The number of evangile wallscroll bundles has dropped from 30 to 23, and it has moved to the second spot on hardcopy sales chart. Est hardcopy sales for entire week 18-26.

Although a surprisingly large fraction of anonymous appear to have bought yurirei, Haruka is beating it in preorders if the popularity sort is to be believed.

Mangagamer appears to have taken on some new translators as neither the evangile fandisk nor pygmalion appear to be being done by any of the usual suspects.

I have a feeling conjueror's next next project is a mangagamer project as well given his shilling, which is something that allows one to narrow down that bizarre tournament of his a fair deal.

And of course, all of the usual suspects themselves are finishing up something, or will be finishing up something likely before con season. I guess eroge e3'll be something this year.
>>
>>14661483
Well that would match up with Euphoria and the pattern of best selling games being rape/scat. It is funny because it means rapeplay would probably have been among the best translation options the industry could bring here, even though it almost killed the industry.

I guess what feminists wants and porn consumers want is complete opposite. What a surprise!
>>
>>14661574

That statement was more focused on the honest surprise at how much of /jp/ bought yurirei. While Haruka will probably sell fairly well on namepower alone, yurirei will have the power of steam behind it in the end.

>the pattern of best selling games being rape/scat

I have not observed this pattern. While Euphoria has done surprisingly well, I do not believe it to be entirely due to it's selection of content but instead on it's more memetic status.

Rather, instead the pattern of mangagamer's best selling games instead seems to be more a matter of getting on steam. Beyond that, it would appear that having pretty art and a diverse cast of waifus seems to help a title sales wise. With diversity in this instance meaning both tits and atleast one girl that is/borders on loli.

I'm not the least surprised at yurirei sales. People want to tell Valve their steam censorship is shit, and buying Yurirei is the best way to do it. Many people think the games only sell because of Steam, but there are plenty of Steam games that don't sell well at all.
>>
>>14661621
Isn't it just the trend MG has stated themselves? That a title with an anime and with gameplay and sex will outsell other things? It has little to do with body sizes or actual content, just that it hits all the standards for a good seller.

Not to mention that Yurirei really has no claim to fame other then lesbians and tits on steam. It has no anime and isn't really a title anyone has been proclaiming as kamige for years.

It makes complete sense that at least on MG's site, Haruka would sell better as it fits every criteria for selling well.
>>
I see gameplay as a negative in this market. Because there is literally nothing worse than multi route gameplay titles that force you to replay the same levels dozens of times.

But yes, a highly linear with no routes and no options game would be fine with porn. Not sure if Haruka fits that description.
>>
>>14661483
159346 - 2016-01-23, picked up FF2, Haruka and of course, Yurirei.

Pygmalion's being done by BlackDragon or Good_Haro, isn't it? Both just finished their projects and one of them is the one who wanted to do Pygmalion and is the reason it is being brought over, so that would make sense, I just can't remember which one.
>>
>>14661829
That's what you see, but sales rankings disagree with you as to what most want. Any gameplay seems to be enough to make something popular.
>>
>>14661630
Anon, I really admire you for keeping up with this for so long.
>>
>>14661502
>>14661836
It's BDH doing pygmalion. MG has also always had some lesser-known translators who don't expose themselves to public scrutiny much. It's probably one of those doing w happiness.

> have a feeling conjueror's next next project is a mangagamer project
Nope. He already said multiple times that the Japanese company is releasing it themselves and that no other western company is involved.
>>
>>14661836
Definitely BlackDragon. GH doesn't care about anything but BL.
>>
>>14661360

He is ON a project directly from Japanese devs.
He has a POSSIBLE OFFICIAL NEXT PROJECT that is unknown completely, aside from being on the first 48 of his contest. (since he added suggested titles on it later which dont count)
>>
>>14661856
>GH doesn't care about anything but BL.
You're aware that it was GH who translated ultimate boob wars right?
>>
>>14661907
Yes, and? Most first-time MG translators can't afford to be picky.
>>
>>14661929
Considering MG have recently been constrained by lack of TLs, I'm not sure that's true anymore (if ever).
>>
>>14661856

I care about other stuff (fwiw I'm probably the only person at MG who finished reading Fraternite). I've worked on way more non-BL titles so far too. No one else at MG is particularly interested in josei-muke titles though.

