Omrons?
Turbochargers seem out of my reach
>>
>>15545591
Should be just fine. Might want to consider getting Copals as well, though.
>>
>>15545591

It's what I use. Bought mine stock through the US warehouse and replaced the switches to Omrons myself.

Then later upgraded it to copals.

It's a mighty fine controller.

By the way, does anyone know if Sanwa makes those BT buttons?
>>

In a similar vein, has anyone tried the more expensive SDVX controller Dao offers? supposedly it has ac quality knobs. it looks incredible and I'm a sucker for aesthetics so I might buy that one.

Well, I knew it existed, just didn't know what it was called.

Thanks a lot, btw.
>>
>>15546223

Bullshit. Fucking how? There's no game out there that can prepare you for the knobbery.
>>
>>15546337

Daiuchuu stage, probably. I also cleared my first few 15s within a week, and that was my first (I cleared it before clearing a 14, even.)

Most of the 15s from Booth are tame when it comes to knobs. They didn't start going ham until later.
>>
>>15546409

>Daiuchuu stage

Wait, so you played this and then passed a 15 when you started SDVX?

That's literally the same shit. Just a KSM clone.
>>
>>15546337
Not the same anon, but knobs are more so reading than physical skill (except for fast shit like Hyena, BSB etc. of course). I first tried Fairy Dancing when I got my controller since I had a decent amount of practice with K-Shoot.

And as >>15546409 said, Daiuchuu should be very easy if you're a 2dx player.
>>
>>15546437

What? I mean like, the song Daiuchuu Stage. It's a 15 on EXH for some reason. It should probably be a 13 but Konami says it counts!!
>>
>>15546452

So when you say "within 5 days of playing" you mean "5 days of playing Daiuchuu Stage"?
>>
>>15546488

Is Daiuchuu Stage also the name of a simulator or something? I'm talking about "Sound Voltex III: Gravity Wars: The Hit Game From Konami You Can Also Illegally Play At Your House(tm)." Like, day 1 would be defined as the day my ASC arrived at my house, and then on day 2 I selected the song "Daiuchuu Stage" on the song select menu and failed it, and then selected it a second time and passed it, and then on day 5 I cleared Brain Power and I think also Rakugakist and maybe some other 15s? Anyways, the point is that you can definitely clear 15s within a week of starting, cuz some of them are easy. Playing IIDX for 11 years beforehand probably helps.
>>
>>15546527

Ummm, I guess I'm fucking retarded. I googled that name and the video I saw looks nothing like the SDVX I've played.

Also I don't really pay too much attention to the song titles. I just play the songs that don't sound awful.
>>
>>15546555
the sdvx interface has evolved massively since the first game
>>
>>15546246
You can buy a wiimote. If your pc has an integrated blutooth card, you can play with just that. Otherwise, you will have to get a blutooth card for your pc yourself in addition to the wiimote.
I don't know if adapters directly from tatacon to pc exist.
Another advantage of wiimote+blutooth: if your pc is good enough and you tweak the emulator Dolphin sufficiently, you can play the 5 taiko wii games on your pc.

Actually after reexamining the photos on his site with this mindset I think you might actually be right.

No. I always thought so too.

But after looking at it again it's not.

Left image here with the lines is what I always thought it was. But the image on the right clearly shows the side of the controller that faces you being a normal rectangle. Given this and the fact that the top down angle is NOT a rectangle proves that it's just a stupid fragile piece of acrylic that juts out for no reason.

I'm super disappointed by this and feel bad for anyone who bought this.

Stomp them into the ground. If you're better, what do they have to be upset about.

Rivals that are significantly worse than you but are still beating you on a handful of things are a good for identifying scores that you need to improve.

It's less meaningful if you're not very skilled and haven't filled out the song list yet. At that stage, chances are both you and your rivals are improving significantly, making things too volatile.
>>
>>15553265
That's literally the whole point, to keep playing to see who can keep being the one with the least losses.

Do I have to bind select to something specific for it to work? Or nothing at all for that matter?

All that did was tweak the TT sensitivity a little, give you HID lights, which is largely useless; all it does it flash the keys on song select, and give you the select button option now.

To turn it on you hold Start, Select and Key 7 for a second or two.

Now, if you have Select set to effect it works like this.
1 click = Effect
2 click = VEFX
3 clicks = Effect + VEFX (ragequit)

>>15560848
I really don't understand all the fuss about turntables. Mine is literally just a piece of acrylic with wax paper glued to the bottom and the controller so it spins freely, combined with a half-decent encoder hooked up to an arduino. The total cost for the whole set-up was around 30 bucks. If you wanted to make it super arcade accurate, spend an extra 2 dollars on a block of wood to elevate it and some textured tape for the top.

People are really only paying for aesthetics, and they're paying through the nose when you consider how cheaply you could build DAOs with a production factory. It blows my mind that people will get ripped off that hard for the sake of some flashing lights.
>>
>>15561325

>>
>>15561325

ok my fp7 was working fine up until an hour ago. I went to plug it in again and now it doesn't work. Windows either ignores it, thinks I'm plugging in and removing it multiple times, or recognises it as a PS3 controller... until I move the turntable at which point it unplugs itself again.

What the fuck is going on? When I leave it plugged in, the select light flickers every ten seconds or so, if that helps.

Whats the reasoning behind faster notes or covered lanes resulting in better timings?

Faster notes helping with timing should be obvious.

