What's so great about Elona Custom?
>>
>>15371557
There's a large degree of tweaks and modifications, one of the most key being that it translates the full story of the game and numerous missing features that just didn't make it to the English version.

Here's a complete list of changes.

Yeah.. I remember those days, in vanila elona, when I could die from ether decease (when you get the last symptom), and always starved, cause I had no money to buy something to eat, and api nuts in outside were almost always cursed, and I had no money to identify... Well, I was newb, but still, elona was tough.
>>
>>15371957
it wasn't that bad as most mistakes ware our own lack of knowldge of the game rather than gameplay issues. ever since i reaized some food just doesn't rots (bread and candies and potatos and corn) starving stopped being an issue. curroption cure does come by to me more often those days (even if casino chips seems to be rarer) and identify does seem a lot chepaer lately tough.
>>
Well this game sure gets a lot of great art
>>
>>15371783
The difficulty of elona+ has decreased dramatically, yes. The initial hump remains somewhat the same, just slightly more diverse now that you have more options at hand. Depending on what you like, the real meat of the game lies in different parts. Some people consider Act 1 as the bulk of the game and see the rest like DLC content, others see Act 3 as the bulk of the game and Act 1/2 as the prologue.

>>15372208
Because there was a dedicated artist, but he's gone now. RIP.
>>
>>15372271
Really?

I did everything in continents 1 and 2 a few years back, optional superbosses included, at a really low level (I think I was pushing 700 HP by the end) via the most stupid of tactics ("Let me put on as much armor as I can that inflicts thorn damage and then chug potions until Siva murders itself!" "Let me tame an entire army of Bells of Termination and have them distract the giant mecha so I don't get a pile driver shoved through my skull while hoarding as many resurrect scrolls as I could!" "Let me pray to god my Asura manages to stop time with that one sword and then finish off the end of continent 2 boss before time unfreezes and it uses that bullshit super heal!")

I gave up in disgust on World 3 because the gods all were giant piles of fuck you and didn't even have the decency of dropping their bullshit equipment after dying. Then they nerfed black markets and I lost interest completely.

Wish I still had the old save file, what changed since then?
>>
>>15372352
Changes to the system made worshipping some gods easier than it was before. The changes that they had put in for travelling made leveling up more progressive, and nowadays you can pretty much progress without fighting once.

Introduction of AP system made speed gain to 800 easier than before. Effectiveness of pets and pet based builds were slightly increased and made more manageable. Artifact Fusion systems makes it so the original junk artifacts could be made useful.

Besides, Inheritance trivializes the game for the most part. Inherit a strong pet and the game is pretty much a walk in the park.
>>
>>15372352
Wow those are definitely some ghetto tactics right there. I've seen much worse though. Like this one guy that keeps using the voting system to falsely accuse adventurers of being a werewolf just to loot their subpar gear.
>>
>>15372514
Still don't understand the point of new game plusing or whatever its called in this game. Even if you do inherit a strong pet you'll get back to the same point of your last character faster but you just wasted all that time repeating what your former character did just to wind up stuck in the same position of former character. I guess its there if the game glitched so badly for your former character that you need to make a new one.
>>
>>15370377
Goddamn Lulwy is fine.
>>
>>15372619
I want to fuck her while i suck her toes.
no fetish.
>>
>>15372609
You wouldn't understand because there was never intended to be a point. New game plusing doesn't exist for the sake of minmaxing, it's just there as an option, and people can make what they will out of it. Frankly, Elona has long been one of the most casual roguelikes out there, and Inheritance really just makes it play out as more of a turn based RPG.

With that said, there's no real reason that the descendant has to step down the same path as the predecessor. If anything, that's strictly because of the player (you).

For people who see playing games as strictly "I'm going to play one character for life", New Game Plus serves no purpose. Similarly, for people who only play a single build, New Game Plus will seem immediately redundant. For individuals who like to explore different paths, then perhaps the option will give them a different platform to start off on.

It's also slightly worthwhile to note that Inheritance is the only way you'll start off with a Maken of any respectable level early on.
>>
Death word fucking sucks dude. I got it and didn't even have the icon so I thought I resisted it then 20 turns later bam, dead.
>>
>>15372915
Get used to holy rain/veils. Death word is amazingly "fun" when Alkonosts decide to combine them with teleport.
>>
>>15372973
It just blows when I get death word from an enemy outside of my range of vision while I'm fighting something else.
>>
>>15373001
Alkonosts will do that to your entire party (and everyone else in the room) before warping away so you have no clue where they went. Then it's a "chase the warping harpy git while constantly cleansing yourself" game. But generally they're always in range for a turn regardless of who they are, it's just that generally if you have low speed they might take a couple turns before you take yours.
>>
>>15373047
Those are the monsters who're doing it to me. I need to go to those upper level dungeons to get AP now but shit like Elemental Dragons make me run away and while I'm trying to avoid getting slaughtered, death word hits and I'm fucked.
>>
>>15373064
Void is generally better for AP than higher level dungeons. Element Dragons aren't that much of a concern if you have a strong saboteur/debuffer. Atlases can be a bit troublesome though considering they laugh at tanks.
>>
>>15373084
All of my allies right now are sub 70 in level because I'm still training them so I'm going into these alone.
>>
>>15373116
Good luck then, because honestly Element Dragons and Atlases are only the tip of the iceberg.
>>
>>15373140
I'm just going to have to put aside my own training to get them up to par. Ah boy, fun fun fun.
>>
>>15373159
On the positive side, it's a lot more effective and quicker training up pets than it is to actually train your own character.
>>
>>15373182
Yeah but it's a lot more fun training myself than training pets.

With them it's either take them to a suitable DL dungeon and let them loose or tag up with one of them in a high level one for some AP grinding.

When I need to train it's just find a good DL dungeon and thrash hard.

Ah those guys. Yeah I didn't like them either when I started to encounter them. They bullied the pets I was training. Pets would get hexed and give chase with me screaming to get back here so I could remove their hex before they died. Eventually I just silenced them on sight to prevent their teleport and my pet and I would jump them. Hex does 9,999 damage and it looks like that's the max for it. Shame, would of been an interesting pet but at least you know that hex loses its deadliness once you've crossed over 9,999 HP.

Don't know if you're a caster but if you are you can silence them so they won't do their bolt spells on you. Instead you'll just have to worry about their breath and claw attacks. The resistance spell should also help I think.

Atlas's were another source of pain for me but my pets especially got pounded into the dungeon floors or sent into walls. Truly a magnificent painter of red. Usually I would just tell all my pets to leave and I would solo it by kiting it. I think I also had fun with putting an atlas to sleep with the sleeping touch special action and then pickpocketing its hammer. It's damage was reduced due to having to now rely on its fists.

My trump card against most monsters in the past was just keeping a rod of change creature on hand and refilling it when charges got low. Was fun morphing atlases into putits or something less imposing.

Thanks for sharing this. Always interested in lore. Diagram seems to indicate that Kumiromi and Ehekatl are generally well liked among the gods. The only main hater is Mani and it seems a lot of the gods don't have nice feelings for him(Mani) either. So many red arrows pointing at him. From what I'm reading here Mani seems to think Kumiromi is a brat who doesn't talk much. He also doesn't think much of Ehekatl. Poor Ehekatl, the arrow pointing to him from her seems to indicate that she views Mani as a good warm bed. Lulwy if I'm interpreting this right thinks Opatos is annoying. Fitting that wind and earth don't get along. Jure is saying she views Mani as a scary older brother. Meanwhile Mani thinks Jure is an ambitious/treacherous witch. Harsh Mani.

