SVDX could have made most of its songs keysounded. Playing a non-keysounded chart vs keysounded chart is less enjoyable

Why all the hate for Deep Roar? I genuinely liked that song.
>>
I've done it. I've cracked the code. I know now why people on YouTube and such seem so impossibly good.

They never actually play hard songs.

Nor even a single one, ever.

They stay way the fuck away from any actually challenging songs.

Never once do they take on a song with any amount of scratches. A scratch heavy 10 that has bullshit off-beat scratched is far harder than any stream heavy 12.

Good to know. Good to know the distance between me and them is a lot shorter than I thought it was.

The config tool hates my turntable on on my JKOC. It only detects that it moves on the Y axis, but it isn't able to detect in which direction when I set it under the analog tab. It only detects it as "Y" under the buttons tab as well. I know for sure that the turntable itself is sending Y+ and Y- (can confirm in another program), but the config tool just can't understand it. Any ideas?
>>
>>14344882
you aren't supposed to bind it analog, bind it to the turntable + and - in the buttons tab
>>
>>14344890
I tried that first but it only detects "Y" under the buttons tab, so it thinks I'm going in one direction only when I spin the turntable in either direction.
>>
>>14344890
>>14344893
Actually, I just realized that I only tried the +/- option before. I don't have the time to try it now but I'll try setting + and - individually later.
>>
>>14344893
that's what it's supposed to do
if you select one of the Ys and click edit you'll see they're actually bound to two different value ranges
>>
>>14344893
>>14344940
Yes, the axis direction is missing from the bindings.

Speaking of bindings, is it common to get 7th button detected as X when using USKOC? I read it was causing some trouble with some controllers when you operate turntable at the same time since it's bound to Y axis. So far I haven't noticed any weird behavior with this.

Is a sows invite/server the only way to get Pop'n Sunny Park to work these days? Is there not even a hacked offline mode? Don't even care about saving scores, just wanted to play a few of the new songs.
>>
>>14345097
I believe Sunny Park can work offline, it may give you an error saying it's not connected but I think it can be dismissed.
>>
>>14345124

I've heard of this working for some people and I've tried hitting every button and messing around with the Test Mode but nothing gets me past the network error (5-2000-0000). I've also read suggestions of disabling every network device, using a wired connection, nothing's biting so far.
>>

Infinite ass is still my bet on iidx the final.
>>
>>14345173
There's a thread for sows on AB's elite forum I believe, can't check because I was demoted after having a bunch of my torrents pruned.
>>
>>14345310
I doubt it, arcade games are one of the few things Konami still cares about since they can rehash them every year and pull in a decent amount of money.
>>
>>14345146

Scratch that, I've finally got it going - there was one network device/driver I forgot and disabling that got me a new 5-2002-2303 error. As you said from here you can bypass the error by bringing up Test and selecting Game Mode. Plays great!

Has anyone brought up the idea of having an official pastebin or something for these threads? I've found there are so few English resources for getting BEMANI games up and running, it would definitely help those starting out to have some readable instructions nearby.
>>
>>14345433
The sows wiki, sows forum, and sows IRC already exist.
>>
>>14345433
>Has anyone brought up the idea of having an official pastebin or something for these threads?
The problem is that arcade data shouldn't be available outside sows, so ideally anybody with it should have a sows account and could just post in the official threads on the forurms. I would support a pastebin talking about different rhythm games and how to get sims up and running however.
>>
>>14345444

Oh yeah, I don't mean a fuckload of download links or anything - just a similar 'introduction' style write-up tailored for /jp/. Sows is pretty locked down for the average user too so it would help those that aren't already knee-deep in the community aspects.

Could you be any more specific on what you did? Did you play it on VMWare? I've got an XP VM up and running but it's giving me literally the exact same libavs_win32.dll error. I have a hunch that it's unplayable on 64bit machines unfortunately.

alright I went with the 100g springs.
Also one more question, I've ordered from him before, but how do I edit an order? Just had second thoughts and want to change the color scheme of the thing, not sure if re-ordering would make 2 different orders or just edit the thing.
>>
>>14345919

Actually, thinking about it, I think I'm struggling so much because I'm missing the crack for 15 altogether - all I've got is the the base files from the big Taito Type X torrent (funnily enough the compiler admitted it was untested). From what I can gather I'm supposed to have a 20070604CR folder, a popn15_ahn.exe and god knows what else. Google tells me there was a crack zip by ahnada floating around years ago but I can't find a living copy for shit.

