So, is this just late game advice, or does it apply to all times?

I found my +15 charisma pretty handy. Allowing me to get 3 more escort quests, or pets.
>>
>>15533515
It's comparative. Clearly 15 bonus charisma is more useful than a lot of other modifiers when you only have 5 charisma to start with. That's a 300% multiplier. But when you already have 150 charisma, it's only a 10% multiplier.

A great artifact is the Ring of the Steel Dragon - same deal, but in reverse. The -speed modifier really, really hurts in the early game when you only have 100 speed, but when you have 800 speed, it's no big deal.

Resists are always useful - you can't really "max out" on them, much like PV, so the more the better. But the most difficult modifiers to find on items are generally damage modifiers like invokes/interlocking shooting mechanism/extra attacks, and so those usually take precedence. It helps that many unique artifacts already have these rare modifiers, so you don't have to spend 500 hours looking for an item that offers interlocking shooting mechanism.
>>
>>15533515
Not him but yeah, it's for later on.
The bonus to skills and attributes is too low to be of much use. You'll rarely get more than a +20, and more often than not it'll be on the +10 range.
When your skill are over a hundred, that +10 doesn't mean as much compared to when you had 8 points in it. Plus, you can just focus on that particular skill and gain those +10 the hard way if you need them, with the added bonus of training atts as well, and probably some more related skills.
Meanwhile, you can only get resistances up by eating some corpses and via spells.
Considering that corpse-gained res is capped at a couple #, res from gear is far more useful.

Went around Lost Irva bullying all the demigods. Confronted them, brought out the list I wrote, Are you so and so? Why yes, welcome to...*Kai hops over altar/desk/platform/etc*

Used attribute, clear mind, and rampage when they did something similar to make the exchange as violent as possible. Beat them all by punching them to death.

Now to train up more to fight the gods.

According to a wiki user, quality doesn't make a noticeable difference. As for the food processor, massacre or teleport town NPCs away from one and steal it. I haven't seen any goods/general merchants selling one without needing to invest first.

Oh, I guess I have to go incognito to get into the thieves guild then. I'm really tempted to dump my bonus points into performer just because it's so slow to level up manually.

I've yet to pass a Party Time! quest, I can only get around 40 points, if I'm lucky and find a beggar-only area. Instead I check the named NPCs for miracle gear, then kill them for no karma loss and steal it.
>>
>>15534075
On my 1.46 save my guy with 31 performer and a dawn clothwork harp can get 150+ pretty easily. The basics is just to perform for the regular folks. IIRC hobos don't give too much points and the nobles + uniques are too picky for my skill level. Perform for a group twice. Maybe three if you are confident you can grab their likes.

Perform for regular people twice, find new group, perform twice. Make sure you get as many people in your view as possible.
>>
>>15534133
Actually I'm hitting 100+ on my 13 performer using a record on my 1.59 save. Maybe it's a matter of speed? Since my 1.46 save had 170 ish speed can do four times while my 1.59 has 100 but can only perform three times.

What does CHA even do for you once you hit the pet cap at 65?
>>
I'm planning a low-cha character because I've never used Loner before and what to see how much the 20% matters.

So far, my list of things to not do is:
Never get the CHA skills.
Never use CHA spacts.
Never eat: Alraunia, Stomafillia, Curaria, fruit, corpses, eggs, herbed food.
Never engage in prostitution.
Never use a training machine.
Never cast a CHA spell.
Never eat +CHA gear, though maintains CHA gear should be fine.
Never drink from a well.

Am I missing anything that would cause CHA gain?

I'm not understanding this. Are you talking about the kokou feat? You don't need low charisma to use it. Also there are problems with having a very low charisma. For instance, at 7 charisma or lower you'll have a hard time keeping NPC relations with you at 50. In fact, it will be very easy for you to drop to annoying or worse. Drop too far and NPCs become hostile.

Mainly paging Kai here, but I could use other's advice too.

I'm planning on using a character for the long haul, who mainly uses magic with martial arts as a back-up when spells aren't an option, such as being silenced, out of MP, magic resistant enemies, etc. The main reason for MA is so I can have claws/tonfas in the hand slot without suffering a dual wield penalty to casting, that and the idea of MA sounds cool as hell.

But I've been having doubts about this plan. The past few threads have made MA to be a true commitment; either dedicate yourself to it, or it'll suck, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea. What good is back-up damage that does no damage. But at the same time, I don't know what else to do. Dual wielding to fill the hand slots causes the 6% penalty chance, and using two-handed means I waste a hand slot, and I'm confident that claws and tonfas interfere with two hands.

Is a Casting/MA hybrid that focuses more on casting a good idea, or will MA fail me and I should pick up some actual weapons?

49 Tactics and 43 MA.
Unarmed 2d11+45 x4.6 hit 149%

The only key piece of equipment for that is just the Shield Tonfa which you can get really early by just doing the small medals in town. The rest is just subpar weapon equipment. I've been spending too much of my money on estate and other projects to get my claws/tonfa past +5.

I think what's really strong is the Attribute and BakuretuKen. Which you get at 40 and 30 MA respectively. BakuretuKen is the second chat log 3x3 explosion for 15 stamina, you just need to hit your initial target. Attribute is an amazing skill that adds extra elemental to your hits. Right now it's doing lackluster damage since it is fire but once I switch over to magic the damage is nearly unresisted and will do about as much as extra punch.

Honestly the only problem I see is that MA needs exp to actually do damage. However you are putting your combat exp majority into spells instead. Once you get to 30 for the BakuretuKen you'll be golden though. 500 damage nuke (on top of normal punch damage) for stamina which you don't use. Pretty nice back up damage. Don't forget to get Control magic or your pet will explode.

>>15535141
Well I'm having no trouble with the MA/Mage hybrid. I just tore through the demigods >>15533713. I'm about 100 hours ahead of where my previous character was in comparing what I achieved back then compared to this guy. I credit my success to just knowing more about the game now than what I did back then.

The truth of MA is that it's a skill for people that are fine with working a bit harder and being weaker than their peers at the beginning of the game for a much better payout later.

