The only mythological myth we had as a country (and not the celtic/pre-celtic tribes that lived around here) were the sea monsters, which were sort of believed to exist circa 1400 right before the discoveries.
One in particular was called Adamastor, who was a giant golem torso at the end of cape torments (renamed to cape good hope by us), that killed every ship we sent there for a while.

>Adamastor
sounds metal as fuck
>>79414642
If he's a torso how does he hurt anything since he doesn't have arms or legs or a head?
We had Baba Yaga that atr children alive and her hut was on single chickens leg

He has head and arms, just no legs. Or I guess the very earth are his legs.
Although that varies from artist. Some did draw/describe him with legs. It's not so much a myth as it was the summary of the legends of the time. I don't think people at the time believed in him, but there was still fear as to what lied at what was thought to be the end of the world, and they personified it into Adamastor.

You mean the name? Sounds like a regular person name to me, even if it doesn't exist, but I guess I can see how it sounds to foreigners.