Any of you guys cheat?

How hard is it to do a little of it here and there? Especially acquiring items dishonestly?
>>
>>15374115
Last time I cheated was 1.4x using EloSnack. If you just want items then try the map editor.
>>
>>15374115
There's so many ways to cheat in Elona, I wouldn't even know where to start.

Simple shit like savescumming, force resetting dungeons/maps for infinite medals, or abusing moongates (although most moongate/sandbag shenanigans are already removed), playing on overdose.

Slightly more complex like downloading custom NPCs/maps, cheat engine for numerical values.

A little more complex still with elosnack.
>>
Why do little girls spawn as vermin in hunting quests
I feel awful
>>
>>15374115
I recommend to make a new character and cheat everything everywhere to get it out of your system.

You'll regret doing it on your main char and end up rerolling.
>>
>>15374115
Little of it here and there? I mean you could do all sorts of shit with elosnack around. Aid packages every X levels, or editing your levels back down to 1 with stats unchanged, pretty much whatever shit you want. Elosnack is complex at first, but extremely easy to catch on, especially if you're into testing game codes and such.

No one really cares if you cheat as long as you're not stuffing it down other people's throats. If you think it helps you enjoy the game more go ahead.
>>
>>15374222
I only want to cheat up some very select items to avoid depending in cruel and vengeful RNG gods. I don't want to abuse it I know that ruins games.
>>
>>15374160
>There is no hunting like the hunting of lolis , and those who have hunted little girls long enough and liked it, never care for anything else. - Ernest Hemingway
>>
>>15374229
Is there any guide for items using Elosnack? I only took a quick look but it seemed like giving yourself items requires a lot of different rows of codes.
>>
>>15374230
The only item you have a leg to stand on with that argument is the superlure tbf
Everything else you can raise your chance to find/spawn if you know what you're doing, but the superlure is, for a gameplay changing item, really up to the rng.
>>
>>15374241
The wiki's article on it is pretty straightforward, but if you don't know item ids, then you're going to use it combined with the in game debugger. It's possible to modify item variations based on specific addresses, and there used to be a spreadsheet floating around with the right address bits that you need to input, but it's usually not posted here on the thread. The most useful application for it is generally on jewels of nefia, but it does apply to some other items as well.
>>
>>15374115
Only thing that I do that remotely comes close to cheating is save scumming. Aside from that, I absolutely refuse to do anything else that would drastically altar the way the game is meant to be played. Sorry to break to you but weapons and such play a small fraction in a person's overall power. Rather have a character with 500 tactics and a butter knife than a character with a fancy sword and 50 tactics. Also it's beneficial to not cheat anyhow since you'll learn more about the game and how to deal with stuff instead of just run into it with your character and hope for the best.
>>
Can I play as a little farmer girl that goes on an adventure to find friends and have a monsterboy harem?
>>
>>15374268
Save scumming is blatantly cheating though.
>>
>>15374275
Yes
>>
>>15374275
yes actually
you can:
play a farmer by selcting a farmer class at game start
play a little girl by rerooling at char creation untill your age i low enough. notice: some races have naturally lower starting ges than others- i think mutant and liches are an example of that, but im not sure.
you can get male monster as pets with monster balls and rods of domination
you can have them as monster boys by making a sprite for them and than [i]nteracting with them and changing their appearance to the sprite you have made for them
you can set words for them to say that they will use sometimes like the prince like 'ill protect you' or the bad boy 'you will never understand me' or the wild spirit 'wheee lets go there next, <player> its fun' or the shota 'onee chan, onee chan!' or whatnot
>>
Can I play as a traveller from another world -say, from some other fantasy like setting like lotr or got?

>>
>>15374361
I did it at level 24 with a level 60 silver bell, not sure if you can do it as easily without a pet.
>>
>>15374361
>whats a good level to beat zeome
Level only matters in terms of HP. What matters is the array of skills, your general stats, and how you approach his damage and heal rotations. Zeome is a stat check that needs dark resists.

>im 24 and i still cant take him down because i cant hit the guy and he just spams heal

That means you need more damage output. Either focus on getting more speed, or push your firearm skills up, or both. Or if you want to just get past the gate, get some strong pets to cheese him.

>i cannot seem to keep him silenced by throwing pots on him

Are you seriously trying to keep him contained using pots? You'd have a better chance leveling up mist of silence or something.

>also where do i grind hearts to evolve my little girl
Evolution Heart: Grind Cash.
Another Heart: Grind Cash, Pot of Fusion.
God Heart: No chance where you are right now.
King Heart: Only chance at your level is delete reloading in the storyline castle with the Chess Pieces.
Machine Heart: No chance at your level, don't remember any machine type mobs at that range either.
Magic Heart: Good luck grinding in dungeons. Pray to RNGesus
>>
>>15374390
>grind cash
?
>>
>>15374388
Bell + Winchester is generally a valid suppression option, considering Zeome's speed is at a pitiful 147 compared to the Bell's 652. Some people argue that dual bells to blow through Zeome is worth it so you can unlock Act 2 (and reliable monster ball/AP grinding) earlier rather than trying to slow grind through Act 1.
>>
>>15374397
Evolution Hearts are sold in Larna (1.5m) Another Hearts are made from pot of fusion with another heart item, generally evo since evos are easy to get.
>>
>>15374375

>>15374407

yeah but im a fairy

>>15374407
i have two bells and they get insta-gibbed if zeome actually lands a hit
(and i also think my fox boy does a little damage on them from friendly fire even though i have control magic on him)
they got nerfed in elona+ if i can recall
>>
>>15374414
I think technically a Bell of Termination can actually solo Lesimas by itself if you monster ball inherit it back. That delicious 2k base speed.
>>
>>15374424
The nerf has not been implemented yet. If you're using a pair of bells and it still isn't working I'd be curious about the loadout you're running on them and their own skills. The Winchester, while not essential, is extremely good for a firearm since it evokes Mist of Silence naturally, hence why it works as a stopgap suppression measure when combined with a high fire rate from the bells.

Fairies are always going to go down like paperweight. That's only going to get worse even if you do beat Zeome now. Consider that Zeome is at 147 speed tier, and a large number of monsters in Act 2 are 300+. They'll hit you like a car wreck on a freeway.
>>
>>15374435
theyre both gunners of course
gene-engie'd in firearms and marksman
no winchester though

they can do a considerable amount of dps but zeome can still out-heal them
and eventually the fight will drag on long enough that zeome will eventually land a hit on them and kill them

i guess i just gotta level and work on getting mist of silence
not really that hard because casting aint that hard to grind for as a fairy
>>
>>15374425
Soul spindles reduce an inherited pet's speed to 50, though.
>>
>>15374455
But if you use a monster ball they keep their stats, and I think you can inherit monster balls.
>>
>>15374455
Hence why I said monster ball inherit. Terminations aren't hit with the God penalty since they aren't gods, so you get the full stat package all at once.

