Probably child size head at a giant scale. Then add the deformed body and throw in the small cute details.
meant to post this in the roll thread
but like most things in the past, it is gone now
Aside from the sameface, you have some serious anatomical issues to deal with. Leg to torso-ratio, head-placement, stance... Pretty much everything. It's a nice concept though, so keep the practice u.
Something about her head is really putting me off. Or his?
But nice and plump otherwise.
Pretty great dude, love the facial expression especially.
The Touhou-Album turned into a two-man-project. So far I got two songs pretty much drafted out and two more in the making.
Still looking for test-listeners, so if anyone here is interested and wants to help, please contact me.
This method seems legit, but I'm still bothered by how to place heads when there's no neck.
Also it feels like drawing someone in a kigsuit.
Are those cans of beer, cans of beryllium, or cans of bromine?
I've been working on and off on a metal arrange of Freudia Battle from Rosenkreuzstilette since 2009. The song structure's pretty much done, I just have to record it. Link to the MIDI is below, feedback would be appreciated.
The composition is complex and diverse, I guess, but...
Honestly, the first half is almost unbearable to listen to without being annoyed or unnerved by the sound of it.
you placed notes that are adjacent on the scale in a chord and that only sounds good or interesting in some places, not if it's a constant thing in the overall song. Complexity is good and all, but you need to write with harmony in mind. If it doesn't sound good, people won't care for how complex it is.
Around the 106th bar/beat though, it gets pretty interesting and nice. It starts off slowly with a melancholic melody and progresses into a fine bridge into the next part, in my opinion this could even be the songs end without regrets.
At the 154th beat, it get's a bit annoying again, and at the 166th beat, everything is back to its terrible sounding pace...
To sum it up, you should change your musical priorities. Instead of focusing on what's complex and diverse, shift your focus to what sounds good and then apply complexity and diversity TO IT.
It has an interesting pattern in terms of songstructure, not unseen, but also not overdone, so I recommend changing the said parts a little up to the point the sound good enough.
This is just my opinion though. If you like what you did yourself, then keep it up - But I really recommend you listen to my advice, even if just for my own hearing pleasure.
For something you worked six years on, I find this lacking in all kinds of places. Don't let this get you down though. You seem to have the knowledge and skills to improve on it.
really nice, but i'm kinda disturbed about the height of the hair, if that's what you call it
try lowering it down a little and it should be alright
though, how do you manage drawing young girls? i've been having trouble going into the lower-age range
>but i'm kinda disturbed about the height of the hair
If you watch Nobuna No Yabou enough you might get used to it. Everything above the eyes is set to be quite tall, but it *can* be considered passable.
What do you mean by "sounding good" though? Could you give specific examples of what does and doesn't sound good, what's wrong about the pace, etc? Is it because it's in a Swedish Death Metal style to begin with?
No, that really doesn't have anything to do with it, since I am a huge fan of Death Metal of all origins.
What I mean by "sounding good" is sounds or notes that harmonize with each other and are comfortable to listen to. For example, using a C and C# to form a chord only works in specific situations, but you chose to conceptualize that kind of pattern throughout the whole song, which in my opinion was a bad choice.
Of course it all depends on how you are going to arrange it. There are ways to make it sound great - again, I wouldn't recommend doing it throughout the whole composition - but I would have to actually listen to the finished song to jugde that. Maybe I just get the wrong idea from what I listenend to so far. But it looks to me like you disregard the use of scales in your work.
Oh, like dissonance? I wasn't aware there were so many parts like that. Is it dissonance in between all the instruments that's the problem, or that in individual parts? To be honest, I don't really look for scales or anything, I just do what "sounds good" to me and I usually get positive feedback from the results. This is pretty helpful though.
Dissonance is probably the right word to phrase it, yes.
Although I am not sure about it, since that as well is something I occasionally find me enjoying.
The problem I had that it was going on pretty much throughout the whole song, at least in what I suppose will be the rhythm guitar.
Will you be arranging the song sometime soon? So I know what exactly you had in mind.
