Do Japanese people see the occupation of Japan as an overall good thing?

It led to your country becoming a practical economic superpower.
>>
>>79391264
Japan was more powerful before ww2 2bh
>>
>>79391274
Yeah, but that's primarily because Japan has been blocked from growing a military by the self-defense article.

And even if Japan was more powerful, they couldn't hold a flame to the U.S. So is that really power?

what? are you stupid?

i wouldn't go so far as to say it was very good, but yeah by and large it wasn't that bad especially considering the bad blood between japan and america during the war. economy-wise, it's true that japan made the best of the situation to become a top-notch economic power, though there was also a possibility of imperial japan doing similar things through moderate reforms, keeping way larger territories and its own economic sphere (and in that case, japan would have been way more powerful). so i can't determine which was really better 2bh.
>>
>>79391264
You say that now but the depression in the 1980s hit them like a fucking truck. It was not pretty.
>>
>>79391274
So powerful that their elite army the kwangtung army was defeated in 3 weeks.
>>
Before WW2, Manchu had worked as a wall to block communism from Russia.
After WW2, Manchu was lost.
Then Communists took China. The Korean war happened. The Vietnam war happened.
Japan and America had to take more carefully with Manchu before WW2.
>>
>>79393678
It's after the atomic bombings.
Japan and Soviet had the Nuetrality Pact at that time.
So Japan didn't think Soviet would attack to Japan.
>>
>>79391264
Definitely better than Imperial Japan.

Even some Japs don't know that Japan and the US were good friends until the 30's btw.
Burgers helped the westernization of Japan and taught Japs how to play baseball before the ww1. Brits taught Japs how to play soccer at about the same time, but Japs preferred baseball probably because both the US and Japan had an inferior complex toward the UK, so they treated Japs more kindly.

I mean there's a long story that people tend to forget.

kwantung army was mere shadow of its former self when russia attacked manchuria

>However, the Kwantung Army was far below authorized strength; most of its heavy equipment and all of its best military units had been transferred to the Pacific Theater over the previous three years to contend with the advance of American forces. They were also deployed against the Nationalist Chinese in Operation Ichigo. By 1945, the Kwantung Army contained a large number of raw recruits and conscripts, with generally obsolete, light, or otherwise limited equipment. Almost all of the tanks were early 1930s models such as the Type 95 Ha-Go and Type 89 I-Go, the anti-tank units only possessed Type 1 37 mm Anti-Tank Guns that were ineffective against Soviet armor, and the infantry had very few machine guns and no anti-materiel rifles or submachine guns. As a result, the Japanese forces in Manchuria and Korea had essentially been reduced to a light infantry counter-insurgency force with limited mobility or ability to fight a conventional land war against a coordinated enemy. In fact, only six of the Kwantung Army's divisions existed prior to January 1945. Accordingly, the Japanese considered none of the Kwantung Army's units to be combat ready, with some units being declared less than 15% ready.[18]

The kwantung army also lost the soviet japanese border war in 1939. When they were in full strength.

nope, the border conflict also happened during the second sino-japanese war, to which japan committed the majority of forces at that point, and the government kept the army from advancing at khalkhin-gol so they don't create a two front war; you see, what's the point of sticking to an irrelevant disputed border when you are conquering a large swath of chinese continent?

essentially, russia has never engaged a japanese armed force in full strength except for the russo-japanese war, which everybody knows turned out like ;^)

People tend to be good friends no mater who they are, it's the nations that slit each other's throats.

You got dragged into the hopeless war with the US because the US was trying to turn China into a colony at the same time as you did.
Then the backstabbing when it turned out you were getting a bit too good economically and they started fearing you might overtake them.
US viewed the Japanese economic prosperity as a mistake brought about by the Korean War (which necessitated using Japan as a beachhead, no ifs or buts about it), they were and still are content making sure no one in Asia overtakes them, allies and enemies alike.

It's geopolitics. Doesn't make the average burger (including those stationed in Japan) any more or less of a bad person than they really are.

I'm not sure about that
>US viewed the Japanese economic prosperity as a mistake brought about by the Korean War
more like a typical korean view, I guess
>Doesn't make the average burger (including those stationed in Japan) any more or less of a bad person than they really
k but I didn't even try any of these
>>

Losers always make up excuses.

soviet russia was not the same as imperial russia. The soviets industrial capacity was much larger than that of japan. A war between japan and the soviet union, would end with japan losing.
>>
>>79401111
>tanks and self-propelled guns
>against a naval power

lmao, on the other hand, (as always) soviets stood no chance against the imperial navy while neutralizing it is essential to defeat japan. no matter how many tanks you had they would be useless unless you can land them on japan in the first place. besides, with tanks you can only take peripherals of the empire like manchuria (it's basically a buffer) because the heart of the japanese empire (mainland japan and korea) is pretty mountainous and it's nightmare for tank divisions to fight on such a terrain. remember how soviets armored forces were fucked up in afganistan.
>>
>>79402877
>Implying the soviet union was unable to build more warships, submarines and aircraft than japan.

Tanks are useful even in mountainous terrain. They can be used for defensive purposes or as artillery.