But, no, I am not working on Pygmalion.
>>
>>14661941
>josei-muke titles
Do those actually exist outside of handhold devices? Any recommendations that might appeal to men too?
>>
>>14661941
Cool, thanks for the info.

>>14661955
I'm wondering about this too.
>>
>>14661955

Yeah of course. BL is josei-muke and primarily a PC-based genre and there are a number of PC otome games (I mean look at Ozmafia). There are a few 18+ otome games that I could see guys enjoying too and a couple more plot-oriented all-ages ones that people might find interesting. I mean, there are a few BL games I think y'all would enjoy too if you could stop being babbies about a extra few dicks.

Anyway, I've got a few titles I'm gunning for. Hopefully it'll happen, but it's not really up to me.

If you want to be pedantic, translation was finished three weeks ago.

>Otherwise all further textual work on my part will be purely reactive to any issues/bugs/errors/typos/etc made. I expect Tolrin's editing pass to be done within a week or two. Once that's finished, it can be released as soon as the image work is done to my satisfaction. The more of that I have to do myself, the longer it's going to be until that point.

>Although a surprisingly large fraction of anonymous appear to have bought yurirei, Haruka is beating it in preorders if the popularity sort is to be believed.
Not surprising, since most people will likely just wait for Kindred Spirits to come out on Steam.
>>
>>14662361
Sure, which makes it even stranger than Dan or whateverhisnameis forgot to update the chart 3 or 4 times now.
>>
>>14661802
I know some people that are on the fence about Yurirei because of the artstyle and it mostly being a kinetic game like Gahkthun was.
>>
>>14661836
It's BlackDragonHunt and Maria that just finished their projects, Ozmafia hasn't finished translation yet, so Good_Haro has to still be working on it.
>>
>>14661978
I remember there being a Phantom of the Opera otome that I thought looked interesting. Not a usual fan of the genre, but I'd consider checking that one out if translated.
>>

Are you new? Dan88 hates Aroduc ever since the Himegari thing. Seinarukana updates were also posted by him all the time and it was never updated.

What? The only thing I remember from the ''Himegari'' thing is Aroduc dropped it because it was too lewd or some such.

>>
>>14662446

they're probably trying to heavily imply a Vita port without actually promising it in the campaign so that they're not actually obligated to deliver if things don't work out
>>
>>14662472
That's exactly what they're doing. They italicized the letters for "ps vita" in the KS text. That way, they can hint at it without getting caught in another broken promise.
>>
>>14662446
Looks like Sekai changed the description for the game.

This one seems funny and cool anon but if i have to make a choice i would choose https://vndb.org/v10948 but it's impossible because the girls are too busty or old "milf" for MG customers.
>>
>>14662817
This one: https://vndb.org/v2225

Apparently it's not from main Clock Up team(but artist is Hamashima Shigeo) and relatively old, so it has low chance.
>>
>>14662827
Hmm. It shares characters with Eroge and Eromanga, so I wonder if they'd want to do Eromanga first, even though this one came out first.
>>
>>14662864
Too old. If MG pick a new ClockUp title it'll be Eromanga! because it's recent and there is a hentai anime adaptation. Or maybe Fraternite because it's in the same style as Euphoria and i heard Euphoria did great sales wise.
>>
>>14662771
I think something from https://vndb.org/v1061 and on would be good. https://vndb.org/v5100 look like the best of their older works. It will probably be something more recent though.
>>
>>14662886
The said that euphoria likely did well because it had a sizable female fan base and people defending it for being art. They're concerned that those things might not translate to other similar works.
>>
>>14662886
A 2012 release is not too old. They've released games from 2006-2008.
>>
>>14662937
I know but if you look at their last releases you can see that they want to focus on recent title with appealing art and chara-design. Erotsuma! looks old if you compare with Eroge! or Eromanga! even if they are from the same "setting".

