Roman records tell us of "scores of thousands of Suebi crossing the Pyrenees" and pillaging and other types of records tell us when they arrived these groups probably made up to between 5% and 10% of the entire northwestern peninsula's population. Not much, granted, but it's something. And again, the similarities between Galicians all the way to southern Portuguese predate the middle ages. Before the "invention" of systematic supply lines during the French revolution, the vast majority of armies traveled with little to eat and scavenged for the rest. The only way to move large groups of people was with pillaging and ravaging the countryside. Heck, most people had to live their whole lives within 3km of their village during the middle ages, or exactly 1 hour on foot from their work site. Moving even 200 people from North to South and paying for the convoy supply lines was an arduous and expensive task back then. And there is genetic homogeneity on one metric but not on other, albeit less important ones.

Even then, on most other parameters, we are one the same level or even more diverse levels than a country like Germany or Poland.