>>15374452
Yeah, that's basically not enough dps. Gene engineer travelling onto them if you haven't already.
>>
>>15374361

Damn it I want to move my house but there's no deed of cave and palaces are still way beyond price range.
>>
>>15374741
If you're talking about South Tyria there isn't much of a point in moving your house there. Rehmido is pretty much dead center in the map, the switch point between the two in the North is return accessible, and the house you get in South Tyria covers the southern portion. Sooner or later you'll have to return to North Tyria anyways...so yeah.
>>

what do you mean?

>>15374813

>>
>>15374813
Maid Mansion is a quest unlock return point. Rehmido is a return point like Lesimas, so combine that with escape to get out the center. Then the South Tyris border is also a return point. The Ancient Garden is also a return point, but it's only really effective for a certain time span.

South Tyris is a very focused continent as far as content goes, so the amount of mandatory traveling you do from town to town isn't actually quite that much.

Well he does have a cool airship. I'll give him that. I just think it's funny Mani is calling Jure a ambitious/treacherous witch when he himself deceived Lulwy to claim godhood for himself. Mani is just as ambitious.

Speaking of mortals becoming gods, I really hope one day that my character or pets can join their ranks. I'd love to have my character Kai see his little girl Yuki off as she becomes a goddess. Hopefully a kind hearted goddess that becomes a patron for new adventurers and the strongest race in Elona.

I obviously mean the Roran race. I'm glad Ano in his infinite wisdom made that race an unplayable player race unless you unlocked it. The world will tremble as Yuki bestows her god pet on her faithful. Littler Girl Valkyrie!

So I played this before but never got really that far (I think highest I got was the main storyline dungeon level 16)

Anyways, I just saw a picture of a level 30 with 80 attribute stats for the most part and 300 AP, and he said it was pretty shit

Are my stats really this fucking garbage? Is there any fixing this if so?
>>

The best way of increasing attributes is eating herbs, so if you level by doing dungeons and stuff it wouldn't be as high. And that guy probably had a herb farm.

Why are you complaining about this? At best, you find something worthwhile that you can use. At worst, you now have additional free inventory in which you can sell. Just take the stuff out of the safe and resell it. The shop not only gives you an opportunity to make more gold than if you were to sell it to a regular vendor but also gives you an opportunity to get good equipment. It's a win win.

Correct.
Every time you move is when the world updates. Some monsters may get multiple turns in between your turns due to their speed, or you may get multiple before they get a chance to do anything if you have high speed.

This is why everybody says speed is the most important stat.

Was pretty nice to fish up a picture of my Exile in its infancy. Kai and his pets have come a long way. Didn't go about raising pets much later in the game but I think some of the strategies that follow might be applicable to a person earlier in the game.

Golden rule is the stuff that keeps your character alive will keep your pets alive. Give her stuff that has a decent amount of PV/DV. More importantly, have her equip stuff with lots of resists. You're probably going to have to cobble up a nice suit from the random gear you find in dungeons so keep your eyes open. It just gets that much harder when you have multiple pets to gear but it's almost required. A living weapon full of resists should do wonders as well if you can get your hands on one but not absolutely required.

When you get to South Tyris you have more options at your disposal. First, notice that the Exile's mana attribute is better than its life attribute. This means it gets more MP on level up than HP so it's MP bar is actually longer/better than its HP bar. Leold can grant your pet a trait that creates a barrier that is fueled by your MP bar. In essence, when you get damaged it goes to your MP bar instead of your HP bar first. Damage will go to your MP first until a certain threshold is met where the barrier will shut off and you take damage from your HP bar again. While I don't have this barrier for my Exile due to having some really good tanks, I'll get into this shortly, I will definitely pick up barrier soon.

Another thing you need to do for your Exile is build out its speed with AP. Pets, and characters, just do better with more speed. They get more actions so if they're strong enough they'll just kill stuff before anything can even touch them.

Having good tanks can keep your ranged pets alive. My Valkyrie served as my tank and had her learn shadowstep from Leold. When she spots an enemy she teleports instantly to it, getting its attention, and sticking to it. Since the enemies are focused on her my Exile stays relatively safe. Get a few tank pets with shadow step and you should have a nice vanguard. I currently have two now but I wouldn't mind more. While I don't have provoke on my pets that might work too.

Last thing you can do is build out its HP through giving the Exile hero cheese. I've been doing that with all my pets. Unfortunately, this is more of an endgame thing. It takes an extraordinary amount of time to be able to farm hero cheese with ease but I just wanted to point it out as a future option if you end up sticking around.

Final note, kinda related to survival, is to give your Exile equipment that enhances spells. That should boost its damage and in turn, allow you to kill things hopefully before they even touch your Exile.

Also to add to what I've said, have you been gene engineering your exile? Not only should you be doing that to have your exile learn skills he/she doesn't know but if you gene engineer higher level pets into the Exile the Exile will level up. Levels also translate into more HP.

Also, herbs help the player out in increasing attributes and they do the same for your pets too. Strength, constitution, and I think will too play a role in HP.

Pets get much more AP if they kill things themselves without tagging. What matters is killing blow though. Tagging is a crutch to generate initial AP for some of your speed upgrades. It is not meant to be something you do forever. Just get enough speed and have your pets kill things on their own. Yes, the initial generation of AP is the hardest part and yes it's a grind. You'll need to get used to that part. It does get easier as your pet gets stronger though.

I played a lot back around ElonaPlus 1.20-ish and want to start again. Fortunately it seems like there was no problem loading my data to 1.58.

Last time I stopped playing because it was too difficult to train my pets and I didn't want to just dominate really strong ones, I want to raise the three I have. Is it easier to enhance my existing pets than it was before? Party (all around level 47):

(Main character) Fairy Farmer, light armor (fairy, duh), guns. Also 316 farming skill.

(Pet 1) Cat Princess, heavy armor, sword + shield melee fighter.

(Pet 2) Black-catgirl, light armor, dual-wielding melee.

(Pet 3) Dog-sister, medium armor, crossbow.

I would like to avoid doing anything gross to my allies like giving them extra arms and stuff through gene engineering. What will I need in my party to tackle 2nd/3rd continent fights? I assume magic, seems like I could start learning it myself on main character. Never been good at actually fighting, iirc I only got the item to evolve my black-catgirl by wishing Lulwy in on the boss that carried it.
>>
>>15381280
2nd continent is a gradual progression up from the 1st that basically requires you to add more stats and resists, and that's about it, up until the last boss fight, There's a couple DPS checks along the way, but the end boss of South Tyris is generally the biggest DPS check, as her Super Regene generally must be bursted through.

Your speed isn't bad, but 100-200 range is low for Act 2, and you should probably begin to boost that up towards the 500 cap. This will make things easier as you go along. Traditionally all けもびと in general are tough to sustain, since their ini is relatively high, but their speed isn't actually high enough so they end up in a bit of an awkward spot.

It's definitely possible to have far higher stats at your current level for you and your pets, but you'll need a fair amount of herbed food to do that, and that's probably the best place to start right now, assuming you don't have any money issues. I have no clue what your dog sister really gains from worshipping Opatos by the way.
>>
>>15381339
Thanks, so it sounds like focusing on speed is the next step, I'll try that.