At the beginning of the game weapons do more damage than your fists and weapon users get to enjoy being able to swap out weapons for weapons that have better dice and nice effects. Their weapon skill also has a better damage multiplier than MA. I think MA is half that of a weapon skill. Hard not to feel envious but if you have the tenacity to just forge ahead you'll see that the scale starts to tip in MAs favor. I started to feel this around skill level 300 personally. As MA increases the damage dice increases and eventually your fists will actually have more dice than most weapons in the game. While the MA multiplier is lower than a weapon users, special actions such as attribute closes the gap a bit and as MA and Tactics build you begin to overtake weapon users.

This lead is further enhanced when you reach the point where you don't even need tonfas anymore and just use your bare fists to get up to eight attacks. For me anyhow, the writing is on the wall. MA is going to beat out the other weapon skills. I'm already stronger than both my previous pets who were much higher in skill level than me in both two hand and dual wielding. Both of them had 2000 strength and 1000 in their respective skills. I don't have that and I'm beating them in damage. My dual wielding pet also can only seem to get four attacks(she only has two hands though) while I can get up to eight.

Also, I've had damage in the 100k. My previous character needed a magic storm spell in the lv 1000 range to reach those numbers. The very fact that my fists are currently doing more damage than my meteors on my current character makes me feel odd and I'm not exactly a slouch in the magic department with my current character either.

At any rate though, a lot of people think 300 martial arts is a lot. To me that number is actually on the small side. If you really are going to succeed you need to start seeing 300 as just a stepping stone instead of some final goal. If you really don't want to put in the work then it really is a good idea to go with weapons instead. It's a whole lot easier and it's not like they're weak or anything. They can easily clear the game and my pet which is a two hand wielder actually killed the god Itzpalt all by herself. Or you can just go pure wizard. Spell damage is a proven winner. You'll have to deal with some headaches from some encounter situations since you don't have the flexibility of a hybrid but you can definitely make it work. Then there's the magic device users too. They do awesome damage as well.

Now if you do plan to go hybrid you really do need to devote work to both aspects of your character to really take advantage of the reason you rolled one in the first place: flexibility. I personally used all my AP and bonus points from levels all on MA. I didn't spend any points anywhere else. The kicker though is that my casting skills are for the most part, vastly ahead of my MA skill which saddens me because I feel like I'm working harder to level MA. However, I do more damage currently with my MA than I do with my spells do to the spell changes that have been introduced. I'm currently trying to get my spells to be on par with my MA but it's rough currently.

You can attend magic school to about lv 100 in your spells but after that the platinum sink for just raising your spell levels become pretty bad. On the bright side, you can train your ball spells without having to even attack enemies but then you have to worry about restoring spell potential.

Anyhow, the point I'm trying to allude to here is that you may get this whole the grass is greener on the other side feel but in all honesty you'll have trouble regardless of what you pursue if you're not willing to grind.

On a side note, what are you guys using for fonts? I'm using Calibri at the moment because I was having problems with the default font scrunching numbers and having text collide with my numbers making things unreadable. If there's a better font that solves the problem I was having I'm all ears.

>>15535372
I'm in the process of choosing a pet right now in fact. Up to this point I've soloed the game but I could use the extra help now that the void is getting scary. I originally had plans to run with a littler girl with MA role playing her as my student but I hear that littler girl is the route to a magic user which is not what I want for that pet. So I'm back to the drawing board. I still want a MA pet as my first pet. I just don't know what pet at the moment I'm going to go with. I also want to get sprites and stuff for it too.

>I still want a MA pet as my first pet.
Depends, are you willing to use Custom AI or the default one? For an all-around damage dealer, I recommend Red Eyes White Rabbit for the Time Stop, which is able to achieve around 24 hits in one "turn" with MA.

One of my mentors, Chibike (>>15536851), used 2 metalslug Martial Artists as her protectors, for the cArmor bit flag and built in Emergency Evasion. As far as I'm aware, the Armor bit flags were nerfed in the recent updates of E+ to only affect physical damage, so it goes without saying to artifact fusion some resistance equipment to keep them alive.

The grizzly evolution path looks promising. If you choose to go down the God Heart > Another Heart path, the end result would have the cTemper bit and normal resistance in Cold and Magic.

Still, the littler girl > witch evolution doesn't sound like a bad plan. Ignoring the fact that it's catered as a magic caster, you can still use Leold/Custom AI to use melee routines. You've said in the past that insanity in the void was becoming a problem, so Rain of Sanity is still nice to have when you're punching Cthulhu in the face. Could probably roleplay a magic user abandoning all of her beliefs in the occult and Itzpalt to become the greatest Martial Artist in Nefia. Your little girl spent all that time looking around North Tyris for you, after all.

Regardless of your choice, you should actively hunt down the remaining artifacts with the extra melee attack attribute (five horned helm and twin edge). Otherwise, your best bet is miracle and godly artifacts with the attribute. Now that you have the Mighty Arms, shoes and back equipment are the only sources of proximity assist weapon attribute, so this will take the longest, depending on how much Ehekatl likes you.

Speaking of gods, I see that you're running with Jure instead of Opatos. This is for the Will boost (for Eye of Mind/crits) and Prayer of Jure special action, correct? Just wondering: how much Piety do you have with her at the moment? Faith skill?
>>
>>15536877
Adding on to evolutions: If everything I've said doesn't suit your fancy, try the minotaur boxer path. Decent initial MA and obvious roleplay value. End result is an Aldebaran with cTemper and Boost special action. I put this one off because its somewhat high INI for a low level may be a problem, but hopefully you can overcome it.
>>
>>15535324
So, what I'm getting from this is it doesn't matter what I pick as my melee style, it'll be grindin' all the way anyway. Besides, I got some pets for early game backup anyway, so I'm not relying on just myself. May as well stick to the fist then.

>>15536131
True, but the problem I see with this is not training 2hand, dual wield or shield. This may mean absolutely nothing to worry about, but it bothers me for some reason.

>>15536445
What exactly do you mean by "making gear selection harder"? If you mean that you can't equip weapons that provide bonuses, I could always use the throwing slot to stick a useful weapon in, if only for bonuses. Tonfas seem decent enough weapons anyway, and I could always use artifact fusion for resist stacking.

That reminds me, do Living Claws exist? Or can only weapons with damage die be living?