Really? The interpretation is kinda loose sometimes to fit the genre, but most of the parts are quoted from the song.
What do you mean by arrangement? I thought that's what it was, at least by the doujin music definition.
i-is that cum on her skirt?
Haven't sketched in ahwile. Every time I wait awhile to do it again it takes me ages to draw just the face and hair.
Reality crashes back down like a tonne of bricks.
Where do you guys put your tablet when doing digitals? Next to the keyboard? Just below the keyboard? On your lap?
Right in front of me, keyboard to the side. Keyboard is supposed to go behind tablet but my desk and monitor support are shit.
I also had to get a keyboard without numpad because it is easier to reach.

*I also hate when my pc autoflips photos.
Not for the area in the image. It looks like you're about to descend into some cave. Music sounds more like some near the surface tune. It's okay as music for the game concept in general. Maybe even title screen music.
Not the fastest anymore
I just put it on my lap, like I would for a sketchbook.
/c/-tan is presenting /jp/-tan to /pol/-tan in a "well, what do you think" gesture.
/pol/-tan hugs the crap out of /jp/-tan saying "honorary Aryans" much to /c/-tan's surprise/delight.
That's like saying real people shouldn't be allowed to have snaggleteeth. It still looks dumb, but it's not like it doesn't happen.
Also vampires and kemono-mimi are the best kinds of anime girls.
I'm up to page 29 of my OC comic /jp. Maybe I'll finish this project this time.
took a while to finish this. Let's see if you guy can find the hidden stuff in the drawing. Enjoy.
The monster looks like it's perfectly capable of speaking English but only ever says "Wurgle" to make people uncomfortable.
I really like how all your drawings look so warm and cute. Thank you for drawing.
I did an Aya today because I listened to
and it convered me to Aya. Thanks MS paint + mouse! Might update it tomorrow.
WIP add ahegao cuz horny
in my waifu's mini tight skirt
H-Help me color my loli, /jp/!
But seriously, I can't seem to get into color combinations without turning stuff monochromatic.
your colours are overall too light, dont shy away from some darker colours. your shadows are also too close to the base colour, makes it feel flat. if you want to be lazy you can slap an overlay filter on it (dont overdo it though). i'd suggest not saving binary-lined pictures as jpg, you get nasty artifacts.
as for picking colours, learn some colour theory and do studies.
And I did an Okuu. Forgot her shoes because of Reitaisai and 20th 2hu anniversary.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
I don't really know what to tell you, I bend a lot of rules a lot of the time to just do what I think looks nice.
That's pretty good!
And, I'm almost done with this Eiki Shiki.
Glad you liked it! I can feel myself getting more precise and timely. Going to post a quickie I did in a moment. I just use MS paint and my mouse.
I remember someone asking for the /jp/ Music Compilation Two some threads back. Just remembered today, but I finally got to it. I put it straight into its dropbox so it can stay online indefinitely.
Just an easygoing background-type music with a bit of melancholic tinge, that slowly builds up to a lightly dramatic climax.
Oh, and also, this was my go at making music without using percussion instruments.
Pick some old cartoon with cute girls and make stupid, violent comics vaguely about them. Nanoha, Hidamari, and Lucky Star are probably good choices. When you run out of ideas, put together a bunch of blank black pages and blank white pages, and intersperse them with a few scribbles of stuff you saw in Nihei comics. Once you get tired of doing that, go back to working on your good silly comics.
wish I could post more.
really haven't been productive recently
I did an Orin. Almost done with it.
Finally came around to finishing a piece that's probably a couple of years old:
There's a lot more like it, I'll get around to them someday... maybe.
I've never really tried BGs. But I did a Sanae today.
At least the landscapes have subjects now...
Try to challenge yourself a little more with the poses and expressions that will make a huge difference with the average pixiv, etc artist.
Also when you're drawing something wrong, don't delete it. Draw it immediately again and fix it, that way you will properly understand what you did wrong and won't do it again.
