Have you tried to make some sense of the magic in MGE?

As I view it it's pretty simple

>Humans have human mana (spirit energy)
>They can also draw mana from their environment
>Men have a lot of it inside them and can replenish it easily
>Women have only a bit and can't replenish it as well, but they can draw from outside more easily
>They can practice and learn how to use that energy in various ways (that's where the typical RPG magic spells come in)

>They can also practice and learn to use that mana the same way humans do and they also have their own spells (E.G: resurrection by undeads, weather control by Ryu, all the Sabbath spells, etc...)

Then there are a bunch of details, but most of them can be cleared up pretty easily

The only thing that makes MGE's magic seem so senseless is that we have absolutely no reference or scale whatsoever

I have about 8 hours on it so far, haven't beat it yet. That 8 hours does include a little bit of idle time, plus I've been taking the time to explore the levels.

If I have one gripe it's that they encourage exploration, but make it difficult to backtrack through some levels later on, closing a door behind you and keeping it locked, or progressing into the next area by dropping down through something you can't climb back up to. I do fully intend to replay the game once I beat it though.