>>15536877

It's technically called Red-eyes w.rabbit, I think Ano just ran out of space for the name. Or copyright issues, I dunno. Yes, it has Time Stop as a special action, meaning that it doesn't need weapons that invoke Time Stop. Luckily it's only two turns, but a MA Red-eyes White Rabbit can theoretically
dish out 24 hits in one turn if it has a high enough extra melee attack attribute and can invoke Time Stop. I might do some testing in Elona+ Custom AI to see if the Time Stop requires anything else (100% gauge, etc.) and then abuse it until Ano patches it.

Link shows the evolution: Regular rabbit (regardless of gender?) at "Fellow" relationship level and a Magic Heart will yield a Red-eyes w.rabbit.

Ah. I thought was a new monster, not an evolution. Assuming its the 200 cost one mentioned on the wiki, it seems a bit costly to constantly spam. Strange. I've gotten a hold of a Red-eyes w.rabbit but it doesn't have the aforementioned ability in its ability list. This narrows it down to simply its gauge release attack, as stated on the wiki. In short, it is not overpowered in the least bit, as you would probably need to raise it to 100% gauge before you can utilize its usefulness. Oh well.

Personally, I prefer bitflags and unique special actions over common special actions (Boost, cheer) and invokes. Looks like I'm just going to let this guy back into the wild.

In the past I said I would use an Elea as a pet so I decided to go forward with that and make it my Martial Artist pet/student. Instead of going with the Dark Elea already in the game as a wizard, I went with a warrior Elea. Both Dark Elea and Elea belong to the same Elea race so no foul there. All I did was edit a sprite which I'm still working on. Got this particular Elea warrior off the slave seller in Derphy. Chose the 5 or less than option and rolled until I got one. Roleplaying already built in I guess for buying an Elea's freedom in exchange for becoming my student.

I haven't figured out what to do with the little girl yet. I might just make her a Valkyrie again however this time I'll see about making a living spear for her and see how powerful I can make it.

I'll definitely take up your suggestion on hunting down those artifacts and keeping my eyes open for good arties.

As for the gods, I'm actually still in the process of going through all of them to get all the god rewards but now that you mention it, you do bring up a good point. Jure does have some nice perks for a Martial Artist. Thanks for bringing this to my attention since I actually wasn't paying too much attention to her bonuses. I guess I have a tough decision once I'm done getting all the god rewards on which god to settle down with. Either Itzpalt or Jure. Faith is at 285 and Piety is at 1,822/30,500. I just got her first reward which I think was the defender. Working on the second currently.

17I and 17L go in the same folder, or are they variations to pick from?
>>
>>15540557
For a Martial Artist, Jure would definitely be my first pick. At 30,500 Piety you would get 102 Will, 122 Healing, 76 Meditation, 76 Magic Device, and 76 Magic Capacity. Utility skills as well, but those aren't important. Prayer of Jure also works as a high level Holy Light/Vanquish Hex, so you can get rid of Mist of Silence and heal on the same turn. I would like Itzpalt due to Harvest Mana and his boost to Magic to further increase Attribute's damage, but as you have seen in the past, critical hits in MA increase the damage of both the regular hit as well as the Attribute damage, so it's a bit as redundant as worshipping Opatos to boost the damage of regular hits. According to Miyana in the Eye of Mind wiki page, MA has an extremely low critical hit multiplier of 1.1, so the formula may have stayed unless it has changed in the MA buff update in E+. Thus, it's important to maximize critical hit chance whenever possible, which in turn maximizes damage.

As a side note, pierce for MA caps at 50%, though the actual formula is unknown. I may do some Wizard mode testing/EloSnack to find out rough estimates. I also want to test if the formula for MA damage has changed significantly.

>Prayer of Jure also works as a high level Holy Light/Vanquish Hex
I did not know this. That's amazing! Here I've always been using it as a heal spell. Can't wait to try this out when I get silenced next. Thanks for the heads up on this. You make a compelling argument for settling down with Jure. I'm now even more conflicted with my decision between Itzpalt and Jure. If I went with Itzpalt it would mainly be for the restoration of MP and to help the magic side of my character. However, Jure would definitely help out the MA part of my character and that prayer of hers is hard to give up now. Well I still have some time to make up my mind since I still need to collect all the god rewards.

On a side note, is there anyway to change the god your pet worships? I noticed my pet worships Lulwy and from a roleplaying perspective Kai isn't particularly fond of her. Mechanically I could care less what my pet worships so if there isn't a way I won't be bummed but I was just curious. At least, I don't think god worship for a pet has any particular benefit or con? At any rate, I tried preaching the good works of Jure but my pet didn't seem to take. Everyone else around me in town was so moved by my speech that they converted though.

>What exactly do you mean by "making gear selection harder"?

If you stay out of the melee combat game altogether, then there are only four things to worry about: resistances, immunities, casting bonus, PV. These are all fairly easy to get, especially after artifact fusion. Protip: magic res also gives roughly 50% the resistance towards all other elements.

If you make a martial arts guy you'll need all of the above, and also do whatever you can to maximize your melee damage, e.g. melee assist and extra attack. Having an extra set of things to optimize for means you'll have to make compromises in your gear. You'll have to give up your hand slots, for one.
>>
>>15542726
It doesn't feel harder for my character Kai. The experience formulas for the weapon skills also suggests it shouldn't be different:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p3S16qPZFSdZdQoVF8hjsZf7ovS6H-cpjmSaH2qZn6I/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0

Not sure if this spreadsheet is in the pastebin but it seemed liked it in a prior thread so maybe it will make it in there someday.

More potential is always a good thing since the experience you earn for the skill will go farther. Keeping it at 400 is ideal but keep it as high as possible without losing your sanity. What you should conclude from the formulas in the spreadsheet is that the best way to level MA is through hunting down harder and harder creatures.

If you don't, your progress in leveling MA may slow down or even stop all together if the enemies aren't hard enough. The void is a great place to level MA as things are naturally hard in there and it can take multiple punches to bring things down. A good thing because the more punches the more experience you bring in. Level up bonus points and AP should also be going into leveling MA. Strength attribute helps build damage multiplier and so does the tactics skill. I'm just grinding out tactics while putting all my points in MA for now.

>Not sure if this spreadsheet is in the pastebin but it seemed liked it in a prior thread so maybe it will make it in there someday.