Hey guys, I'm no artist but I'm looking for a picture that was posted here a really long time ago. I think it was the OP pic of the 100th~ /jp/ original/drawthread. It's a really well drawn and colorful pic of Marisa, that's all I can remember. I think there are some orange stuff in the background, perhaps pumpkins. Thanks in advance~
Probably still here.
here's a quick-a-roo sketch
amassing all those sketches into one big one takes too long and makes me look like a hermity jerkface
how can I help?
i am never disappeared
i am here in you're hearts
Lately when looking at my own drawings, I feel more disgusted than disappointed. I can't point out anything specific, everything just looks horrible and I don't know how to fix it.
So how does one go about changing their whole style?
Or did I just accidentally level up from a doodler to an artist..
who is the best artist to learn from if youre drawing moe?
One more spaceship image before I go back to being useless.
Hi /jp/. I'm the anon from a thread or two ago that started to write some stuff with magic and guns and war and magical girls and autism and politics. I've laid out an overview of the settings. Below is a small excerpt, and the rest is in this pastebin:
It is the Industrial Age, where magic and science have allowed Civilization to reach untold heights.
Magic, once reserved for the elite, has become more accessible for more and more people. With the creation of Magic Refineries - factories dedicated to mass producing useable magic stones, magic has found use in a person's daily life. On the other hand, the use of magic in warfare also reached a fevered pitch.
The invention of the combustion engine has revolutionized transport, allowing the travel of vast distances with unprecedented speed, and the greater expansion of empires.
With the discovery of electricity, the modern person's life has transformed unrecognizably. New machines such as the telephone, radio and television came to the fore of communication and entertainment.
Events begin in the first day of Spring, of the Year 1932. After the collapse of the Arian Empire and the subsequent land-grab, the world finds itself in a relative calm as armies are forced to a defensive stalemate, in the later years of the domination of magic and gunpowder of the battlefield which has rendered attacking even a slightly fortified position an act of folly.
In secret, however, newer and more terrifying weapons are now being developed, using the combined might of magic, science and industry, to break this uneasy peace. At the same time, intrigues and machinations form in the shadows, awaiting the perfect chance to reveal themselves.
good job /jp!
keep at it. I'm still doing my stuff too
At the moment, I am hashing out the background and the general mechanics of the world, as well as fleshing out the various actors in the world. Below, I will post a summary of a very important aspect of the story - the mechanics of "Magic". The full texts can be read here:
A Primer On Magic - http://pastebin.com/eEZ1es6x
Advanced Topics On Modern Magic - http://pastebin.com/LNaaFYLx
If there is a specific topic you'd like to read about, do let me know. I've actually written a whole lot more, including stuff about certain groups, events, and even one (which I'm still being autistic about) on politics. But for now, I'm trying to introduce the most fundamental concepts first so people won't get confused later on.
Magic, as the term will be used very often, refers to two different things depending on the context: First, it refers to the energy inherent in some special stones. Secondly, it is also used to refer to the learned ability of humans to manipulate this energy and create real-world effects.
Almost any human can use magic to some extent, or at least, has the potential to do so. However, the most effective and most modern spells usually require skill and talent to use, so, for a long time, Magic was reserved for the educated and wealthy elite.
Magic is a naturally occurring energy found in special stones known as Magic Stones. There stones are usually mined or quarried, and it seems to be a replenishing resource - as magic is used - it returns to the world to be recovered again.
There are 5 known disciplines of magic. Four of them are grouped into a category called "Formal Craft". Formal Craft, Red, Blue, Green and White magic, is what is referred to as "conventional" magic. The last, Black magic, is most commonly referred to as Witch Craft, and is regarded as abominable, dangerous and inhuman.
A. Formal Craft
1. Red Magic
This discipline covers all spells that ultimately convert magical energy into light or heat. These kinds of spells find most use in military applications, but some are useful in industry, specifically in producing electricity.
Examples of Red Magic are Beam Projection spells, and Thermal Conversion spells.
