It depends on the quality of the hostel really. In lots of eastern European ones they were full of really friendly people, lots of free activities, and the beds were quite nice and at least semi-private - all for about £10 per night. Far better than paying £50 per night minimum for some bullshit generic hotel where you can't meet anyone. However, in places like Amsterdam I've paid £20 a night for an old uncomfortable bed in a packed and smelly room, which isn't great. Either way though, if you make sure that the hostel is literally just somewhere you sleep and spend the rest of your time seeing the sights and going to bars/clubs in the evenings, then it doesn't matter too much.

I've been coming round to the idea lately and think maybe I would. I've had some experience with my niece and believe it'd be fine outside of the struggle of the early few years. In terms of why, I think it'd give me greater motivation to endure the mundane tasks of life knowing that they're all for someone other than myself and it would make my parents happy as well.

I'd sort of like to have a few kids but the thought that I'd be responsible for someone else's well being and tutelage terrifies me and it seems really stressful. I think I'd be a mediocre parent and I'm not responsible or well grounded at all, I'd probably fail as a parent and I don't think I could ever find a partner, let alone a suitable one, so it's wholly unrealistic to think I would even be in a situation to ever have them. I have/had dreams and ambitions. I have a good life. I've achieved most of my dreams but I still have a lot more and many of them are well achievable, I know I will achieve them too.
