I just watched Hana to Alice Satsujin Jiken, and man, it's just fantastic. Much better than the original Hana to Alice I'd say, though sure, not as good as Iwai's best movie, Lily Chou Chou.

What good jap movies have you watched lately, jaypee?
Sakakibara Seito (Moto Shounen A)'s Zekka The Movie
Shit was so edgy, I hope he dies in a fire.

>I did not like Lily Chou Chou.
Why?
I think it's the best exploration of bullying I've seen in my entire life. Great pacing too.
lol oh shit, i just finished watching this too. I read people complaining about the character animations and how the backgrounds are better quality. I didn't have an issue with this, the animation was very fluent and more human thus making it enjoyable. As for the story itself, I thought it was watchable but nothing memorable.

I liked the animation. It's a better rotoscoping than the one used in a A Scanner Darkly or Waking Life, in any case. Much better than the one in Aku no Hana (except the climatic scenes).
Speaking of rotoscoping... and well, it's an animu instead of a movie, but I think they're rotoscopic a bunch of scenes in the currently airing Lupin, and they look fantastic. If they aren't rotoscoped, they must've hired wizards as animators or something.
As for Hana to Alice Satsujin Jiken's story... I'd say it's much more memorable than the story in Hana to Alice. Some scenes really left an impression with me too, like when Alice is hanging out with that old dude in the park, or when the girls are trying to find a car to sleep under.
I'm not sure if I liked the movie or the manga better. The manga is, well, a Dowman Sayman manga, so that needs no explanation, but I really loved the movie.
because the characters and their relation between them isn't interesting at all
I end up not caring about them

Dude. They're alienated middle-schoolers.
They're supposed to have flimsy relationships. That gives easier foot to the bullying angle.

my favourite jap movies:
Ohayô (1959) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053134/ - super comfy and feel good, loved every second of it.
Always san-chôme no yûhi (2005) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488870/ - i don't give out 10/10s easily, only a dozen movies i ever rated, this is one of them.
Bijitâ Q (2001) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290329/ - brilliant movie.
Rubber's Lover (1996) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0227408/ - mayhaps too arty for some plebeians, but give it a try. better then the so called prequel.
Dead or Alive: Final (2002) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0301167/ - super fun, but check out the whole trilogy.
Gakidama (1985) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0225831/ - <3333333333333 gritty 80s OVA feel, since it's exactly that lol.