It's in there, under the Mods pastebin. It's all the way at the bottom in Loose Mods and Links. I honestly do not know where to put this, so it's sort of lying at the bottom of the pastebin collecting dust. Any suggestions on where to put it? (no pun intended)
>>
>>15542789
Well you do count as having nothing in your hand slots as far as spell casting chance is concerned. So you can equip tonfas/claws and not have to worry about reduced casting. Tonfas and claws can help with giving you damage bonuses, hit bonuses, and perhaps resists and other special equipment attributes. However, to get the max amount of hits as a Martial Artist, 8 hits, you probably have to leave your hand slots completely open. No tonfas, No claws, nothing. If you do equip tonfas and claws the max amount of hits I seem to have gotten with them is 4. Keep in mind though that to unlock your multi hits you will need gear with the attribute that says it increases chance of extra attacks. Thanks again to the anon that came forward with that information.

Aside from the gear requirement for multi hits you might need a certain amount of MA? I'm not sure about this but I've managed to get all 8 hits while having nothing in my hand slots, the right gear, and 700 or so MA. At any rate, tonfas and claws might be good for new Martial Art characters for the features and bonuses it brings but eventually you'll want to transition away from them once you've unlocked multi hits and have enough MA/Tactics that you won't miss them.
>>
>>15542805

>>15543265
It's a lot of fun and I definitely recommend it. It's a pretty different playstyle than I'm used to.
I don't think it's possible for pets since the game partially treats the minions as pets (I learned this the hard way when I tried to capture a little sister with 15 Dead Eyes out, several times), plus the pet would actually have to know to use the coffin. I don't think Necromancers should use any pets either. Your minions aren't treated entirely like pets and for a lot of things are more like an extension of the player. Their kills still give you Anatomy experience and AP for example. For each pet you have out that's an undead you don't as well, meaning you're getting less value for each level of Anatomy/Alchemy.
>>
>>15543325
That's pretty cool that the pets act as an extension of your character. I'm always looking for ways to make my trek in the void easier. Currently I'm going to start training up some pets to help me out however a weakness of pets is that if they should keep on dying on the same floor, you can't resurrect them. Think you only get one rez per floor. In case of pet party wipe it would be nice to flood the floor with undead minions to either buy me time for an escape or to obliterate what my pets couldn't.
>>
>>15543397
If travelling and normal play is getting your Alchemy/Anatomy levels up then there isn't much reason not to carry a DD Cemetery Key full of Dead Eyes I guess. Worst comes to worse you could just self destruct them as a nice delay.
I'll probably start up on the guide pretty soon. I just want to get them a little stronger and myself a little faster so I can get more of a feel for the weird jumps in power Necromancy has vs the ones dungeon difficulty has.

Is there any reliable way to get herb seeds? I never get them from Harvest Time.
>>
>>15543870
You want the Kumiromi Statue. Then you want to get copies of it by doing the repeatable little sister quest. Every five days it gives you a chance to get an herb seed. Not guaranteed but it gives you the best probability of getting the seeds. More statues = more chances to score more seeds.
>>
>>15543696
When you level living weapons you get some control over what you want the weapon. There is still some RNG involved though. For instance, if you want resists, you can choose to have it get resists but it's a bit random what exact resist you end up with. You'll want to use artifact fusion before you go to level the living weapon.

Dungeon level is mostly based off the latest dungeons you've completed. I'm at level 600ish levels and when I speed through the odd level 20 that pops up the next batch has a lot of level 150-300 dungeons.

Nevermind I'm getting procs. Just used sandbag. Gettting 5-10 procs every 100 hits. Proc rate didn't change whether I had tonfa+claw or empty+empty. I do have low MA skill of 57 though. I was able to see 1 double proc when I was doing empty handed MA though out of the 600~ hits I've done. Does multiple instances of #Extra Melee Attack stack? I was just using Drake Rod. Twin Edge hasn't dropped for me yet. Also does warrior's 5% extra attack feat stack?
>>
>>15546646
They do stack. The warrior feat should also stack on top of that.
>>
>>15546667
That's great. Something to look forward to until my Asura farm finally gives me my twin edge. Is the warrior 5% extra attack stronger than the predator's 10% crit chance?
>>
>>15546673
Both have their merits but lead to same result of more damage. A predator's crit chance will help out when they put attribute on and attack. The attribute kind of echoes the initial attack so initial crit damage will lead to a high damaging attribute attack. The warrior's additional attack is straight forward in how more attacks equates to more damage. Guess it would boil down to personal preference. If you like to run with attribute a lot go with predator if not go with warrior. How many extra attacks did you get at MA 57? One extra or more?
>>
>>15546693
Only one extra normally but I was a predator. I only got 1 instance where I procced twice in an attack whle wielding nothing in hand slots.

So how exactly do I go about getting started with a herb farm? Do I need astronomically high gardening skill so they grow a new bud when I pick them?
>>
>>15547646
That helps with saving time and money, but its not too hard to get new seeds. You do want a good gardening skill anyway just to make sure you actually get anything out of them in the first place.

Do Harvest Time quests and you'll train your gardening in the quest, as well as get new random seeds to plant and train your gardening that way.
>>
>>15547652
I have about 20 herb seeds and 45 Gardening. Too low to bother?
>>
>>15547691
I'd say take the plunge. Maximum chance for regrowth and lowest wither chance is at 41 Gardening, provided you use a field tile at your farm. As always, plant during heavy rain/normal rain for a better chance.
>>
>>15547691
Not him but you should read the gardening section of the wiki especially the technical section.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Gardening

I sincerely hope you don't think 100-200 in skills is astronomical because if you do you might be better off playing something else easier.

For herb farming the problem is reaching a state where you can replace your inevitable losses. You will lose plants to either wilting or failing a replant. You need a way to get enough seeds to sustain whatever level of yield you require for your character. Suggestions were already made for how that's done earlier in the thread. So the issue isn't so much getting the right level of gardening but being able to get a reasonable supply of herb seeds.

Truce ground skillbook.png

Hey guys, is this normal? I'm reading a skillbook in the truce ground, and time isn't advancing as normal (the weather's bad outside, you have plenty of time to waste), yet I'm receiving the same EXP reading it normally. However, I do still end up getting hungry, so this is subject to exploit i.e a substitute for the Hungry Demon method of the blessed curaria herb-in diet. Potentially, this could lead to quick training of difficult skills to level such as weight lifting, magic capacity, armor skills, etc. Does anyone care to verify this on their game or in later versions? I'm still playing on E+ Custom 1.58.2.
>>
>>15547942
It's snowing. You can do the same in any dungeon, the tunnel is a popular choice because you can Return to it and it doesn't reset. You can even leave all your books down there in a little room you create wall'd around the staircase and read as much as you like.
>>
>>15547949
Huh, never knew that static locations counted as dungeons for skillbooks too. Thanks.
>>
What do you guys use for food? Do you keep multiple fridges on you to carry it? Do you let your little sister starve? You monster.