2. Blue Magic
This discipline covers spells that use a fundamental technique of "solidifying" magical energy, i.e. converting it into force. Spells in the blue discipline find most of their uses applied in self-defense, such as barriers, but some are also useful in industry and engineering.
Examples of Blue Magic include spells of: Barrier Craft, Force Projection, Pinpoint Defense, and Magic Platform.
3. Green Magic
This discipline covers a wide range of spells that affect the functions and structure of a living body. They are typically spells that improve the physical and mental ability of humans, and those that degrade them.
Green Magic discipline includes Augmentation spells, Mind Clocking spells, a wide variety of spells that attack or enhance a person's magic capacity and, finally, Magic Coating.
4. White Magic
This discipline manipulates magical energy itself. White magic is usually used in magic reclamation, restoring a person's damaged magic capacity and in logistics.
White magic typically covered a range of supporting spells, like Restoration, Magic Battery, Magic Transfer, and so on, but recent, failed, research in Royal Azalea suggests that White magic may hold a hidden destructive potential, possibly surpassing that which is possible with Red Magic.
B. Witch Craft/Black Magic
Considered an illegal discipline of magic to study, Black magic revolves around the relatively new concept of absorbing and storing magic directly in a person's body, effectively creating a living Magic Battery.
The processes involved in doing this, however, are incredibly dangerous and unimaginably cruel. The end result is also mostly a failure, killing the subject.
Furthermore, in the process of doing this, which involves "ripping out" a person's magic capacity, a person who does succeed in becoming a "Witch", as the end product of this process is called, cannot any longer tap into the magic from magic stones, as they are lacking any magic capacity. Instead, they need to transfer magic into their own body directly from others, a process that tends to damage the magic capacity of the victim, as well as causing physical harm.
Finally, there is a wholly different field of magic, under Black Magic, which they have sole and exclusive access. These spells are also unlike others in that, unlike any other spell, which, after casting, leaves residual magic that either returns to the world or it can be reclaimed and placed into Magic Batteries, Black Magic transforms magical energy into a new material - physical materials of varying kinds, which allows unnatural spells that, for example, create firestorms, shoot bits of glass, and even produce living monsters and give life to inanimate objects. This means that the magic is forever lost and cannot be reclaimed.
I've drawn Marisa a lot but what you're describing doesn't sound like something I've drawn.
this is the only thing i can think of: https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1305642?tags=magister_%28medical_whiskey%29+kirisame_marisa
are you posting the rest of this anywhere?
i really like seeing your landscapes again! they seem much more vibrant now
I tried the other day, /jp/. So.. which is your favourite Rembrandt?
I really need to try to improve my lineart.
I'm rather boring so I'd say the night watch but it is a nice image. I like the folds in the clothing and detail on the carrion.
Hey artists/writers, you guys wanna start a skype? Seems like we're mostly working towards the same stuff
Thanks man, was looking for something just like this
fight scenes are hard to learn to draw if you have no references
fuck you're amazing WY
tbh more of a romanticism/hudson river school faggot (or hell even mead schaeffer's cool)
if had to choose prob storm on the sea of galilee
couldnt appreciate rembrandt its like he's got contrast set to +50
side note, any idea what's that painting where the dad murders his son and starts mourning? might've been done by some german dude
Do you mean you were looking for a sort of fantasy/ww1/2 warfare setting? If so you may be in for a treat.
I don't know how often I can go on Skype, but I'm definitely in this thread much more often.
Great news for you.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bravecadet/i-draw-manga-sketchbook-and-reference-guide/ Although, I'm still getting some Western style vibes. But what what the hell do I know. I can't draw either.
I imagined it more as a loli Rembrandt doing the painting. But if that's your interpretation then fine.
Hudson river school? Good taste. I'm not sure if this qualifies as that, but pic related is one of my favourites. I agree with you with rembrandt's contrasts. He's not my absolute favourite in that regard.
You're right, it's Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan.
Sorry, I haven't been able to make anything without feeling like I'm a piece of shit recently. Phenomics is basically dead unless I find a vocalist, and it's so difficult when I don't like leaving my house.