>>14662931
Euphoria did great because the anime adaptation is really popular in the west. Hamashima Shigeo art is gorgeous too.
>>
Lol, Sekai Project's Vita hail mary for Root Double is restricted to $225 or more tiers and will take at least an extra year to release. RIP Root Double Kickstarter.
>>
>>14662485

>>
>>14663103

>>
>>14663126
They claim they have Sony approval for Root Double. But who knows if you can really believe them after all that bullshit they put out about how it took them almost 2 years to push paperwork through Sony.
>>
>>14663159
And you know they'll just wait until 2017 before announcing that it's harder than they thought, then in 2018, announcing that it won't be happening after all, but anybody who wants a refund can have $40 of their pledge back.
>>
>>14663159
I've seen it happen for another dev. And that dev delayed the PC version to release at the same time as the Vita version. I had to wait ages for a finished game.
>>
>>14663176
If they get their money back did they just waste theirs and everyone else's time?
>>
>>14663190
Only the theoretical cost of the Vita game out of the $200+.

They get to keep the rest to go into Dovac's vault so he can swim around in like Scrooge McDuck.
>>
>>14663190
They won't get any money because this Kickstarter is going to fail. The Vita was their last hope, but now it's dead with how poorly they delivered on it.
>>
>>14663212

>>
>>14663223

>>
>>14663231

Takumi Nakazawa just has the worst of luck. Zero Escape series becomes massively popular in the West even though it steals all of its twists from his earlier works, with Uchikoshi entering popular perception as the creator of the infinity series (while nobody has heard of the arguably more influential Nakazawa) while Nakazawa's post-infinity works remain really obscure here, then his game almost gets cancelled because of a nuclear disaster, and when he gets the chance to release something in the West, Sekai Project royally screws up the Kickstarter.
>>
>>14663774
Same for the Lemnisca, too.
>>
lawl where's my popcorn RD train wreck going at full speed to failure
>>
>>14663774
Not just Uchikoshi, Hayashi Naotaka(Chaos Head, Steins Gate) became pretty popular too. He was another KID writer.
>>
>>14663243
They're now blaming the weather for why they can't ship physical goods for WAS yet. The California weather.

>Nov 6
>Physical goods are on their way, we're going to have them ready to ship before the holidays

>Dec 8
>Physical goods have arrived, we're ready to start shipping

>Dec 15
>Actually don't have all the physical goods yet. You have until January 4th to finalize your address and then we'll start shipping.

>January 19
>Physical goods have arrived, again, but not going to ship until it stops raining.

Christ, Sekai Project.

Just got spammed by sekai about a giveaway they're holding. Pledge at least 30 and get entered in to a raffle. Isn't that against the rules? https://www.kickstarter.com/rules/prohibited
>>
>>14663943
So report them.
>>
>>14663943
And kickstarter isn't supposed to be used as a pre-order system. Like they really care.
>>
>>14663796

I actually think they're doing better than they were a week ago. If they can manage to keep up their current rate of pledges for the next 8 days, they'll probably actually make it with the final push+them covertly adding a bit to the pot.
>>
>>14663865
Yeah, but Naotaka became popular due to making good new stuff (arguably Chaos;Head took inspiration from Never7, but it's very different). Uchikoshi became popular due to rehashing the stuff he made with Nakazawa, receiving all of the credit for the twists even though he barely did anything new, and in the process completely eclipsed Nakazawa's works in the Western fanbase. Ever17 gets lower ratings due to people already having seen the twists in Zero Escape.
>>
>>14663962
They needed this Vita push to get them at least 15-20k or to raise the baseline. It doesn't look like this has enough legs, they'll be back at doing 1.5k per day soon and they'll fall short.
>>
>>14663978
It's still financially well worth it for them to donate $20k of their own money, 'paying' only $2k to KS fees, to make sure they get the $90k that they sure as shit wouldn't make with a normal release.

They also won't need to fulfill those high rewards since it's themselves.
>>
>>14663943
While I doubt Kickstarter is happy with this, the linked page just implies that the campaign itself may not be a raffle or contest. What Sekai is doing is not really explicitly prohibited.

This is definitely shady as fuck and against KS rules to promise shit outside the project's scope for backing it having nothing to do with the project.
>>

Everyone report this to KS. Raffles are explicitly prohibited.

Although that may be what they want so they can relaunch it at a lower number and handwave an excuse.

>>14664456
KS probably wont do shit unless several people report it.

>>14664456
Dovac's too stupid to come up with a plan like that. He no doubt probably honestly though it was a good idea, and 50% chance was planning on 'randomly' giving the prizes to his own people anywaay.

>>14664472
They won't do shit because raffles done off their website are probably not against the letter of the rules.

