What's the point of watching streams? I hated when as kid me and my classmates would take turns at playing video games and all you could do was watching if it wasn't your turn

I played thouhou many times now and I could barely finish a few normal ones. I see people here saying they play on lunatic and I'd want to see how is to finish one. I like watching esports and it got me a habit of watching instead of playing.