>meant like more contemporary/logical magic (but magical nazi battlions? neatt)
Ah, yes that too. You'll be hearing a lot more of it and all the crazy things a developed military-industrial complex can do with it.
I still think you need more moody music like mine instead of regular music. The game you are making is awesome, but it needs music to set the mood, I'm not saying mine is correct, but it needs something to make the player feel like they're actually there instead of just jamming to the music.
What is her facial expression and body language trying to convey? Explain it to me like I am a 12 year old. Also, the location of her right arm looks so awkward/painful.
Seriously, what is that baka trying to tell us?
>What is her facial expression and body language trying to convey? Explain it to me like I am a 12 year old.
I also do not know. Maybe contemplating the wonders of lambda calculus.
>Also, the location of her right arm looks so awkward/painful.
Thank you, I found out too late. Does it look passing at least? I tried to make it as leaning against wall out of the image. Is the problem because the arm is raised too high, placement of the hand, or something else? I will be grateful for your helping me better understand.
Depending on how you meant the pose to be, there can be two reasons why the image looks weird.
1) Her right arm looks as if her elbow should be located precisely at the very edge of the image. If this is not what you meant to do, then that is your problem - that arm is too long.
2) If you intended the elbow to be positioned at the edge, then her forearm is missing, or it is mispositioned.
Fuck. Forgot my pic, silly me!
To the anon artist who emailed me his work, I'm really sorry for not replying in a timely fashion, but in the off-chance that you might be here, I'll just say that I'm satisfied with the design you sent for the Album Cover and we should keep in touch through mail to discuss it further!
/jp/sies I want to try making a comic
I wanted to try a 4 koma but I'm not sure I can follow the story format. It seems hard to come up with things that end in 4 panels
3. TURNING POINT
4. CONCLUSION !
Anyone know where I can find a replacement Intuos pen that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Mine's broken.
Reminds me of anime from 世界名作劇場 , probably because she looks like a character from one of those kinds of books.
Actually staring at it for a while, it looks like Ranma. Is that Ranma?
It's not a casual dress, it's a school uniform.
nope, i have the autism
here have some more.
i'm totally not a robot, though
Thank you, I think I'm gonna have to give in and just get one from the official store.
It's not supposed to be Ranma, but I see what you mean.
Sorry, I went to bed. I'll be your friend!
Please don't kill me
I bought a G-pen, paper and ink
I'm gonna do it /jp/, I'll make my own weeb comic
I know this sounds awfully beginner like because we all know it's the artist and not the tool etc. but what program and what brushes do you use? I really dig the general aesthetic. The image in this post actually does not really invoke this aesthetic to me, which is interesting.
My doodles look better than things I put effort into
That's pretty cheeky.
Nice homu, I hope you keep it in the composition..
This reminds me, I need to check out all the CucumberQ comics I missed.
Does she look okay as far as a sketch is concerned? It's for an animation exercise but she won't be the one animated and will remain in this pose, and not being the central point of the scene, I won't try to lineart her or anything.
Added in some shadows just to try and give the scene some volume. Anything eye-popping to fix?
Better? Thanks for the input.
It would be easy to just say everything but I would suggest reading more into perspective and anatomy.
I'd prefer if you told me exactly what's wrong with it so I can try and fix it right now, please. I'm not an artist as you can see, so I don't plan to draw past this either way.
This is literally eye-candy for another 30 frames of animation of an assignment, so the more I can fool people into thinking I'm actually competent with a pen on a static image, the better.
It's an assignment to animate a 'rock' falling for fifteen frames, with a piece of paper floating down next to it for 30 frames. You have to put your creative twist on it which is where she comes in, but you can literally draw a single frame of the 'rock', then take it to photoshop and rotate it around until it hits the ground. Drawing the sheet of paper should be relative straightforward too.
Not really something you have to be an artist to do. It's not an art class, just an animation class teaching you the basics. I've already had a pretty disastrous six months of "art" before this.