The most beautiful thing about this statement is the tacit admission that original goal is not for funding the project in the first place. Afterall, if the money was doing anything other than being pocketed in the first place, there'd be no room to use it to fund a vita version.

Do you really believe that there are so many Vita owners willing to shell out $225+ to get a *digital only* game a *year* after everyone else has done reading it on PC already? I'm not saying there are none, but I'm sure it's SP backing themselves out of the failure, like >>14663985 said.

In other news, it's now possible to dump Vita games in decrypted form:

That's not trolling though. SP is releasing Grisaia with all Kazuki, Asako, Julia and so on scenes removed and scenario retconned as if they never happened, which is going to fuck up dynamics between Yuuji and Asako+Julia and leave some things about his personality unexplained or bullshitted. Don't want to even guess what they are going to do with epilogue in Rakuen, Yuuji vs Kazuki standoff was only decent thing there and now its not going to happen.

Herkz is trying to laugh it off by making it look like people care only because of weird fetish porn, but he's not fooling anyone here and issue is very serious.

>As for BB3 in the future… even post-behemoth, I wouldn't hold my breath for a number of reasons. The most important one is that SH Chara's engine by default is double-width unicode, so it needs to have some… stuff… hacked to it to make it display English correctly. The hacker who did that for BB1/2 is with MangaGamer now and wasn't returning any messages for fixing the few lingering issues with BB2. I have, however, been told that MG and SHChara have been in touch with each other and they're not totally against it, but not now. Not soon. Not next month. I wouldn't even put bets on this year. But that is a possibility I've heard rumblings of in the future. The point is, until that issue is solved, I'm not going to lift a finger to work on it.

Which will just make him even less kickstarter funds in the future because people don't tolerate that shit unless they are already SJWs themselves.

Even JAST wouldn't put out an official fully uncensored version of Shiny Days. I don't see dovac taking the risk. I don't see denpa ever doing hardcore games either, since everyone basically knows they're Sekai Project under a different name.
>>
>>14676449
On the other hand that game did so terribly they sold it at 50% off at Christmas Sale. So censorship and game crashing bugs are not the stuff you want to go with unless you want it instantly in a bargain bin.
>>
>>14676470
dovac can't afford to be associated with any questionable releases, since he dreams of getting his games published on consoles. He wants to be mainstream.

'Even JAST'? JAST has been known to censor titles in the past. It's more amazing they went on for so long without censoring a title.

And I doubt Meikyuu's 18+ release will be an issue for DenpaSoft. Kajitsu had a little girl (though indeed not canonically underage) have sex with a guy she called 'Papa'. You'd have to try hard to get more controversial than that.

Who cares if it's only for the Steam release?

However, since they're tailoring it for Steamfags it means they're basically rewriting the plot.

Gas them, gas them all.

Though I think the elephant in the room is that Steamfags get their version first while the 18+ one is a total afterthought. SP is awful, I hope they die and the void gets replaced by Mangagamer who seem to be the only vaguely competent folks in the industry.
>>
>>14676901
Sekai Project; they're pretty well know for making "cheap" translations, editing the fan ones and claiming them like "new/improved translations" or releasing VN without without proofreading. Excluding Koest or the guys from Lemisca they level it's a la par with MoeNovel.

I wonder why dovac even bothers with VNs. His kickstarter shows that you can sell shikishi for 4000 dollars in black and white, or 6000 dollars in color. If he just mass produced like 100 of those and sold it would get him 600 000 dollars.

>>
>>14678366
It'll make it. SP will back it with their own money if need be.

SP wouldn't *quite* be paying for it, the employees would be on paper, which enables them to donate whatever the greatest remaining reward is, so they can to not arouse suspicion, as I doubt that it's against KSes ToS for employees of said corporation to invest in projects, since that would be borderline unenforceable, especially if a larger company was hosting a Kickstarter.

In exchange for the employee backing whatever amount, they'd get the same amount back with some extra, either through raises, stock options, or whatever for 'good performance'. Nothing about this would be on paper.

The ridiculously expensive options for almost anything on Kickstarter always felt like a dev pledge device, to be honest.

Comparison of daily funding data.