If anyone has one and would be willing to share I'd appreciate it greatly, of course.

What's going on with the greyed out songs in Sunny Park? I figured installing a new .dll would unlock them but it just inserted a bunch of new songs (which are mostly great to be fair). Am I right to assume they're DLC we can't get to?

you have to play the hyper chart to unlock the ex chart for some of the new sp songs, unlock dll doesn't fix it.

To add to this story, I tried Pop'n 15 on an old XP rig earlier and can confirm the exact same behavior.. Basically, don't bother with Gigapig's "Taito Type X" torrent as far as this game goes, it's either completely uncracked or otherwise unplayable.

I've been scouring the net for hours and I'm 90% sure there isn't a non-sows option for this one, just a bunch of completely dead links and torrents. No big loss, just wanted to play the Super Mario medley track, shit looks fun as fuck.

That's the frustration of IIDX, The difficulty walls are just so rough and they only get worse the better you get. Breaking into 12's is a big feat, then upper 12's is something a lot of players just never actually make it to.

They have been smoothing the curve from 10-11 and 11-12 in recent IIDX though with a lot of high difficulty 10's and 11's.

I'm installing LR2 for the first time. I downloaded two songs pretty much at random to see if I could get it working. The songs appear in the song list when LR2 starts. How do I actually start the song to play, though? I reconfigured the keys and have pressed all 7 keys + start/select and the scratchpad but it doesn't start.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. What is it?

In all seriousness I'm not sure. Pressing the white keys should do it. Try changing your skin or different songs.

I figured it out. I just did an "Easy" track. It was 7 key, but I don't think I could ever git gud at this game.

I've played Audiosurf, Rhythm Tengoku, Taiko, and Osu/EBA, but this is like a whole other level. I tried Pop'n Music when I lived in China and had a similar failure. I could sort of do easy songs on DJ MAX Portable, but that's about it.

Should I just give up?
>>
>>14353726
No, keep trying, i gave up after my first song too and decided to pick it back up a couple of days after, now i can clear 11s like it's nothing.
>>
>>14353726
Just keep practicing. You're going to suck, and you're going to suck for a while, but just keep at it. I've been playing for about 2 months and I'm just barely clearing some 7s. Download a bunch of songs from bms.bemaniso.ws and just keep playing easier songs until you start getting better. You can also try playing the 5key games since they work well in MAME.
>>
>>14353726
"easy" probably refers to the timing for the file, the actual difficulty is indicated by a number from 1-12 (or with stars for crazy hard stuff in lr2)
but really, don't give up. if you like rhythm games, bemani games are some of the most fun and rewarding to play after you get past the initial difficulty of using whatever input method/reading that many keys.
>>
>>14353726
I literally started playing IIDX about two weeks ago and I started with Pendual and I can barely clear 2s
It's going to be a long, hard, and rough road filled with blood and tears.
>>
>>14353888
and even once you start clearing 12s, if you ever try dp it'll be that feeling all over again
>>
>>14353888
It's okay, I started about two months ago myself. At 2 weeks, I was just finally getting used to the layout and found a comfortable position. You can do it anon, stay strong!
>>
>>14353921
Even if you're clearing 12s and have no interest in doubles it'll eventually lead to even more goals. Either a better score on songs, trying to get clear lamps, or moving onto insane charts.

Regardless of what you choose it'll only lead to despair.
>>
>>14353726
No don't give up

When I started this game I failed a 1 because I set the green number to 350 thinking that 350 was a pretty low number

My second time playing I failed a 1 because I couldn't figure out which button what which on the screen and I couldn't scratch because I was moving my hand towards the center of the turntable.

I passed a 3 after like 5 credits, but only barely.

It's a long road but it's a fun one, the keysounds a re really unique

In their defense they're just reselling their US batch. That's why it's free shipping. It's random what you'll get honestly. With the fp7 at least you can kinda tell what you're getting because the price is constantly changing.

fun and much easier imo. the turntable was a massive learning curve for me and i found myself progressing much faster in pop'n than i did in iidx.

I would like pop'n more if it wasn't chain-linked with loading screens, had offset options, and didn't have a billion and one folders to navigate through to get to anything and a Bemani folder which purposefully excludes beatmania, Keyboardmania, etc. crossovers. The UI is such a pain in the ass to deal with, which is why I play IIDX a billion times more often.