Neither do I, I haven't done much with my pets besides give them appropriate gear and drag them along with me, feeding them herbed food every now and then since I'm drowning in herbs. Who should she be worshiping? I worshiped Kumiromi until I became a better farmer than him, then switched to Ehekatl for reasons I can't remember (maybe to get the black-catgirl?)

Babysitting is a general must early on. All pets in this game represent some level of investment that needs to be made in order to see them become "self sufficient". Just that some pets are less intensive than others, with early game bells being a fire and forget missile essentially. Outside of that, getting a God pet is one of the better bets if you don't know very well what you're doing or what you want the pet to do.

>>15384741

As for general speed INI values, generally you won't see early pets go too far past 120 - 130. The dog for instance is 404/110. Even a Servant (I used the Golden Knight here) is only 390/116. It isn't until you get to late game monsters that the INI values start to shoot up.

If you want to find exact values, you should look up what the base monster for each of your pets was and check stats that way to see what your INI values should be..
>>
>>15384741
Not the anon you responded to but yes, your INI value right now is doing you no favors. INI value is fixed on character creation and it doesn't change ever. So if you have a high INI, you're stuck with a high INI for the rest of the game. AP will be slower to gain than a character with lower INI but if you're up for the challenge by all means continue.

If you were to use Elona snack or some sort of cheat engine to fix this problem I guess what you would do is make a new fairy farmer and when you get in the game write the INI values of it down. The new character's value should be the right value. Then you just use Elona snack or something. Nobody should fault you for this since you're actually using it to fix something that isn't your fault. Unlike the lamers who actually cheat.

If you want to avoid cheating of any kind or want to avoid making a mistake or something making a new character really isn't a bad idea. A lot has changed since the time you've played. You might find it refreshing to start again. Also, if you are really averse to losing your pet and items consider making a gene. Have your new character inherit your pets and some of your items.
>>
>>15384807
>>15384854
Thanks for the help. I generated a new test fairy farmer to see what their INIT was, it's 241/120. So yeah, if that value really doesn't change then I'm right screwed.

>>15384854
Inheriting is an interesting idea, but won't I inherit my pets in their INIT-screwed state? It would fix my main character, but not the pets, wouldn't it? I think I'll just go crawling for the proper INIT values, cat goddess and dog sister shouldn't be too hard to find. Black-catgirl would have same as black cat sine evolving doesn't change INIT, if I understand correctly?
>>
>>15384895
Init doesn't change with evolution, it's based off the lowest stats to begin with.

But the only way to inherit your current pets is via soul spindle, and that "fixes" the init problem by dropping all of your stats to 50. This arguably shafts any pet you inherit this way, considering the rest of your stats aren't all over 50. iirc the only stats exempt from this might be life/mana.

Put into perspective, a 200+ init character generally won't start gaining AP until level 80 - 100+ in the Void, so the equivalent on dungeon levels is even higher. The test team that I used for screens can take level 150+ monsters at their current level - but in any standard game, having INIT values like that essentially means you're never going see any AP gain for a very long time.
>>
>>15384895
You can also try fooling around with soul spindles, that might be a viable alternative if you're trying to inherit.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Soul_spindle
>>
>>15384766

initially you will be upgrading pets a lot, the little girl is okay but there is a number of unique npcs you get as pets rather quickly, isca, pascal and murder knight are better then most random shit you can recruit, after those just recruit whatever ranged pet seems tough until you are able to invest in a pet.
>>
>>15384895
I don't really know what will happen actually to their INI value. You see, when you inherit pets they do become a bit weaker but if they really were strong to begin with this is a minor set back. Since a bunch of stuff gets recalculated it's possible their INI value may be reset back to what it should be when you make a new game and inherit them. If at all anything it might be worth a shot. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out. Use these wiki pages for help in what you can inherit and to help you decide what's best for you.

>>
>>15384935
I'd be wary of recruiting any of those. The only thing Isca has going for her is a relatively low speed for alright INI gains, and other than that her stats are merely passable at her level range, with absolutely no special actions or any other buffs whatsoever. She needs around 1m in cash to get her stat gain back up from hopeless if you're not going to give her stacks of potential pots.

Pascal has passable speed at 230, but the problem is that means 230 speed INI, and you end up with similar problems as to anon above, since by the time you hit Act 2 the speed cap is already at 500. Pascal at least has Boost going for him I guess.

The Murder Knight's time stop is probably his only calling card because his other stats are relatively dismal. Furthermore, he's also going to be hit by the Armor nerf being as he's from the Armor race - having 40 base life with all his defenses stacked in a bitflag doesn't help him much. Even Isca has higher constitution than him.

If you're training your pets diligently, it's not hard to come equal to any of those NPCs, and that's neglecting to mention the NPCs you can just monster ball come Act 2.

But Attributes INI seems to be the sum of two different fields: offset 640, and offset 792. For example, my Fairy Farmer has 1063 attribute INIT, which is 165 (in offset 640) + 898 (in offset 792). The linked talk page said something about offset 640 being for AP adjustment, not sure what they mean.

Basically I'm not sure what combination to edit these two fields in to drop my attribute INIT to where it should be. My pets seem to have a similar split, with most of it being in offset 792, but some being in offset 640. Any ideas? If not I guess I'll just proportionally drop each of them until they add up to the proper values.
>>
>>15385190
>Speed INI is at offset 792 (no problem)
I meant to say that speed INI is at offset 796.
>>
>>15385190
The base INI split doesn't matter too much. If a base character is anything to go by take 20% of your base INI and put it in offset 792. The remainder goes in 640.
>>
>>15385227
Thanks, I made a new fairy farmer and opened in Elosnack to confirm. My freshly genned char has 165 in offset 640, the exact same as my Lv.47 old character, with the remainder in offset 792.

So for attribute INI adjusting, it would seem that the proper procedure is to simply leave offset 640 entirely alone since it's already correct as-is, and make all necessary adjustments to offset 792.

Thanks all, now I don't have to abandon the characters I've spent so much time with.
>>
What's this INI stuff mean? Mine's 328/70 but I can't make heads or tails of this convo.
>>
>>15385285
INI is used as the basis for AP gain, and essentially can be seen as a baseline for approximating stat strength for any given monster. It's split into two separate categories, attribute and speed.

Attribute is essentially the sum of your base stats minus life/mana/speed. It's generally not that useful, given that monsters can have deceptively low Attribute INIs but still be rather effective.

Speed INI is essentially your base speed, before any improvements are taken into account. This plays a large factor in AP gain, as the higher your INI value, primarily this INI value, the harder the enemy has to be (based off of their own INI value) in order for you to gain AP from them.
>>
>>15385285
what >>15385305 said, but also you shouldn't need to worry about it, your values look normal. This convo was about a bug where characters created pre.1.3.7 have heavily inflated INI values that ruin them. You're fine.