Lost 500k right as I was about to get my palace because I forgot about food in overworld.
>>
>>15548001
I always carry a few cratese of cargo food for that very reason. Otherwise it's just whatever corpses pop up.
>>
>>15548001
I collect api nuts and chestnuts because they make great emergency food (and also because I like seeing how many I can collect) but I never have to eat them because other food is so plentiful. I can't imagine running out of food, just drop into an overworld tile and you're pretty much guaranteed either a nut/leaf or an edible corpse.
>>
>>15548016
Wow I didn't even know those things are eaten automatically. Yeah, I gotta stock on those. Extra bonus for rogue boss bait.

>>15548030
Yeah, but I got lazy and didn't check my hunger status as I ran in the overworld. Led to me starving to death. Also I dunno, having multiple pets drains your food supply scarily fast. I should invest more in anatomy.

Got to level 500 or so summon spirit and still no level up trick with killing them all. On the bright side I'm halfway to being able to farm music tickets with them which I'll put forward to farming hero cheese and magic fruit.

For level up bursts I've been just using scrolls of wonder and farming wish stock from it. Takes awhile to build up but I usually wait till 18,000 wish stock and bulk wish in one go. Better to do in bulk as you can drive down the potential to like 5% fast and it will become hard to level the spell which is good for wish. Think I'm at like lv 80 or so with wish and have success chance of 92% still. Probably can thank my casting skill for that. 18,000 wish stock gets you about 200 or so wishes. Used my last burst for 200 descent potions which I blessed and consumed. Had around 1000 or so bonus skill points to spend which I put all in MA.

Very close to 1000 MA and then I'll start bonus point dumping tactics to drive that damage multiplier up. Despite all my point dumping and grinding my casting skill is beating my MA skill. I've been spamming oracle to raise my casting skill. I get so much stock for oracle from a shop level 500 book reserver and wonder scrolls. I spam oracle even if the potential for the spell goes down to nill. Just have to keep casting potential up. That grind has lead my magic attribute to pull very far ahead of my other attributes. Reading the oracle spell books also helps with the memorization skill and learning attribute.

Been saving up my platinum coins. I hope the next patch will breath new life into the magic schools because at the moment I think I heard the exp you get for spells is capped at 3000. Schools are great for gaining magic attribute but leveling any spell beyond lv 100 with schools becomes very hard. I have an easier time just sleeping to restore spell potential and training the spells myself. Think I heard that Ano is thinking about reducing the cost of schools down to max 10 plat and the 3000 exp is removed. In its place will be some formula that utilizes the learning attribute. Depending on how that formula ends up, if it's even used considering he's still thinking things over, maybe the school will see more use from me beyond getting spells to lv 100 in bulk.

Beginning of the game I just relied on the inn to kept me fed and if I went into a dungeon I'd buy bakery goods. Typically the breads as they don't spoil. After I had learned the 4d pocket spell and collected enough ancient books to join the mages guild I used the 4d pocket as my refrigerator. I would throw the meats I found into the 4d pocket and would later go to the baker in town and use the stove in his shop to cook all the meats I found. Would then store said cooked food into the 4d pocket. Trained my gardening on fruit and vegetable farms and the produce was good for food or fast gold. Eventually moved onto herbs and have been eating them ever since. They don't spoil so no worries there.
>>
>>15548392

How good is gardening for profit? I'm currently in the what I dub "Greece Phase", where I need more money for investing but I'm not earning enough to really take off.

I'd actually be flattered if someone thought I was cheating considering it shows me how far I've come in getting good at this game. If I wanted a power trip though I'd just play my previous character that has 800 hours racked up. He's far stronger than my current character that I posted.

>>15549374
I've found the hard part of Inferno just to be the beginning that sets the pacing of having to be patient and careful. However, due to the fact that a lot of my power comes from what I do outside of dungeons.(farming scrolls, farming herbs, spamming spells) by the time I do get to dungeons I'm prepared for what might come. I also don't do particularly challenging dungeons compared to my character because I see them only as places to get gold medals and materials from resource spots. Both which don't care about dungeon level. Gold is taken care of through activities outside of dungeons which I hinted at through my farms and job board requests because you're still getting fame from the dungeons to boost job board requests. Eventually you get so strong that even lv 300 dungeons, around where gold caps for dungeons, are easy and you farm them for gold. All of this has lead to a successful inferno run so far as I don't really put my life in jeopardy. I gain my levels and skills in the void and that's easy to manipulate the difficulty of that place just by going up and down stairs.

>>15549557
Blessed growth scrolls. Instead of buying Hermes potions I've been buying that instead. Dumped AP into speed to get to 500(not 800 actually) then kokou, herbs, and the random speed uppers have taken care of the rest so far. All the rest of my AP has went to bonus skill points. The platinum I make from dungeons also help. Dungeons bosses usually give me 5 platinum. Currently doing around lv 300 dungeons seeing as I don't have a reason yet to do any higher. I'm not farming nefia cores at the moment. Job board quests, particularly challenge quests, can give me 10 platinum. So yeah, it's not too hard to keep potentials up if you're determined. When I'm farming for plat I just make this crazy bee line going from dungeons to towns and their job boards collecting platinum. Once I'm done with North Tyris I move onto South Tyris and do the same thing. If I need to, I can use the statue of Opatos to get new dungeons or enough time will pass that I get new dungeons anyways. While in town I farm my scrolls and anything I need. Good for traveling skill too.

>10 plat from quest boards

What's your fame? You always seem to have a never ending supply of small medals and I don't understand how. You and I tend to play very differently with dungeons but even spamming lower level ones I never understood how you got so many. It's pretty impressive.

Are herbed herbs obsolete now that they give 20x more potential when eaten raw?
>>
>>15550461
Not at all. You have to think that that much potential still effectively translates into a flat experience number since it lowers each level up. Besides, most people have 400%ish at all times when they are constantly eating herbed herbs. It's still a very nice change though.