As I said, read more into perspective and anatomy. You don't even have to read a whole book. Even small tutorials would help you. To make it easier on yourself, I would suggest to omit her high heels.
Bloody hell... fine. I guess this wouldn't be the last drawing I would have to make anyway. I'm really not comfortable making these things.
One last judge though? I figured from >>14304084 's post that the ground was completely wrong, so I remade it, made the right shoulder a bit larger and ironed out the chicken scratch on the arms. As for omitting the heels though, no can do, the ground has to be visible for the rock to hit it and I cannot draw feet for the life of me (if you could not already tell from the hands). If it looks bad, I'll just have to deal with it for now.
Either way, thanks for the suggestion, and I'll stop bothering you gents since I might throw the thread into autosage by myself at this point with this shitty drawing.
It is hard to draw dick rocks in the ocean and clouds.
Holy shit /jp/
some of you can't even seem to draw faces
Here, translated one of toshi's tutorials
(great starting point, he does a TON of tutorials, you can get the gist of most of them since they're mostly pictorial);
now stop wasting time here and go practice
Mokou mini. 1 inch base. Mainly just painted over an existing sorceress mini that came with Reaper Miniatures Bones 2 kickstarter.
Made the bowtie from greenstuff. Never again. What a pain.
I guess I can appreciate you fixing up the arm but I feel like you're nitpicking about the face since it was just one eye being more open than the other like pic related. I'm grateful for the criticism but saying I can't draw and trying to prove with a guy who draws ugly faces is a little insulting.
>tfw I draw the guideline axis because it looks cool without any clue how to utilise them
For the weeb style you generally want the lowest part of the eyebrows to line up with the horizontal line. Right below that the nose starts going down the vertical line, as well as the rarely drawn eyelid, then those big ass eyes start right below the eyelid, and generally end at the same height as the top of the nostrils, or higher if you're making a very small nose or a more realistic face. The bottom of the vertical line is the point of the chin, you generally want the mouth to be an equal distance between the chin and the nose, although you could just end the vertical line in the middle of the mouth and draw the chin by feeling how far down it should go. For a more realistic face the chin would probably be a little shorter, and the middle of the mouth would be just barely closer to the nose. For a face like the picture you posted the top of the eyelid would be where the horizontal line is and the nose line would start at that height as well. The brows would have enough space between the eyelash and the brow for a another whole eye to fit, and the cranium would be particularly bulbous to allow for more hair. Also in that pic the mouth needs to be slightly lowered, if you raised the mouth any higher she would look retarded. Also her mouth is just barely too far left to actually be accurate, but that's normal for this style. Pic related, the relaxed mouth shown at first here has the "identifying lines" so to speak way off center, but when she smiles it becomes a lot more accurate of a portayal because the mouth stretches out to her eyes. It looks distorted because her face is distorted in the first place, but no one cares about all of that bullshit so long as it's cute and expressive. If the mouth was smaller to make it look less distorted and actually drawn directly under the nose in the relaxed pose I think I would actually like it more, but it seems like no one agrees with me on that.
it just kinda stuck out to me from the thumbnail
also I apologize if came off as harsh
it's just frustrating to see all these beginners here and not a single reply pointing them in the right direction to improve
Don't really have the time to translate all; but if you had a specific one in mind I'll try
I wouldn't call myself a beginner but anatomy is something I should focus more on. I just wanted to draw a burg.
completed version of >>14280736
having trouble with colouring anything non-living, anything i could do to improve them?
http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=367529 That's flattering but I'm not, haha. I draw cute normal stuff vs /d/-sized boobs/porn on a 30:70ish ratio though, fair warning.
I do almost everything in SAI.
You wanna post a quick tutorial or somethin', dude?
Draw my waifu for NSFW stream
Thank you, I will try to draw more pose and expression. I never delete my drawing (not that I can recall), I like to let the mistake stay so I can get better. I am personally just not a big fan of redrawing or fix my stuff unless I rly messed up. But I will try to take your advice, Thank you and I appreciate it.
