The original virgin meme was funny because everyone got butthurt and were insecure about it. Then the chad variation came and was also funny because it highlighted how ordinary the virgin's behaviour was and that it was ridiculous that people got worked up about the virgin walk. After that there were a handful of funny comparisons but it got beaten into the ground very quickly
>>
>>79289040
Actually yeah now that you remind me the "virgin walk" meme on its own was a bit funny. Beyond that it did turn reddit tier fast.

I'm not a vegetarian or vegan myself but I agree. I never got why people have a problem with them. It's harder to not eat meat than to eat it so people who don't eat it deserve more respect/praise than those that do, naturally enough. Yet you will still get gymfags who eat copious amounts of meat laughing at vegans as if they're superior to them even though being a gymfag is easy and therefore not worthy of respect, and also contemptible from a resource constraint perspective as the meat supply is under more stress than ever as the number of gymfag narcissists increases due to social media making us more vain and poor countries getting more entitled to rightful western resources including meat

It's more for the potassium intake which is one of the harder minerals to stay on top of, particularly if you don't like nuts. Milk and honey isn't that bad for you either, it's only a squirt of honey.

>it's not like I can bring that on the go with me in the car and stuff.
Why not? The blender I have blends into a sports bottle for the exact purpose of taking it with you.

Some greens like rocket and kale blend very well into it too.

Are any of you vegetarians?
>>
>>79290889
I don't really care about mineral intake and all that. I only try to substitute fruit in place of snacks and chocolate in an attempt to be healthier and reduce calories.
>>79290887
I don't particularly care about gymfags but people seem to have a problem with vegans for the same reason they have problems with anybody who doesn't conform. It's seen as negative to be mindful of other humans/animals and the environement. People look down at those for having a moral conscience. Not sure what to call it, insecurity, spite, begrudging, who knows?
The people who go on about how much they hate vegans cause more of a fuss than vegans itself.

For me it's because it's so hard to find a vegetarian/vegan that isn't obnoxiously up their own arse about it. I've met some that are sane, reasonable people, but I've met more that won't shut the fuck up about their dietary choices. It's worse when they go on about it being healthier when it's objectively not.

>>79291079
>Are any of you vegetarians?
On and off, I try but I'm a fussy eater in terms of replacements and have found myself feeling weak and lightheaded at times after a few weeks without meat. A low meat diet is probably more accurate.

>>79291081
If you want to be healthier then surely you want a balanced diet? Potassium is good for the heart and blood pressure.
>>
>>79291280
>For me it's because it's so hard to find a vegetarian/vegan that isn't obnoxiously up their own arse about it.
I was waiting for this sentiment. This is such a bollocks statement that you will see everybody say whenever this subject is brought up, and ironically the majority of people will jump on the bandwagon and agree with it and go on about how vegas are all obnoxious bla bla bla.

When have you actually ever met an obnoxious vegetarian or vegan? Probably never. You could probably count the amount of vegetarians and vegans you know on one hand, and they've probably never preached about it at all.

But by all means jump on the arsehole boards.ie style bandwagon to justify your hate. You're being more up your own arse about it than any vegetarian I've ever known.

They seem like a mess, I've heard people quoting around the 1K figure but the bigger problem appears to be around frequency of flights. When I was in primary school the principal and the local priest called over to my house to "bless me" and do some weird shit about my sins and anti-social behaviour. It was bizarre. Parents promptly told them to fuck off.
It was apparently something they used to regularly do to people in the village. We were kind of blow ins, having just arrived less than year.
Fucking hell though, bit surreal thinking of that. Imagine trying to do that today?

I'd be in more favour of social-services and gardai intervention rather than a local priest and a principal on a power trip trying to govern a village. Was a bit strange for us moving from the city to the countryside seeing such things.
16 years later and this village is no longer the place it used to be thanks to so many new families moving in. Upset the locals quite a bit because everyone used to know everyone sort of deal. Now nobody knows anybody the all the old people are isolated a bit.
Kind of sad but thats what happens.

Depends on how much story progress you go for, you can skip most of it. If you don't beat the 4 main bosses in their dungeons then you have to fight them before the final boss instead, you're likely to get your ass kicked with early game weapons though.

>let me tell you about your country
Well not genetically as such, there's acctually even quite a bit less of the original Indo European horse fuckers in you (and most of the Atlantic sea board) than in the rest of Europe. However, there are several stylistic traits in ornamentation and the like that are clearly transfered from the proto-schytians to the La Ténne (celtic) culture. Tl;dr genetically no, culturaly kind of.

Finally got a place today btw, no more hostel dorms with seven polish migrant workers for me. What to play tonight in celebration, Vic2/CkII/CivVI/Atilla:TW/M&B?

We're talking about Irish legend. The part we're talking about was probably made by medieval monks to give Ireland some grand backstory that links us with ancient civilizations in the east. It's the same as all those places that claim to be descended from a lost Israeli tribe, except for the ones that were actually true like Ethiopia.
That said the Spanish connection actually does hold some weight, though you'll still get some who claim the Spanish genes only came with the Armada or some shit.

If you're in Cork and have an interest in socialism or communism, you should tag along to the upcoming events to be held by the Connolly Youth Movement, including a screening of The Wind that Shakes the Barley!

Reply to this post if you're interested in learning more about the CYM and radical socialism.

The Connolly Youth movement is an all-Ireland political collective of young marxists. We're fighting for a long-term solution to the country's constant emigration, homelessness and corruption by building a national economy centered on common service and industry instead of the fleeting and fake growth produced as a byproduct of the pursuit of profit.

We want to empower people to control their spaces, in the workplace and education, and perform their life work for the benefit of society instead of capital. We think the first step on this long road begins in university, where we can radicalize the campus and introduce democratic changes that grant students greater stability and decision-making power in the fiscal direction of the university.

The Wind that Shakes the Barley centers mainly around the fault lines within the Republican movement between the socialist anti-treaty elements (who saw national independence as insufficient or pointless without social and economic revolution) and pro-treaty forces (who thought changing the colour of the flag was the main goal, but that the capitalist system should remain untouched).

This is the primary theme of the film, Connolly is quoted at length, Cillian Murphy plays a socialist and his main friend is a trade unionist train driver who fought in the Irish Citizen Army. They are accused of being 'reds' twice, first in the court scene when they try to get justice for a mistreated tenant, second at the pulpit when the priest denounces them for asking for redistribution of the largest estates to the small farmers.

James Connolly was an Irish trade union organiser and Marxist theoretician who founded the Irish Citizen Army, the first openly declared working class army in the world. It was set up to defend the workers of Dublin from being murdered by employers and police during strikes in 1913, and went on to play a defining role in the struggle for independence against the British. It galvanized the Irish Republican Brotherhood into action by threatening to act alone if it was not aided. It imbued the Irish Republican movement with a consciousness of social emancipation that has never faded from memory or view.

It's a right-wing misconception that socialists and communists expect everything to be the same. We venerate differences of talent and skill, and celebrate the individual qualities of our leaders just like everyone else. We just don't extrapolate the achievements of other individuals to abstract concepts, like for instance ethnic nationalists.

It's also a myth that socialists believe everyone should be paid or the same, or has the same capability in every task they turn their hand to. We disagree and recognise that some people are better at certain tasks than others. We simply believe that human life and time has universal value, and that there is dignity and importance in a miner's life and work just as there is in that of a doctor or a solicitor.