Lane cover helps certain people that like to be able to view the entire field of notes while still giving the feeling of having faster scrolling notes.

>>15562945

Download them individually, on Chrome it's not too bad
>>
>>15562145
>>15562204
Lunatic is baby shit. Play/watch Soflan-chan if you want to see real hell.
>>
>>15563382
But Soflan-chan is easy since you can keep the same hispeed the whole time and have no problems reading it as long as you remember how the song goes. The slower bits are generally easier so you don't need to change your speed to time it well.

Lunatic on the other hand you can't possibly get a good score on unless you change your hispeed midway, since the difference between the start and the end is so drastic. And changing your speed is a pain in SDVX since you can't reset it back to default like in IIDX, so you just have to hold start when you're already turning the knobs and pray you get it at the right number.
>>
>>15563400
Just start with a low hi-speed like 2,0-2,5. The slow stuff on Lunatic is miles easier. Also, as far as I know, it doesn't go lower than the initial value unlike Soflan's ridiculous 32BPM, so you don't really have to learn Lunatic unless you want to use regular hi-speed.
>>
>>15562923
Faster notes makes less notes appear on the screen at once, thus making you judge them better.
>>
>>15563236
How do you set a green number?
>>
>>15563465
Turn on Sudden+ in the options and then mess with VEFX and Effect + TT while holding Start before the song.
>>
>>15563465
Turn on Sudden+, hold start before a song starts, adjust your high speed. You'll see your green number on the bottom of your lane cover.
>>
>>15563481
Yeah, I know this, but does that count as 'set'?
As in, if I put it at 300 gn 300 sud+ and then halfway through the song a speed change happens, will it adjust when I hold start and spam tt?
>>
>>15563492
Yes.
>>
>>15563532

So there's a song with a slow down. I set my GN for its "regular speed" then when I hit the slow down, I quickly raise my hispeed.

Then when it speeds back up I hold start and spam TT to reset to my original GN?

What exactly is meant by "spam the TT"? Spin it? Rapidly scratch it? Cum on it?
>>
>>15562868

How long have you had it? Open it up and make sure everything is plugged in firmly, then see if all the solder points going to the PCB from the USB cable seem okay.
Failing that, I guess ask Dao himself if he can give you a replacement PCB, or just buy a new one.
>>
>>15563851
>What exactly is meant by "spam the TT"?

For touch screens... not too much.

Cytus is cool. VOEZ is alright.

IIDX is THE rhythm game however.

Jubeat and Reflec Beat. They're actually patrician games disguised as meme games.
>>
>>15571193

try tasting cyanide

on a more serious note, there aren't too many good rhythm games for phones, because touchscreen games are almost automatically meme games.

The recommended games to play are IIDX, DDR, and pop'n.

SDVX is somewhat meme-tier but still an excellent rhythm game.

Jubeat is a meme game but still kind of acceptable.
>>

literally anything that doesn't involve a touch screen.

If you're in a city in N. America you probably have a DDR machine nearby.

All stream and zero tech is not impressive when it's all ITG players have been doing for the past decade since Roxor got Konami'd. i do feel out of place sometimes because i play rhythm games quite casually

i'm ok at most of them (13 in sdvx, 14 in ddr, 9-10 in itg, 12 in museca, 60 in neon fm, 50s in cxb, 30 in pop'n, 16 in stepmania) but i don't focus very much on improving or try playing for score.

i just play because i like music and the gameplay itself is fun to me, and in any new game i improve comfortably and to a decent level until hitting a wall where i'd require a disproportionate amount of effort to go any further.

If you're talking about Insane BMS, 4th Dan is usually considered to be the equivalent of Kaiden in IIDX. I know of a couple of kaidens who were able to get Insane 4th in BMS and were able to get Kaiden within like a week or so of getting Insane 4th.

Help! I'm not used to rhythm games, I'm currently training on pop'n music. How do I progress?
I can currently deal with normal and some hard with 5 buttons but I can't go for the 7k ones and 9k is a far dream. Should I keep trying same music with 7/9 buttons easy/normal till I can prass it or go for 5k ex then 6 then 7?
>>
>>15578349
just find songs that you like the sound of and play those songs

you'll progress eventually!
>>
So what's in the insane BMS pack exactly?

I just have the genoside starter pack and a couple of the IIDX conversions from the terminal.

Also do genoside Dan courses correspond in difficulty to IIDX Dan courses? Because I'm already at 5 Dan, and I don't consider myself that great.
>>
>>15577684
I think I have almost every 11 in Lincle FC'd. Spada, on the other hand, has a bunch of 11s I struggle to FC.
>>
>>15577474
then download fucking LR2, it won't take you even 2 minutes to setup.
>>
>>15578349
play more. dont be afraid to fail, you'll be doing a lot of that even if you're good at the game.

as for practicing 9k, you have to actually play 9k. playing 5k or 7k wont prepare you very well because you need to get used to reading charts as if they could fall down any of the 9 lanes
>>
>>15578766

Well that's super fantastic.

Meanwhile I've never full combo'd a single thing on IIDX ever and I'm not gonna fishing for them by playing 7s or 8s. Best combo I've had is I believe high 800 something, and I just got that earlier today.

Clearing comes first, scoring comes later.

Do you have 蛇神 FC'd by any chance? It's rated a 12.0 on Statistik.
>>
>>15578890
Just saying. I found Spada's 11s to be harder.