242,239 fame. Challenge job board quests tend to give the most plat followed by Panic. Panic was a decent source of exp for bit but not so much anymore. Still decent plat and relatively easy. I can complete challenge and panic quests in seconds due to dimensional fishing. No having to hunt down monsters anymore. I just drag them to me and kill them.

Don't think fame has any influence on gold medal farming from dungeons. I just do dungeons quick. I can get anywhere from 1 to four gold medals from dungeon bosses if you include the gold medal chance from boss chest. Then you also have silver bells in the dungeon too.

Statue of Opatos and speeding up time(riding snail, shelter+snow, etc) refreshes dungeons for me. If I need to farm medals in bulk it's not uncommon for me to spend a couple of hours just speed running dungeons and doing nothing else. Some people might get bored but I'm fine with it. When I play I usually have a goal I'll do for a couple of hours. Lately, my goal for Kai has just been farming wonder scrolls.

>>15549331
Sorry, I accidentally missed your post. Anyhow. Magic vendors restock about every 3-4 days. I have invested magic vendors in my house, in all of North Tyris, and all of South Tyris. I have 8 invested vendors in my own house so I can get a decent amount before even leaving my house. I travel to every vendor and see if I can purchase wonder scrolls. I'll speed up time through shelter+snow or just hopping on my slow pet to pass days, for vendor restock, and make multiple rounds of farming scrolls. There are days where I'll do nothing in the game except farm wonder scrolls which I've done recently.

I'm kinda under the impression that the reason why my character is so powerful is because I have a high tolerance for tedium compared to some of you. Then again, I'm good at multitasking Elona with doing something else and I keep entertained by having a documentary playing in the background or various music playlists and podcasts.
>>
>>15550735
Recommend me podcasts. All I listen to is Sleepycast and I want more.
>>
>>15550813
I'm not exactly sure you'd be interested in the type of podcasts I listen to. Mine tend to be technology and educational related. Like recently my friend has been trying to get me to upgrade to Windows 10 but I was like, nah I hear very bad things about Windows 10 from business owner lawsuits due to computers bricking and spying. So to set the record straight I listened to one podcast to get one perspective about the pros and cons of Windows 10. Podcast was hosted by Steve Gibson and Laporte. Probably going to search for another perspective later.

Documentaries I listen to are similar but I've been listening to a lot of documentaries on youtube concerning money and politics. I've been listening to a lot of standup comedy on youtube recently now that I think about it. A lot of Bill Burr's stuff including his podcast which I tend to follow.

Been feeding my pet currarias and some herbed in currarias when I can spare them. Hopped on my snail while passed time to have her chow down the stacks quickly. Hope to gene engineer her some levels and skills later so she can start doing the void. Don't know if she'll get to lv 35 through gene engineering but I'll hope since that's around the time I entered the void. AP accumulation for my character has looked like this and since my pet shares similar INI values I hope she'll have the same progress:

1) Floors 1-10 first 2000 AP
2) 10-35 second 2000 AP
3) 35-54
4) 54-87
5) 87-122
6) 122-162
7) 162-198
8) 198-206
9) 206
10) 206
11) 206
12) 206
13) 206-232
14) 232
15) 232-247
16) 247
17) 247
18) 247-276
19) 276
20) 276
21) 276
22) 276
23) 276
24) 276-304

Seems like floors around 206 and 276 were incredible AP spots. Anyone doing the void have floors which they thought were incredible? What do people think of the new patch? Evochat is an interesting step towards a lewd VN like that one anon awhile back suggested. I just took a random picture of my pet I had laying around to test it. Picture obviously needs cleaning up. The informer seems to ask for your birthday for some reason. The change to plat requirements for the magic school is nice and the new formula for spell experience is better than what we had before but it's not too amazing. Took about 200 platinum to drain my "warlock spells" from 400 potential to 170. The more interesting change imo is the ability to spend bonus skill points on spells. That's going to be great for me once I'm done with MA and Tactics. So spells now have three ways of training them.

Just a heads up, v1.60fix sets your Effect Speed to 0 by default, which eliminates both the animation and sounds. You won't find growths at vendors; rank 100 should be fine for potentials, but they are still going to be rare. Consider crafting them when you're able, of course along with using other sources of potential (pet breakfast, sleeping).

50 is enough for potions of potential but they are quite rare

If your resistances are decent, start going down lesimas and do the 3 main quest dungeons for static artifacts. Then get the god rewards.

You want herb farms for your attributes (+ magic vendors for potential). For the herb seed you want many kumiromi gems / kumiromi statues (big daddies hunting) + doing farming board quests.

Train buff spells even if you are a warrior. (Feather / Holy Shield / Resistance / Hero / Speed)

If you lack gold: fruit&veggies farms (+cooking) // higher lvl dungeons // cargo trading (with the house trick)
There are plenty of other ways to get gold but those are the easiest to set up i feel

Keep equipment with ## or above to certain skills (cooking, tailoring, carpentry, investing, faith, etc)

Keep skill points for performer 30, this skill is a bitch to train and you want it for easy platinum.

To train skill there is no real secret keep the potential to not shit level and use the skill. Most important skills are the combat ones because you can just wear +skill equipment for the non-combat skills (exception with tailoring/carpentry which scale with higher levels)

Shadow step gives around 1/2 EXP of a normal attack and trains Will for about the same amount, I think. Swarm gives less EXP than a normal attack but the more targets you hit, the more EXP you receive. Also, trains Strength upon use.

Ran some experiments with my wonder scroll farming on Kai because I was curious what my rates were like and if there was anything to make it more efficient.

Previously I would farm wonder scrolls form the 8 magic vendors in my palace and then go forth into the world and visit all the magic vendors in the towns of North Tyris and South Tyris. In an hour I could get around 300 wonder scrolls. This time around, all I did was visit the magic vendors of my palace and would then just speed up time. Either through hopping on my snail, going out on the world map, and walking on my property tiles or waiting for it to snow and entering my shelter. My PCC breaks on mounts but I could care less. I'll probably disable riding animations all together since I don't regularly use mount aside from time manipulation.

So I speed up time, check the vendors in my palace, gather wonder scrolls, then speed up time again to make three days elapse at the very least, check vendors again, and repeat. In an hour I got 500 or so wonder scrolls. I suppose I could get more or less than this amount depending on how lucky I am with getting the scrolls to show up.

