Thing is, you don't use full auto for suppression either unless you have a light machine gun with a belt and hopefully a quick change barrel. You want your suppression to be controlled, accurate, and sustained - none of which you can effectively accomplish with an assault rifle and 30rd magazines.

The only scenario I can think of where you'd want to use full auto is when you need to get a momentary fire superiority to haul ass, so likely if you're a small squad under enemy ambush.

Example: first guy dumps 30rds, peel - 2nd dumps 30rds, peel - 3rd dumps 30rds and so forth until you're far enough away to figure out your next move.
