Super beginner here. I recently ordered a 21cm obitsu because I want to test doing faceups and whatnot on something that isnt super expensive. Anyway, does anyone have one of these and know what types of clothing or shoes fit on those bodies? Mostly shoes because I feel comfortable enough with sewing to fix bigger clothes to fit, but shoes would be pretty much impossible to make.

I have got to ask.
What body would you use to make customs of Clarion and Nene here?
Would DDS/S bust for Clarion and DD3/ S bust
for Nene, or would DDS for Nene and MDD for Clarion be the better approach?
Or would two of the Obitsu bodies give a more accurate representation of the height difference?

Some people hate the dolls because they dislike Choo. That seems silly to me, I'm sure there are people at Volks I wouldn't like either but that doesn't stop me from liking their dolls.

That said, I own a smart doll Kizuna and the vinyl quality on everything except the bust and head is not up to par with what Volks makes. It feels thin and brittle. I do like her though and I'm really considering getting Chitose when she gets released, pic related.

Poseability is decent, both the hand and feet joints have three axis. The only real limitation I've found is that the knees stops bending at 90 degrees.

Not that anon but my experience is that they're all a bit loose in the waist area but that can be hidden with an appropriate top. The boot cut jeans otherwise have a perfect fit. The skinny ones are hard to push over the heel if you want a bodysuit under, otherwise you can obviously just take the foot off while dressing.

1) Try wig spray and gently brush. Wig spray/mist is basically a drop or two of fabric softener in a spray bottle filled with water.

2) Wet the wig in warm (like hot from the tap not hot from a kettle) water, hand upside down to dry

Ease up turbo there's a few things to consider before sticking a DD head on an Obitsu body. Afaik it's not a direct swap, a custom neck piece or some creative fuckery may be required and also the Obitsu body comes in 40, 45, 47, 48 and 50cm versions for you to choose from. Most of the differences being in the legs and arms, some have a shorter waist too.

I personally like the Obitsu body but it's for a different audience than dollfies. The lack of seamless silicone parts and a plug-and-play dollho attest to this. It just doesn't have the assets the Volks body does.

It's a good body. And most DDS clothing fits the 50 and MSD/MDD clothing fits the 40. Just please when you buy the body from parabox include some basic clothing so your doll won't feel embarrased about having such a hamfist for a master.

While it's quite easy to spend that much money you don't really have to, unless you live in a country with heavy import taxes on toys.

The DD base models sell for 46k yen on the international store which is ~$400 with todays exchange rate, the new Candy model is rather cute imo. You'll have to pay for shipping as well which is about $50 extra. Another alternative is to go for a base body (~$260) and one of the unpainted heads (~$35) and commission a faceup. Commissions can cost between $50 to more than the body itself depending on the artist.

But of course, if you have your eyes set on a character model doll then expect to pay the amount mentioned by the anon above.

Volks sets aren't much cheaper for MDD, maybe $10-20 overall. If you're buying single pieces of clothing rather than sets, then the MDD stuff is a bit cheaper, but again, not by much.

Hello. I'm going to Japan in a month and I was wondering if anyone had any know-how or experience buying Dollfie Dream dolls from Japan? Can you buy them off the shelf from Akihabara etc. Knowing the quality of used japanese products I'd be totally okay buying second hand if the price is right and I'd find a really beautiful doll that I'd like. I'm an avid figure collector but BJDs are totally new to me and I'd be interested buying one while I'm visiting there. Also, no need to pay customs that way!

Sometimes it's modifications+faceup, other times its the sculpt. Most DDH-01 will have the mouth sanded off and re-painted on with an expression. Then you have dolls like Haruka who have a sculpted :D face.

It is one of the few custom things I want to get and try out. But I have very bad knowledge of what is better. There are so many shapes and sizes and materials. I simply want something that will look good in a 1/3 size dollfie dream doll.

And more specifically I would like one of those magnificent eye designs with hearts in them. I spotted some at etsy, which seem to be some "do it yourself and sell stuff" place. Not entirely sure of quality there.

Etsy will be the place to go for animetic eyes with funky designs. Just check on DoA or Dollfiedreams.com for more reviews of the eyes if there aren't a ton of reviews on etsy.

For DD, you'll want to look for animetic eyes in the sizes 18mm to 24 mm. Note that 18 is pretty small for some doll sculpts, and 24 is huge for some doll sculpts. Look at regular DD Miku and Snow Miku. Snow Miku has 24 mm and Miku has 20mm (or is it 22 mm? either way, good for a comparison).

Fuck, I hate having to treat stains. I put some black pants on one of my dolls last night but forgot to put a body stocking on her, and only realised that when I was already at work. The threads left some nasty marks on her waist that'll take ages to come out.

It's something I'd probably never see with the kinds of outfits I like, but it feels bad to just leave stains where they are!

I bought a couple pairs of eyes from Lizanna that I really liked. However when I checked back a few days ago they have raised their price to $38 USD per pair of eyes. Not sure if it's within your budget, just tossing it out there. Price is kinda high for me at this point.

Only if you let it dry. Wash it off afterwards and make sure you clean her face properly otherwise it will eat her faceup.

Seems my eye problem is solved with no extra spending. Strawberry looks a lot better with these eyes. Another image of what I did with the round eyes in a bit.

OK so I think round eyes work on this head much better. Still to small but that's fine larger ones are still on the way from before. Also I cut the connector and vinyl from the neck bringing the head down. It looks much better.
