My theory is that the Westermarck effect isn't as common as predicted; I never developed it for whatever reason.

Genetic similarity is attractive, as far as I understand. so if there was never an effect, close relatives would just fug all the time, with siblings possibly being the most common.

Parent/child is the closest relation, but there's a generational gap. I've seen a theory that fashion is an adaptation to keep similar ages attracted to one-another. The parent raising the child from birth gives them a different view of the child too, as well as social conditions that make the relationship less likely. Sibling is the closest genetic similarity after this, and usually, they'll be similar in age and becoming sexually curious within a few years of each other.