Say, about the Main Quest:

does it have downtime, or is it like the usual "the world is ending but we have time to do sidequests" shit that often happens in rpgs?
>>
>>15385873
the world is not so much ending as it is going to shit in slow motion, so there's plenty of time to do sidequests. Plus the PC isn't even the main character in the main quest, so it's more like you carry on with your life, and occasionally you get a cutscene of the real main characters risking their lives.
>>
>>15385587
you can also draw charge out of them to power other stuff. there's no upper limit in how much charge you can hold, far as I can tell.
>>
>>15385587
I combine it with mana battery to have near infinite amount of magic missle.
>>
>>15385873
The world isn't ending, it's changing. A large majority of the problems that occur are a byproduct of one of several changes occurring on the continent of Tyria, and partly a byproduct of a sociological change that's occurring offshore. Even if you didn't do anything, realistically the world wouldn't end, it would merely change in terms of climate (both weather wise as well as the sociopolitical climate).

Parts of the monster lore and stuff you find out in Act II all point towards the "what could have been" scenario. For the most part the main theme of the story is that if you can't keep up with the world as it changes, you're most likely going to get left behind. One of the main antagonist's storylines falls directly into this in terms of the choices he makes.

>>15385885
Ironically the "real" MCs don't risk their lives much. One of them spends most of his time relaxing in Derphy while the other pair are running around on somebody else's coattails.

It's been a really long time since I last played Elona so I think I need some advice...

I've really gotta up my PCs melee damage. Aside from raising my strength which as far as I remember was most optimally done by eating good food which is pretty slow IMO what should I focus on to get more power from my hits?
>>
>>15386188
Boost skills that are related to whatever you're doing for melee damage. Regardless of what kind of melee character you are, tactics is one of the main skills that boosts melee damage. Weapon skill of choice mainly boosts accuracy of said weapon but also gives a small boost to damage multiplier as well. If you're a two hand wielder then the two hand skill also will boost your damage multiplier.

Try to mark one or two melee skills you want at near constant 400 potential and invest all your platinum coins into them. Keep your potentials high and grind them out. Spend AP on bonus skill points and put points into your melee skills as well.
>>
>>15386188
get a training machine, those raise your str potential
focus on your weapons. don't just switc around to whatever has the most dice, if you have used daggers till now than the axe won't be as usefull

remember, some weapons and skills related to them aren't str based. short swords are dex, and polearms are sta.

aside from simply fighting alot, food is indeed good source for stats. meat especialy usefull for melee, but also bread.

>>
>>15388783
Just modify your character sheet and drop those into the user slots. There are guides for this on the wiki.
>>
>>15388790
Can I get them as a pet? They're some kind of boss from what I'm looking at
>>
>>15388798
It's not hard to grab a boss. By the time you get to act 3, most bosses can be Astral Light Penned, even the ones you killed in the past. They'll show up in Amur-Cage.
>>
>>15388798
You'd use an Astral Light Pen to capture Vansesda as a pet. Normally, one would use a monster ball to capture hostile NPCs, but monster balls don't work on boss enemies.

Note that you would have to be at least half the monster's level before cloning it as a pet (in this case, Vansesda is level 180), so you would need to be at least level 90.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Astral_Light_Pen
>>
>>15388827
You might be able to give potions of descent to the variants in Amur-Cage, which is the only thing I can think of that might work to shift the level requirement, but it's something that would need testing to actually confirm.

That and getting stacks of descent without just snacking them is ridiculously tedious.
>>
>>15388798
>>15388827
Note that a fully evolved fire dragon child has the same sprite as Vansesda, so you'd end up with the same visual result.

http://elona.wikia.com/wiki/Pet_Evolution#Dragon
>>
>>15388846
Sprite wise it doesn't matter. You can give a snail the same sprite as a Five Headed God just by duping the sprite into a free slot. That said, the anon did say that this was Vansesda.

I mean it's plausible that they got to 90, ALPed, then used potions of descent to drop themselves down to level 77 or something. I don't remember what limitations the ALP in early versions actually had.
>>
>My char weighs 19kg

Jesus how do I give her some twinkies or something.
>>
>>15389132
Your character gets hungry as time goes on so just eat stuff. You'll gain weight slowly. Just don't vomit up stuff as that causes you to lose weight.
>>
>>15389132
Are you a fairy?
>>
>>15389170
>Just don't vomit up stuff as that causes you to lose weight.
Well eating in this game is a russian roulette of cursed food so....
>>
>>15389175
You need to identify your stuff before you eat them anon. Another thing you can do is make holy water and bless your food if they're cursed. The blessing overrides curse. Can also just buy food from the baker.
>>
>>15389175
Drop your food on the ground next to a pet, let pet stand on top. If pet doesn't eat food, it's cursed. If pet starts to eat, it's fine. Shove them off and eat it. Make a horse farm or something if you're in need of food that badly.
>>
>>15389258
Why do I need a horse farm?
You want me to eat horse?
>>
>>15389267
Horses are generally easy to come by, they have rather high breed power, and in comparison to other mobs in a similar situation, they raise constitution (in comparison to the putit raising charisma).

At one point I heard that the level cap was 6,666 and awhile ago I heard the level cap was at 10,000. I'm now guessing that both might be correct in a way. Now that I've crossed level 6,666 around the 860 hour mark of gameplay, I'm viewing level 6,666 as a soft cap. After level 6,666 it becomes very hard to level. The summoning of high level spirits to kill them is no longer working for me. Highest exp I get from killing things is around 500 exp while the average hovers around 200. Spamming spells from what I can tell at this moment might be a faster way to gain exp than seeking out monsters to kill. 10,000 might be the hard cap? At any rate, either a level 1053 summon spirit spell isn't enough anymore or the gravy train of level ups is over at 6,666. Still, that was a fantastic run while it lasted. Now another grind quest begins as I cap out my AP and just finish off the skills relevant to my build. Then I can turn my full attention to my pet army.

>>15390347
They can make for good multihanded dual wielding pets. Like any pet though, you have to invest heavily into it to make it shine though.

INI never changes after initial generation, hence why the God races for generation are seen as another beginner`s trap. You can increase your speed however much after initial generation and it won`t shift your speed INI.
>>
>>15390618
>>15390771
What he said. I used speed upper potions, herbs, and Hermes blood to get my speed to 2000. These days you can even use AP to get up to 800 and then do the above mentioned to get your speed to 2000. I have a bit over 2000 speed actually through equipment. Combined with the feat kokou and with a high swimming skill, my speed can get as high as 2400ish if I'm in a dungeon with water or if its raining.

the next frontier is Wishes.

1 Wish = 1 pt in any stat or skill / 1 level (via potion of descent).

It definitely is starting to look that way. Since I've used wonder scrolls to stock summon spirit and meteor its nice that I don't really have to change a thing to what I'm doing as wonder scrolls provide stock for wish as well.

It also makes sense from a roleplaying sense too I gues. Started the game as a Eulderna that could barely hold his own against a Kobold. Through relentless skill grind, special diets, and potions my character was slowly sculpted into a super human. Through the wielding of powerful magics that could level whole cities and manipulate spirits my character tapped into the power of the gods. Now that my character has godlike power he will go on to bend reality to his will(wish) to further transcend his current state.

Been a long time since I played this, and I can't remember what I was doing with my character when I left off. As a quick refresher, is magic still the major go-to for eventual overwhelming damage dealing, or did melee (martial arts in particular) ever get buffs to close the gap?
>>
>>15392806
I've seen the traditional melee types, two hand and dual wield, reach the damage I've seen with magic. Martial arts though is a wild card. >>
>>15392806
>is magic still the major go-to for eventual overwhelming damage dealing, or did melee (martial arts in particular) ever get buffs to close the gap?
magic has never ever been the major damage dealer at any stage of the game, elona+ only made it viable lategame
>>
>>15392918
That is so wrong I don't even know where to start. Unless you're talking about vanilla Elona instead of Elona+.
>>
>>15392806

Melee is a joke and pretty much always will be a joke in Elona.