So after some calculations I found the rate at which I was getting 200-300 level bursts. If I farm wonder scrolls for like 4 hours, assuming I get 500 each time, I'll have 2000 wonder scrolls. Do this for a week and I have 14,000 wonder scrolls. Scroll section of the wiki claims that you get stock for the wish spell in about every 400 wonder scrolls. So 14,000/400 equals 35. When you get stock from wonder scrolls it's 200 so 35 * 200 equals 7000 stock in the wish spell. So in two weeks you'll have 14,000 wish stocks or if you're really lucky you may even get this in one week.

I've been farming wonder scrolls for awhile now and have managed to get 20,600 wish stock. Despite my wish level being at lv 85 I still have a fantastic chance of casting the spell due to high casting skill(1,300). I got my high casting skill through spamming oracle spells. That's why one of my pics has tons of oracle spellbooks reserved from the magic guild. As I was casting wish in bulk my casting skill was increasing along with my magic attribute and due to that, despite my wish spell growing in level, the game decided that instead of making the spell harder to cast to make it easier? I found that funny but I'll definitely take it.

So 20,600 wish stock translates into 287 wishes. 259 of that turned into successfully wished for descent potions with the rest being failures. So after getting 100 bonus skill points from turning in AP and chugging all the descent potions I blessed, I got 1,395 bonus points to put into my skills. I'll probably get MA to 1000 and begin putting points into tactics.

Not only have gotten a lot of wonder scrolls by just chilling at home doing the above but I've gotten a lot of herb seeds because my statues refresh and I've gotten a lot of potions of potential. Even got a couple of flying scrolls for my troubles. Had plenty of opportunities to buy potions of corruption which I bought a couple to refresh my stacks. So herb farms doing well and I just go to the puppy caves to find a hunger spirit and blow through my herbed curraria stacks every now and then for decent attribute gains. Attribute gains are slowing down now that I've crossed the 500 threshold but I'm not troubled by it because increasing skills and grinding have made the slow down barely noticeable.
>>
>>15561275
This is pretty intriguing. I might try to use this method.

Thanks for all those experiments, Kai.
>>
>>15561275
So, according to this theory, not only is it cheaper, but also faster to just invest in your home's shopkeepers, rather than trying to max out everyone in every town? If this is true, then powering up my character and pets doesn't seem as daunting anymore from a cash perspective.
>>
>>15561351
If all you're doing is farming for wonder scrolls because it's your goal of the day then just staying at your home, shopping from your invested shop keepers in your home, and speeding up time is probably the fastest way to get them from what I've seen. I'd have a podcast or some music playing in the background to keep yourself entertained. If you have the game windowed maybe watch a lets play, speed run, or documentary to keep entertained.

There are benefits though to investing in investing in magic vendors out of your home. If you get bored and want to hit up dungeons for small medals and big daddies then walking town to town for wonder scrolls doing dungeons along the way is still alright for farming but not as efficient. On the plus side you do get all those small medals and little sisters for more Kumiromi statues/gemstones.

I have my home just north of the truce grounds to take advantage of snow+shelter time speed ups. If I was to visit magic vendors outside my home my round was usually Home->Palmia->Vernis->Port Kapul->Cast Return to go home->Lumiest-> Cast Return to go to Larna to warp to Irva->Ulm Leson->Talk to the doctor to get teleported to South Tyris->Melugas->Arcbelc->Port Kurualm->Melkawn->Eirel->walk to south border and cross back to North Tyris->Cast return to home and repeat. I would do dungeons along the way but wouldn't go out of my way if they were very far from my path.

Don't think pets get bonus skill points from levels so the wonder scrolls thing is mainly for the player. However, pets get 400 bonus skill points instead of the 100 players get when they turn in AP for bonus skill points.
>>
>>15561463
When I mentioned about pets, I was more talking about Potions of Potential, since they're a magic vendor item that's a hot commodity to have, and so should have the same rules apply.

I have tons of GDQ runs to catch up on too, and popping in and out of shelters isn't too demanding. Maybe the grind won't be as painful as I imagine. Thanks Kai.

Anyone know how many love potions it takes to bring an npc to soulmate? I wanna pick up Gwen the Deredere before she turns into Gwen the Kuudere after finishing the Main quest

New player here. Around what level should I do the puppy cave/slime infestation?

I'm level 4 and my little girl is killing most things before I can even manage to hit them.

Should I leave her in town and just practice my skills in the first level of the puppy cave until I get a reasonable level?

I've already beaten the thieves in Vernis, but that was a combination of luck, picking fire breath as a feat, and having the little girl murder everyone else.

I'm a Juerre Warrior, and planning on keeping this character for the long haul. No matter how painful.
>>
>>15562605
You should go into the Slime basement as soon as possible, but only up to the hallway door. Grab the free furniture, herbs and equipment, book it and come back later when you have decent ranged attacks and better stats.
And when you do come back, send your pets to town and make sure you keep a putit between you and the slimes so you can plink them from afar while the putit keeps them from eating you. No bolt/ball spells unless you're sure you can take on a slime head-to-head.
>>
>>15562605
Puppey Cave isn't that difficult, probably more than doable at Level 4. You can wait for another 2-4 levels if you want to be super safe. Make sure you have a full set of equipment (all the bodyparts) so you have enough PV/DV not to die to a random crit + a few normal hits.
The main problem is that stupid dog keeps running off on the way back up to get itself killed, so you might need a bit of luck / a few retries
>>15562762
Also probably a good idea to leave your little girl in town for the slime one. She's just going to run in and get both of you killed.
Also good to have some equipment that floats you so the acid puddles don't wreck your equipments (or a decent level Feather spell... which you won't have this early).
>>
>>15562605
At early levels its important to get a solid starting amount on PV/DV since everything uses physicals at this poiint. Don't worry about the actual armour stats. Just fill out your equipment and then do the hunting quests a few times. Use the gold to upgrade your equipment, don't pass +3 it gets too expensive early on.
>>
>>15561775
From what i have seen love potions can't get you to soulmate you have to use gifts.

Plenty of outdated info in the wiki on this.
>>
>>15562762
>>15562857
>>15562866

Alright. Didn't honestly know if it was worth it to harden equipment this early.

After beating the thieves I assumed I was ready for the rest.

