No one loves them but we really needed them. There was a real hunger for living space after the destrucion of WWII and rapidly groving post-war population.
BAD sides:
Sometimes badly made (poor technological regime on a bouilding site).
Ugly (same, manufactured elements)
Cold (now they've put more isolation on them but during comunism, you had to use a lot of central heating)
GOOD sides:
Setlements were well designed (at least better than today, with a lot of green parks around, schools etc.)
Technology itself is very durable (blocks if maintained well, can serve for a very long time)
