I'm not the best at explaining, but I can try. Beatrice would not exist without the catbox of Rokkenjima. The catbox piqued Lamda's interest and Lambda gave Beatrice life so she could use her in a game with Bern. All of the witch theories give her strength, due to the unknown nature of the actual massacre.
Beatrice was "born" when Battler almost drowned and lost his memory, thus closing the lid on the truth in the catbox.

There would be no reason for the Zepar/Furfur Kanon/Shannon duality if Beatrice were just a girl. The Shannon/Kanon conflict is a gender struggle at its heart, and it would not be the same if Yasu grew up with a normal sexual identity. Nor would it be a mere sex orientation issue, as it specifically ties into the furniture issue and what that actually means. Both Kanon and Shannon are "subhuman" furniture because neither is truly either gender. Beatrice's shriek of anguish in front of Nanjo and Genji isn't the shriek of a female with mere hidden physical trauma. To argue that Yasu was a girl all along is to ignore a big part of the real tragedy and the significance of key concepts in the story. This whole denial bullshit that's been perpetuated ever since EP7 is just this garbage romanticism that people use to cop out from the truth because they don't like the outcome.
