Some people do it because of purely selfish reasons.
Others (probably most) because of their financial reasons. You can barely live a decent live yourselves with both you and your spouse working full hours. Oh, and you also live with at least one of your parents, sometimes even when married, so living space is a bit tight. That's the ugly financial reality of most people in Russia.

It's the same pattern everywhere and Russian are no different, except instead of a racial gap you just have the IQ gap, where low IQ Russian women have higher abortion rates than high IQ Russian women.
