i guess just living and working there having normal interactions with people should be enought to get fluent in a year
a found i particulary interesting and helpful was reading old language learning books (from the 60s for example)
reading the newspaper with a dictionary should also improve drastically your lexicon and you can pretty much find a newspaper everywhere in cafes around the city
radios you could listen to are radio deejay and radio105 but i do not like them too much
id recommend you more finding an italian youtube guy and trying to understand his pronounciation and what he is saying maybe activating subtitles (https://www.youtube.com/user/breakingitaly)

I kind of have an issue with newspapers/news channels just because of the language they use. Most would probably use very formal wording, and that's not exactly what I'm interested in. Granted I shouldn't be picky, but I'd rather not talk like a weatherman. Casual radio stations probably aren't like that.