> https://www.kicktraq.com/projects/sekaiproject/root-double-before-crime-after-days-xtend-edition/#chart-daily

Compare and contrast. While Libra had a longer funding period, it also had gradual incrementing and decrementing pledges throughout the period. The only massive drops and rises were at the very beginning, and at the very end immediately during the final 7 days, ostensibly when the final week notice is sent out, and from possible additional advertising on Kickstarter for soon-to-be-expired projects. Regardless of the cause that's the important point, that it's the final week that you get a massive spike in donations, in fact, most of the donations actually come in at the end (72k+ was donated in the final 7 days of the Libra Kickstarter, despite it nearly reaching it's goal of 125k beforehand). Essentially, what I'm saying is that Root Double would almost surely be funded even if SP didn't pump any money into it, because almost half of the pledges commonly come at the end unless there's immense hype riding on it (e.g. Muv Luv).

However, looking at the Root Double data seems somewhat unnatural. It starts out fine, ranging all the way to the 24th, but then you have a very strange spike at a zenith, from 1.4k to 9.4k, then a slight drop for two days, then back to 7.5k. It's unnatural, momentum does not work that way, based on the Libra and Muv Luv Kickstarters. Especially since this is right before the final 7 days, which tends to be one of the most inactive periods.

My conclusion is that SP is pumping money into it.
>>
>>14678468
That's a minor expense. The basis that scum use Kickstarter for is for financial security. Doesn't get funded? No security.

Even if Root Double was only 70% funded and SP had to pump 30% into it, it's a minor loss when that 70% may or may not purchase the game if it was released, and if they release the title despite the Kickstarter failing, they'll lose reputation with the public for just looking for a cheap buck on Kickstarter rather than actually using it to fund a project that wouldn't otherwise get funded. Conversely, if they didn't release it, they'd lose reputation with VN publishers for being unreliable and wasting company resources in a tight-margin industry.

The only path to victory for them is ensuring the Kickstarter succeeds, despite the costs, because the alternative is far worse. It's ironic really, that a platform that wealthy jews use for financial security, is also the platform that can and will ruin them.

>>
>>14678503

>>
>>14678534

>>

>>14678534
>Even if Root Double was only 70% funded and SP had to pump 30% into it, it's a minor loss when that 70% may or may not purchase the game if it was released,

That's a weird notion. Why am I willing to pledge on kickstarter but not buy on steam?
>>
>>14676718
Because on steam you already know that if you wait a few months instead of buying now you'll be able to get it cheaper on a sale.
>>
>>14678658
I see what you mean. Yes, it could be a way to secure full price preorders. I suppose the ultimatum (get it funded or else) would have been more convincing if it hadn't been such a quick turnaround
>>
>>14678639

1. Kickstarters are more notable than Steam releases for niche games, and, as I said prior, people would see the subsequent release despite the Kickstarter failing as attempted financial pilfering, and thus being far more likely to resort to piracy, or waiting for the game to be on sale.

2. Sales drive down the cost of the game. If that 70% wanted the game, they'll probably get it at reduced prices, which, on top of the 30% Steam cut (much higher than Kickstarter), means they can lose up to 40% of their profit instead of only 15% or whatever Kickstarter takes. Basically, not every one of that 70% would buy the game immediately, and plenty not at full price.

3. That 70% is 'locked-in'. It's a guaranteed 70% funding, whereas relying on Steam sales is a riskier ordeal and many or may not actually purchase the game, and will not purchase at the same time so the income is far more gradual. This also means there's fewer cashflow issues - SP themselves don't have to forward 135k to handle the game, but rather, only a couple dozen, which means they have money to spare for other projects and won't have to accrue additional debt.
>>
>>14678446
>SP will back it with their own money if need be.

Thought I would get some opinions on rewrite. Its got good reviews but I felt a lot of the common route was a waste of time. chiaya really tested my will power, what the fuck was that route. It was shounen shit tier and the pace was just awful. It took way to long for no reason other than being horribly written. There's like 70 people in the Vita tiers and a late 2017 release on the Vita isn't likely to sell that much. SP is basically doing this port out of desperation because they need this Kickstarter to succeed.

The point is that the Vita release was already planned and probably almost done like everything having to do with this VN. Otherwise, it would be a stretch goal rather than just tacked on for !FREE!

Since it was already planned and basically done, they're merely creating the perception of added value to the KS without losing any money by tacking it on to $99+ rewards, of which there is a severe minority of compared to the number of people who would actually buy it on the VIta.