The devs never let it occur to them to divide damage between the hand slots so lesser armed characters have a reason to exist

As the PC, Enemy units take advantage and abuse the fact that it's super difficult to raise your multipliers and thusly make it very unviable to you mid game else you'll get fucking brutalized when you want to try taking on some high HP and PV/DV dipshit like Siva

Late game is a point where it starts evening out because the damage across everything gets pretty big so the returns don't matter as much, however the path to it is in no way worth just "evening"

Literally just make a mage and stick with it.

to beef up potential
1. gene engineer cooking into one of your pets (you get it from priests, go to the slave trader- the nurse isn't a priest, but one of the wizards actually is; don't remember which one). now each time you wake up between dawn and noon yo will have nutrious food waiting for you.

2. Don't eat herbs. instead, get cooking, farming and pot of fusion. use pot of fusion to herb-in food. That you eat. (also, get a farm and plant herb seeds.)

3. use training machine. ok, it only raise strength potential and you can only use one every couple of days, but its still better than nothing.

4. you know what? screw it.

>I can't so magic unless it's with rods

>do you lack casting and/or lirarcy or something, or its just that you are heavy armored/shield/dual wielding down your chances? or is it just lack of books?

I think it's more that I don't get how it works. I have a bunch of dream-learned spells and a bunch of books i've found and I THINK I have charges for some spells but I don't think I've pulled off a single one successfully. I don't know if it's just because low skill or because I'm missing something important, but failing to cast does raise my proficiency in each spell at least, until I miscalculate and die.
>>
>>15394402
alright first off:
1.do you have the 'casting' skill?
2. if your total equipment (what you actually equip) weight is more than 15s it gets in yourr casting. if its more than 35s it REALLY gets in your casting. you can see the weight at the bottom when pressin 'w'.
3. if you dual wield or use a shield it also lowers your chance.

Shame, I really wished this query had gotten replies. Was hoping to maybe learn something new or get new ideas for pets. Guess I'll take a stab at this then.

Provided my roster. Also cut and pasted other relevant info into the character sheets. Not counting the gods, my trained up pets at the time and I have killed a room full of king in yellows and tsathogguas at lv 560 of the void with everyone surviving. Still awaiting a nightmare situation where I have kill a room full of deep void quality performaid pinchiefs though.

Skill grind and herbs helped build everyone's attributes but I can't stress enough how important AP to bonus skill points is. (After using AP to get to 800 speed). Especially when it comes to pets. The vast majority of my pet's skill levels has come from AP instead of having them spam/grind out a skill. Anyhow, following is my roster.

Kai: My character. Eulderna Gunner. Through that race and class pairing I started right out of the gates with gun skills, magic skills, and magic device. A range character through and through but leaning more strongly on magic. Pet basic attributes grow faster than player's attributes but I'm much stronger than my pets actually.

Yuki:Little girl evolved into a Valkyrie. Acts as part of the vanguard and a tank in my party. Pictures of the little girl always depicted her wielding an impossibly large weapon so the three skills I dumped all AP in for her were tactics, polearms, and two hand. Gave her the biggest polearm I could find which ended up being the Pile Driver. A gigantic mechanical drill which she uses to put holes in her enemies.

Yumeria: The Exile that is a raging alcoholic. Caster pet so she hangs out in the back with me. Exile makes a good casting pet due to his/her double cast ability. Casting pet is probably the easiest pet to build as far as skills go. Only skill I dumped AP on was casting as a casting pet's damage revolves around that skill. In normal dungeons where resists aren't much of a problem she hogs all the kills. The vanguard usually can't do much as they're dead before they can act. This is all changes in the void though due to a combination of resists and just everything having tons of HP. The tables turn and my vanguard starts hogging all the kills. This is the reason why Yuki's and Akeno's levels are much higher than hers. Regardless of this fact, Yumeria's a useful member of the party insofar as she can deliver decent damage and has AOE capabilities.

Akeno: Based on the Pro-Jet pet, this pet was majorly overhauled through gene engineering and given a new sprite and portrait. Started out as a mechanical doll owned by a swordsman who retired to live out his dream of being surrounded by maids. Swordsman would train during the day but little did he know that when he went to bed his doll would spring to life and mimic his training exercises. Fast forward to present, swordsman is dead and I learn I can inherit this maid mansion as long as I clear out its roach problem. Kill the roaches, inherit the house and in turn the doll. Through the power of science I give her an adult sized body(a hose from my ranches attached to the doll's mouth feeding her blessed milk and eggs to make her taller and heavier.) Understandably she hates milks and eggs now. Akeno is a vanilla dual wield pet (13 slot regular human setup). Dumped all AP into tactics, dual wield, and long sword. Vanguard and effective tank due to metal race. Combined with resist gear, she doesn't take much damage.

Mayu: Based on the performaid bitchiack. Monster seems to have caused people to pull their hair out and say some mean things.(Ex: Wiki comment on this monster). When that happens it's a sign that said monster should be looked over as a potential pet. Current pet I'm training that makes heavy use of Custom's AI features. I have her moving up to her enemy and applying a list of debuffs before spamming magic storm. If she should run out of magic she'll throw her panties at them. AP dumps are in tactics and casting.

Shoggoth: Haven't named her as I just started prepping this pet for training as a member of the vanguard. Tentacles everywhere is the theme so lots of gene engineering took place. Managed to fit 8 hands on her. Looking at her character sheet it seems I'm taking care of a baby shoggoth. I'm no Lovecraft expert but I'm pretty sure shoggoth's are supposed to huge. May need to swap her portrait out until she gets older and bigger. Whatever, I'll raise this shoggoth into a respectable member of society.

Future pets: Elea archer or martial artist, (Kai's older sister)Eulderna Warrior, Smash Ogre martial artist/wizard.

Don't have any corruptions on my character Kai.Some of those corruptions may be useful to a lower level character but at my point I'd rather take the equipment slots. Some examples off of the top of my head why is because of the equipment attributes of proximity assist or interlocking shooting mechanism. They can be found on boots and or cloaks. Both attributes can add 20k or more in damage to a regular attack. Another reason but the main one is that I'd rather have an equipment slot which I can fill with resists.

>>
>>15397901
When going with Martial Arts, make sure to have both hands equipped with claws/tonfas, since having only one hand equipped actually causes your hit rate to drop by quite a bit. Buy a claw and equip with alongside the Shield Tonfa. Reinforcing them also increases accuracy and damage, even if that might be a bit too early given your gp amount.

So in the early game I've had a blast with pets, they would basically flip out and murder everything the moment a fight started, but now that I'm entering the midgame of the original elona, some of my squishier pets tend to die a lot. Any idea on what to do about that?

