I took a chick I was dating home and she saw my two dolls at the time.

Most hobbies appear perfectly fine if you keep your home clean and hobby related items presentable. Even my otaku stuff looks fine when I cleaned my place up and bought a nice shelf for them.

I haven't made anything custom, most I've done is trim a wig a little and style it differently. I remember seeing some tips on customizing on the dollfie dream forum a long time ago. Last I've been there that site was reasonably sane and friendly, maybe it wouldn't hurt to check out that place. The guide I used when I was working on my girl's wigs was written by someone who posts there.

So I had four different outfits show up in the mail this week and this is the first opportunity I've had to play with my dollies in a while and I'm fretting over which outfits to try first and also over breaking up the matched sets my crew are wearing now.

Is this kind of like what wearing clothes as a female feels like? It is a new and strange set of emotions. For me normally choosing my day's clothing is "take the work shirt on the top of the pile".

It just occurred to me that I don't believe I've ever seen a doll with earrings before. Do they exist? I'd expect they're either painted on or stuck on. I get the feeling that they'd be pretty difficult to make look good.

I live in Alberta but I work nights and on my days off I just keep the same schedule. I have a hard enough time sleeping as it is that I don't need to mess it up bouncing back and forth from days to nights.

The Fairylands have more range of motion, but the Volks is MUCH more solid when posed. Volks dolls have amazing leg "strength" and great sit locks, they're rock solid when either standing straight up or sitting on a chair. The Feeple can barely stand if you balance her perfectly, and she sucks at sitting, but for photos and stuff she can do cooler poses. The Fairylands have better arms and necks, too.

I think the Volks is probably the one with better engineering and overall quality, but man, the FL just is so damn gorgeous. She's huge, too, which is kind of cool in my book.

Oh, also, the FLs can't really wear underwear if you want them to sit on something, they get caught in the hip joints.

My approach at this point is that I try to do as much prevention as I can but if a body part is stained then it can be treated or I can get a replacement part. Not disagreeing with you but I imagine they don't make all that many of these so the development cost has to be rolled into fewer dolls than if it was a release from a company with more resources and a bigger customer base.

I wonder if the head is made of vinyl or resin? Afaik the development cost of a vinyl production line is higher and more difficult than for resin which is why there are no DD recasts.

A blank Parabox head sells for about 2,000JPY. A pre-painted head sells for not much more. The 48cm body retails at 20,000JPY and I would assume there would be a wholesale price involved. Parabox is not that big a company and they can sell their own heads this cheaply.

There is no reason for the doll to cost 80k.

The eye colour doesn't match the character it's meant to be and it's not such an amazing sculpt that people will flock to it regardless of their knowledge of the source like Kanojo. She's a statistical outlier.

So I kind of wanted to get into this starting with one of the 23cm obitsu bodies/heads. Mostly because I wanted to try doing some faceups and not sink a shit ton of money into it yet.

I have a character in mind, but having a hard time deciding if I should buy a blank head with the hair already rooted in, or of i should buy a blank head and a wig? its definitely cheaper to buy the pre-rooted head, but I'm a little nervous cutting and styling it.