I managed to barely survive the first slime out of the room by keeping him at the end of a long hallway and fire breathing it to death. I assumed it was a boss or something... then opened the door, panicked and fire breathed killing basically everything in the room but the slimes. So I don't think the hide behind a putit solution is going to work.

Then I went to the puppy cave. First 3 levels are relatively fine unless I get ganged up on and critted. By the fourth I can barely hit anything in their without multiple tries. I managed to find the dog then got crit by a street performer.

One more quick question though. If I'm planning to mainly be a longsword fighter should I still try and read spell books?
>>
>>15564010
Yeah. You'll probably want some buffs, so getting a few levels of literacy will help you with that.

It depends on multiple factors, but mostly your shopkeep's Negotiation, Charisma, and your shop rank. Higher shopkeep stats means more sales for better prices, and a higher rank means more potential customers. If you change your shop type, it will sell that type of item faster and for more money. And of course, furniture and worthless garbage doesn't sell at all, so don't bother dumping your empty chests in the shop.

Nope, alien "pregnancy" is painful and potentially destructive, as it spawns an alien that can infect other NPCs with more babies. More NPCs spitting out babies (that scale with the host's level and stats) can quickly get out of hand if the hosts are high level, like guards or named NPCs. The only way to kill an alien pregnancy is to either puke it out or drink poisons, hence the dye.

>>
>>15569657
He uses lots of ball spells so resists will help. After lowering his life to a certain amount he'll mana burst. Does lots of damage so contingency might be necessary. Try not to raise his gauge too high or he'll do a very high damaging attack that may kill in one blow. Lay off the burst or use to the special action pressure. Kiting him with spells or range is easier than melee. At melee he may hit you with his book which does a decent amount of damageand you run the risk of him triggering multiple ragnaroks if you can't take him out fast enough in melee.

Thanks for the advice. I'll train up in the Void for EXP and randomized dungeons for small medals for Hermes Blood in the meantime. As for our old friend, I believe he starts using Mana Burst at <25% health. Does he only do this once or multiple times? I'll try to apply your advice with his gauge. Unfortunately, my pet focuses specifically on melee and I'm planning to decapitate him at <10% health with my pet's Tactical Attack to end the fight faster. So "Let's Ragnarok!", I guess.
>>
>>15569972

>>
>>15570028
>>15570037
I'll just assume that he'll do it at least two times during the fight. Hopefully contingency won't betray me this time around.

>>15570234
Try using the spreadsheet. The main method for raising pets' stats is blessed curaria (herbed-in), which gives massive gains to strength and constitution, as well as the other attributes, giving 8,000 EXP (affected by potential) each time. As for skills, start gathering up the rare raw ores (emerald, rubynus, and diamonds) to use at the pot for fusion. For every 5 raw ores, you can combine them to form a larger gem that is worth more than its components. Give this larger gem to your pet, which will be automatically sold when you're in town. Repeat the process using the larger gem and other junk items (gold bar, raw ore of mica, crystals, etc.) until your pet reaches 400% potential in all skills, then kill things in the Void or beat around in dungeons. Your pet will passively increase its skills, so you don't really need to worry about them at this point until its potentials begin dropping again.

Barrier is good however you really need a decent amount of MP to make it work well. Golem doesn't exactly have a good starting mana attribute so you might want to take it later instead when you've amassed quite a bit of MP. Speed is always useful but if you find yourself having problems saving AP then you might want to take barrier to just get it out of the way.

I think you've got to pickpocket their instrument first. IIRC, killing them while they still have their instrument means they respawn with it.

Yes, attributes and skills do scale up with level. They scale... well. There's no definite formula for it AFAIK.

>>15573753
<Stradivarius> is precious. You can't steal it.
>>
>>15573831
Fuck me sideways, I misread the instrument part. Pardon me.

Though I don't think they respawn with the same instrument.
>>
Do higher level corpses (such as hand of murderer vs hand of the dead) provide better stat bonuses?
>>
>>15573517
That's funny, because I read about the Stradivarius and decided to go hunting for it, and the first bard I killed (the one in Palmia by the fountains) she dropped it.
I stopped playing for a few months afterwards, and when I came back I didn't have the item anymore. So I went bard hunting again and 5 or 10 bards in got me it again. I wish I could get a living weapon though, my luck with them is abysmal.

My body is a weapon. Cry that I've only ever found 1 claw with resists in my current 70 hours run.

Are potions of cure corruption broken? I have 5 mutations and quaffing a blessed pot of cure corruption does nothing. I drank three but I've still got all the mutations.

(I reverted my save after this fuck up)
>>
>>15576355
Guys I'm stupid please forgive me. I got mutations and ether disease mixed up.

I accidentally gave my Little Girl a small medal and when I tried to take it back she just says "It's mine!". What a bitch. Is it really lost to her forever?

You should respect and love your pets, anon.

>>15577059
I do. She's being unreasonable, she can't even use it. Too spoiled. No more grand parfaits.

I'm trying to do escort quests but it says my party is full. I don't have anyone in my party, my last pet died and when i go to the slave dealer i get the option to sell a slave but the list is empty. My charisma is 16. How do i fix this?
>>
>>15577545
Pets that die still count towards the limit, go to a bartender and check there, if you want to keep some pets but not have them in your party, you can put them in the dojo.
>>
>>15577545
Your pet isn't permanently dead. There's an NPC in pubs that can revive them for a small fee.

Thanks, that helped

Can I get the Statue of Ehekatl even if I'm not worshiping her?

Yes

Is there any downside to removing all the altars of the other gods? Because to get my favor up with Jure I have converted every altar I've come across. Even at the cyber dome and truce grounds.
>>
>>15577653
You'll have a hard time getting the other god rewards if you eventually plan on getting them.
>>
>>15577653
You can burn altars in cities and they'll respawn as they originally were, so you've made switching gods later harder. Cyber Dome's altar can probably be burned and will respawn as Mani's (or maybe unclaimed) but Truce Ground doesn't refresh, so you're a little screwed there. Pretty much every time I visit Palmia I convert and then burn the altar there.

>>15577665
Eh, I was doing it for a bit of roleplay reasons, and wasn't really planning on switching for the rewards.

A bit disappointed I forgot to skip the luck goddeses altar, but as long as there isn't something horrible in the future then I guess it's fine.