Also what are some good healer pets? I still don't have one. Maybe I should pick up healing with my main character or something?
>>
>>15400019
Pets level up faster than you if you spoil them, but it's pointless if they still have the same equips they spawned with. Gear them up as good as you are, gene Greater Evasion/Eye Of Mind on all of them, and start getting them custom AIs if you're playing Custom. Also the more pets you have, the harder it is to get them trained up. Pickpocket/Cooking on pets helps too to keep potential up.
>>
>pick up pet
>train and raise and equip them
>Meet better higher level version of them later

This is not a very nice feeling I don't want to NTR my bros. Does the power gap between subspicies get bridged by training or do the stronger ones always remain potentially better?
>>
>>15400824
You can make any pet the best pet if you put work in it, and the lower level ones have better ini so they can gain ap easier, so they can be a bit easier to raise, since the ap helps, as does the lower training cost.

>>15401036

>>15401039
The wiki isn't very clear about max speed, and there were some conflicting comments in certain discussions, which is why I was confused. It does say something about 2000 speed monsters so with >>15401036 I guess I conclude that's max monster speed.
>>

>>
>>15400037
I am equipping them, the problem is they still just die when the AoE blasts start flying. In some cases like dragon breath they sometimes just get 1 shot.
>>
>>15401100
It helps for inner gods (the canon most powerful enemies). After that, it depends how far you want to grind in the void. Also understand that no matter your actual skill levels or damage, higher speed allows you to do those faster and so acts as a multiplier.
>>
is there a way to permanently fuck up your character that can't be fixed/rolled back with grinding?
>>
>>15401910
All stats can be brought back up no matter how fucked they are, if you can grind.
Hence, the question becomes "Is there a loop that prevents grinding?". Given hunger, any loop of this type has to include a death.

The obvious candidate is an overwhelmingly powerful monster in your home that favors magic or breath attacks. You don't, last I checked, gain XP from being hit with spells or breaths, and it can kill you that way without ever coming into attack range (assuming your character's lost all their ranged weapons and spell stock). But I don't know if they'd stick around indefinitely.
>>
>>15401910
Killing Little Sisters reduces Big Daddy spawn chance, so if you kill too many, that's going to be crippling if you rely on statues of Kumiromi for herb seeds.

Ah, I remember those days. When the prevailing method of pet ownership was similar to this: Get a pet to help you do harder dungeons, Those dungeon makes your character stronger leading you to do even harder dungeons, dump your pet for a stronger pet you find in the new dungeons you're doing. Repeat. That was a sad time for pets.

Luckily various changes in Elona+ has made it so permanent pet ownership works and is now even the best way to go about dealing with pets.

Seeing your pet through everything and never ditching them is the only way you'll ever get a pet past lv 1000. For reference, Astral Light Pen inner god is lv 600 after the god recruitment penalty kicks in. Max level in the game is probably 10,000. Keeping your pets for the long term is also the only way you'll ever have pets with capped attributes. You are very limited in the pets you can capture later on as you can't capture dungeon bosses or enemies in the void.

My little girl Yuki turned Valkyrie in my pic >>15397483 is not a high level little girl I captured in a dungeon. Yuki is the very same little girl that was excited to be reunited with the main character upon entering Vernis. I've had her in my party as long as I've been playing the game pretty much.

>>15401032
He's, >>15401036, correct. Soft cap for speed is 2000. Normal methods of raising speed such as potions, herbs and AP will not work once you hit 2000. You'll just sit at 2000. There are however, things that can carry you past 2000 such as speed bonuses from equipment, being a one man party with the kokou feat, and being wet with a high swimming skill.

>>15401100
>>15401508
This. Siva, the top doge of South Tyris, also comes to mind. It is very important to have your speed at least somewhat close to your enemies speed so that the amount of actions both of you take will be somewhat equal. Also, yes there has been monsters in the void that I've met with 2000 speed and yes, their attributes can reach inner god levels. An old picture, but here's the character sheet of a yellow king I met in the void. Used an insight lens to get the character sheet.

Class can be changed later on if necessary - don't be fooled by their stat bases, those don't really matter past the early game. A general consensus is that warmage is one of the best class choices because it can put you at 97% casting with medium armor.

Race is more important - golems/yerles/elea are good overall choices, mutant for exotic melee builds. Fairy is a popular meme race that brings lots of "I'm getting oneshot a lot guys, is there any way to fix this?"

Starting skills also don't matter. They can be acquired through platinum.

Sampling of the damage I do with spells. If resists aren't taken into account, probably my 2nd strongest spell. First being meteor which does 300-500k damage to everything on the floors I train on in the void. Damage would be much higher in a normal dungeon where things don't have as much resists. Early on in my adventuring I leveled up all the spells I had due to needing to raise my magic skills and getting a feel for which spells I liked. Eventually I settled on core spells I would level and ignored the rest. The spells highlighted in red are my core attack spells I became fond of. The ball spells such as iceball, fireball, thunder ball/vortex, magic ball/storm, Eclipse, etc completely curb stomp magic dart as far as damage goes. So I find it kind of sad when a wizard neglects those spells.I have enough control magic where my ball spells don't hurt my pets. The water spells do laughable damage, compared to my other spells, but I'm using them to apply the wet status on enemies which boost the damage of iceball and thunder vortex. I'm particularly fond of the fireball spell because when I encounter the undead the damage I can crank out with fireball reaches meteor levels.

I plan on having my shoggoth wield 8 living lightsabers. I will use the carpentry skill/tool to craft lightsabers and will create batches of them. Hopefully out of those batches I'll get some living lightsabers. Still, some lightsabers will be pretty good even if they aren't living and I will use said lightsabers as the weapons she'll train with. As she's training in dungeons and the void I'll get more materials and create more batches until I get all the living lightsabers I need. For the living lightsabers I'll use material kits to up their damage. You can get material kits through quests in the game and through a vendor in Larna if invested enough. You can also reroll a "cheap" material kit into something really good through Garrok. I'll probably use an ether or adamantium material kit on my living lightsabers.

I'll probably skip the artifact fusion part with my living lightsabers this time around but if you have the resources for it and the patience do artifact fusion first and then level up your lightsabers to max out the stuff on them. Pretty stoked about the amount of damage a multi armed living lightsaber pet might do. I was already impressed with Akeno's dual wield living lightsabers so I hope for better with my shoggoth.

Most of us god slayers wear the inner god weapons as attribute crutches. In my case I don't wield the tail as a weapon but the 691 magic attribute boost boosts the amount of dice I roll for damage when it comes to my spells.

There is a reason why some godslayers such as myself don't wield inner god weapons as well....a weapon. That reason being is that all inner god weapons come with the "it brings an end" attribute that makes it so that a regular attack has a chance of spawning ragnarok. At our levels ragnarok isn't deadly but it's annoying to have to deal with. That annoyance is what's deterring me from wielding Mani's G3 EXA. Instead I wield the N97 Cannon. If you can put up with the occasional ragnarok then you certainly have a weapon(s) that does awesome damage.