So does anybody know what HD* mode is yet? I gave it a shot and not much seemed different other than my offset shot way into the positives.

Doesn't HD* cause the output resolution to be different in order to deal with a certain monitor type in newer arcade machines.

Are these the correct buttons for IIDX? I saw it recommended by several people but don't they have any LEDs?
Also if I reading it right, these already come with 100g Omrons?

I'm a new IIDX player, been using LR2 for 10 days now. I just started playing 7s today (A or AAd every Lincle 7 and just started on Empress). I haven't read a lot about this game yet and I'm not part of any of the invite communities, so I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is good progress. All my scores have been on normal judge if it's relevant.
>>
>>14357248
>10 days
>you're on 7s

fast
>>
>>14357248
Are you using a controller? of so, that's some great progress, if not, it's meh.
>>
>>14357256
Keyboard. Cherry MX Browns. Why is it different whether I'm using keyboard or controller? I thought that controller was generally considered easier.
>>
>>14357302
depending on how you're positioning your hands on the keyboard, it could be easier or harder, i guess. it's definitely harder to play with a controller instead of keyboard if you're using sdf jkl or some other straight line layout. scratch-heavy songs are a lot harder with a turntable instead of just a key, too.
>>
>>14357302
A IIDX controller layout is harder to get used to even if you used a similar layout on a keyboard, since you still need to get used to scratching.
>>
>>14357330
I'm using shift s d f space j k l. The only other VSRG I've played is 4key osu!mania. I think jhlee and abcdullah use somewhat similar layouts (maybe 1 key different). And I believe rustbell is using this exactly. It makes sense to me. I read a post somewhere on different styles and had no idea why someone would want to play AEXF style. It looks like it limits your gameplay. I was also thinking the same thing though that a key for scratch would be easier than a turntable. And I also know the jhlee and abcd are the best, so I find it odd that people say controller is better when they are both keyboard players.
>>
>>14357339
for iidx specifically, controller is better only on the virtue that it was never meant to be played with anything but that, so it can't really be equated to whatever is supposed to be the best way to play osumania. there are lots of high level lr2 players that play kb only with layouts like that (maybe even some bms files made specifically for keyboard?) so there's no need to introduce artificial challenge by using a playstyle that mimics a iidx controller if you're not concerned about how your skill would transfer over if you were ever to buy one, so just use whatever style is most comfortable, i guess, i think the style you're using now is one you can't really go wrong with. as long as you're not using zsxdcfv or something dumb like that.
>>
>>14357359
Yeah, I'll probably switch to controller some day. I'll be able to move to japan in 3-3.5 years so I'd like to play in arcades once I'm there. So ideally I should learn to use controller before then. But at this time I'm still in college so it's pretty expensive for me. For the time being my state doesn't even have one IIDX machine, so I don't have to worry about it yet. I think the hardest part of this game is the reading, getting used to a controller shouldn't take more than a week or two imo.
>>
>>14357339
ABCD plays (more like played, he doesn't do BMS anymore) S D F SPACE COMMA O P and Left Bracket for Scratch. jhlee0133 and rustbell both use the regular o2jam style with Semi-color and A as scratch.
>>
>>14357375
It's definitely easier than reading the old 5k beatmania games, i can't play them even on keyboard.
>>
I'm the same guy who has been playing 10 days on LR2. So far I like it, but I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue when they alt+tab out of LR2 then go back in it crashes every time without fail. I'm using windows 8.1. I haven't found any one else online having the same issue, so I was wondering if any one else did and was able to fix it? I play at the default 640x480 fullscreen and don't have LR2HD or anything like that.
>>
>>14357414
Yes, it's not possible to alt + tab on LR2, your only option is running on windowed mode
>>
>>14351226
LR2 with light pop ex skin
>>
>>14357417
Huh, that's unfortunate considering that windows 8.1 and 10 desktops have vsync that you can't disable, adding a lot of input lag. Maybe a better BMS player will come along, or Infinitas won't cost too much to play regularly. We'll see.
>>
>>14357468
You'll be able to purchase Infinitas for unlimited play for free
>>
Everyone post the generally agree'd upon hardest chart in the main game that they play
>>
>>14357520

>>
>>14357468
I am very sensitive to input lag and I have never noticed windowed modes causing any input lag for me (Nvidia GPUs, Windows 7/8.x/10 and 120hz), but I can still detect if the games itself use vsync.