A compromise you can do once you have inner weapons is to do what some of us godslayers have been doing as pointed out above. Use them as attribute crutches. If I was a melee warrior who did not want to put up with ragnarok I'd shove say the God Breaker into my shoot slot and dual wield whatever weapon I wanted. The 691 strength boost from the God Breaker in the shoot slot will up my damage multiplier by at least 10x. All the meanwhile I can attack with my dual wield weapons and not have to worry about ragnarok as long as I stick to melee. Hope that makes sense. As a firearm user I don't really melee so that's why I put the buster book and the tail in my hand slots.
>>
>>15402464
That was the compromise I took with dual wielding Frisia's Tail and the Buster Book while still leaving my shoot slot for the N97 cannon. I had a hard decision to make, take the hit to cast chance or lose magic damage multiplier and 691 boost to both learning and magic attributes. In the end, I valued my spell damage so I took the hit to cast chance. You get used to 86% cast chance in time. Didn't want to change my class to warmage or give up my shoot slot because I do use my gun quite a bit. There has been plenty of times where I couldn't cast due to silence or due to it being dangerous(MP being zapped to zero or worse, blowing up your character and dying). Such as being under the influence of insanity, confused, and dim. Even golems who fall under insanity are not immune to the following dim from what I gather from a high level golem that posted here in the past but I digress. For those times when I can't cast I use rods and if that isn't available my guns are always there for me.

Man, getting new body parts is harder than I thought. getting my Asura to wear armor is gonna be tough.

So what's the general way of leveling living weapons when aiming for damage? I have a pair of living lightsabers I'm thinking of working on to pass the time.
Elemental damage? Crit? Other? How bad is the blood sucking penalty past 10, anyway?

I did a spread of elemental damage. In the picture I want to showcase panel 5 and 6. Panel 5 shows all the numbers that popped up when I just hit the spacebar once to pass one turn.If you add up all the damage in panel 5 the total damage is very impressive.

On the other hand, another anon has indicated that putting all your living weaponlevel ups into just boosting magic damage may be better. In theory it sounds pretty good. After all, most monsters have very little magic resist. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anyone who has done this yet or the ones that have aren't coming forward. I'd like to see what the numbers are like someday for a magic damage focused living weapon(s). I might end up experimenting with this myself for my shoggoth and her weapons but it will be awhile before I get to her since I'm currently training another pet. Maybe you can test it and report back for us?

As for the blood sucking. It doesn't bother my pet but then again she has a lot of HP. So I guess if you don't have a lot of HP it's very dangerous but as you rise in levels, attributes, and in turn HP then it eventually just becomes a minor annoyance. As you've indicated, you can just put the leveling of your living weapon on pause when it gets to level 10 if you're unsure about the well being of the wielder. Perhaps continuing its leveling at a later point in time when you're not as worried about blood sucking.

Hmm. I suppose I might have a look into focusing on magic damage? I could also test it on my much less optimized older character, who also has several living weapons and provided the gene for my current character several years ago...

The character I normally play isn't particularly high level, and health is always sort of a problem due to the Fairy race, so I'm hesitant on the bloodsucking.

Blood sucking was the best thing to ever happen to my living weapon.
It's responsible for over half of my current ranks of Healing.

I felt the same way at first
Then I remembered that I went from town to town killing the homeless, nobles and farmers for a chance of gear drops.
So I'm a monster no matter what, but at least I'm putting those slaves to good use.

[Changes and additions]
* Tentatively added a new facility to the Act III continent.
* Added 3 unique NPCs for Act III.
* Reduced quest points, experience, and gold gained from performing, preaching, and using Fascination Dance on summoned NPCs. They also no longer throw items at you.
* The chance of having a physical attack hit the target that is independent of the characters' statuses (i.e. fluke attacks) now depends on the attacker's Luck attribute.

[Fixes]
* When an adventurer has an item that is not a weapon equipped in his hands, it will now automatically get corrected.

I would assume that it's the chance of landing a hit on an enemy even if your hit rate is obscenely low or the enemy's evasion is really high. I never even knew of that feature's existence before this, so I just translated it literally.

Well lets see how much the tickets are reduced by then. Currently making about 2 million music tickets every 16 party quests. Nerf might be kinda balanced out if spell training changes turns out to be favorable to casters.
>>
>>15404184
That sounds plausible. What a weird mechanic to change though. I doubt any player is making use of it enough to make this change impactful either way.

Good to make Luck have some use I guess.

So now I got a Flame Edge sword, which is possibly better than the one I was using before. Except I'm not sure, because I don't know how the fire damage works. The wiki says (900) or something, but I don't see any fire damage happening, just basic hits.

How is this damage supposed to work?
>>
>>15404281
Elemental damage comes after physical damage in the log. In the case of this screenshot, 6945 is the physical damage, 3296 the elemental damage (in this case raw magic element).
>>
A centaur pet with actual centaur bodyparts was more work than I thought it would be.

The in-game centaurs are, unlike their sprites suggest, really just horses who can somehow shoot a bow despite not having hands.
>>
>>15404281
Are you killing everything in one hit? If so, you won't see the fire damage since the physical damage is already killing everything you hit.
>>

Damage numbers for a lightsaber with all 10 levels put into magic damage, for anyone who is interested. Sheet numbers for melee are 2d15+180 x19.4.

FYI, with 67 Longsword skill, I'm doing more damamge with this lightsaber than I am with two tonfas and 157 in Martial Arts. 100% pierce is pretty good. Biggest problem is hitting level 250+ enemies.
>>
>>15404379
Were you converting a humanoid to a centaur, or were you trying to turn an in-game centaur into an actual centaur?

>>
>>15406236
When you say 10 levels, what do you mean by that? 10 jewels from Urcaguary?

Related to >>15406259 , I there's a rumor that the "absolute piercing attack" jewel ignores all defense when it triggers, where pierce % only ignores the PV dice roll. If you put a piercing attack jewel on, that might boost its damage.

What does this mean? A period? How do I capitalize on it?
>>
>>15406267
It's a living weapon. 10 levels, all scummed to give elemental damage of magic. I have a couple spare sitting around, so I thought I'd try to see what the damage was like.

>>15406259
I have no idea. I assume 100% pierce means it bypasses 100% of the normal defense numbers for just the physical damage, although there were a number of enemies who took significantly less damage so...
>>
>>15406274
For the next two-thousand turns, you have a bonus to MAG and PER potential. To capitalize on it, do things that train MAG and/or PER.
>>
>>15405618
Twenty seven slots...aren't you going to be one slow mutant then because of the body complication thing for going over thirteen slots? Think the wiki said like five percent reduction for each body part over thirteen? So twenty seven minus thirteen is fourteen times five equals seventy. Seventy percent decrease in speed sounds horrible.
>>
Maxes out at 50%, and you can still have max speed if you ride, it's pretty much required probably. I don't know if I'll actually use the mutant character, but I want to try and do it just to fuck around, and maybe if I like it, actually use it.

Actually heard that pierce is the one that ignores PV dice roll and absolute pierce is actually a chance for a vorpal attack. Kinda like decapitation. If you go to the special action (Elona+) page on the wiki and scroll to say clash rush they say throws an absolute piercing attack (vorpal)

Well, here's a cool fact in case you didn't know, pets drinking from fountains summon enemies of their level, so my bell of termination summoned a grand-master, and some other stuff, but didn't notice that that was since I died instantly.

It's not clear to me if the class bonuses from warrior/predator/claymore trigger once per move or for every hand you attack with. Can anyone else address this?

If it's just one trigger per attack, I'd go with claymore/predator.
>>
>>15406423
If you're going for maximum hands, you want to go for Claymore early on because crits always hit and your accuracy will be fuckawful.
